Riverside Sleighride

I wish I got an impression of snow from this. Mostly it's just PINE. Christmas candle. Those sticks you can buy to put into your fake tree to make it smell like a real tree... It's just.... Not good... as a perfume. 4/10

I am getting that same musty/earthiness so prevalent in many SS fragrances. And it's an instant turn-off for me.

Well, I dunno. First on and for a long stretch, say an hour or so, it’s that Solstice Scents loam/dirt note that seems prevalent in a lot of these atmospheric scents I’m trying. It’s okay but not loved. There are cold notes in the loam and dirt, but it’s mostly that rotting vegetation edge. Then somewhere along in there it turns to The Winston Churchill Britain at War Experience; cold river stone and mildew. I kind of love this stage (blame happy memories of racketing around London). Then it mellows even further and I kept sniffing thinking I was smelling Casting Shadows; this smooth, warm, woody incense I adore. Nope, it’s Riverside Sleighride. The dry down is Spectacular and I adore it. Weird, but I might be buying this one full bottle. Maybe it’s the ‘woody vanilla musk’ I’m loving. It’s lovely.

Basically just here to confirm tessture’s review. I get pine and an aquatic note that’s sort of like cold air coming off a river. That “river” note intensifies quickly after application and turns more musty, loamy, vegetative for about an hour. Then I get a very pleasant soft vanilla-tinged musk, with a bit of mistletoe adding a green, fresh edge. I like it very much, but i’m not sure i’m willing to wear it out where the earthy, musty note may offend. I’d recommend a sample size for anyone curious - it’s one of those very evocative, atmospheric scents that does capture an outdoor winter very literally! At worst, it’s an interesting journey in a bottle, and will certainly evoke memories of being outside on cold days.
