Tenebrous Mist

It smells like a vision of a dark scholar from the 18th century, it's more of a person than coming weather. Mysterious, dangerous, but thrilling in a nerdy way. It's definitely my No1 favorite 'male' scent by Angela so if you are curious definitely order a sample. One of very few perfumes that I can't differentiate. It just smells like Tenebrous Mist. I don't know what notes are played in the composition. I can probably tell what aren't. An easy full bottle buy in every shape and form. Makes me very sad we can't go out and live in the world of say... Penny Dreadful (Eva Green version) for a day or 10.

This is one of my faves so far from SS. I think this would be easy to wear year round for both men and women. Night and day. As others have said, it’s hard to describe. I, personally mostly get the bay rum and skin musk. Then tea. Then sandalwood. Everything else weaves in and out. That’s one of the reasons that I vibe with Angela’s art. It’s dynamic. Her creations don’t just sit there being the same thing all day. Tenebrous Mist is a great example of that part of her showmanship. It’s warm, familiar yet strange, easy going yet forbidding. I say it again. Sorcery!

This is my all time comfort scent. When I spray, I don't get a lot of that salt water, it just smells like a candle wick that was just blown out. It's warm, slightly smoky, cozy, and neutral. I wear this when I need calm and comfort. It's great to wear for bed, for a night in, but also so nice out and about during the day. It wears so nicely and smells skin like enough to be safe for workplace. I have never smelled anything quite like this, it's just so good!

This is a super interesting scent. At first VERY smoky, almost spiced but woth a touch of that sharp salt water note. Dries down with a full sweetness, slightly powdery but not so much it's dusty. The sandalwood and musk come through most after a few hours.

I'm not sure I've ever had such a strange relationship with a perfume before. I've worn it 3 times now and I still can't decide if I love it, hate it, or something in between. But I do keep wearing it, so that says something! I picked up Tenebrous Mist (which is a fantastic name btw) as a blind buy just based on the description. I am from the coast and have spent a lot of time on islands and on the ocean, so now that I live in the midwest I'm always craving the smell of the sea. Unfortunately, most 'sea' perfumes sweeten it up too much, adding a lot of fruit and coconut and even florals. That's not what the sea smells like. This is. On initial application, this perfume smells almost slightly brackish on me. Obviously that's not pleasant since that scent comes from things rotting in the ocean, but it does certainly also mean there's something genuine going on here. The brackishness calms down (though it never entirely disappears on my skin) after a few minutes, then I get a lot of aquatic, musky notes that stay the duration. It's not a morpher like many Solstice Scents - this one stays salty, marine, musky for me the whole time. I never get the rum or any wood or amber. I get the sea spray on a stormy day, but I want a ghost ship cutting through the mist, and I just don't get it. On my first wear, I thought this would be one I'd swap for something else, but the more I wear it, the more it reminds me of home and of vacations by the sea, so if I end up keeping it, it'll be because of that, even if I don't end up actually wearing it a lot. I'm also very curious about how it plays in the heat of summer. Right now I'm wearing it in about 70 degrees. Wish I got more of the notes listed in this perfume, because I adore the concept so much, and I'm so impressed that SS actually does manage to capture how the sea smells. As a fun side note - when I applied it today I immediately thought of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney!

this smells exactly like the flame and smoke of a soy wax candle. as it dries down, it gets sweeter, milkier, and slightly powdery. it does not move me deeply, but it's likeable, mild, and interesting.

*drools* This is devine. It is creamy and sweet and the tea note reminds me of the tea note in Bulletproof by Tokyomilk. It is blended sooo well that I can't even pin the notes in this but it delicious. To me is is just a beautiful woody gourmand. The tea gives it a tiny tannin-like nuance with the smoke for layering and then there is this mouth watering creamy almost coconut-cream like nuance. This is a pretty Pirates cake in a bottle! 🤤 Edit to add: when i wore it today i had a completely different experience. I picked up a lot of woodiness, maybe sandalwood too and a little bit if smoke but i mostly got a very salty nuance but not in the way of sea salt but the salt of swear on a body. A clean body and the prettiest of salt, like licking the sweat on a lovers neck and chest. So interest how different this is in on me today!

Received as a sample from Solstice. I read this one as incense as interpreted by China Mieville, or incense you would find in a parallel version of your own city. It starts out incredibly smoke forward with white amber sweetness bordering on violet pastilles. The oil is sadly incredibly weak, only lasting a few hours, but dries down pleasantly. Tenebrous Mist offers an ever so slightly spooky and mystical vibe for something like a quiet evening at home. The EDP might be louder but it’s not in stock at the time of this post.

Smells very much like carnation/clove but in a sweet and unisex way. Not too masculine at all. A very light sweet clove!
