Vanilla Pipe Tobacco

I have been on the search for a realistic pipe tobacco scent for quite awhile now. There are several on the market, but none sparked my memories of my grandfather sitting in his recliner with his pipe, until I tried this scent. From their site: "On cold sniff and initial application, a sweet, dry chewy tobacco note blooms on top of a beautiful vanilla base. The divine vanilla becomes stronger the longer this perfume is on the skin. The coumarin hay-like note paired with warm tonka bean adds a dimension to this scent that makes it smell exactly like a sack of moist fresh vanilla flavored pipe tobacco. It is truly exquisite and a must try for anyone looking for a realistic and wearable pipe tobacco fragrance (unlit, not smoky)." And I have to agree 100%. This is a very realistic pipe tobacco scent. As I smell it I can picture my grandfather opening his tobacco pouch and loading up his pipe for the evening. The site also recommends layering this scent. I will try that. A good apple or cherry addition will blend well with this scent. I get more of a causal vibe from this one, but I did wear it in a sports coat today (with jeans) and it held its own. I get great projection and longevity on my skin. While I do love this scent, due to memories of my grandfather and the true pipe smell, I have to admit that it can get a little cloying. Bottom line, if you like the smell of vanilla pipe tobacco, you should try a sample of this stuff.

Found this manufacturer just surfing fragrantica. Their scents intrigued me so I went to the site and found the oils to be fairly inexpensive. This one is gorgeous. A true, realistic vanilla tobacco pipe fragrance. So realistic and smells like fresh vanilla tobacco just pulled from the pouch/tin/box/container. Did I mention how very realistic it is? Yeah, well making sure I drive that point in as that's the main attraction here. To me, exactly like smelling the real thing... you'd swear someone just pulled out their pipe and packed tobacco. It is so rare to buy a fragrance that claims to smell like something and it turn out to actually smell spot on. With how extremely good this is I can't believe I paid so little for the roll on oil. The oil on me lasts a good while and the sillage is good. I'll be exploring more of the Solstice line for sure. This IS vanilla tobacco without any silly extra notes thrown in. No attempt to make it unique or interesting with extra notes that end up as nothing more than distracting and often as the exact notes you wish were left out and it'd be perfect. No, this has exactly what it needs to and nothing more. In truth, this realism could possibly be a problem for some looking for a designer take on scent. It forgoes fancy and complex in the name of absolute scent matching. If you're a fan of tobacco, definitely try this.

Chewy dried fruits and smooth moist tobacco. No smoke, no burning, match, or fire notes. No real warmth, no spices at all but still sticky sweet and rich. This scent completely reminds me of rum raisins! A beautifully simple and controlled take on tobacco. Very well done! I bought a sample of this mostly for the memories. My grandfather smoked a pipe and I always loved the smell and associated it with him. This scent smell just like the pipe tobacco he used to smoke. It brings back fond memories.

I love this perfume, but there is a dealbreaker that has made this unwearable for me. The coumarin (I believe) gives an "aftertaste" (aftersmell?) that's kind of this rotted fruit stink that sticks to the back of my throat. I'm not sure if it's that or the vanilla- unfortunately with a lot of the heavier vanilla perfumes from SS (Like Estate Vanilla) I get the same problem. Just a weird yuck hiding behind a beautiful scent. It's hard to explain but there are a lot of SS perfumes that do this to me- I believe I have sampled nearly every single one they've put out and I really think it's the coumarin. This perfume really does smell like real vanilla pipe tobacco. My parents used to smoke it so I have a real familiarity with it- grew up with it. Probably not healthy. I was really sad to discover this scent had that weirdness to it in the background too. It also doesn't have an impressive longevity. I've worn this perfume many many times, eventually had to rehome my bottle as I just couldn't get around that weird funk.

Definitely the most realistic pipe tobacco scent I've encountered. This is just like opening up a packet of Captain Black Royal or some other similarly rich, sweet pipe tobacco. To be clear though, this is such a good mimic of actual pipe tobacco that it also captures the slightly overwhelming, slightly cloying nature of unsmoked wet tobacco, like if you took that packet of Captain Black Royal and stuck your face into it. Still a great smell, but it's one of those that is better experienced wafting off of you rather than right up on your nose. But yeah, hands down the most realistic pipe tobacco fragrance, in my experience.

realistic pipe tobacco confirmed. very good, big winner. The vanilla and tobacco dance nicely together, sometimes it feels like it's more vanilla, other times the tobacco takes reign. My only complaint is that it does not seem to last long on my skin, turns to a skinscent after an hour. Anyway, I might still buy it, for the kick :)

I love the smell of good quality, fresh vanilla tobacco. I'm not a smoker and never have been, but I have a memory of being in a historic beachside town with my sister and she impulsively bought $60 worth of vanilla tobacco from an old fashioned tobacco store, just because it smelled so good! (Once she go outside the store, she goes, "wait, why did I just buy that, I don't even smoke?!". We walked around that historic town's shopping district on cobble stone streets, huffing that bag of amazing smelling stuff! Unfortunately, Solstice Scent's rendition of Vanilla Pipe Tobacco misses the mark for me. I get mostly a waxy vanilla with loads of tonka / coumarin. The tobacco doesn't show up on my skin. For vanilla, I much prefer Solstice's Estate Vanilla, and for pure tobacco there are plenty of other fragrances that have a strong tobacco note on my skin. It doesn't smell bad but it doesn't really do much for me either. Destash pile.

I almost feel like this sample is labeled wrong, but it came directly from the company, so... I doubt it. I don't smell anything even remotely close to pipe tobacco. Instead, this reminds me of butter pecan ice cream. It's so ridiculously, cloyingly, over-the-top sweet. I actually like sweet scents, but this is far too rich and sugary for me. I definitely would not recommend this to tobacco lovers. I would, however, recommend this to anyone who enjoys extremely sweet gourmands.

Upon looking for your fragrance type, you will likely encounter typos. One can easily spend $1000 before finding that "one." If tobacco is your favorite fragrance genre, then allow me to put a halt to your frivolous spending and allow me to introduce you to your Knight in Tobacco Armor. This is absolutely the ubiquitous smell fumigating from your local tobacconist. Everyone likes to throw around the word realistic to the point where realistic is no longer realistic. With that being said, this is in the non-fiction territory. A masterful blend of Tobacco and vanilla with coumarin added as an enhancer to make an all day snuff. The alluring flavor is revealed in layers. The reviewer below said something about this being cloying. If loving this cloying fragrance is a crime then I'll do whatever time the judge gives.

I started looking for a real tobacco -pipe tobacco- fragrance several years ago and honestly was about to give up. Bottles and bottles of muddy, mucked up mishmashes later, and, cue choir-of-angels sound and curtain reveal. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the real deal. Pure pipe tobacco smell, rich, and pungent. If you have a memory of this in your past, it will immediately take you back. Dries softer as some others have mentioned, but tobacco profile stays the same. If anything, the tobacco becomes a little more pronounced as the vanilla backs off. Personally, I like that it stays linear, because the initial smell is so frickin good, having it change into anything else would honestly just be a let down. Bravo for keeping it simple.

The website was easy to use and my order came very quickly. It smells like you have a pouch of vanilla pipe tobacco and stuck your nose in it. Deep, true, damp vanilla pipe tobacco. Pretty linear and quite potent and long lasting. My wife feels it smells more like chocolate or brownie (which I get) but there is plenty of vanilla and tobacco too. Every order comes with a free tester but they sent me an extra tester (which is awesome). They wisely chose Old Havana which is also tobacco based and more like Tom Ford's TV. Softer, more vanilla, less tobacco. Get a sample pack off the website and test a number of their offerings.

Is there anyone that would love to swap this fragrance. It smells amazing but does not last long on my skin. It’s a brand new bottle I got it a couple of days ago. I still have box and definitely will to swap for something you don’t like and that I might like.. Chloe

I am transported to my childhood...my grandparents house in the winter, snuggled inside cozy warm and my Pop filling his pipe with fresh tobacco. I have been looking for years and the search is over. Just amazing. And this lasts ALL day.

Not getting any tobacco here- just vanilla and it kind of reminds me of a cheap vanilla air freshener in someone's bathroom. It disappeared within 10 minutes and I cant smell it anymore.

Top note: Tobacco. Middle Notes: Tobacco. Bottom Notes: Tobacco. I love it, but I would layer it with Demeter paperback, and Demeter Leather to smell like an 1800s Gentleman's Club.

Sheer perfection! I love the smell of this. To me, it’s pure pipe tobacco followed by a lingering chocolate/vanilla aroma. And, yes...many compliments. Backup bottle worthy! 10/10
