Victorian Picnic

I like this well enough, but I do have to confess to hating orange blossom (I perhaps should've checked the notes list more intensively before purchase). This is the perfuminess of orange blossom and jasmine tempered by a mouthful of sugary sweet cupcake frosting. Wet on skin, the citrus-and-cake opener masks the white florals, then orange blossom takes over. After a few hours drying down, the lemony cake has gone and I'm left with a toothachingly sweet memory of cupcake frosting. Good for muggy summer days when you can't bring yourself to choke down a cupcake but still have a sweet tooth to nurse - especially if you're the kind of person who appreciates the bloom of white florals in the heat.

On my skin, it opens with a very strong and sweet orange blossom. 😍 I was ecstatic. My 10 year old complimented me on it on the way to camp this morning, but he said he smelled chocolate. Idk about chocolate but orange blossom and a syrupy cake maybe. As it wore on, the floral notes faded and a sweet, rich vanilla syrup and cream remained. I caught wiffs of it throughout my work day, and faint traces towards the end of day, but by the evening it had faded away from wrists but remains faintly on my décolleté. I am in love with this scent!A favorite already and will be wearing this often. ❤️

Victorian Picnic is the perfect name for this extrait launched in 2019. Orange blossoms hearken back to childhood days when I played in a nearby orange grove. A whiff of spongy ladyfingers and jasmine hovers in the background. Early on I caught a carnation/clove note that I later learned is actually wisteria's lilac/clove note. I like this fragrance but wish it lasted longer.✿ Scent family: Floral Gourmand Longevity on me: weak

I was expecting to love this perfume as I thought it would be a sweeter version of Victorian Tea Room, but a note in the opening comes across as extremely green to my nose. It's heavily floral with dry white wine notes. Once it dries down it gets a little bit sweeter but I never truly get the cupcake notes. It has a slight similarity to Victorian Tea Room but I much prefer that one. Definitely a good spring/summer daytime perfume.

I've been sampling Victorian Picnic on and off for like 3 years now because I can't make up my mind about it. The opening is odd; I think the reviewer below nailed it in that it's got a green aspect to it, which clashes with the otherwise straightforward gourmand notes. Maybe it's the wisteria? Once that goes away it's better, but that opening... It's so weird.

Orange blossom with a baked good note, but not overly sweet or gourmand.

The opening is very heavy on the baked goods. I get butter laden pound cake for the first 15-30 minutes and not much else. VICTORIAN TEA ROOM is a delightful citrus/camomile/black tea/rose scent that swirls with notes. VICTORIAN PICNIC is heavy and thick, a stoggy slice of pound cake that makes a "plonk" when it hits the plate. Let's see how it progresses... Okay, an hour in and it has settled into a much more wearable gourmand. It's slightly sweeter now that the butter and warm cake notes have eased up. There is also a slight wash of nondescript florals that is helping to balance out the bakery. And I detected vanilla in the base. I wish I was picking up those citrus notes. Like the reviewer below me stated, this is odd. I truly cannot make up my mind about it. It's HEAVY on orange blossom, and I didn't know what orange blossom on it's own smelled like until Kyse's Glace à la Fleur d'Oranger (which I HATE). So take the orange blossom from that, but add a heavy bakery note and a bouquet of flowers, green stems and all, which is what makes this interesting. The kicker of it all is that this smells (to me) exactly like cigarette smoke... and I say that in a positive light, if that's even possible. This perfume actually reminds me of days out with my dearly departed grannie. Not that this fragrance was out back then as a child, but she was a smoker and wore strong floral perfume. This smells like those days to me. Cigarette smoke in the car with the windows up, choking on the smoke and flower perfume. No kidding, I know that may sound like a negative memory, but it's truly not. I loved my grannie so much and those fragrances combined evoke those very specific memories for me. I never even thought about having those beautiful memories of her picking me up early from school, taking me shopping and to eat created into a fragrance before. The only addition is the bakery note, but that bakery element goes away after 5 minutes or so and we're left with the cigarette smell and green flower stems. Try it for yourself, see if you like it. I like this. This would never become my signature scent, but it is so beautiful to me to a degree. I can't decide if I would ever wear this or just keep a bottle when I'm in my feelings and want to revisit my childhood for a while. I love this for how it makes me FEEL, but I don't know if I would be able to wear it and smell of it to other people... does that make sense?

I’ve played with a sample a couple times, and I almost like it, but theres an overwhelming green milkweed smell for me that throws it off too much. Otherwise it would be a pretty floral gourmand.

Its a sweet floral scent. Very jasmine and orange blossomy but if it were a cupcake. Perfect fragrance for springtime!
