Wilcox's

Amazing scent. There is nothing like it. It is both soothing and invigorating, very herbal but has an underlying sweetness from the chamomile and the spices, perfectly unisex though it may veer masculine. I find this scent amazingly calming and clarifying. Even though incense is not listed, the woods give it a kind of green Avignon feel. It's three parts floral, herbal, and green wood. While I love almost all of Angela's scents this is really different! Quite good, and unique. Not a mall frag!!!

At first it smells like yummy version of Sage tea, sweet in a non aggressive way. I detect no hay, wood or evergreen notes. Then in 5-10min it turns into this (sadly faint) aroma that is equal parts herbal, floral and gourmand. It makes me keep sniffing my hand all day and I'll have to get a full bottle to see if quantity would make it more detectable.

I purchased this as a sleeping perfume. I was using another niche perfumery's sleep perfume, which is much more expensive and has many of the same notes (though fewer of them than Wilcox.) Wilcox smells nice - there's a state park here that features a Pioneer Village with an apothecary stocked like it would have been in the late 1800s, and it smells just like that. It's very herbal, with a slight tinge towards the medicinal, but not in a cough-syrup way if that makes sense. It smells fresh. I put this on right before bed (a little on my décolleté, and a bit on each hand since I often sleep with a hand near my face, and it is relaxing. I have noticed that my dreams are very vivid when I wear it, as they were with my other sleep perfume. Last night I dreamt I was at the gym working out, and when I woke up my muscles were twitching like they do after I lift, so I think we can safely say that was vivid! Overall, it's well blended and would work fine as a fresh day perfume too, though it doesn't have the longevity or sillage I normally go for (I end up reapplying if I wake up in the night), but as a sleep perfume, it's golden and wouldn't knock a partner out if you sleep with one. Oh, and it's not so strong that it projects and gives my dog super-twitchy dreams like a certain other sleep perfume!

This is a lovely herbal perfume, especially if you are like me and your skin amplifies even slightly sweet notes. Sage dominates the opening, followed closely behind by lavender and rosemary. These three are bold and dry, no excess sweetness detected, which makes this a perfect dreamy blend. It eventually seeps into a chamomile blend with a soft sparkle of spice. I was disappointed by how sweet and soapy High Desert is on my skin, but Wilcox gives me the medicinal sage rejuvenation that I was hoping for.

Wilcox's is a very surprising scent. It is calming, but energizing. It is herbal, but not too "green" because of the woods. I love the chamomile, sage and hay in this one. I'm also a sucker for cedar. The herbs are beautifully blended. Opens slightly medicinal. I'm not able to detect any spice notes, but the herbs and woods are well-rounded. Longevity is not great--only a few hours on me. Very soothing and unique--it reminds me of a spa.

This is so much greener than I anticipated (I thought it would be spicier). Normally, I am in no way a fan of sage, but here it is bearable (I find it an astringent herb). Of the listed notes here, I believe tulsi is most dominant on my skin; but really, what I detect (particularly in the opening) smells a lot more like eucalyptus, or even tea tree oil.

I was so disappointed with this scent. I'm an herbalist and I for sure KNOW what these scents smell like. This is grandma garbage. Once it settled on my skin, I smelled like a cheap plastic powdery 1980s baby doll. If you like powdery warm spice, this is it. It does not smell like fresh herbs or wood or an apothecary.

The first time I wore Wilcox’s I was surprised; it smelled, initially, of the cool gloom of a crypt–that damp, earthen, mineral smell that conjures quiet meditations on mortality in the solitude of cold, stone chambers. I don’t know that it ever warms up on my skin, but it evolves into a wonderfully soft, compassionate scent: gentle chamomile and sweet, woody nutmeg, the sort of aromas that may waft from an uncorked phial, tipped gently past your lips while a leathery, bright-eyed acorn of a woodwitch murmurs, “just a drop, dearie!”

I can smell dried plant matter, a slight dirt edge, nutmeg, and a smooth background that might be white musk. It's not as herbal as I’d hoped, but very pretty regardless. The musky background makes it smell like an expensive hand lotion. It still retains the woody herb notes and slight dirt in the dry down but predominant note is the smooth white musk. I really like it even if it isn’t what I was thinking it would be.

I bought this in a rollerball to layer with my Witch's Cottage EDP, but I love Wilcox all on it's own. It's not a "perfume" per se, but it is very calming and beautiful! An EDP is def on my radar now.
