A Bump in the Night

i’m from england and we have a tradition called bonfire/ fireworks night, the burning leaves note in this is very reminiscent of the smoke in the air during bonfire night ( albeit if you’re stood quite a bit away / just caught it in the wind ) to me it’s a very small part of the perfume! i mostly get honey coated pecans and a creamy sweetened mascarpone with a side of tart strawberries. not barbecue sauce, not cloying smoke etc on me this dries down to nutty lactonic creaminess, the strawberry note does remain nearly the full wear too. the smoke again is very minuscule on the dry down but adds a little warmth that stops it being too sweet. i absolutely adore this one due to nostalgia and the scent itself but only got to sample it after the SO, hopefully i’ll pick up a bottle in a declutter! perfect for autumn/ fall imo. ( bottle found! )

Reminds me of a time as a teenager spraying yourself all over with some vanilla b&bw and going to a bonfire. On first spray it smells of so much smoke, but after about 15 min it dries down to a very smokey sweet milky vanilla.

This smells exactly like walking into an antique shop. Jarringly so, it actually gave me the craziest feeling of nostalgia. But not really in a good way... It actually made me a little nauseous. It's earthy, smokey, definitely interesting. It almost smells like... old wood? Brass? Tarnished silver? That burning leaves note is just so pungent and bitter, making this one smell like old, musty antique furniture. It's almost a little sour, even. Just very very unpleasant to my nose. I couldn't smell anything past that "sour burning antiques" thing - no hint of honey or cream, but those probably come out through the wear. I couldn't leave it on my skin long enough to figure out if it would become pleasant. Had to scrub her off.

This to me smelled nasty. It was very overwhelming and smelled like nothing but a bonfire and not in a good way. I definitely won't be getting this again. Thank goodness I got a sample. At first it smells like a massive bonfire but then it has this weird sweet accord that does not go well together. I know they are trying to replicate pecans in this but to me it would have been better if they hadn't.

The mascarpone is very much there. Like VERY much there. I don't get any strawberry or pecan from this really, just the mascarpone and smoke, which gives it a suffocating, sour, smoky profile. I thought I'd love this since I love strawberries and pecans and the description sounded cozy, but it was a scrubber for me. The overwhelming mascarpone makes me even nauseous.
