Vampire Husband

Vampire Husband smells like what I'd imagine the inside of Dracula's crypt would smell like. It's a little damp, dark, earthy, metallic but there's a hint of sweet hint of musk there that becomes more apparent as the notes develop on the skin over time. At some point, the scent reminds me a bit like shopping in a thrift store too. It is not too similar at all to its partner fragrance Vampire Wife, especially in the opening, and to say that they are merely just gendered counterparts of each other is reducing the beauty of both fragrances too simply. If you're into vintage, slightly haunting scents then both are definitely within that fragrance genre. Other than that, they are not too similar. This was a blind buy for me and I would say it's a successful blind buy; like what a previous review had already stated, the overall fragrance isn't as difficult or polarising as described. If you like fragrances like Carnicure by Marlou, this is similar but significantly more of a crowd pleaser. I'm so excited to have Vampire Husband in my collection.

When I first smelled this my initial reaction was mixed. Love the clove smell but there was definitely a "grout" undertone that I wouldn't recommend for everyday wear. I'm a trans man so I find fragrance gives me a ton of gender euphoria, and I really wanted to make this work. My skin chemistry is all over the place, but after adding a little bit of a coconut carrier oil for layering I could smell EVERYTHING. Its absolutely wonderful, and feels like an 1000 year old vampire walking through the cemetery, smoking a cigarette while he places a bushel of winter florals on the grave of his human love. The earthy, spicy tones are divine and it's my signature scent now. I do recommend layering but it may work better on others skin than mine without. Love this one.

A.whole.ass.vibe. I think I'm in love! This stuff is simply magical. I've smelled this before. Back in the 70s when I was a kid. Not sure where, but this scent has presented itself to me early in my life. This is so familiar. I'm getting a full bottle of this if for no other reason than to take me back to a simpler time. It's incredible how someone can bottle a memory.

A true vampire fragrance. This perfume is an absolute dream to me. The dirt and petrichor notes are very strong for me which gives it strong a graveyard vibe. Additionally it has a gentle sweetness. I personally love layering it with other soft goth perfumes like Relique d'Amour.

I don’t care if I am one of the few, I love this. The clove note really stands out to me and memories of college come rushing back. I do not get damp, mildewy or grandpa. I don’t know how to describe this except for moody. Love love love it.

This is my favorite perfume of all time, and my daily go-to. Smells exactly how you think it would.

This smells like spicy grandpa... but kinda sexy somehow??? Like spicy, sexy grandpa. My nose is confused. At first, I had a hard time smelling anything beneath the peppery blast of patchouli, clove, and tobacco. It just screamed GRANDPA to me. But as it warmed up and settled in on my skin, it smelled almost.... comforting. Like I've smelled this a million times before but don't quite remember doing it. Does it smell like dirt? Absolutely. Dirt and stone are certainly there, giving a "drafty castle hallway" vibe. Is it spicy? 100%, yes. But it's not a warm spice - no, this spice is cold and chilling, and has an almost menthol-like coolness in the nose when sniffed directly. Am I imagining that? Maybe. I don't know, but I can't stop sniffing my arm where I sprayed it. This is absolutely what I think a vampire husband would smell like. A vampire, fresh from the coffin, with cigarette smoke clinging to his clothes. It's mysterious, earthy, undeniably powerful and masculine. But deep down it's comforting, smooth, and maybe even a little warm. It's not something I would wear on a normal basis, but it's definitely wearable. I'm glad I bought it.

This is really fantastic, and it's not a challenging fragrance, as the notes might suggest. It's such a beautiful and dark, almost vintage-style perfume. It has a graveyard vibe, but in the most pleasant way possible. Leans masculine, but honestly, I would still say this is unisex since the whole gothic graveyard vibe is for everyone. I don't pick up on any metallic blood notes, not even the cigarette note. This smells like fresh dirt and woods with the patchouli coming out quite choclotley. I purchased a sample more for the fun of what these notes together would smell like, and I am instead greeted by something easily wearable and just divine. I would totally purchase a bottle of this next year for the fall and winter.

this is an odd one, shifting from earthy-sweet to this sort of antique attic to a dirty graveyard. this is vampiric, i will say that much, it just is way more wearable than the notes suggest – super well balanced. i don’t get any blood unfortunately but i get this little metallic kick in the air so maybe it’s that. also has almost none of the same notes as cirrus’s maid marian but smells almost identical albeit more earthy and tobacco filled. there’s a sort of sweetness here that’s reminiscent of dusty honeycomb just like maid marian even though there’s absolutely no sweet notes mentioned. maybe that’s the sorce dna putting in its work?

Bought this a gag gift and it smelled much better than I would have ever thought. Its definitely leans more masculine, hard to describe most of the notes but its incredibly musky. I would not buy a full 100 ml bottle of this but the smaller bottle is perfect for novelty.

i understand why so many people don't really like this perfume but for me it smells mostly of clove dirt and cigarettes but wearable imo. definitely not for everyone

Smells like calamine lotion on initial spray to me. This weird, tangy sweetness comes through, and lacks the complexity it might have had and blurs into a chalky mineral mess. I will say though, after a very long dry down, the notes that were more subtle, such as the blood, and the tobacco have come through nicely. The problem is that I did not notice them until about 6 hours of wear, and the projection, which was weak to begin with, is quite literally non-existent at this point. To spray it again would bring back those weird tangy notes that I disliked, so I would not purchase a full size for the price.

This smells to me like an old dilapidated Victorian mansion. The rotting walls full of ivy, the missing floors exposing the dirt underneath. Nature having the final say in civilization. It’s just decaying and rank. This isn’t sexy to me at all. More interesting than anything, but I wouldn’t wear it at all. If you’re into the macabre and the occult you will enjoy this. If you want a sexy vampire fragrance I recommend Hermann a mes Cotes Me parassait une Ombré by Etat Libre d’Orange.. 4.5/10

You’re frantically restocking in Fangtasia’s moldy, leaky backroom while Eric yells at you. A fluorescent light flickers. Too dank to give me that crypt hubby fantasy. Could be good for a scare actor/any performance artist who wants to commit to the bit.

I really thought I would like this one but unfortunately FOR ME it does smell exactly like my dad's mildew-y basement mixed with the stale smells of old polo colognes and menthol. This might be awesome for someone with different memories than me though

Smells like a grandpa wearing a wet sweater. He was caught in the rain. Also he showered with old spice soap bar. Not full bottle worthy for me.

This gives zoologist a run for their money. On two different skins it went hyper realistic animal stall with dirty hay and unwashed animal inside, with a hint of absinthe. I saw someone also mention a scare actor below and I came to the same conclusion. I can see it playing as an unsexy vampire just crawling out of his coffin for the first time in 100 very stinky years. I’d call this unwearable and very potent, but good for a curiosities perfume collection.

yeah, this definitely smells like the name. feels like walking through a haunted house in an abandoned castle at midnight, and you reach the quarters of the vampires. creepy ass music is playing, and some actor is hiding in a freshly uncovered coffin. i got this as a free sample and never would have picked it myself (i hate it), but it definitely delivers on what it is. just not my cup of tea.

opens up the exact same as serge lutens borneo 1834 with the sweet and very realistic earthy wet tones (minus the chocolate present in borneo 1834, but here it's tobacco clove), and very quickly becomes one of the most realistic petrichor scents I've ever smelled with a sweetness from the clove in the background there's also some kind of punchiness here? something close to anise if it were soaked in alcohol, and maybe that's the absinthe but idk for sure since I've never had it in fact this is extremely similar to borneo 1834, and where that dries down to a wet patchouli with dry cocoa powder that feels a lot more atmospheric (like you're smelling it around you and not on you), this dries down (to my nose) with the heavy absinthe-like anise or clove note and even more wet and rainy and smoky, imo they're different enough to own both but also quite similar, at least initially, and deeper in the dry down it very closely resembles serge lutens l’orpheline definitely a gloomy fragrance, and I think if gloomy weather had a smell it would be exactly this kinda like standing in an old unkept cemetery where someone who left had smoked a clove cigarette (way heavier on a smoky clove and not the dirty ashtray type vibe of cig smell) in the rain and you're sipping a glass of anise-soaked absinthe, also kinda reminds me of my childhood being at the library on quiet cozy rainy days I don't get any grandpa or moldy vibe or old spice/axe at all, it's absolutely stunning

One of the most realistic "vampy" type frags I've encountered. From the jump it evokes library basement, old books, damp crypt. The petrichor and dirt notes were the most immediately obvious. It immediately gave me deja vu because I knew I'd smelled this before, but couldn't place it. 30 minutes in I remembered exactly where I'd encountered this. Growing up my parents always stored our Christmas decorations in this cupboard under the stairs, and sometimes as a kid I'd hide in there when playing hide-and-seek. This smells exactly like that cupboard filled with old 90s/2000s Xmas decorations— aging carpet, crumbling drywall, synthetic pine needles, the nappy fur of stuffed animals only brought out once a year, and a one of those homemade ornaments you made in kindergarten out of cinnamon and applesauce buried deep in a cardboard box of holiday knickknacks. Despite its weirdness, it's surprisingly wearable. But don't expect something sexy or crowd-pleasing. Would be quite good if you already dress goth/alternative and people don't expect you to smell "normal."

For all of its mystique, it's quite wearable. I know I'll get crucified for this, but upon the dry down I was immediately reminded of PDN New York, however much softer. I could wear this in a cardigan and loafers- pastel, not black. If I were to imagine the petrichor etc., the uniqueness comes through, however, it's genuinely as I've previously described, minus the up-market Old Spice vibes some wearers get from PDN. Solid fragrance regardless. 6.5/10 overall if I had to quantify it with 1 being Axe Body Spray and 10 being LADDM or FEA.

I’ll withhold a rating until after the dry down, but I’m sitting here wearing Vampire Husband (lured by the patchouli, naturally) and I’m solidly meh for now. Someone mentioned grout below, and I do get a bit of that here. While a bit unsettling, I will say I am pleased the blood note isn’t apparent, more of a “fantasy” note. I really loathe any fragrance that leans into gore— I don’t find it interesting or edgy or unique. Daily life in 2026 is grotesque and disturbing enough, I don’t need reminders of viscera in my fragrances.
