Bel Canto

Here's my full review after good three weeks of testing. Without any second thoughts, I prefer Vibrato over this one, and that scent is an easy blind buy, but don’t let this statement fool you. It is also a less complex fragrance, and if you want a deeper niche experience, Bel Canto is a better purchase. Anyway, as a big lover of sandalwood-based fragrances, I love how this smells, and with the inclusion of musk and earthy notes, it just gets deeper as the fragrance progresses. TOP NOTES With vibrant and fresh citric notes, followed by a punch of powderiness, these initial accords leave a bold impression and will quickly help you decide whether this fragrance is for you or not. Complementing the zesty freshness, floral touches, and powder, this infuses the composition with uplifting energy. HEART NOTES In my experience, the herbal accord and violet are buried deep under the powdery aspects, and the only way you’ll feel the violet is by burying your nose into the place where you have sprayed the fragrance. Interwoven with these central elements, heart notes also reveal a woody facet coming from the base notes, mainly a sublime sandalwood note. Together, this creates a certain and much-needed juxtaposition while transitioning to the part of the fragrance you will smell for most of its life. BASE NOTES The dry down is by far the best part of this scent. This grand finale is mostly about sandalwood, musk, and earthy notes, with a reminiscence of powder that lingers until the fragrance disappears from the skin. Enhancing the base further, musk and the earthy accord add a soft and subtle animalistic undertone, which is the reason why we buy niche fragrances—to experience something unusual in seemingly familiar scents. OVERALL I have found Bel Canto in the upper echelon of niche perfumery, but it has some weaknesses that prevent it, in my eyes, from reaching a masterpiece status. This one is extremely delicious to me. I heard that infamous fragrance YouTuber - who I personally have literally no issues with but you know I’m not up on all the controversy - compare it to two of my favorite perfumes (Gris Charnel and Santal Complet) so I ordered a decant from a website I had never ordered from before and although their decanter bottle leaked everywhere I’ve had enough juice left to give this a real go and I have liked it progressively more every time I’ve worn it. The sandalwood/Amber/vanilla/musk base is a little bit nutty - like the food nuts - to me. And to my nose it’s not at all like either GC or SC buuuuuuuut I do see why if you like those two you may very well like this. The opening is a little bit fresh, those are the green, citrus and voilet notes I think, but it rather quickly settles down to a creamy very delectable vanilla/sandalwood beauty. I really really like it. I just bought myself a FB, and that was a pricey investment. However I find myself drawn to that damn 10 mL decant over and over and it’s almost gone. I am happy to spend $$$$ on fragrances as long as I love and want to wear them. This one is unique to my collection as well, don’t have a dupe or semi dupe comparison. However if you are a sandalwood lover, I recommend getting a sample and trying it out. I am looking forward to that FB landing at my door soon. I also got a decant of Ylang in Gold around the same time so ended up combining them and I really love that combo. I think it’s a decent performer, not eternal but the creamy slightly nutty scent bubble sort of wafts around me for hours so that is good enough for me.

Last year's release, still flying under the radar with couple of reviews, the fragrance embraces its lack of hype. I haven't had the chance to try Santal Complet or Gris Charnel, so I can't make that comparison, but I can share a few words for those interested in this one. I received it just yesterday and wore it throughout the day. The fragrance boasts very good longevity and projection, lasting around 8 hours based on my experience. Its scent profile is a blend of woody, powdery, musky, and fresh notes, making it a truly unisex fragrance that doesn't lean towards any particular side. The ingredients exhibit a niche-level quality, but comparable to some of the best offerings from Dior or Chanel so take it as you want. The artist plays a central part, enriching the character with nuances. Bel Canto is a fragrance, soft, airy, that opens in a hesperidian tone but then becomes soft, mellow, slightly powdery, involving. I would call it a cloud of olfactory notes. It has an intense evolution, wait for it and enjoy it, it is really wonderful. It's on the wishlist.

I have absolutely fallen in love with 'bel canto.' It is the fall scent l have been looking for. It is easily unisex but l find a feminine leaning; however, I think it depends on the woman. If you give off a sexy, sensual, sex goddess vibe, this is for you. I wasn't sure at first but l kept going back and it kept drawing me back. It makes me feel libidinous and seductive. My man says it was the catalyst for the best afternoon EVER! Not for girly girls unless you are in the mood. I wish the longevity was a little better. 4.5/5

Just received this and have been wearing it the last few days. It is such a gorgeous, creamy and woodsy scent. Imagine if Santal complet and Gris Charnel had an older sibling...and the great news is it lasts longer than either of the other two. While they are all beautiful scents, this one just has the best of both Santal and Gris Charnel, plus the better performance. I highly recommend and it is truly a unisex scent when you first spray it. It leans slightly feminine in the dry down, but very slightly.

Spring and summer gem with an awesome performance Bel Canto is great for spring and summer. It opens with fresh green and citrus notes that gradually evolves into creamy sandalwood with some powdery notes. It is nice, light airy and very pleasant. It lasts me all day. I love this house, like, really love Sosprio. I have sampled almost every bottle so far. Bel Canto is going to be added to my list of favorite bottles. Woody powdery, complex, leans masculine, and I'm here for it. I am only an hour in so I cannot speak to the longevity but the scent is intoxicating. Going to have to add this bottle to my collection ASAP.

This is most creamy, smooth combination of sandalwood and powder. It's just beautiful 😍 I can't understand why is rated so low... This is my discovery of 2025. Can't stop smelling my arm. It's feminine leaning and I didn't smell nothing similar. Great everyday parfume.

Gorgeous perfume, it is a bit masculine when I first spray.I don’t mind it. The scent itself is regal and complex. It start with strong woody note on my skin for at least 30 minutes or more and slowly develop to most beautiful white floral scent. Full bottle worthy.

Strong and calm in his presence. A unique and distinctive fragrance that made me stop searching. I have Jazz Club, and they are similar but not identical, but Bel Canto has better performance and longevity.

I'm sold. This is quality! Starts with citrus blossom and jasmine, after some time musk notes make their appearance then a woody with a bit of powder finale. A great and sophisticated blend.

Such a delicious fragrance, if FDB made a Santal Complet extrait it would be this, so delicious and last forever, spray it 10 hours later and the next day and still smell it on my me

Absolutely gorgeous creamy, woody, and musky scent.

This one is really hard to describe. It's one you really have to test out. Doesn't really smell like anything familiar or describable. I will say that there is nothing harsh or negative in it. If you smelled the latest Sospiros (post Xerjoff separation)....This has the same kind of really nice lift off the skin and performance. Similar to Vibrato or Basso in that way - great performance. It's in mid tone area. So it's not light scent like Vibrato or something Super heavy and dark like Ombre Nomade or Alexandria II. The dry down is a really nice powdery Vanilla. As far as the powdery notes. It's not like make up bag powdery, it's more nutty, like crushed nuts. Theres nothing here that anyone could really hate. It's one of those where you either love it or are like -- "not foe me ".....6.8/10 EDIT-- Just tried YSL 6 Place Saint Sulpice. Allthough the notes arent similar; Bel Canto has a very similar vibe. Like a bright fruity flanker. but the same Nutmeg type main accord. The YSL is better in every aspect, but they are similar.

Based on the reviews I thought this would be a love. A more feminine leaning version of Jazz Club? I was sold. So I ordered a decant. In my humble opinion this smells absolutely nothing like Jazz Club. The only notes in common are citrus & vanilla. This is a powdery, earthy & woody scent. The citrus and floral top notes are fleeting. Jazz Club is more warm, slightly sweet and sensual from the combo of rum, vanilla & tobacco. I don't get the comparison at all. It’s really nice but not fb worthy for me.

An interesting rough scent of dry wood, leather seat polish in a car, medicinal herbs, citrus, and spices. After it becomes a woody, powdery, patchouli, and long-lasting

Not bad, above average, unique, powdery blond wood and tangerine/mandarin orange musk. Subtle blend of amberous patchouli and flowers in the undertone.

I quite like the base accord of this scent; lactic, herbal, earthy, dusty, medicinal and exceptionally blended so nothing sticks out like a sore thumb. Patchouli is really pulling it's weight here, grounding everything with it's earthy, dustiness. But for some reason, the ensemble of top and middle notes really come across to me as some kind of a cheap drug store coconut scented hair product. This is a complex, multi-faceted scent for sure but I really have to dig in deep to find something that I can admire and enjoy.

I can see the similarities between Bel Canto and Santal Complet/Gris Charnel. However, Bel Canto turns dirty woody on me. Like actually dirt - i’m assuming it’s coming from the earthy notes. I was hoping for a closer relation to santal complet as that one is super nice.

I'm not sure why someone would make or buy this.

This is a sandalwood bomb and smells VERY DIFFERENT on skin versus on paper. I agree with some reviewers that on paper, it smells about 70% similar to Jazz Club. However, on skin it turns unpleasantly earthy and sour which is nothing like Jazz Club or Santal Complet. Please sample before purchasing a full bottle as this is not blind buy safe at all.

Love/hate relationship. I love everything sandalwood but this smells like leather seats in a spotless car on a hot sunny day with the AC blasting where the leather seats feel cold to sit on type. Puts me in the mind of getting into a cab. I do get some jazz club nuances but nothing like a gris charnel or Santal Complet combo .
