Erba Oud

Erba Oud is obviously polarizing, it is the epitome of commercial niche. It is the mythical Centaur of the fragrance world: half beast galloping through the mud and half philosopher with eyes turned to the heavens. If one were to trust the majority of the reviews below (don't) you would believe this is poop in a spray bottle. The truth is that it is indeed, for the very first few moments of the opening, bottled turd! Then something magical happens, the horse patty alchemically transforms into a rich oud, fruit, and incense medley with hints of jackfruit curry popping up fancifully in the background for a bit. I am reminded of wandering through a southeast Asian open air market many years ago with fine incense burning as stands replete with ripe fruit beckon and then the breeze shifts ever so slightly to bring a waft of something delicious in the distance. Erba Oud is potent, a single spray is plenty, and this juice is a marathon runner that will go for twelve hours easily while transforming numerous times. Erba Oud is not just one fragrance, it is several Russian nesting dolls; as one layer is removed a new and entirely different perfume potion is revealed beneath. Erba Oud is brilliant because it is an absolute roller coaster ride, the execution is bold and divisive as many great works of art are, and it takes a strong character to tame this gorgeous Sagittarius in a bottle.

Si bien Sospiro nos presentó una mejora de calidad al frutal clásico "Erba Pura" en "Erba Pura Mágica", seguía siendo ese olor algo femenino e incluso infantil, me cuesta trabajo imaginar a un hombre oliendo así. En Palacio de Hierro (Tienda deparamental de lujo aquí en México) ví una botella de Sospiro de color amarillo que decía "ERBA OUD" sospeché que se trataría de esas veces que las casas quieren sobre explotar un ADN con mil flankers. Pero aún así me dió curiosidad saber a que olería Erba Pura con Oud. En cuanto el vendedor retiró la tapa del perfume me llegó inmediatamente un fuerte olor a establo, ¡solo con retirar la tapa! Al atomizar un secante me invadió una fuerte ráfaga de un Oud tan fuerte y apestoso, al pegar la nariz fue donde ese contraste frutal empezó a relucir. Quedé perplejo, Sospiro me había callado la boca. Estoy encantado con este perfume, Erba Pura tenía salvación con un Oud Apestosito. My honest review on this fragrance: Let me firstly say, erba oud is miles clear of oud maracuja or any of the other similar dna's. This is a fruity-oud masterpiece. Do not listen to the haters! This opens up beautifully with a very sweet fruity, almost caramel like smell. I think its the melon that I get most. Almost instantly aswell you get this not harsh but smooth oud running in the background. The leather, oud and vanilla combine so well with the fruity notes its just incredible. This is just so much brighter than oud maracuja and I could see myself wearing this in the summer even in Doha, Qatar. And lets not start about the performance, this is nuclear. 2 sprays get the job done, 3 might even choke people. And this lasts like crazy, do not spray on clothes as it does not come off! 9,2/10 for me!

Erba Oud is a fragrance I literally adored. Imagine the juiciness and freshness of the fruity notes combined with a strong, slightly animalic oud, which on one side add personality to the fruity part, and on the other side refresh the oud, making it a fragrance that is nothing less than magnetic and is sure to get compliments. The performance is very high, wonderful during the warmer seasons for those looking for an oud in an enchanting summer mood. A definitely winning contrast. If you like real Indian Oud- you will like this People who say this smells like poop have not smelled real oud, only fake oud from designer brands, montale, etc. Imagina Erba Pura with real indian oud and Melon- this is erba oud Last days on clothing, sillage wise is very good. If you like indian oud and erba pura, blind buy worthy!

You sampled and bought some juicy fruits on the fruit-market, and on your way home you stepped in some dog shit. 3rd party up-close reaction: "Get away, you smell like shit." I love it.

I like it, it smells delicious, when you spray first, give it time to dry a little, sexy

Perfect fruity animalic fragrance I love it

Initially smells like melon 🍈, cantaloupe, mango 🥭, lemon 🍋 with an under base of stinky oud. The oud smells very similar to the wood shavings when I chainsaw certain trees on my farm. After an hour the oud calms a bit and after 3 hours the whole perfume mellows but is still strong and projecting. I really like it as it dries down and it lasts on your skin 12+ hours. I could see why people might not like the initial stinky oud. I enjoy the perfume.

Difficult to wear, weapons grade stuff here. Fruity poop. Starts off as a potent example of barnyard, animalic oud...then in melts trademark Erba fruitness. The blending is smooth and resounding. Good stuff. Best of the Erbas.

Overripe fruit vibes. Fruits and oud lead the way and oud disappears leaving a fruity scent.

I like oud, I like real oud, I even like some explicitly fecal/barnyard ouds. This isn't coming from a place of not understanding or not being familiar with oud. This one really does smell a bit like shit to me :( It calms down after ~30 minutes and then becomes pretty standard, but something about the combo of the fruit and musk in the opening with that harsh oud smells like literal shit to me, with a side of BO. If I smell it close to the skin I can pick apart the different notes and then it's quite pleasant but in the air it does smell to me like something bad happened to my body and/or toilet.

This is a really interesting fragrance! I get the fruity opening right away - it's sweet and juicy, but not overwhelming. The oud comes in later and adds a nice depth and smokiness. It lasts a long time on my skin, which is always a plus. Not sure if I'd call it 'lustful' though...

I do like indian oud and smelled real skanky ouds but the way it’s done in here, with that super fruity erba pura dna i dont like it. I think the skanky oud doesn’t fit the fruity dna. They should have went with a mass appealing tf oud wood type oud instead of a real and skanky indian one, or should have went full on skanky and changed the fruity erba dna into something less fruity and more leathery or something. 3.5/10. it’s not the skank alone that’s the problem, it’s the skank mixed with the fruitbasket that makes it a bad combo imo.

Even if it's £30 I won't by this I'm sorry - the brand has only beasts but this is trash

Tried this on skin in a store - couldn't regret it more. lasted ages even after washing it off and was super loud projecting, so props for that. the smell is quite possibly the most unpleasant thing i've put to my nose EVER. they could not pull off the oud, the only "animalic" is animal crap. the dry down is a bit better. at least it doesn't smell like poop anymore. it smells soapy and weird. wouldn't expect from a niche brand like this

As someone who loves Xerjoff Erba Gold, I went to smell Erba Pura Magica by Sospiro and loved it. Then, thinking it could only get better, I decided to put two sprays of Erba Oud by Sospiro on my wrist, which was probably the worst idea I’ve ever had. It immediately smelled like horse s***. I tried to rub it off in every possible way but didn’t succeed, so for the next hour, I smelled like horse s***.

I definitely picked up on the Melon but that Oud just ruins this for me. Its like sweaty locker room fruit lol. Because I'm a sadist I allowed it to dry down looking for some redemption and it does get better because the fruit notes evaporate away and just leaves a chill oud which I'm ok with. This frag just feels unnecessary. Like mixing oil and water or sweet and rancid. Just makes no sense to me.

Tried this off the shelf. First spray was like some feral animal rolled in fruit then crapped on my arm. The most pungent of oud, jarring against the fruit. Have no idea why they thought this would be a good combination. Make up your own mind but I cannot think of a single occasion where you would want to smell like this. At least it is unique.

Cannot believe this horrible creation is from Sospiro... I expected to see animalic notes like civet and listed, not so many fruity ones. This is worse than a public toilet after a drunken weekend. 🤢🤮 Couldn't get it out of my nostrils the whole day... 😵💫

You know that old lysol smell of school bathroom soap, or maybe in medical bathrooms... yeah, they nailed that smell. If you're used to already smelling like barn, then I totally understand how this could be an improvement.

There are very few perfumes that I put down as a hate for me. This one is among them. To me it’s just like a worn sock with a cockroache in it.

It’s feral, honestly could be the worst fragrance i’ve ever smelt, would say sample before buying but it’s not even worth sampling.

Tried this on a tester strip at a store u can feel the fruits a little but ur immedietally hit whit the smell of cow poo

Gave this a full wearing today to really test it out. The comments saying it smells fecal are beyond dramatic, and are indicative of a lack of an understanding of agarwood on behalf of the general frag community. Not all agarwood is barnyardy, not all barnyard agarwood is real. Also a barnyard aroma does not explicitly denote an Indian origin. Oudh is almost endlessly faceted and can smell like anything. I’ve even had pure artisanal Oudh smell minty or fruity. It’s not that simple as real oudh = sh*t. All that aside, this isn’t a barnyard oudh whatsoever. It’s also not a traditional western oudh in the sense it would be reminiscent of designer agarwood scents. There are disagreeable facets of it, but it’s more in line with being medicinal and rubbery. This in unison with the leather are probably in part responsible for that “gasoline” accord some people, including myself get from this. What you get from this opening to my nose is a fleshy orange and melon concoction with a quiet underlining of medicinal oudh. As the fruit notes simmer, the base comes more alive and the leather and agarwood come to the center stage and share the spotlight. What you’re left with is a stellar scent, with perfect contrast and a head turner. It’s so good.

The opening is a sharp skanky oud with the Erba DNA peaking out. This is what I was looking for: A male-targeted version of the Erba DNA. It's more than just soap and fruits this time, it has some animalic oud, leathery facets, saffron, and the Erba Magica DNA. If you're not shoving your face into your arm it smells amazing. Erba + HGH = Erba (p)oud People either weren't ready or didn't know what they were in for. This is some real animalic oud in here. What did you expect from a perfumer that has a long resume working with real oud? Not everything has to be that gentle, sweet, slightly incense, pat you on the back (commercial) oud. For me, Sospiro didn't disappoint with this one. I love the Erba DNA but always wanted something more, and I found it. I will come back after a few wears, but off first impression this is great. Let me tell you this though, it needs a half hour to breathe. Do not spray and immediately leave the house or someone will think you had an accident and sprayed on Erba Pura to cover your tracks. Once this dries, it's time to party. Like @Whateverwhocares wrote below, "weapons grade stuff here".

What is wrong with people here? How can you buy an oud fragrance and still only call it poop? This is surprisingly fresh and not animalic in the traditional sense. The way the oud is blended in this is really unique and different, unlike any 'barnyard " or "cheesy" oud. The best way to describe this is by imagining that a tetra pack of mixed fruit juice which has been cut open and is sitting on the counter for a couple of days, has started to go bad. You get the tinge of rotten sour acidic fruits. It's quite medicinal in the start, but after 10 minutes, it's back to being a rotting fruit juice. You get the strong oud notes for perhaps 5 minutes somewhere in the middle before it fades out. Extremely well blended, but tough to like because of its acidic smell. I give it a 6/10 (initial rating; will come back and rate again after a few months) Edit: about a month and a half later This grew on me. Weather didn't allow me to wear it much, but I'm quite fond of the acidic smell. The start isn't the best, but it's a good scent. 7.5/10.

Orange, melon, apples, and peach skin... What i got is the cold cocktail mentioned above with a touch of bergamot in an amber sheer glass. The oud is hazy, but you just KNOW that it is there! this also happened with "Pri Madonna" blend but with another note! the hazy thing! I never liked Erba when it was first released and over hyped because of its overly fruitti atmosphere. Erba oud is similar to that but bit dark with that musky woody touch that is supposed to be oud. Nice.

Great scent. For me is always very interesting that’s so many people writing here comments about perfumes and unfortunately so many stupid things the cow shit some of you mentioned is simply the real oud. So for me one thing is clear so many people writing here simply fake opinions which is far away from reality. Erba oud is a very nice mixture of erba Pura mixed with real oud. And as all sospiro, sillage is awsome here. One spray fills a whole hotel room. Great scent.

Blast of gorgeous fruits with heavy emphasis on sweet melon (smells similar to cantaloupe) with a contrasting subtly dirty smoky accord (the "oud"), same as the one found in Erba Leather but stronger, sadly grows stronger as it dries down taking away the strength of the fruits. I would love if they used this fruity accord in a brighter fragrance, I much prefer it to the one used in Erba Leather. Great performance

Was definitely not expecting such an over the top based perfume given the notes. It's really funky oud almost fecal like, smokey, and small hints of fruit in the background. It's not bad at all, actually reminds me of a way better version of matiere de noir by LV but more refined and longer lasting. Definitely sample because something is wrong with the notes on here, not a fruit cocktail at all, pure smokey oud!

Why I bought this is the question I keep asking myself. I was looking for funk and skank. And yes it has the skunk in abundance with the sweet fruity notes of Erba pura but sadly it has that gasoline note that lingers. Boy do I hate that gasoline note. It has ruined a perfectly good perfume for me. Now I have to sell or trade this. I have tried to love this. That gasoline note knocks me out the pack always.

It is all in the name: true to the OG plus oud. Very fruity animalic at first, but the strong funkiness dissipates quick. What I am left with is this very fruity/middle eastern combo in the drydown. Good projection and sillage. I kinda like it; not a love though. It reminds me of other oud fragrances I own.

Oud this skanky worn in public may cause people around you to be offended. Be aware. I couldn't handle it and I usually don't mind a mild touch of real oud. In the opening it goes well with the other notes but as soon as it gets into the mid it leans a bit fecal. Yuck

Absolutely beautiful fragrance. Fruity, woody, smoky and animalic. Smells like poop only to idiots. Insane longevity and projection, great for cooler days but also for summer as this leans very tropical and with a beachy feeling.

Smells like actual delicate horse shit. It's a horrible smell that brings back memories. 1/10 smell, 10/10 throwback
