White Camellia

As a devotee of the St. John suits, I had to try this fragrance when I was in their botique. Instantly fell in love and wore the fragrance layered over the body cream daily for quite some time. It's the perfect white floral with a bit of body underneath. Substantial, serious feminine and smells a bit expensive. Smells like country clubs and Palms Springs vacations.

I just finished my review for John Varvatos, and figured, I might as well review this as well. There is one component to the ensemble that seems synthetic, and makes this impossible for me to wear, which is tragic because I had a pristine vintage bottle that ended up selling way too cheap. I mention Varvatos, because the scents are so much the same, despite the radical difference in ingredients, that it is difficult not to lump them as a whole. Released in 1998, floral and "green notes" compose the body of this work. Cassis misbehaves, as it is typically prone to do, and jasmine exhibits idyllically pungent and unwary. Ultimately, White Camellia is a well played scent, just not for me.

Bought blind, and hate it. I was hoping for something that actually smells like a camellia (many say they have no scent, but it's really just a very light, white-green floral/grassy smell--delightful). This is mostly sweetened-up geranium slathered over some bittered-down bark. So 90s, not in the good way--bitter and somehow herbally nauseating. So disappointed! Maybe it'll be better on another skin chemistry.

Enjoy the floral. Its classic...I layer both creme and fragrance. You cannot find this everywhere, or worn by everyone... I found it as a Spiegel shopper.
