Panthea

Panthea in Greek means: of all the gods, and this wonderful fragrance actually possesses otherworldly nuances: the juicy and citrusy opening gives space to a splendid Iris expertly framed by violet and jasmine, which dilute its dustiness and slowly bring it to be clean and crystal clear. Here you have the purity of a place, of the soul, of a feeling, and I feel like mentioning a character who is its effigy, and who coincidentally has the same name as this splendid fragrance. Xenophon's Pantea (from Cyropedia) was the wife of Abradates who, wanting to make him even more worthy to go to war, deprived herself of all his jewels and made a helmet, armor and cloak. Their beautiful words are: “Certainly you, my wife, have not discarded your ornament to make me these weapons?”. "For Giove - Pantea answered him - certainly not the most precious one; because, if you also appear to others to be what you appear to me, you will be the most precious ornament for me." While she said these things she clad him in weapons and tried not to let himself be seen, but her tears rolled down her cheeks. Beautiful, a must have and feel.

This starts out with a very attractive and creative combination of laundry smells and 'clean' smells rendered in high quality materials, then evolves into a sensual complex dry floral heart. Great projection, sillage and longevity. It has a suggestive, slightly dirty undertone, gets slightly sweeter and better and better as it dries down into a gorgeous musky tonka blend. It reads as an evening perfume. I have never smelled a white aldehydic floral so 'fabulous' and evocative for me of my youth, when going out to parties at art galleries, movie premieres, formal soirees for Broadway shows and charities were places to see people and be seen. It's very sophisticated but is truly modern and playful at the same time- this doesn't smell like 1980s or 90s, it just recalls that time. An excellent perfume. It takes a master to render something like this.

Oh my. This projects...in the best possible way. It’s not beast mode, but you’re going to enter that room and make a statement. This is a clean, musky, even aldehydic for me (in the opening), floral scent. It’s womanly and elegant; it’s classy and refined. There’s a hint of vintage in there, but it’s subtle and stays modern. Something smells sterile, but it’s enveloping at the same time. It reminds me of Xerjoff Apollonia (similar feel). I’ll need to try this again, but so far I like it a lot. Although it has a strong initial stage, the dry down smells like the colour white, evokes something pure or maternal. That’s not to say it’s for mature women; I just mean it reminds me of a mother’s loving arms. It’s soothing.

Panthea is a beautiful,sunny,semi-aquatic/floral fragrance. Particularly its development with the violet in the background with aquatic and floral accents, very beautiful for spring! I love this perfume, it's very comfortable! Beautiful note of Iris, gives a "dusty" touch to the scent that makes it really special. Very beautifull! I don't know where are you getting the notes from, but there's no patchouli in Panthea. If you don't trust Fragrantica's note breakdown, do your own basic research and go to the official website. This is the megablast of musk! It is amazing and very very strong! Got if for my wife and she loves it but go easy on the trigger.

What a beautiful smell. Top: Tart citrus. Silver needle tea. Dry green tobacco. Dark iris. Indolic jasmine. Heart: Dry, sweet purple flowers. Fleshy white flowers. Glazed little fingers. Haystacks. Lit tobacco. Orris. Dry-down: Clean, dry earth. Creamy woods. Fading dark flowers. Average performance and durability. The intensity of the flowers drops off after the first half-hour. Skews feminine. Overall, an intensely beautiful smell befitting a modern goddess. Panthea dries and darkens as the opening finishes. The flowers in the heart are multifaceted and realistic, much better presented than designer bouquets. The dry down is clean yet sensual, providing Panthea with enigmatic appeal. Very attractive to my nose. It would be a joy to smell this on a woman.

A nice Floriental bearing the SHL stamp all over it, Panthea opens up with fresh notes of bergamot and tangerine. These then fade out to reveal the floral heart which is composed of iris, jasmine and violet. Finally, as it fully settles on your skin, it reveals notes of white musk, tobacco leaf, tonka bean and sandalwood. The feminine leaning perfume has moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. Recommended for lovers of musky florals and exotic Orientals. One of this perfumers lesser works but very pleasing and evocative. Enjoy!

The tonka in this is almost edible and I love the deep, musky iris. It’s a new sample which I’m definitely going to use up. I have a feeling my husband will love this, and it’s the sort of thing that wears well on him too, so we will probably get it either way :) it’s early days, but the first experience is very favourable, especially because I can see this working brilliantly in Spooky Season.

The most beautiful fresh floral that reminds me of the most luxurious soap ever created. That isnt a bad thing at all. A clean beauty not like anything on the market and a total departure from the humbert lucas base. If other releases did not work for you..this well could.

If you want something similar, try Narciso Rouge ... It doesn't have the same fresh notes in the opening (mandarins, perhaps?) from Panthea and of course, in Narciso Rouge the 🌹 is quite noticeable, but it has a similar vibe at a fraction of the price.

Very nice skin scent, but it does not last.

I love this brand and always enjoy their refreshingly alternative take on orientals, but this is their most generically feminine fragrance. It’s nicely made and beautifully blended, but I feel I’ve just sprayed a random woman’s scent from the airport duty free. It’s musky, floral, iris dominant and rather conservative. It’s your safest (gateway drug) entry-point scent into this house.

Smells about 20% like XJ 1861 Naxos. Soft & Warm slightly feminine vibe. Sprayed it on a female in my house and it radiated quite nicely from her for a few hours. Sprayed it on myself (m) and it didn't seem to project or have the same effect.

Really ugly dirty pink pepper spicy elemi resinous opening, with some flat white tea and a bit of orange peel. Bizarre. Dense and dirty musky feel. Sweaty spicy heavy damp feeling florals with no headspace. I don't like the carroty iris, indolic jasmine, carnation mix. I'm getting a flat vegetal of wilted flowers here. The tobacco leaf just makes things dirty in an inelegant stale cigarette sort of way. The tonka bean doesn't do much but thicken the wilted vegetation. Sandalwood is weak and pale here. The patchouli is stale and moldy and thin. It is unfortunate that I am getting everything I dislike about every single note I detect in here on my skin. Uninteresting and unattractive. I don't hate it. It doesn't elicit any strong response since all the notes are weak by themselves and in tandem. It's not too sweet, but what sweet there is smells sickly to me. Taken all together I get a kind of insecticide synthetic odor. I just really dislike this.

Just smells like a generic women’s perfume from the late 90s. Weak projection, gave it multiple tries on my skin as well. I mostly get iris and musk, reminds me of a powdery soft floral YSL or Chanel body cream. Disappointed with this SHL777 sample I got, the house is usually more creative so I had higher expectations when trying it, especially what a fragrance named “Panthea” would be like. Panthea lacks personality. It's there, but it's hard to tell what it really smells like because it is kind of bland. There's an annoying pencil shaving note that lingers for hours. The iris doesn't do anything for me in comparison to so many magnificent iris perfumes in my collection. Either there is not much iris in here, or maybe it's synthetic. I get no tobacco at all, but do notice a subtle balsamic quality, probably tonka bean. I was hoping for more than it delivered.

"very very strong" Really? I am putting my wrist up to get the scent.. I don't think its strong.... Powder is top note for me. Then floral musk. I don't prefer this scent because of the powder note.

Panthea is an ultra-refined violet white-musk fragrance, which is given the very slightest embellishment of spicy edges naturally by pairing the violet at the very periphery of this fragrance with Tonka and Tobacco. The citrus is here to convince one the depth of the white-musk. The Iris in here is a cool and almost 'refrigerated' note that helps add to the 'refined' quality beaming from every aspect of this fragrance. The patchouli adds to a slew of other notes (detectable to me are sandalwood, elemi, white tea, and carrot) to create a creamy, soapy quality of the utmost sophisticated nature. Truly marvelous - could be the luxe flanker to Narciso Rodriguez for Men if the Musc Oil hadn't already claimed that title. 7.5/10 YT: Jess AndWesH

Trying this out again, just in case I've changed my mind on it, and I haven't... The musks, iris and violet are amazingly well blended and levelled, but for me the citruses just DO NOT belong at all. It softens the overall scent WAAAY too much. It humanises it, in fact, it kind of makes it too 'generic' for mine. Ruined. I wish there was a LOT less citrus as it's just too, well, bland. The scent had a LOT of potential, and it smells beautiful, but had there been NO citrus it would've gone off into a new direction and occupied the kind of territory I love. It's still beautiful, just a little too normal for my weird tastes...

Orange white floral musk. White floral musky blend with iris and violets. It's not sour nor animalic, just a white floral mildly sour blend. When it cools down the game begins as it become quite interesting with it's slightly musky, it's mildly orange citrus and crispy vanilla. I can sense the sweetness that is quite balanced and very amusing. It's a tender blend, and good vanilla citrus musk blend. Edit (8th Aug 2017) This is airy! watery and airy. White floral and slightly orange is there. And eventually it goes quite soapy, but think foam soap.

Just a quick clarification: the correct notes (according to the official site) are the ones @SebaM83 has listed. They are wrong here on Fragrantica for both (Panthea and Panthea Iris) - none has the tobacco note, while some other notes are missing. However, notes are NOT ingredients, and there IS patchouli in both of this two fragrances: whenever you see POGOSTEMON CABLIN OIL listed - that's patchouli (and might have been used to create that "tobacco" note).

Stephane Humbert Lucas has created another wonderful fragrance. It is not one that stands out as a masterpiece, but it will be something to wear during the day that will appeal to almost anyone within its moderate sillage. There are much more expensive takes on this set of notes and scent trail, but this one beats most of them and will make a wearer feel confident and bathed in its many fine notes. I find it unisex and classy.

A very pleasant floral musk. It smells generically of florals, and I don't pick out anything in particular. Office friendly and people will think you smell like soap, but you can get this general effect with a much cheaper perfume. Panthea Iris, on the other hand, is heavenly.

Floral musky but woody and blends in perfectly. Unisex musky floral perfume for all because some notes felt a bit masculine and the floral notes felt feminine. I agree on the comments refering this perfumes as a well-made iris soap.

Panthea is quite a soft, delicate floral that doesn't push too hard. A lot of purple, but it's quite understated. Totally not my thing, but I can see the right person really pull this one off...

I feel like this is the millionth fragrance that I'm learning contains notes (like patchouli) from reviewers, rather than the olfactive pyramid. Fragrantica, PLEASE get it together!! 😩

This is not a unisex perfume! It is far too feminine. To me this is what an old peoples home would smell like. With a lot of blue rinse old ladys who keep saying "oh young man"

Great soapy clean scent with some citrus florals and musk just a perfect dumb grab scent with moderate performance and can wear it absolutely anywhere

Reminds me of MFK compositions. But in another realm: very natural ingredients. A breath of fresh air!
