Lost In Flowers

"The thrill of new love," "electric moment of discovery," "ethereal and profound," "free-spirited passion," "intoxicating joy," "lost in time, lost in romance, lostinflowers." The prose is a touch on the purple side, but then again so is lostinflowers. I don't find myself lost to what the description says it should be doing to me. The part of the description that made me smirk was "intoxicating joy" since I find more than a little overlap with the floral legend Joy by Jean Patou. This is not a bad thing for me at all, Joy is one of my all time favorite perfumes, nor do I smell derivation and find myself wanting to deduct points from lostinflowers. Though its personality is achingly familiar it is not a twin nor a trite facsimile. Joy takes me on a magic carpet ride of rose and jasmine, and lostinflowers takes me on a magic carpet ride of gardenia and jasmine. Thrilling, yes. Electric, yes. Ethereal and profound, yes. Intoxicating joy, yes (a pun may or may not be intended). The substitution of gardenia for rose makes this magic carpet ride noticeably more... lewd. A nude, sexy magic carpet ride. Rated R compared to Joy's PG-13. Champaca greets you, also called joy oil in India (imagine that), creating a rich, thick, golden, musky, and fruity honeyed floral accord that has a bassy sublayer of tannicky indoles. A bit of muguet brings wateriness and unctuousness, a humidity like warm breath down your neck, critical to the thick and rich feeling, and a sweet hay-like saffron helps with the soft green inflections and woody elegance. It is a stunning champaca material. I've smelled champaca in perfumery numerous times, but nothing like this; lostinflowers makes you want to call those other champaca materials phony. It's breadth, length and depth, and intensity of this broad spectrum of floral notes is breathtaking. A bit of dirty spice, musk, and salty flesh - and sex - waits fervently in the background, losing its patience and restraint to jump your bones. When it can finally resist no more the gardenia enfleurage is on top of you and the magic carpet's climactic ride builds. It is an onslaught floral amalgam with strings of the champaca still remaining, heady jasmine, and the star gardenia. Slight salty, slightly sweaty, and slightly dirty skin and up-close-and-personal fleshy warmth; raw animalic cream, pungent honey, and slightly funky earthy figs; humid, biological, and slightly metallic salivary textures. The senses of smell, touch, and taste are in overdrive, the imagination goes wild. This is a day dream that is NSFW. The oud makes itself more apparent in the final skin scent with deep, dark, resinous and oily woods. It's a very well behaved oud - well, insomuch as lostinflowers can be well behaved - by not presenting any medicinal notes, but yet an odd sour and earth floralcy, and only a minimal amount of animalic/fecal/barnyard aspects, probably having contributed what it could to the gardenia in earlier stages. lostinflowers is a trip, like the rush of dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins during... well, you know. It feels like a drug rush, a near-hallucinogenic magic carpet ride of a type suiting whatever your imagination thinks that should entail. It is a gorgeous perfume. But now for the elephant in the room. A big, amorous, red, yellow, white, floral adorned elephant.... As of today, 100mL of lostinflowers will set you back nearly USD$1000.... I understand that the gardenia and champaca used in this perfume are of superb quality and most certainly eye-wateringly expensive in themselves, but you are either mad or very wealthy to splash that amount of cash for 100mL of anything. For that price a perfume needs to be the font of virile youth, not a soft-core magic carpet ride. You could buy many, many bottles of vintage Joy Extrait in pristine condition for that price... so why wouldn't you? To be honest, I would. I would rather spend that money to have a lifetime's worth of Joy Extrait than one bottle of lostinflowers. I guess then, this is more like an unforgettable and electrifying tryst than a lifelong romantic love affair. Once my sample runs out I'll be sad and yearning, but then I'll see my faithful soulmate Joy, already forgiving of my daliance and ready to welcome me back, and I'll be just fine.

Christophe Laudamiel you fucking genius. There are other white florals out there (e. g. , Do Son, Tuberose by Diptyque which I also adore) that to me are "prettiness" luxury, polish and control and do not have any edge or mystery or earthiness in them. Lost in Flowers is completely different - it feels lush and humid and so, so potent and heady and over-blooming, almost suffocatingly, in the most divine way, like being caught in the center of an ancient conservatory at night while the flowers are at their most riotously blooming, full of indolic heat. I adore how far past prettiness the fragrance goes. Jasmine - the star of the show, truly. It does not smell like jasmine bouquets, but living flowers radiating that characteristic indole aroma, fleshy, warm, musky and bordering on animalic in the opening. It is not ethereal and clean but a thick, creamy bloom radiating heat and the tuberose and other white flowers really make it take the center stage, creating that beautiful explosion in the center of the composition. Champaca here really pushes it into a more tropical territory. The creaminess and golden touch that the champaca lends, along with that almost solar fruity touch, transform this into a deeply tropical-smelling flower symphony saturated with a moist, humid atmosphere. The oud beneath that is what sells it. Lost in Flowers has a subtle, resinous, slightly medicinal (in a good way) oud that works almost like a dark shadow in the background. It adds depth, sensuality and the sense of something darker and more narcotic at its core, which I love in fragrances. Otherwise, it would be just another luscious white floral. So, instead of pure flowers that feel ethereal, there is an incredible contrast: lush, narcotic and tropical blooms floating above this rich, dark, woody-resinous layer that grounds the fragrance. The oud adds warmth, mystery and a sort of dark, velvet undercurrent, making the white floral explosion feel even more luxurious and intimate on the skin. As it wears down on the skin, all of these elements start melding and blend into this smoky, creamy, golden and sensual skin scent. Many white florals feel controlled, composed and carefully structured in my experience and I find myself wanting to be overwhelmed, suffocated, surrounded by florals. Lost in Flowers manages that in a really artistic and unique way, while it completely envelops you, it never feels chaotic or messy, elegant in its overwhelming abundance. For me, it is the single finest white floral that I have ever experienced and subsequently one that I own. Too few white florals really strike me as truly tropical, alive, emotional and immersive. They often fall too clean, too mature, too controlled and too predictable for me. While this fragrance has maturity and a refined structure that comes with the oud, it fully embraces the over-the-top narcotic richness of these blooms without apology. Lost in Flowers feels wild and uncontrolled yet luxurious. Definitely one of the most intoxicating floral perfumes that I have smelled or tried. My personal rating: 10/10, the best white floral fragrance I have ever tried to date.

Reviewing a bottle from 2024. Lost In Flowers EDP was launched in 2018. Forget the typical oud & rose cliche. Lost In Flowers is a remarkable unique floral oud that dismisses preconceived notions of what a floral oud can or should be. This opens with a cacophany of bitter and aromatic herbs (tagetes +cardamon) brightened with Lily of the Valley. The tame Indian oud is noticeable from the start adding depth without overpowering animalics or funk. The green gardenia is extraordinary but for me it is the Champaca with its intensely deep floral ,sweet tropical fruitiness that steals the show.There are warm clove , golden pollen nuances before it settles into a smooth, and comforting base of sweet hay, dried fruits, oakmoss with a hint of leather. It seems to me a representation of wild and rugged nature as one might find with Parfum D'Empire fragrances with the warm life force of natural perfumery as found in Hiram Green. Expensive for 2018 but what with today's ridiculous prices for designer dross it is not unreasonable. Quality 5/5 exceptional materials and blending (kuddos to Christophe Laudamiel) Unisex - this is not a "pretty" floral Performance 5/5 - one drop is all you need Lost in Flowers is a wild and unconstrained floral anchored but not bludgeoned by a restrained use of oud. The oud is lost in these gorgeous flowers and you will be too. 10/10

Absolutely stunning unisex floral perfume. Top 5 Floral compositions I have ever tried without a doubt. High-quality ingredients and impeccable blending from Laudamiel. Wearing this one feels like sitting in a greenhouse, a huge floral garden, or being in a hot and humid climate like in Southeast Asian countries, where you occasionally will smell these tropical florals like Champaca as the humidity and the heat allow the scent to permeate the air. There are some spices in the opening, a bit of a leathery touch from the Safforn, and then the big, lush floral bouquet hits you. Very difficult to separate the floral notes, as they truly come together as a bouquet, but I can definitely pinpoint Lily of the Valley, Jasmine, and Champaca. Every aspect of the flowers is captured here, the green, the indolic, the tart, the sweet, the milky, everything. It's like a Botanics course on florals. The Oud is not prominent nor dirty. It provides a solid base to ground the florals, together with the Oakmoss. Overall, a 3D floral experience, with some spices in the opening, and a green/tart earthy base. Totally unisex, natural smelling, and very luxurious. It is pretty linear, but it delivers what it promises. This one and Silence the Sea are the standouts for me. Definitely overpriced but one can find these discounted quite often.

Lost in Flowers (lostinflowers) truly is one of the most gorgeous juicy, ripe, bright-yet-humid, happy-yet-explicit, summery-but-all-seasons florals. Never want to be without it. I get an almost botanical emulsion of citrusy cardamom and fruit (could be a trick of some brighter floral materials), banana-y ylang, jasmine, champaca (with all its complexities), and even some fresh-cut grass, along with what I consider a tame, woody oud, possibly supported by a sandalwood material I associate with Mr. Laudamiel: Bacdanol. Now, I definitely don’t want to weigh down the Fragrantica page of such a lovely artistic expression with internet nonsense. But as they say: “I’ve got time today” lol. I wanted to help @mariustao with his inquiry below. @mariustao, sometimes people are moved by a fragrance enough to want to share their (perhaps many) thoughts and feelings with fellow enthusiasts. At times it is heartbreaking, at others it transports us to another dimension, an ethereal, paradisiacal one, made up of flower petals floating around us and isolating us from the world with their inebriating perfume. Estrange ourselves from everything and perceive only the velvety touch of flowers. A moment that we live in the present and that we will enjoy remembering, however it goes, in the future. It is that feeling for which so many people change their lives, give up something, cancel themselves out... whether it is worth it or not is not for me to say, but it is undoubtedly beautiful, an integral part of the human being who is always searching for it. Lost in Flowers wants to catch this moment, with a very high quality oud at its base, surrounded by a green, non-sweet floral part, with Champaca, one of the aphrodisiac flowers par excellence, as its protagonist. A very particular perfume, with great personality, absolutely to be smelled and of which I do not recommend the blind buy, as it is really full structured. This masterpiece is an Oriental Floral fragrance. Without a doubt the most beautiful flowery scent in my collection hands down!🥇 An amazing explosion of flowers!🌸🌼🌺🌸🌼 The opening is a spectacular fireworks display of yellow flowers, probably champaca, which gives the impression of banana.🍌🌼🍌😊 Then the jasmine sambac comes into play with the saffron to bring a vintage and clean ambiance. These florals notes were masterfully blended to the point that you can hardly detect them individually. It is as if you were drinking a smooth and tasty fruit nectar whose flavors come up to your nose and make you smile.😁 The subtle but present note of agarwood is dosed so well to balance the fragrance and give it its timeless vintage aspect that I really love!👍🏽👍🏽 This composition is splendid and harmonious and I am so thankful to have had the privilege to smell and wear this masterpiece.🤲🏽🧡 If this perfume was a painting, it would have represented a couple sitting on the grass enjoying an organic fruit cocktail during a beautiful bright, sunny and smiling summer day in a heavenly garden.😊🎨🏞 Don’t even ask about performance on this one, it’s great!😊

One of the more compelling florals I've smelled recently, a dance between the sweet/green (eventually morphing into indolic) facets of champaca, jasmine, and gardenia, and the sweaty, blue cheese-ey funk of oud. It's not very polite, but it is incredibly elegant, a kind of "horse-girl perfume" in the manner of Cuir de Russie, Cuir de Lancome, and Patchouli 24, only with oud instead of leather supplying the barnyard. There's a metallic quality running through this as well, which reminds me in some ways of how Joy ultimately smells not just of flowers, but of flowers rotting in their vase water. But Joy can still be had at reasonable prices while this is pretty spendy, due in large part I'm sure to the cost of its gardenia enfleurage. It's a great gardenia for sure, but beautiful gardenias do exist elsewhere, most notably in Estée Lauder's Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia, again at half the cost. So for now I'll have to leave this one be. But it was fun while my sample lasted.

Incredibly natural, photorealistic field of flowers. Bright fresh florals with a green touch, creamy and modestly pollinic, plus a faint spicy pop. The oud merely provides a soft woody backbone and an added airiness combined with the jasmine. Picks up a prominent banana-like accord from the champaca as it dries down. Moderately strong projection for 3-4hr, longevity 8-10hr. I'm not sure something this blatantly, purely floral is my jam but it's so realistic that I can't help but really like it. Like frolicking in a field of flowers: you get the floral smells, the pollen is hitting your nose, the greenness of the grass and the flower stems, and there's a handful of fragrant woody trees scattered across the landscape. There's a faint hint of indole, as might be expected of a pollinic floral overload especially jasmine. That's the closest I get to any sort of "fecal" smell here, as the oud has minimal presence. As authentic as it gets without being real.

Well I remember in my lifetime most of my favourite fragrances are of acquired taste A lot of them I like them same as the next guy but the true loves are strange compared to peoples preferences For example one of the best fragrance houses in my opinion is nasomatto for people their favourite is either pardon or black afgano a smeller audience love duro me on the other hand my true love and gem is fantomas in this brand I felt exactly like that Tried most of their scents this one is my favourite and I dare say one of the best floral scents I’ve smelled in my whole journey and let tell you it’s a milestone by itself I would’ve loved if just projected a little more but as long as the performance is good I’m ok with it Although everything form this house is overpriced so his one almost deserves the price if not for anything but for creativity alone I loved it truly and most probably it will stay in my rotation

There’s only one word to describe LostinFlowers - beautiful. This scent is Lily-of-the-valley to the extreme, in all its delicate and elegant glory. Everything is wonderfully balanced and not as dark or messy as you might imagine. This fragrance is dominated by lily-of-the-valley. It captures all the incredible facets of this beautiful flower: the pure white soapiness, the green vegetal touches and the airy sweetness all in one. There’s slight hints of a spicy, aromatic and herbal base with slight woody nuances but overall this scent is very straightforward, executed perfectly. Creamy, smooth, bright and airy are the adjectives which come to mind as I wear this. The oud isn’t nearly as prominent as you’d think, and the quality of the Lily-of-the-valley rivals even the best on the market such as Les Clochettes du Bonheur. Incredible perfume.

Kudos to those who attempted to describe this odd, magical scent. It's floral, medicinal, cacophonous, and yet it settles into the skin like a dream. It smells like some weird, alternate universe version of warm skin if humans, wood nymphs, and cyborgs produced offspring. It has all of the hallmarks of a traditional floral, but there are these alien elements that I can't ascribe to any of its particular notes. At the same time, there's nothing contrived about its eccentricity, and it's wearable - addictive, even - though quietly strange. I don't quite understand it, but I find it utterly compelling. It's rare that I think outrageously-priced perfumes justify the cost, but to my nose, this is worth every penny.

Gorgeous flower power with a light Oud backup, singing in harmony. I don’t pick out the individual notes —except for the marigold— and the overall arrangement feels like a modern mix. The opening has something a little spicy, and the base, at times, smells like a classic old school barbershop scent. But that is just a fraction of the total experience. Everything feels like quality... a little goes a long way. Sample is a decant from Luckyscent, dauber style. I can only imagine how the spray would work, as it disperses the scent in a wider swath. Absolutely stunning.

All Strangelove perfumes are superbly blended and this one is not an exception. A top quality warm floral, not a white floral but a very complex and dense floral like a perfume shop in the 90s with all the floral perfumes (Poeme, Champs Elysee, Dolce Vita, Dune) sprayed there. If you want to exude that warm femininity, this would make a perfect daytime scent for a date in winter.

One of the most beautiful floral I've ever tested ! The oud and all the floral notes are balanced with talent, resulting in a comforting, carnal fragrance thanks to the oud. I'm a man but he can lean a bit more towards the feminine but layering with Deadofnight turns him into a brutal, sexy beast! Sample first as the entire line

I love this perfume. It's a glorious explosion of crazy floral art. The oud takes a back seat in this one. This layers dazzlingly well with Fall Into Stars. I'd go as far as to say the two of them combined is the most divine scent I've ever experienced.

I own Shalini Jardin Nocturne and Strangelove NYC lost in flowers. I don't see any similarities in them. Both are heavy on florals yet both are different. I would prefer Lost in Flowers during day time and Jardin Nocturne during night.

is it ludicrously expensive? yes. is it very feminine? yes. am i a man of very large stature and a menacing look with a big beard? yes. do i want to wear this everyday everywhere? absolutely. beautiful. a masterpiece.

I loved this one from the first sniff. Explosion of flowers, well blended, oud is very subtle, you can't almost not get it. Dry down is very nicely flowery gardenia.

Just unbelievably beautiful. To smell real oud is a special experience. The quality of ingredients in Lost In Flowers is obvious. Intoxicating from start to finish.
