Lumberjack Cologne

(sample only) I received this sample around the time it was discontinued (I think) and... I loved. I mean loved this scent. For me - nice gasoline opening that mellows out the a super masculine woody scent. like working in a slightly damp shed, heated by a crappy generator, and cutting fresh wood that's leaking out potent resin. But you also have been drinking a lovely light mocktail this whole time - and yet the generator lingers in the back. Despite that description, this is not an aggressive scent. In fact, it's gentle. Which is divine for me - what better wish than to smell as good as petrol, but still seem approachable and nice. It balances safe and unique brilliantly. If this was still in production... it would be my signature. Any dupes / similars would be appreciated. 10/10 - idc, that's my jam.

This is very safe compared to some of the other samples in the latest batch I got. Even as a newcomer to this field I can appreciate the quality of the natural ingredients. Anyway, don't trust my nose, but with the first whiff I thought 'this reminds me of something'....finally I realized that it reminds of the 'medicinal'+smoky smell of Islay single-malt scotch such as Laphroaig. I haven't drunk that in a couple of decades so it's a distant memory. I'm not sure where I'm getting that from other than the smoke note.

Fantastic petrol-like smell merged with bright citrus notes. Good bit of oakmoss and leather in the dry down to ensure this has plenty of heft from beginning to end. I am forever in search of an addictive petrol fragrance and this one does a pretty decent job of fulfilling my needs. Great perfume as art yet entirely wearable

I was expecting this to be much rougher around the edges. I actually find it quite smooth and warm, with dry woods, leather, and light citruses. Softly masculine. Really liking this one. The dry down I find strangely sexy yet comforting- like your boyfriend's t-shirt that still smells like him.

This is a well balanced, office safe, masculine leaning fragrance. I would describe the opening as "warm wood citrus" and if I were to assign a color it would be a warm yellow or ochre. The two strips of color on the bottle label actually are a pretty good representation, but I say ochre to include a bit more earth into the mix. The citrus and freshness is balanced very quickly with a subtle woody/earthiness but not in a sharp way. I would say it is a very mellow, smooth woodiness- almost creamy but not like sandalwood or with any vanilla sweetness. It is very pleasant to my nose. Easy going, classic vibes that leans towards a more alert daytime fragrance. The term lumberjack could maybe conjure scents of green and pine groves, but this is not that. No leaves or conifer needles to be found here. I see oakmoss is listed, but that never jumps out to me, though I don't doubt it's in the mix somewhere. To my nose, this does not have powerful sillage or projection...but that is a good thing. I am also sampling from a small .7ml bottle without an atomizer. I feel an atomizer might change the experience and boost the sillage. Either way, this is not overbearing, but I get little wiffs as the hours drift by and my skin warms it up. I would recommend this to someone looking for a versatile, masculine (although I really think the right person of any gender could pull this off), daytime fragrance that is classic in a way that does not smell derivative or like a generic men's cologne. Get a sample, because scent is so subjective and I don't think blind buys are ever a good idea unless you have money to burn. UPDATE: I ended up getting full bottle of this. Highly recommend. I wore it yesterday in 90 degree humid weather and did one spray on my chest, under shirt. I got several compliments on from folks after a hug, and caught nice subtle whiffs for the whole day. The blend of fresh citrus, and wood notes is perfect. Basically a very modern, natural smelling, well blended classic fragrance. Also, I initially said "firmly masculine" and I would like to rescind that. I think this could work on any gender. It's citrusy, with a well-rounded woody depth- absent of any florals, sweetness, or powderiness. If you like bright fresh citrus, with the depth of smooth, multi-faceted woods, give this a shot.
