Wow. A gorgeous new scent and the reviews already diss. Ozy34 is the most respectable though I did not have his experience and did not get the overly complicated reactions. I would only agree in that this scent has a few hours maybe 4-5 at most where the scent then switches off. What I get is a gorgeous Citrus - predominantly syrupy lemon and neroli over a dark green base which is herbal reminding me of tarragon, clary sage etc in fact like a classic barbershop scent. In fact it inspired me to spray my other arm with Santa Eulalia Citric, very similar except the yellow cirtrus is replaced by a green sweeter citrus I.e lime etc. Both of these are infact to me a re interpretation of my fave Eau Sauvage EDT. Citric is easily better in fact and more wearable, this is more complex as is indicated by the note table and very much feels that. It is not as strong as Citric or even Eau Sauvage EDT or EDP In longevity and in the long drydown in Sillage but when it does perform it is arguably the most delicious. It is the weaker in longevity in this brands line up but it Is still adherent to the brands ethos and I still find it as another breath of fresh air. If you like perfumes along this line and are not interested in a scent that needs to bowl passers by over but rather a gorgeous complex scent that you can’t stop sniffing then you will be happy to give this one at least a sample.

I am wearing Oliver for three days in a row now and, as the previous reviewer said, this fragrance is more than it seems at the very beginning. It starts with very fresh blast of mint, petit grain and a pinch of sea salt, reminding me a bit more bitter and less realistic mojito accord of Etat Libre d'Orange's You or Someone Like You. After 30 mins more soapy and bitter aspects become more prominent. I think that bitterness comes from orange blossoms, clary sage and patchouli oakmoss mix, which is very classical, though no way dated. For me the magic happens in the heat: sweet, dry fruity and flowery tabacco and warm spicy leather become delicately smellable, making the whole composition green lustrous but also cozy and sensuous. There is a generation gap captured in this fragrance. The older world and one yet to come collide in a very gentle way. It is great. I think that those who like the fougeres and chypres of the 80's, but looking for a modern twist might like it. Leaning more masculine, but I can easily imagine a women wearing this. Office friendly, and friendly in general. though with lots of character as for a summer fragrance. Sillage is moderate, longevity 6+ hours, becoming a skin scent later that lasts all day.

Sampling Strangers Parfumerie Oliver, which primarily has a citrus/floral blend at the center—clean, fresh, slightly sweet. This has a lengthy note list but I get a mix of magnolia, mint, sea salt, grapefruit, pink pepper, oakmoss, olive, petitigrain, sandalwood, and “clean shirt.” It’s quite multifaceted, a lot of outdoorsy vibes with something restrained, with the clean linen shirt vibe bringing me back indoors after a minty opening. Overall, it’s a very agreeable medley without jumping off the page, genre-wise, except it’s so clearly expertly blended, a virtual symphony of notes all harmonizing so well, yielding a highly versatile, year-round concept that would work just as well relaxing as out and about, trying to impress. A staple sort of unisex signature scent that’s quite a departure from the other freshie, the sweet & tart Yuzu Soda, which I tried yesterday, and its’ great to have another warm-weather-friendly option from this house that I continue to be very impressed by. Certainly this doesn’t perform as well as some of the heavier gourmands but it’s still pretty sturdy, in my opinion. Oliver has the line’s standard EDP pricing, at $80 for 30ml, and is sold by Luckyscent and Indiescents. 8 out of 10

A little zesty/spicy, a lot fresh and sort of smells like it should be some sort of fancy cocktail out on a beach or a garden bar or something. It leans a little powder-y after an hour or two, which I don't normally like at all in fragrances, but it's got so much going on that I don't mind that undertone of powder at all, and only notice it cause I'm constantly sniffing my arm trying to see what else pops out. It loses a lot of the "complexity" some have noted it to have pretty quickly, but it smells great hours later (I agree with reviews lower down, I think it's 4-5 hours max) even if you can't quite pick out what you're smelling. I don't think it's super complex or hard to wear (once you lose that "depth" it's sort of just a nice fresh herbal soap or detergent smell, basically, and that's not going to stand out as super outlandish or weird to people sniffing you as they walk by), and could work well in an office setting, but it might depend on the season and the climate of where you're at.

This smells beautiful. As if you were sitting under an orange tree dappled in sunlight which was, impossibly, bearing both fruit and flowers at the same time. The magnolia and cypress back up the fruit notes to create that realistic orange tree smell. Evokes the movie Call Me By My Name, while also being a brilliant, wearable fragrance. Bravo.

very moving #tome, makes me feel like im on vacation. i imagine im at a restaurant table by the water with an orangina and somebody's cig smoke settles into the leather jacket i'm wearing. it's fleeting and bittersweet, like the movie

The notes here make it seem like a typical summer freshie but then the subtle notes come in and the fragrance develops. It is far far more than it seems.

Opens with a mojito artfully blended with a blast of citrus bias, then we start transitioning to the like-for-like florals for the citrus sensation—clary sage, orange blossom, and magnolia is all artfully blended to provide this continuum. Arguably though, it’s the quince-magnolia that’s commonly used as a heart note in perfumery that provides this true continuation of the citrus sensation; without it, it would be just another bright floral profile. It doesn’t read like a run-of-the-mill citrus frag—something a bit different than what you’d find in Bergamask by Orto Parisi, something a bit more masculine leaning that doesn’t necessarily scream for attention—it doesn’t have to. It does have a powdery bias from some of the florals, but not as forward as the quince here. Despite various florals being married into this profile, this is still a citrus forward frag even looking at the linden blossom here it’s not really prominent as you’d expect. In fact, “floral” here in this profile isn’t prominent at all, it’s done so well to help convey the citrus sensation. I’m not particularly keen on citrus frags in general, though a small exception was made for Moroccan Leather by Memo Paris only because it features an abstract leather as well, I still think this is a really well done citrus frag. Not FBW for me, but definitely a must try for lovers of this genre of frags.

A bright white floral and grassy herbal citrus in the initial spray. A lot of petitgrain and orange blossom to my nose. The opening operates very much on the upper register, this is a beam of bright light to beat the hottest summer day. Given a few minutes, it seems to sweeten just a hair. I definitely smell the gentle liquor inflections of an icy mojito and citrus-y laundry detergent vibes. None of these ideas jut out or fight one another, they blend seamlessly together. I crave even more mint. Oliver is a melange of uplifting colors — pale green, bright white; it is citric and fruity and ultra clean. And despite its theme seemingly being very modern, I think it is a competent nod to a pretty old style of citrus aromatic eau de colognes. 8.2/10

wish id discovered this in the summer because it just makes me feel nostalgic now - love the initial blast of fun mojito and citrus that mellows over time and becomes enveloped in the gorgeous heat scents like tobacco and spicy leather. really encapsulates the relationship in the novel/film perfectly and is a beautifully complex scent that i will absolutely be purchasing full size in the warmer months because, sitting here in freezing english winter, it just makes me a bit sad. a bit like the winter sequences of cmbyn.

This fragrance is like a lot of different summer memories combined into one—limoncello La Croix, bug spray, morning dew, chlorine, laundry hanging out to dry. Petitgrain is definitely noticeable but the plethora of other notes complement it nicely. Specifically, mojito, sea salt, and clary sage, stand out to make Oliver as refreshing as it is. I do wish this had stronger sillage because I love how it smells but I keep having to put my wrist right up my nose in order to really enjoy it. It didn’t last very long either.

This is a beautiful, complex fragrance. I am really sad that it evaporates on my skin within half an hour to nothing. This isn't the only juice that does that. A lot of citrus fragrances disappear on my skin. It's a curse. Anyway, this is a gorgeous scent. It's worth sampling.

Overall, nothing outstanding. A clean, vibrant opening that reminds me of a brisk summers morning walk. Well blended as I can't really detect any particular notes aside from a salty vibe with petitgrain. Decent longevity & projection. Definitely not worth the price point.

A hyper-clean green scent, I'd call it a ultra soapy chypre-citrus with a dominant powdery quality, like soap and sunshine and whispers of herbs and rose. Despite not having any powder notes or accords, I am struck by an unmistakable soapy cleanness the likes of Exit The King. I would almost go as far as to say it is the dominant accord here. Very much a soapy, almost talcum powder-like clean. I was anticipating something much more overtly citrus here, as I felt with Northern Cardinal by Zoologist as well. So I suppose that is the nature of chypre fragrances? This is like if On A Date by Maison Margiela was serving Mojitos instead of wine, that's how powdery it is. The citrus is present, but it's restrained. Not lemony or zesty. Wet grass and open skies.. though, its a synthetic greenness here, but not in a plastic sense, but more like the hiss of sprinklers over an American suburban lawn in midsummer. This fragrance is linear and short-lived, largely static from beginning to end. Projection is mild, and longevity is moderate at best, that and it is not overtly masculine, yet not quite soft enough to feel unisex either. Perhaps best on a young, active man (under 35) who enjoys golf or swimming. Captures the essence of a midday summer, but emphasis on the essence. It doesn't smell entirely natural or that of a nature scene, more of an ideal. Not bad. Not for me. But praiseworthy nonetheless.

A bigger but not enormous green aromatic is all I really got from this testing blind. While refreshing, spicy enough, and bright enough, overall it was just a big mix that was classically inspiring. I'd go with this over pretty much any mainstream variety of the same story, but this whole plot and set of characters I'm just not interested in from the first page to the last. I don't have the right suit (or frankly any suit) for Oliver. I know the guy, but he's just not the type of character I'd want to hang out with. Looking at the notes now after blindly hanging with him, yes him, I have to ask, "are we just taking all the leftover stuff not purposely being used and throwing it together to see if it sticks?" While all the herbs, citrus, woods, etc are there, I don't get any leather, tobacco, fruit, etc. There's a lot packed in this where others I feel have done more with (a lot) less. Its nice, but ultimately a middle of the road plot for me. I need something with more intrigue. Even for a genre I don't often find myself looking for.

I get orange blossom with mixed florals and citrus. It’s light and prominent at the same time. It’s interesting but doesn’t have enough oomph. I’d say this leans towards feminine. It’s walking a line between sweet florals and powders florals. I would like this more if it had a stronger musk essence to it. The notes list Leather, tobacco, mastic and mahogany. These would be welcomed if they were present. Fragrance tones down quickly and didn’t develop into anything more complex.

Starting fresh airy: bergamot, citrus, moss, vetiver, dash of light spicy pepper. Then the fresh aromatic evolves to grounded wet patchouli. The concept & storytelling of this fragrance is interesting. The list of notes sounds complex and intriguing. However, on my dry skin, I cant detect most of it. I enjoy this aromatic creation, but not enough to pick a full bottle for myself.

I don't know what is it with my skin and vetiver hating each other but it's all I could smell in the opening... Luckily, it faded and the scent turned into mostly petitgrain, with something floral in the background. I think it's pleasant but ultimately nothing special.

despite the interesting concept and even more interesting brand, this sums up my issue with men's (this is unisex but it's stylistically similar to mens cologne) style fragrances. there are dozens of notes and this sounds delightful in theory, but it just smells like general, blue style cologne. i cant grasp or pull out anything in particular. because there is so much in this, it becomes nothing.

I sampled this in the summer but I wrote it off as kind of odd, although interesting. I guess I couldn't wrap my head around it at the time. Now I think it's a wonder of fresh, herbal complexity with an intriguing sensuality. Obviously, I really disagree with the review below. I think this could be classed in the very general "fresh citrus" category of men's perfumes, but it is also much more than that, and there are no metallic-ambery aquatic notes in sight. I also never look at a notes list and expect it's brevity or length to be indicative of...anything really. The notes are blended very well to create a single impression, that is perhaps best described by something more poetic rather than objectively descriptive. Trying to be descriptive though- the thing that strikes me the most is the salinity. There's a subtle briny element here that I can only guess comes in part from the olive note, and it lends this savory aspect that makes you think "should I like this?", and knowing where the inspiration comes from, I think it's brilliant. Even though citrus is present, I'd say it leans more into dry aromatics and herbs. If the citrus sticks around it's the rind and the bitter orange, not anything very sharp or sour. I also notice a smooth complexity I associate with tobacco that gives everything a gentle warmth, but there's an uplifting quality that I think could be lavender as well. I imagine it's summertime, and you're outside near the water, drinking some cocktails with a charcuterie board and rolling a cigarette. Then a friend arrives and you catch the scent of their skin through clean linen as you embrace. The humidity from the water is surrounding all of you. Sounds cheesy but I'm really wishing I owned a bottle now that it's colder. I'll have to write an update when I get a bottle.

Open - linen, fresh, ocean breeze, salt, basil, hint of apricot, mojito, slight paperiness, sage. Then there's a moment where I get swimming pool, sun cream, fresh clean towel, and wet concrete. Dry down - clove, linen/clean clothing/detergent, powdery, french soap, citrus fruit in the background. Verdict - If you're looking for something that is fruit dominant, you won't find it here. At least that was the experience on my skin. Instead the clean linen, powdery detergent smell is what dominates in the here in the dry down. The open is absolutely incredible and just smells like a summers day in a bottle; but unfortunately is dissipates after a few hours and you are left with the powdery/expensive french soap smell which is not unpleasant, but I think just a little too feminine for me. It's a fragrance with a lot going on though so I want to wear it a bit more and make my final verdict.

There is a lot more to unpack than I initially suspect. This begins with a nice, salty, boozy mojito which lasts for about 10 seconds, then on my skin it transforms into a mainly orange blossom - bitter orange combo. It really evokes a beautiful seaside pool. And then suddenly it transforms into a classic vintage male soap scent that probably is meant to represent what a shower with Oliver would smell like. Absolutely summery but rather unique compared to other mainstream summer scents.

The opening is very citrusy and fruity, but soon the citruses meld with some dry herbs and woods as well as some salt. This sweetens up a bit in the dry down. Beautifully balanced and blended, feels unisex to me. Conjures Italy or South of France in summer.

This to me smells like deodorant. Premium citrusy deodorant. I wish I could go on and on about the notes and layers... but it's just smells like ...deodorant. Hard pass.

I understand the art, craftly blended, but nothing extraordinary or easy-to-wear. Don’t get the hype. Really for you who love indie scents.
