Sweet Celestials

It strikes the balance between gourmand and fresh. Alot of reviews claim it’s super gourmand, but on me it’s also very floral. The pandan note is very green in the opening, like photorealistic green where you are ripping up a pandan leaf. Dissipates quickly. You’re left with an aromatic floral with a super sweet creamy coconut. Can’t distinguish the mung bean or rice flower in this, I’m sure it adds to creamy almost waxy aroma. It’s interesting the florals are distinct, i picture a beautiful south East Asian woman smelling like this and wearing traditional clothes with holding a flower garland. (im thai) It’s nice but it’s a bit intense every time you spray it, it’s not a pleasant experience in the beginning, I love the dry down and smelling this on my clothes the next day. But I almost dread spraying this on because how insanely suffocating the opening is.

Wow! I love this. Forgive my American take on this but I’ve never been to Thailand & my only experience of Thai culture is in a Thai restaurant. But, this reminds me of walking into a Thai restaurant and being served a Thai curry dish (it doesn’t smell like curry. It smells like that dish minus the curry). I love the combination of sweet creamy coconut base, the savory rice, lemongrass, the floral, green freshness, mixed with spices. There’s this mild banana twinge to this fragrance that is appealing I find in Thai cuisine as well.This is all all of that experience in a fragrance. It is a bit savory in that I can smell the rice. It’s really very pretty. I would 100% buy a large bottle of this. 30 mL isn’t going to cut it. I’d really like a 100 mL bottle.

so nostalgic and everything i hoped it to be and more !! this could be seen as not so great to people who i think aren't used to the savory rice w/palm sugar element. but i also think a ton of people who are familiar with the scent profile try it out but then soon realize yeah no they don't want to smell like straight up nab vam or khanom once they put it on (which i totally get, my mom was super repulsed when she smelt a dab of it but she loves all the food reminiscent of it). NOT SAYING ANY OF THAT TO DETOUR YOU THOUGH I THINK IT'S STILL WORTH TRYING. nostalgia aside, it's a wonderfully sweet, playful coconut sticky rice aroma w/hints of nuttiness. i love her!!! and i'm looking forward to sampling more from this house!!

So addicted to this it’s crazy.. have acquired a few different full size perfumes lately and while I love them all this is the only one I’m literally huffing the remnants of off my sleeve the next day. My favorite is how it smells after around 30 minutes. The grassiness and bite of the coconut fades a little and I start smelling the mung bean... one of my favorite dessert ingredients and it smells so creamy delicious and comforting. This has great longevity especially for this type of fragrance in my experience. The 30ml bottle is so cute but I hope they will make more sizes eventually! This is theeeee gourmand-y perfume I will be reaching for ... at least until I find something I like with black sesame or taro :)

I try to be objective and informative in my reviews because people have wildly different preferences and it can be exceptionally difficult to decide what fragrances to try — especially when you’re shopping online. That said: THIS IS GOOD SHIT (unless you hate coconut, in which case this is AWFUL SHIT). I can’t stop smelling my wrists — Sweet Celestials is photorealistic coconut sticky rice with an occasional whiff of light, white floral. I’m not a floral gal, but this is just enough to smell pretty without turning me off. I suspect many people with a wide variety of tastes will enjoy this fragrance, and I highly recommend giving it a shot!

this smells just like buko pandan!! (which is a Filipino desert with pandan jelly, shredded young coconut meat, cream, and sweetened condensed milk) This is a creamy coconut milk with sweet powdery rice, airy white florals, and prominent pandanus. (Pandanus smells like a grassy, nutty, green vanilla for reference) This smells just like a sweet coconut and vanilla dessert with fresh aquatic accords and creamy sandalwood. Genuinely always impressed by Prin Lomros and the scents he makes

This brings me so much joy to wear! It’s sweet and starchy enough to wear it during the cold winter days I’ve been facing. It does smell like mango sticky rice but has more projection and longevity than any of my other fragrances that are in a similar family. Green, starchy, sweet mangos and steaming rice, try it if you love the sound of that!

My sister brought this back from a trip to Bangkok. We both grew up eating pandan and, damn, this perfume has such a realistic pandan note! Slightly creamy and warm, nutty, and a bit sweet.

Shockingly good performance for this genre of fragrance. (I associate tropical scents with fleeting notes that fade after the first spray.) This is a real compliment-getter as well.

So strange that not a single sample from this perfumer has let me down. I guess I love the aroma of East Asian desserts more than I realized. I am beyond in love.

Definitely my favorite coconut fragrance of the season. Not too sweet. It's refreshing and doesn't veer into suntan territory. Absolutely divine.

My friends told me it smells like a lovely coconut on me but I feel it smells like sweet nuts with a hint of plants. Lovely smell either way

this leans very sweet and starchy on me, reminds me of my dogs fur when he has woken up and smells like a cosy bakery- i love it

strange journey with this one. opens very sickly sweet, sour artificial coconut rice. quickly dries down to something quite lovely, lightest pandan. the white flowers is slight more powerful, though, and give the air a laundry smell, unfortunately. a pleasure to sniff my wrists. major complaint is that there isn't much sillage here. it's a nice, calm scent. smells like the best of desserts eaten on a wooden porch surrounded by jasmine. disappears quickly.

Shares core DNA with Sweet Farewell and Chokedee: a warm, sweet coconut milk and rice dessert. However, Sweet Celestials opens with prominent wet, fresh, florals and a green, under ripe, starchy fruit. This one leans floral, while Chokedee leans fruity, and Sweet Farewell leans vanillic. I ended up getting Sweet Farewell, but I think this one is more interesting & unique!

This reminds me of going with my mom to the Asian market where she would purchase butter coconut biscuits. The taste along with the smell of these cookies is exactly what this scent smells like.

Extremely strong white florals that pairs well with the loud potent coconut. This is a very strong fragrance. So easy on the sprays.

I’d personally rename this one "Shower Steam"? I wouldn't be surprised if I was told this was a Maison Margiela REPLICA perfume. I'm surprised so many people describe this as gourmand or reminiscent of Thai desserts, personally I think the other two pandan perfumes from Strangers Parfumerie capture that vibe much more accurately? The dabber itself has a stronger pandan and rice scent, but applied to skin or paper, it transforms almost immediately. The steam accord overshadows the pandan almost entirely. Sweet Celestials is far less gourmand and more intensely humid. The pandan note is mostly missing. To me, both on skin and on paper, this presents itself as a photorealistic shower steam scent, so accurate it's almost uncanny. Not soapy, this is not Exit the King or anything like it, instead it's more shampoo & steam. Imagine stepping directly out of a hot, humid shower. Freshly shampooed hair wrapped in a towel. The room is still steamy and you can see it in the air, you also see morning light is seeping through the window. Despite what seem like gentle ingredients I found this scent a little suffocating and slightly overwhelming, however, I can't deny its technical brilliance and I have to admire its realism. Even for a niche perfume lover, this challenges my expectations for what perfumes can smell like! While it shares some DNA with Sweet Farewell and Chokedee, it feels less directly related to them than those two do to each other. If you want more of a southeast asian gourmand scent, try either one of those. Be warned that neither of those last long. Sweet Celestials has decent longevity, outlasting Sweet Farewell and Chokedee combined. This could be comforting to some, but I personally found it suffocating and not a scent I'd want to wear.

I’m not sure if it’s my skin or the fact I got a dabber sample and not an atomizer, but this is extremely floral to me. I definitely get the coconut, and the dry down is much nicer than the first 30 minutes, but I can’t get over how sharp the opening is. It’s winter right now, so perhaps it’ll perform better in the summer? Low-key gave me a headache the same way florals usually do. As of now it’s just not for me :( I wonder how it compares to Sweet Farewell seeing as the notes are so similar.

I am making this review as I am selling my bottle. I liked it, but its really sweet. It seems to be a good match for ultra-hot days, but we don't get enough of those where I live to justify having a whole bottle of this. Its sweet, nutty and I guess like rice, although it smells green too, to me. Its definitely a sweet, green, sticky thing.

This fragrance is very coconut forward without feeling tropical. Lactonic, starchy and somewhat savory, sweetened gently by white florals. The opening is very beautiful, but sadly there is some note turning sour on my skin that is making me nauseous and will prevent me from wearing it again.

I blind bought Sweet Celestials because I couldn’t find any testers and read it was sweeter than Sweet Farewell. It isn’t! These are two massively different scents, despite the notes appearing similar. Sweet Celestials is a LOT more complex and an acquired taste compared to Sweet Farewell . It opens with a strong, bright, fresh, leafy, young green banana type of vibe. The rice note joins in and it does smell as though the rice is wrapped in the leaves. I then start to get a hint of Lemongrass (although not listed) but it’s only brief. These notes do soften and sit in the background after a few minutes. The rice becomes a bit stronger and starchy, and the sandalwood and musk appear at this stage. I actually quite enjoy the scent up to now, however ..... in the far dry down any sweetness has disappeared and you're left with the scent of savoury rice/food, which becomes a lot stronger as it warms on your skin. It’s interesting. I absolutely wouldn’t have bought it, had I been able to test it first. 10/10 for originality, 7/10 for the majority of the scent.... 1/10 for the far dry down, which makes this completely unwearable for me. Sweet Farewell opens with a blast of sweetness from the coconut sugar. The vanilla then joins in, followed by the coconut and rice. This is much sweeter than Sweet Celestials! As it dries down further, I do get coconut rice and while it isn’t listed I also get a slight hint of creamy fig. I ended up buying this one as much prefer it to Sweet Celestials! 10/10 for the scent. If you like sweet rice fragrances, definitely go for Sweet Farewell. If you like the sound a savoury rice with green vanilla, then go for Sweet Celestials.

I had committed a crime, punishable in the fragrance community's courtroom: blind buying. I blind bought this from a seller in Korea (currently where I am staying) for 60000 won, which is roughly 43 USD, solely because the price was half of retail and I've been wanting to smell this for so long. I mean, a perfume that smells like Thai desserts? Sign me the fuck up. To give a little background about me, I am from Malaysia, a country in Southeast Asia that shares a border with Thailand, which has resulted in cultures that are closely intertwined especially in cuisine. Acculturation, the phenomenon in which cultures influence one another through direct contact and due to both countries being in close proximities, is not unique to Malaysia, but resounds throughout Southeast Asia. Empires such as Srivijaya and Majapahit ruled over Nusantara, which have large influence over political, trades, economy, culture, cuisine and the base of identity for Southeast Asia. This causes cultural and linguistic similarities that are intrinsically interwoven in each and every Southeast Asian country's culture and remain present until today. Such examples is the similarity in languages between Malaysia and Indonesia, where the languages are mutually intelligible and us Malaysians could understand roughly around 70% of what Indonesians talk about most of the time thus the privilege of gossiping around us is literally nonexistent. Another one in particular is our cuisine which as the saying goes, the way to reach a person's heart is through their belly. Coconut milk or santan, a rich and thick milky goodness that is made from coconut fleshes that are grated and pressed through cheesecloth, and Pandan, an incredibly fragrant leaf that is used as flavorings and give aromatic body to a dish, are two of the many fundamental elements in Southeast Asian cuisines. Malaysians use both to cook the rice for our national dish, Nasi Lemak, meanwhile Thais use them to create Gai Hor Bai Toey, a fragrant chicken dish marinated in mixture containing coconut cream, then wrapped and cooked in pandan leaves. Indonesians also use them to create Rendang, a dish that both us Malaysians and Indonesians collectively agree are creations that changes lives and solve race wars between us (yes, we are both very competitive and egoistic about claiming cultural elements as ours). Both of said elements, also become the fundamentals of Sweet Celestials perfume by Strangers Parfumerie, which is supposed to mimic the dessert Khanom Chan also known as Kuih Lapis/Kue Lapis in respectively Indonesia and Malaysia. It's a chewy and decadent dessert, made of separately steamed layers of rice/tapioca/sago flour mixed with syrups and flavorings that is constructed by alternatively layering them to resemble a cake. It was brought in by Chinese immigrants, originally being called Gao Teng Kueh, which later on is transformed and adapted to Southeast Asian flavors by using coconut milk and pandan. With that being said, I am very much familiar with the dessert and was over the moon when I first discovered the perfume as I felt that it would hit home which is something I desperately in need of as a student studying abroad in South Korea. Anything that reminds me of home makes me tear up and long for my mother's cooking and endless nagging about cleanliness (and unfortunately she is very correct), my father's dad jokes which are desperate and horrible attempts to adopt to Gen Z humor as well as his "What's 7x7?" question which stems from my inability to remember my multiplication table at the age of 7, and my sister who would eat Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus with me and incessantly ask me about the latest pop news and Gen Z slangs (she still does over phone, dear Lord save me). Hence, I can't help but to have high expectations. Which, it did hit home. At the first spritz of the fragrance, it bursts out with a sickly and almost headache-inducing sweetness that was cough syrupy. Then later, it fizzles into a green Pandan smell that claims its territory as the HBIC throughout the scent journey. The pandan smell, to me, is a 50/50 of artificial and realistic where the realism stems mainly from it's green and leafy notes. Regardless, it is still pandan and who cares anyway, us Southeast Asians sometimes use factory-made pandan flavorings because.. economy and convenience. Then all of a sudden, an accompanying smell of rice cooked with coconut milk was introduced and then it finally hit me. Wow, this. is. home. Seri Muka, Kuih Lapis, the raw ingredients themselves, all being presented in front of me through a fragrance juice and I was reminded of the times when I would buy these desserts from street side vendors, or during wedding ceremonies or official gatherings that has catering foods. Oh, how I miss Malaysian weddings and its food.. Nasi Minyak please come back to me. I wanted this to last. Until it didn't. The scent of pandan would stick out its head through the first 20 minutes of the scent journey, then it is overthrown by white florals accompanied by the previous sweetness of pandan and coconut. All in which reminded me of the scent of my sisters hair after she showered and it was due to the conditioner she uses by the brand Shea Moisture. Another scent it reminded me of was the dry down of Yara Tous by Lattafa. From there on, I felt disappointed and honestly it didn't leave me wanting to continuously sniff my arm and be dangerously obsessed with this fragrance. The scent journey itself was a rollercoaster of nostalgia highs and synthetic lows, that translates into a somewhat wearable fragrance and a frown face. On a personal note, it's not something that I am particularly obsessed through and through, eventhough I just wrote 3 paragraphs dedicated towards glazing over the fragrance. I am only obsessed with it when its at the 20 minute mark of dry down. I wouldn't repurchase a full bottle of this, and due to its syntheticness that I thought would dissipate mixed with my high expectations coming into this, it had left me somewhat disappointed. And there are also fragrances that irritates the back of my throat and this was one of them, which tells me it's not a good sign. You see, I love gourmands but heavy gourmands that are sickly sweet makes me have a slight repulsion towards them thus I am currently in search of gourmands that are light particularly rice and bread scents. If only the scent of coconut milk and rice stayed out longer and reared its graceful head as the main base, I would have been head over heels for this fragrance which I tried to do so by layering it with Je Ne Sais Quoi by Teo Cabanel which to me is the most perfect soy milk, rice, pulut nasi scent I have ever smelt. But even Teo couldn't overcome and integrate with the large force that this perfume is. Despite this, thank you Strangers Parfumerie and random Korean who bought the fragrance and sold in on 번개장터. Thank you for giving me fragments of Malaysia and Southeast Asia that I so yearn and long for, and allowing me to experience it through scents. You know what they say, nostalgia is one hell of a drug. I'm definitely still interested in trying out other scents such as Chokedee and Sweet Farewell, and I hope that I can get my hands on the samples soon.

I’ve been on the hunt for a good sweet uplifting fragrance for intense heat and I found the old sample of this in the back of my cabinet the other day and I’m finding it incredibly pleasing. I love the fresh greenness in the opening mixed with the starchy sweet rice note. It’s so evocative and makes me think of sticky jasmine rice and pandan. And the cane sugar! Oh wow, it gives this added texture to the sweetness even as it airs out in the dry down. Yes, there is this airy floral nuance but it’s sweet and nutty and not overpowering while holding its own on the skin. If I finish this old sample off, I may need to get the full bottle! It’s so refreshing yet edible! Only rice scent I've really, truly enjoyed.

Second review for this as I’ve gotten around to wearing it more lately and I originally said performance was moderate but no, it’s actually pretty nuclear 😳. It’s been hot lately where I live and it’s been performing so beautifully - it has a lot of projection and a beautiful sillage. It smells delicious and in fact, I was told I smelled delicious by a few people lol. It’s like a coconut cream sugar cookie with some green aspects. It’s just sweet enough without reading juvenile. A real compliment getter like others have mentioned below me. Love it! I’ll be reaching for this a lot this summer.

Melting coconut ice pop and melting paleta de nuez. Milky with good projection. This is very similar to Sweet Farewell, they both seem like light airy versions of gourmands which is probably why I like them. They smell edible delicious but in a clean perfume type of way. I can’t decide which I like best between the two, this would be the milky version while SF is toasted.

White steamed coconut rice, with a overload of milk; some flowers are fighting against the sweetness but is not working for me. Prin went a bit too experimental here, but this is why we love him. He found a chord that remind you of a sweet rice pudding from Asia, Surely will find home for who likes a bit un-usual scents based on the steamy effect and rice.

This is the spring/summer sibling of Sweet Farewell. It is very green on my skin even though the accords wouldn't lead you to believe that. It's still gourmand, but in a very tropical way.

So delicious smelling! Has some similarities to an all time fav of mine, Hayal by Katana. I had to buy a bottle. Performance is moderate.
