Tokiwa

I am very interested in this house! They have so many unique notes in their fragrances that I haven't really seen elsewhere. While Tokiwa is very corn forward, i think this is a vegetal and marine scent worth trying. Not a safe blind buy! Upon first spray, the corn note is quite evident, but dries down to a sencha green tea sipped while snacking on salty pistachios, giving a slightly umami nature. The marine notes are seaweedy, as though i'm resting next to a pond alive with watery florals. This fragrance is inspired by a botanical garden in japan called Tokiwa, so I don't think the goal is to necessarily smell like a corn field. Haven't smelled anything quite like it, but i love it. It is a bit sweet but nothing overwhelming! I do agree with the previous review of this fragrance being cloying. The opening is my favorite part. Excited to try more from this house!!

I don't even know how to describe this, but I like it. Imagine shucking an ear of corn outside (the corn note is more like the milky raw corn juice from a fresh ear of corn rather than anything cooked) right after someone has mown the lawn and while drinking a green tea and eating roasted pistachios. It's rather dense-smelling. Longevity is average to a bit below average. I think some would find this cloying.

I literally just made a fragnatica account to talk about how much I dislike this sample. I’m not even that crazy into perfume, I just like fun interesting and weird scents. I was so hopeful for this one when I ordered my sample, but bro it is so sickeningly strong of milky corn that it actually makes me gag. I felt ill and generally unwell wearing this and I really tried to give it some grace and time, but after a couple hours I was still so grossed by it 😭 it is exactly like other people say, very corn forward, with lots of vegetal notes and scents of fresh cut grass and some subtle citrus notes. It smells very earthy, but it doesn’t really remind me of being on a field (I grew up in the Southern US). I’d say it’s a rather strong fragrance, but it could just be the fact that I didn’t rock with it.

This one wasn't for me, but I appreciate how photo-realistic this scent is. The opening is bright green- it is largely the smell of very fresh (just picked) sweet corn. The top of my nose smells fresh cut grass or the scent of pulling apart the green husk of corn. Just beneath that, you really get the corn smell; it's starchy, deeper than the greenness for contrast, and almost nutty. I actually don't find this cloying because of the how vegetal it is. Sadly, I don't get much else- just grass and corn. I am interested in trying other scents from this house though, because the notes I do smell are so authentic.

This is so gorgeous! Corn silk, fresh and bright. Tea and greenery. Slightly nutty undertone. So delicate and beautiful. I was looking for a fresh corn frag and this was recommended to me. So glad I tried it out.
