Cafe Ambre Noir

I am not a gourmie but addict to this! It smells better than Starbucks’ coffee - rich coffee and rum opening with vanilla and amber drydown. I don't need afternoon coffee fix anymore after wearing it. Top: rum, coffee. Middle: tea rose absolute, hyacinth, Cambodian oud, spices, tobacco, coffee. Base: tonka absolute, white ambergris, beeswax, cocoa, aged patchouli, Bengali oud, musk, labdanum, Madagascan vanilla, Siamese benzoin, styrax, castoreum, cade, guaicwood, malt, coffee.

This smells like the best possible cup of coffee you could ever hope to have, with spices, chocolate, vanilla and a wonderful honey all mixed in. Despite not having any sort of nut note listed, I definitely pick up something akin to a hazelnut at times as well. The coffee is 100% the star here but the other notes I mentioned help balance everything and make sure it's not too bitter or overwhelming. This is a special gourmand scent and a must have for coffee lovers.

Wow!!! This is a rich composition on the gourmand spectrum eventually evoking a kind of ebony or dark woods and Bounty choclate bars. Yes this combination of cacao, tobacco, amber, coffee has subtle undertones of coconut which is complementary and likely coming from all these materials like fine rum and vanilla etc... I absolutely adore it! I'm not a gourmand fan particularly and would never actively seek out a gourmand attar of all things but this is FANTASTIC!

Before 2 weeks ago , i got the discovery set of sultan pasha . Only 2 samples i am really liked , One of the is Cafe Ambre Noir , it’s spicy gourmand scent , the opening is looked just like roasted coffee from strangers then it will go to the dry down giving spicy scent . Reve Narcotique is the second that i had liked because i am looking for a gardenia pure scent and it’s look nearly the pure flower of gardenia.

The best coffee fragrance I've come across. Rich, layered, with decadent chocolatey swirl. Strong performance, too. As someone who isn't a big gourmand lover, this is an excellent coffee/chocolate gourmand. An absolute love.

A profitterol with coffee cream and hazelnut glaze comes to mind. At a distance from my arm I feel intriguing green whiffs of hyacinth and juniper and in the vicinity the slightly more boring and alcoholic whiffs of moist roses and tobacco. Dry oud and labdanum pleasantly dry the mixture which is still quite liqueur and palatable. Makes you want to take a break and light up a mini-cigar. It reminds me of Café Cacao by En Voyage in a dry version with less cocoa but still elegant and sophisticated. Version for smokers.

Tobacco heavy and i get nutmeg also even though its not listed. Was never going to like this one as i really dont like tobacco heavy scents, so its a no for me. Performance was around 8-9 hours with no noticeable sillage

To me this opens like a honey and toffee infused Kahlúa. It's very boozy, nutty, vanillic, ambery and maintains a semi-sweet chocolate after-affect that follows the scent wherever it may go. The labdanum here is fairly strong coming from underneath the layers of sweet, nutty, boozy coffee, whose affects are quite strong here, and though coffee does come through loud and clear as a strong backbone to this fragrance, it nevertheless comes across as an alcoholic desert drink rather than a straightforward coffee beverage - it's a decadent gourmand rather than the coffee grounds opening of Cafe Tuberosa, or the dense 'dark' note in Arquiste's Nanban. There are variations in the dense nectar that is Cafe Ambre Noir, such as a salty facet coming from the ambergris, a slight dark nutty/woodiness coming from the hindi oudh, from the beeswax occasionally there is a (excuse the term) waxy quality which is usually sharper and 'cool' when coming from notes like orris, but here combined with the sweetness from the honey it instead comes across like a candied exterior to the fragrance as a whole. Rarely there is still another facet which seems to come from the Hyrax which adds a 'musky' or slightly earthy feeling to the fragrance, but it never becomes predominate nor fully fleshed out - and is fleeting at the edges of the fragrance. The drydown of this fragrance primarily comes with a sugary, woody effect from the coffee drying atop the oud, combined with the labdanum, vanilla and amber which all hide together under a small amount of smokiness, which overall reminds me of a few other sweetened oud fragrances I have smelled before, and yet despite that CAN never feels cloying as I recall the others smelling, instead always simply maintaining a 'rich' and, as said before, decadent feeling which has the maturity of an adult beverage, rather than the bombastic, sharp, and immature feeling of adolescent sweets. 8/10 YT: Jess AndWesH

Cafe Ambre Noir by Sultan Pasha redefines the definition of gourmand. It’s both animalic and complex while maintaining an approachability that is extremely seductive while keeping even the most seasoned noses satisfied with every twist and turn. Warm hazelnut and booze permeates a jet black coffee that’s steeped in pipe tobacco and cream. As the scent progresses into a dusky sunset of ombré tinged clouds, a smoky warmth radiates from the base. Animalic castoruem greets a wild Oud tamed by salty ambergris and cade. Am I smelling leather or the wood of an oaken barrel who’s inner cask has seen the most delicate rum aging within its fragrant walls? Cafe Ambre Noir is both gourmand and animalic at the same time. It’s approachable yet juxtaposes a wonderful dichotomy that has you wondering just how office friendly is this? Regardless, this Attar has changed the way I view gourmands from being overly sweet renditions of synthetic chemicals to a kaleidoscopic rainbow of edible scents and wearable animalics. I would drink this if could.

This one smells just wonderful and I really like it. It's a crowd pleasing comfort scent that's sweet but never too sweet or cloying. It opens up with coffee and rum and reminds me of a coffee lacquer which is soon joined by cocoa, amber, vanilla. It smells like one of those coffee deserts that has a alcoholic rum added to it. After a hour the alcoholic rum fades and you are left with dry cocoa and exotic spices. A beautiful nose pleasing scent that would be great in the winter or the fall. Now the projection does seem to be a bit more subtle than his usual attar's. I have noticed that some seem to project more than others. One tip with these attar's if you want more ooommmph in the projection department. After your usual application if you add a little bit of oil to your finger tip and apply it to the collarbone front and centre below the chin you will get that extra oommph. Big thumbs up with this one and one that is full bottle worthy imo if you like crowd pleasing sweet notes of ambre, coffee, vanilla, cocoa.

Smooth, resiney, oudey and dark. The coffee hit is just TOO MUCH for me, unfortunately. I wish it was a little less, as it overwhelms me. I don't usually look for coffee notes, but I don't mind them. With this, though, it kinda ruins the scent a little... Damn nice nonetheless...

Beautiful dark roasted coffee with unfortunately nutty facets that thankfully transitions into a chocolatey accord. Lovely playful attar that contrasts the constant traditional blends by the brand. Source: Official Tiny Sample
