Ensar Rose

Have you ever smelled something so good that it literally gave you chills and felt like a drug? That is Ensar Rose for me. I have my nose buried on my hand inhaling this so hard and so often it looks like a scene from Blue Velvet. There is something about Ensar Rose that is simply magical. I'm a rose lover and the rose in this is just exquisite. It's honeyed and smooth and luscious and I almost want to eat it. It smells so pure, like my nose is literally buried inside a gigantic lush rose. The overall feel of Ensar Rose is exotic but tamed. It's super smooth and seems a bit clean but also has this underlying slight dirtiness to it. Which must be coming from the smoothest and least animalic oud I've ever smelled in my life. Now THIS is a REAL oud I love!! This is not that stinky fertilizer stuff, this is unlike any oud I have ever smelled. Normally I like fake oud because I can not stand that butt like mulch smelling stuff. I don't get the appeal of that. But this is an entirely different kind of oud and by far the smoothest and by far the most tolerable. There is no "tolerating" to it, this stuff I could smell forever. In addition to the mind blowing rose and oud, it has equally amazing sandalwood and real and swoon worthy ambergris. Okay, I'm going to go back to huffing. Siiiiigh. Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff.

First, I was thrown into Panther's heel and bit my neck. Dangerous! Panther who bite his neck got tired of me and released me. Beyond the release, there was a beautiful rose garden that made me happy. The beast oud is gorgeous and the rose garden is beautiful. I love this attar .

What can I say about the great ENSAR ROSE? with two of my favourite ingredients Mysore Sandalwood and the rarest rose of all, Rosa Alba. The oud is also one of the best : Oud Yunus by Ensar Oud. Classy and feminine, elegant. I feel like a Queen when I wear this one .

Voluptuous sandalwood rose. This is an all out natural, no holds barred rose; soil, roots and all. It is regal, sensual, and unapologetic in its beauty. Numerous complex backup notes keep Ensar Rose from being a linear solifleur. Lovely.

Fine-boned, pale rose swooning in a sensuous golden haze, sublimed by a heady, yet supremely graceful, oud. Exquisite, and very sexy.

Well I have had mixed feelings about this one, some parts I like and others I don't care for. It opens with a blend of creamy red & white roses followed up with strong hints of tuberose and vetiver. The tuberose gives the scent a incensey feeling and the vetiver adds a slight woodsy aroma. This all stays around for about two hours and then it starts to change. The rose becomes more honeyed and smells really nice with the oud arriving giving the scent dirty animalic hints. At this stage the tuberose and vetiver have died down a bit to give way to hints of mysore sandalwood. When the honeyed rose and mysore sandalwood join it does smell really beautiful. At about four hours the mysore sandalwood takes over with now just hints of the past dominating honeyed rose and this smells just well mighty fine. Now I like the creamy Rose in the first two hours but I'm not keen on the tuberose which gives the creamy rose that incensey vibe. Also the vetiver note just smells weird and out of place with creamy roses. Maybe it's just me and my personal preferences. Even though the scent is unisex (just about) it does lean towards the feminine spectrum especially in the first two hours. Now after the first two hours things start smelling much much better. When the rose becomes honeyed and the scent becomes more intricate and tightly weaved with oud and sandalwood I start liking it more and more. The mysore sandalwood in the basenotes is stunning, especially when it blends with the honeyed roses. The projection is soft and the sillage is more restrained than his other scents but the longevity is good on my skin. I've had it on for about seven hours and can still smell subtle wafts of the mysore sandalwood. All in all I'm not wowed if I'm honest and I'm not keen on the first two hours but it does become much better after two hours. I do prefer his other new and yet to be released Juriah fragrance as my choice of a rose scent. That one is simply stunning. I think I need more time with this one and I'm sure it will grow on me as this is only one wearing.

Opens up bright and cheery with a jam like sweetness and they some more decayed, geraniol rose giving a nice combination of sweet and dry/herbal. In all honesty the composition is dominated by rose (to begin with) and the only support I perceive is the mild sweetness of honey as it opens and a gentle breath of ambergris and oud when dried down. Don't get me wrong all this conspires to create enough complexity in a rose absolute perfume which has plenty in an of itself, but it doesn't speak to me as much as some. I think the fact that ambergris is identifiable in the dry down is interesting. It's great but not life changing.

Yet another rose oud from sultan pasha, this is the 3rd rose oud ive tested from sultan and although again its another very nice blend, I would say i prefer the others slightly more. Very rose heavy like the others and a bit of nice oud put in there. Rose oud is just so overdone in general. So not much else to say. I like it but think others in his line are a bit better. Performance around the 6 hour mark for me before it gets hard to pick up. For sillage its again very soft a thing im starting to notice with all sultan pashas attars, think these could do with a bit more projection.

Not yet! Periodically I relive the nightmare of an Oil of Olaz style oily balm after a rose water cleanser. Here there is in addition also anti-mosquito lemongrass and an ambergris booster that thickens everything in an acute way. I also hear sour tuberose and rather acid woody notes. You must be a fan of the squad and enjoy this long phase doubly. Equally slow and without sweetness is the drying. Rather strong, monothematic, my nose needs a neti pot for washing. Step.

Ensar Rose is, to me, perhaps the creamiest of the Sultan Pasha fragrances that I have been permitted to smell thus far - and yet, if you can imagine, also maintains a musky, and simultaneous floral quality - the trio of which excel far beyond the vast majority of of the rose fragrances on the market to date. One of the facets most interestingly at play here is that of the character of creaminess, or otherwise the totalizing smooth character of the fragrance - which seems to spill down unto every level presented. The rose here is one I can only really compare between a 2009 bottle of Amouage's Lyric man that I once smelled (which although the fragrances really are quite different at points, it seems my only reference point for a rose of this sort) and Rose de Taif Extrait from Perris Monte Carlo. Both of these have elements which pour over into the majesty of Ensar Rose, and yet are, perhaps too 'fresh,' 'clean' and 'soapy' for the rose in Ensar Rose is much more multifaceted and unique, and much creamier, with a sweetness that ultimately seems lacking in the Amouage. Ultimately Ensar Rose is a rose fragrance which seems to shape shift a lot on my skin, although it could be the notes around it pulling it in different directions, but to me the rose feels citrusy at points, sharp and green at others (often presenting a phantom geranium note to my nose,) dripping with honey at even others still, but ultimately winds up creamy, and through this creaminess we find our way through to a smooth and subtle vanilla, pulling out aspects of the gorgeous sandalwood which is utilized in a lot of Sultan Pasha's compositions, but here it is paired so wonderfully with the rose, that it really has a lot of great moments to shine. This is also the case by way when the vetiver joins the rose and sandalwood to make a trinity of cascading developments with vetiver tinging the rose green at the start, and as the vanilla guides you gently through these stages, the rose becomes aged quickly, and turns from a green budding rose to one that is just about to die - alongside it you find the sandalwood coming out more and more, eventually being joined by a very unoffensive oud and ambergris combination which on it's own could compete for one of the best creamy ambers that you have ever smelled - a lightly rubied/golden hue: warm, inviting, and above all regal, it joins the rose (and lasts long after the rose is gone) to give it slight fruity elements (perhaps date or fig) as well as an edible quality (toffee, caramel, or maybe an exotic milk chocolate.) There also seems to be at the midway point a tuberose/leathery/smoky quality, which feels as if it should be coming from a cade-like additive, without it ever smelling of cade directly - perhaps this is another effect from the oud joining the notes, but it feels distinct and different from the oud which here smells a lot sweeter and distinctly varied from those ouds which preform a leathery or smoky affect. Nevertheless, as one gets further into the dry down, the rose seems to have aged further into a fermented rose, one which perhaps turns alcoholic, and is met with the creamier facets of the sandalwood, where the two fuse and join with the amber, to create a beautiful skin scent that just dances from your skin to your nose - still shape-shifting: every once in a while smelling nutty (or toffee-ed,) still having the faintest calling of tuberose, but persisting primarily in a creamy, golden-rubied ambergris/oud/sandalwood affair for long past your bedtime. As far as muskier, and more sexual, creamy and authentic oriental rose based fragrances go this one is impossible to beat. 10/10 YT: Jess AndWesH

But slowly there is more. You perceive powdered woods and a honeyed creaminess adding a drop of elegance. A hidden dimension of shattering complexities. Taking you on your fantasy journey are three types of rose ingredients. Rosa Alba otto, Persian Rose otto, and Bulgarian Rose absolute. Otto, or attar of roses, is an ingredient made by gentle steam distillation of the petals. It costs about three times more to distill roses vs. chemical extraction, but distillation produces a fuller, more rounded scent. Often smells much more like the original plant. Alive and vibrant. Using the ottos as top notes, and the slightly heavier Bulgarian Rose absolute, with its deep classic aroma as a middle note, gives Ensar Rose a 3-D depth. The supporting notes add to the realism. Uncompromising in his use of only the best natural ingredients, Sultan Pasha handpicked the aged Mysore sandalwood, real ambergris, and rare Oud Yunus. The finest that exist, framing the rose with shading and nuances. 'Queen of Rose Perfumes' . . . from construction to materials, this is one of the all-time best rose perfumes I've experienced. It reveals roses as they are, orphic deities of romanticism.

a very sophisticated yet dense rose scent. The spices make it smell not spicy, but rather dusty..like imagine a cloud of dust lingering beneath a clear, bright, juicy rose? ~1-1,5hrs in the rose becomes cleaner & purer. smells very authentic, like a true rose, except for the slightly bitter woody background for the contrast. Within the accessible market range id say this rose is reminiscent of the one Guerlain chose for their rose amira - a sweet red rose (it's hard to compare attar and perfume, but this should give you a general idea of where it’s headed). after ~3hrs the woodiness comes forward; it used to be rose with woodsy background, but now its vice versa, although it still stays on sweet rosy side. it also gets creamy and smooth, without any spice touches

The final dry down stages, though very close to the skin, smells wonderful. The rose and the sandalwood combo reminded me a little of Tam Dao EDT. But this attar has a more ‘live’ rose feel to it. The honey adds a gentle nectary sweetness in the background, while the oud peaks just above the surface to give it a little bit of texture and volume. A very romantic and dainty scent. I can imagine a classy, self-assured but mild-mannered, good looking person of either sexes pulling this off. It radiates a gentle and warm presence.

A very sweet delicate rose opening, which is smooth and creamy. The scent is quite linear, doesn't change drastically nor does it evovle, its pretty one-dimensional. A beautiful sweet, creamy and smooth rose, with sandalwood and vanilla. Projection is soft to moderate, doesn't scream massively off your skin. Longevity on my skin is around 6 hours. This attar to my nose is not a very complex attar as it does not feature a very long list of notes. However, I think this was a great decision by Sultan because this attar uses exceptional materials that are complex by themselves so why cover them with other materials. It has one on the creamiest aged Mysore Sandalwoods, A beautiful Bulgarian rose, a floral touch from tuberose, oud from Ensar and ambergris. At some point, it reminds me of Vetiver Blanc due to the tuberose, vetiver and ambergris combination.

Smooth, buttery sandalwood with narcotic white floral tuberose. This is probably my least fave of the 4 I've tried out today, and it's probs the one that I feel inclined to not try out again. It beautiful stuff, just not really my thing...
