Nuit Persane

Now this one has shot to the top of my list! It smells like a lesser-known desi spice, I'm not sure quite what, though. Ajwain? Fenugreek? It has a strange vegetal-spice-herbal element to it, and I LOVE it. I read all the reviews below mentioning beeswax/honey, and it is only later in the day when that becomes noticeable. Obviously it's my nose that is warping that, and I can own that, but nonetheless, I LOVE what I'm smelling (and what others are not)! Huge fan. Love what happens in this one...

Quite a booming real musk and ambergris heavy scent -- the rose clings on to these both, but by and large, this is a little too much for mine. I had to double check I had the right sample (sometimes some numbers look like similar -- 21 looks like 17 upside down) and so I wasn't sure I was smelling the scent I reviewed 3+ months ago. Nonetheless, it is the same and I'm not sure how I had a different experience. Anyway, to be continued...

Honey, rose saffron, tobacco...just absolutely exhilarating.

Really quite impressive rose amber heavy attar with just a hint of tobacco and im glad the tobacco is soft on this one because i tent to not like tobacco heavy scents. Performance was around 8 hours with very poor sillage. I would love to hear the reviews from the people who voted heavy and enormous sillage lol i would need to think these are false votes because as beautiful as sultan pashas attars are ive yet to try one with even moderate sillage.

Not usually a beewax fan (or honey really?) but I was converted by Slowdive last year. However I understand that honey and beeswax are changeable in the sense many materials are dependant on source, extraction...myriad factors! Anyway I'm always open to liking it and I've got to say that this is one of the finest examples of a honey/beeswax fragrance one could imagine. It's sublime! The honied opening is PERFECTLY judged and blended to absolute elite levels with rose saffron and the most complimentary partner for it...tobacco with it's inherent bitter and sweet undertones. Dries right down to a mellow not cloying, but sweet rich...woolly, comforting fragrance. Having said all this positive stuff about it...It's no Slowdive. This carries a middle eastern attar, sensibility with it (perhaps in the rose and saffron?) and just isn't modern enough for me to wear or justify purchasing. Really, really, really good though!

I can't stand beeswax on furniture let alone on my wrist. With rose, musk, frankincense and amber it amplifies even more, sharp most of the time, then slowly fades. An old, faded, pink carpet. Step.

This starts off as one of his ambers and after an hour the musk accord takes over on my skin. It is the same as his musk accord sold separately to my nose. Both were in my sample pack. Not a fan of the musk so this became a hard no.
