Joyeux

I could inhale this forever. A fougere that is so rounded and refined, not sharp at all; Le Vagabond's review below are close to my own impressions of it. The lavender here does not really smell of lavender, it is softened and blended with the other ingredients. There is a bit of citrus in the opening. In the deep dry down, there is an unusual and quite strong salty smell that must be coming from the ambergris and seaweed combination? I don’t love this note necessarily, but it does smell good and it's interesting - it’s just really really salty, so it's a bit of an acquired taste. The projection on this is just right, and it lasts all day. This perfume is a total triumph. Every one of the four Sultan Pasha perfumes is a 10/10 for me.

For those familiar with classic citrusy or fougère gems of yesteryear, well, this perfume is somewhat different. Those might be described in colours of yellow or lively greens. Joyeux is golden, right away. It ignores the refreshing zest and goes straight to a warm skin in the fields on a late afternoon. A hard-working body, that bathed early this morning using a fine, old-fashioned soap, now exuding the light perspiration twang of clary sage, a touch of green bitterness, the smell of rolling in the hay, and a pulsating leatheriness in the drowsy heat. As the sun sets (dry down), the leather intertwines with herbaceous Chartreuse and lavender.

One of Joyeux greatest achievements is its remarkable stamina. Sultan Pasha has crafted this extrait de parfum with the kind of persistence that makes it an unshakeable companion from dawn to midnight. The projection is perfectly calibrated and as a fougere it really shines on my skin. Would not mind a 10 ml decant of it as it is so season-versatile. Gents will love this one.

This is a spiritual soul-brother to Iris Bleu Gris, which I adore. They both have this gray/brown earthy core that really appeals to me. 30 minutes in and it's already on the top of my wishlist. Joyeaux's style is my ideal of a, grounded, sophisticated, highly personal, gentleman's scent.

I really, really like this but since I have the attar that’s enough for me. I will say this is quite different to the attar. Much drier and less old school. Attar is a more unusual and unique blend but most people will probably prefer the spray

Nice fougere type scent, it has got some real quality and depth to it. This is a scent I only appreciate but nonetheless doesn't move me in a certain way. I really enjoy the zesty opening tho, very lime-y in my opinion. Luckily for me the leather is also quite tame, hiding in the background a bit, there is some green aspect here aswell which is likeable.

I knew going in that Joyeux was going to be a difficult proposition, as unless they're very soft, green or vanillic (e.g. Jicky, Kiki) - I'm not a huge fougere lover in general. True enough, I find Joyeux very challenging, but I imagine it's a great scent for people who like this genre. On my skin, Joyeux opens as an incredibly dry, woody-dusty powdery lavender - there's a strong impression of a wood polish effect. Just under the surface writhe countless herbs, amongst them intensely pungent and medicinal lavender and clary sage. It's evocative of walking into an apothecary which has been abandoned for hundreds of years, albeit sans balsalms and instead filled with herbs that are crumbling into opaque grey clouds. It is searingly dry, ancient, BITTER and smells as though taking more than the tiniest dose from one of these medicines would be essentially lethal. Think about eating one of those laced perfume sachets and you're going in the right direction. After the first few minutes, Joyeux gets ever so slightly gentler but still retains its intensely dry-bitter-herbal profile. I cannot overstate how truly devoid of sweetness or softness the fragrance is - it is prickly, poisonous and thoroughly uncaring as to any discomfort it might inflict. Black tea notes invade from the base and add to the dryness, the sense of sand in the mouth. There's a suaveness, and of course conventional masculinity to the scent but it's also very "natural" smelling insofar as nothing obviously synthetic jumps out, rather just very pungent and hostile naturals threatening the nose from every corner. To the base there may be a leather, but it's hard to detect beneath the mountain of herbs. It's an extremist fougere, no doubt will do much for some but for me it's a strict no-go.

Often go down the old barbershop road when I smell lavender, but the bergamot (and a little mint) keeps it buoyant here. I unfortunately equate the word "Joyeux" with Xmas, which clearly it is not. Very wearable for most males. Would go well with a nice suit. Multi-generational. It does evolve somewhat as one wears it, but not considerably so. Traditional and not. Keep them coming, Sultan Pasha!

Joyeux Sultan Pasha Perfumes یه عطر کلاسیک آروماتیک مرکباتی بسیار دوست داشتنی و باکیفیت من عطر کلاسیک دوست ندارم اغلب اوقات ولی این کار خیلی زیباست لوندر خیلی پرتکراره تو جدول نت های عطر ولی اصلا صابونی نیست من فضایی شبیه امبرکولون و موس ایلومینی هم تو ذهنم میاد نه اینکه شبیه هم باشن ولی به نظرم اونی که امبرکولون و موس ایلومینی رو دوست داره این میتونه سومین عطر مورد علاقه اش باشه

Very interesting. Dusty clouded, almost smoky but not, lavender to start, very unique take, then a couple hours in there's almost a sense of vanilla, even though it's not a note, prolly the tonka. The late drydown reminded me of something and then I figured it out, it's VERY similar to Amouage Lustre at the end. Definitely a unique scent and unique journey.
