Sadel

When I ordered samples from Svensk Parfym a while ago I skipped this one, as I was skeptical of the butterscotch and caramel. I love leather fragrances but gourmand notes often make me feel sick and I was worried these would be like that. But now that I got this small decant from someone I know, I can tell you those worries were completely unfounded! It opens up with some very stinky and pungent leather, with some sharp notes as from saddle soap or something similar. I was kind of shocked by this opening (in the best way!), as this is way different to how leather is usually portrayed in perfumes; whereas you usually get the "new leather bag" smell or the "fresh suede" smell, this is animalic, dark, and pungent. It reminds me of my old 1960s Swedish army boots 😊 This is backed up by some great sweet caramel and butterscotch notes that are not at all too sweet, and complement the leather perfectly. After a couple hours the leather starts to fade and in the end, after maany hours, you end up with a sweet but still dark caramel scent with some animalic notes. Every part of this is amazing in it's own way, and if you like leather scents then I can't recommend this enough! It's definitely one of my favorite leather scents.

Less like a horse's saddle than the binding of a very old book in a dark corner of a fine personal library. There's even a hint of the glue holding the binding together, so maybe it contains part of the horse itself (joke). If I smell anything sweet in there at all, it's to balance out the leather, as well as the tobacco that makes it rough and tough. It's no clean, urbane car leather like Tom Ford makes. This leather is the country manor kind, of boots and books, bitter and dark from age and work. A moody and medieval fragrance. Serious, rugged and elegant.

this one is my favourite from the line... my first thought was 'terryfic oud' by terri gunzburg. something sweet (butterscotch vs honey), something animalic (leather) and something stank funky (cumin vs tobacco/vanilla); it's a charming scent, but for mine it wears too close to terryfic for my liking. dark, resiney and smokey, this is a powerful scent and i love it. had i not already bought terryfic oud i'd be considering this as a full bottle purchase. do try!

Im trying a sample of this fragance and i am un LOVE with It. It is sweet and powerful but at same time fresh. I really ove It . It goes directly to my wishlist!! Scent: 9 Longevity: 8 Sillage: 8 Quality/price: 6 Versatility: 7 Global: 8

This is dry grass and leather...the butterscotch is very faint and I would not classify this as a sweet fragrance...very good...

Do want to smell a cowboy? Sexy, leathery cowboy? That's the smell. I love it.

I’d like to first thank Svensk Parfym for the opportunity to test their first six fragrances. Sadel turns out to be quite different from what I imagined reading the olfactive pyramid. The notes listed, such as butterscotch, caramel, vanilla and leather, led me to expect a more or less creamy texture. But what I smell on my skin, is primarily a boozy, woody and rather dry fragrance. The booze here is not the kind of plum wine-like gooezy sweetness in many boozy amber/vanilla fragrances, but rather like the astringent yet sweet alcohol burst of rum raisin flavour, with a rich woody backbone of oak. At the same time, there isn't much deep ambery note. Therefore, the woody sweetness in Sadel feels more luminous and sugary than a few dark boozy amber/vanilla to me. Sadel doesn't have much dramatic evolution on my skin. There is a bit of chewy tobacco and leather undertone in the far dry down, but not substantial enough to cut the boozy sugary sweetness. The sillage is mostly moderate, and the longevity is around 10 hours on me. I find the rum raisin effect very original. But because of my relatively low tolerance with boozy sugary note, even though there is a significant portion of dry woody note, it's still a bit too intense for my liking, That being said, fans of boozy fragrances might want to give it a try, especially if you're interested in finding something similar to rum raisin.

This is a genuinely unique fragrance, and the last of the deluxe Svensk Parfym samples I tried (behind Virke, Ljus, and Prakt). I waited for a cold night to try it, since my gut told me this was a cold weather perfume - and I was correct. The first thing that gets you is saddle leather - IN YOUR FACE. It is bold and unmistakable, I've never smelled a perfume with that kind of leather. Usually it's a soft, supple leather, or suede. Not a freshly polished saddle. The name doesn't lie. One thing I've noticed about Svensk Parfym, across the board (and something I really love this house for), is that more pungent or even challenging notes develop over sweet (but not cloying) bases. After about three hours I started to smell smooth pipe tobacco, and then vanilla - that was stronger on my skin than butterscotch (what I was hoping for) or caramel. Perfume lasts at least 8 hours, and is definitely for cooler weather.

It's alright, not a love. Reminds me of old books, maybe paired with some kind of spirit. Not too interesting unfortunately. Boring, weak, not much leather.

This is a very nice line and I especially like Prakt, Virke and En. Each of the scents manage to be light and natural while also sporting impressive longevity on my skin. Sadel is the only one I dislike unfortunately. It has a kind of iodine note to it that reminds me of semen and I am unable to get past that.

Sadel is a very original and different fragrance that has a lot of leather and tobacco. Then it also has a sweeter scent from caramel, vanilla and butterscotch. In the beginning it's definitely the leather that is dominating and the scent is dark, rough, deep and really sexy. But the other notes are also in there, giving the fragrance a very unique feeling of sweetness, tobacco and a buttery scent together with all the dark leather. After a while the leather gets a bit more muffled, but except for that the scent hasn't changed that much. I think that this is a fragrance that is very hard to translate into words. I don't really know how to describe its complexity and how different and exciting it feels. Later during the day I find the leather, the buttery butterscotch and the creamy caramel to be the notes that it sticking to the skin and I am so incredibly fascinated by this fragrance from the beginning to the end. On my skin it's more tough and sexy in the beginning and then it turns to a yummy caramel/butterscotch served on a piece of leather. This feels like a fragrance that you need to experience and that some people will love while others will have a hard time with.

Surprisingly good. Who would have thought about combining butterscotch and caramel with leather? Makes for a pleasing and slightly sweet concoction. Throw in some tobacco and vanilla and I think this is a rich and sexy choice for both men and women UPDATE 06/11/2019 - I get a maple syrup accord after about 12 hours with this. Compliment from XD.

Caramelly sweet, leathery, slightly smoky and not too pungent. It fades down to pure butterscotch. I am surprised that I liked this one but although I wouldn't purchase a big bottle, I'm nevertheless impressed. It's well blended

@junior_surgeon Haha! Now I want to try it even more! And speaking of that I always wanted to have a perfume that smells like Swedish cock and balls. Maybe this is the one. I hold my thumbs!!!

Did i get sugar free zero fat diet batch or something ? I aint smell any of those gourmand notes at all and all i could smell is straight alcohol no nothing else :(
