Skymning

I’d like to first thank Svensk Parfym for the opportunity to test their first six fragrances. Among the first six Svensk Parfym offerings, Skymning is an instant hit for me, as violet and iris are among my favourite notes, and Skymning illustrates this violet note in such a vivid way that it strongly reminds me of the French violet candy - Violette de Toulouse. Speaking of violet candy, among those often recommended as violet-candy-themed fragrances, one can usually find suggestions such as Guerlain Insolence, Van Cleef & Arpels Féerie, etc. They're indeed lovely, full of the cheerfulness and innocence of sweet berries along with the violet like how the candy tastes. However, what they lack, according to my personal preference, is the surprising herbal, minty, even a bit earthy, anise-like spicy and medicinal taste in the violet candy. I found it in Annick Goutal La Violette with an anise undertone, and now I find it again in Skymning, but skewing more herbal with even a sort of nose-cleansing minty/menthol vibe to evoke the cool breeze under the violet sky at dusk. I also appreciate the smooth, graceful transition from herbal, minty violet candy, to the clean fluffy white musk and velvety iris base very much. As if the clean white musk arrives to give a long, affectionate hug to the violet, and leaves it enough time to exit with grace, while the creamy, softly carrot-y and violet-tinged iris is like the haunting fragrance of violet lingering on the shoulder of the steamy white musk, long after violet's depart. Skymning remains this ethereal, elegant velvety iris and fluffy white musk for the rest of its development. The iris never turns starchy, the white musk remains fluffy instead of tripping into laundry detergent, and the whole maintains a charming radiance instead of turning opaque and muddled. All in all, it's a very comfortable skin scent with panache. Skymning projects moderately during its 2-hour violet phase, then stays close to skin for another 6 hours. The evolution of Skymning is arguably relatively linear, like a violet colour gradually gets awashed into white. But the smooth transition, the carefully modulated details to render the accord life-like, all assures a end-result of refinement and gracefulness. I would definitely recommend it to violet fans, especially if you enjoy the herbal nuance of violet or if you prefer a more naturalisitic and diaphanous style.

Skymning is without a doubt my favourite out of their three new fragrances (even though I love En and Sadel as well) and I am so happy that I decided to buy a bottle of it! Immediately when I read that it contains iris and violet candy I knew that I had to have a bottle, so I ordered one without even thinking about it. When I spray it on I am met by a quite powdery iris that feels luxurious, beautiful and cold. The violet is there in the background, but here in the beginning it's definitely the iris that rules, like a tough ice queen from a fairytale or Disney movie. I love this type of cold, powdery iris scent! After a while there is a scent of violet candy sneeking in to the fragrance and it really is as realistic as I hoped it would be when I read that it is one of the notes in this fragrance. The iris is still cold, powdery and tough while the violet candy is sweet, kind and nice. So it feels like the evil ice queen now has met the good princess. There is also a veil of musk and a darker violet that's sweeping over the fragrance and contributes with some mystery. The first time I tried this fragrance I thought that it reminded a bit of Misia from Chanel, but when I compared them side by side I didn't think so... so I washed Misia off again and let Skymning get all the focus. This is a fragrance that stays all day on the skin... and even to the next day. The last time I wore it I sprayed it on my arm and when I was going out I didn't want it to rub off on my wool coat so I put on a sweater underneath the coat. But it still smelled like violet candy for a week after that! This fragrance has a really fantastic longevity and sillage!

Wowsers, I'd only tried this one on sparingly, likely with 3 or so other scents on, and I only really liked it, possibly 'really liked' it. Anyway, I saw it for REALLY cheap, and just bought it. Worst case scenario, a catch and release, so, worth the risk. Today I put it on and went out for dins with my lady and OMG I fell in love with Skymning, I really truly do. The sweetness is very similar to the sweet note in Sucre d'Ebene, a real dark, malty-molasses sweetness. YUM. This blends seamlessly with the purple floral elements, and creates a HEAVENLY accord that I LOVE. ADORE. OMG I've had some really REALLY good luck with my blind buys recently. Like, maybe 8 or 9 outta 12 or so. I'm seriously proud of myself and my luck, here. I'd get a back up bottle of this, I liked it THAT MUCH.

I put this on today for a day trip with my lady, and as soon as I put it on I loveloveLOVEd it. There is that sugar-sweetness of the violets and irises, and a wonderful, intoxicating umani that pairs BRILLIANTLY with the sweetness. It has a sake-brewery complex nuttiness and I can almost taste it -- it pairs perfectly with topnotes and, if I'm being honest, is brilliantly simple and yet so complex at the same time. It's insane how well these two elements work together. Neither overtakes the other, and through this heavenly unison, the scent that wafts its way over to you is enchanting. Absolutely enchanting. Love it.

the iris, the violet and the musk are all there, but, for my, the entire composition does not feel complete, it feels lacking. it feels like a good accord, or a good 'part' of the scent, like the dry down, but by and large, it just doesn't function like a fully realised, complete perfume. that's just my opinion...

If you are Swedish you will DEFINITELY recognize this scent as being an almost exact copy of the famous violtabletter, a really common candy in Sweden with violet taste. My mom has been looking for a perfume with that scent for some time and here it is, so now I know what to get her for christmas :)

This is THE best shit I've smelled for years. Someone give this man the keys to the royal castle. A semi-natural but gorgeous violet, like candy and flowers mashed together. Good silage and longevity but very linear.

Wow so good! The first superb scent from Svensk Parfym, the candy violet really tickles my nose the right way. Would love to own a bottle. It is powdery, violety, sweet candy. Certain mood or occasion type scent.

I received this in a random samples package that I ordered and thought this was a nice scent. Right off the bat it reminded me of Miller et Bertaux’s A Quiet Morning, minus the tumeric and palm leaf. The opening is soft, as is the whole design of the scent, but the projection is still solid. It’s basically a linear scent with some musk and "sweet notes" as listed above, but kind of gives off a light incense vibe. The violet and iris take a back seat initially and then grow in intensity as time goes on. It’s a very pleasant scent, perfect for warm, breezy days. This lasts for several hours, and should be relatively inoffensive wherever you wear it. This is one of those that I wouldn’t necessarily run out and buy, but given some time down the road, would probably pick it up.

First I'm testing from Svensk Parfym. I was so curious about the violet candy (Swedish violpastiller or violtabletter) and had to try this, so I bought a 5 ml sample from the official site. Received a handwritten note too, where Henrik Lestréus called this one luxurious. The violet candy is very realistic, but it also feels upscaled. This isn't light sugared violets. It dark and molasses like. Almost herbal, medicinal, something like a minty feel at the top, as another review says. One small spray is quite potent too. Long lasting and can be used sparingly. It's mostly one very well made accord. Feels like high quality.

Smells like violets and sugar. Like Imaginary Authors' Violet Disguise except better IMO. If you miss Violet Disguise, which has been discontinued, you can easily replace it with this. I wouldn't buy a bottle because it isn't my thing, but it's pleasant. This also has the 'peanut brittle' note that I detect in Hermès Eau de Citron Noir. Not sure if it is the sugar notes or some combination between the sugar and the violets. 01/04/2019 Possible to use as an alternative to Jersey by Chanel.

This is not a violet perfume! But scent of Swedish violet pastilles. There's a difference. Elegant, musky, purple violet pastilles with some purple floral accord. Great longevity, one meters sillage. Linear but but this perfume is about Swedish heritage, aka violet pastilles.

This will be my spring frag when invited to someone's home party. This frag is so "happy". Violet candy (Swedish Viol tablettask) blast for a start, then iris comes with a tiny bit musk. With this you will not smell like anybody else.

If you are looking for a traditional violet perfume - THIS IS NOT IT. I learned this through experience after blind buying it on the basis of researching lots of reviews. It opens with a really odd and frankly unpleasant musty note which I thought was definitely off. Underlying this is the violet which eventually makes itself known after several very unpleasant hours. I got none of the purported sweetness. I contacted the retailer, explaining that I thought it was off but after returning it, they assured me that it wasn’t. They graciously gave me a store credit. However the lesson is: do not blind buy this or you may be horribly disappointed.

Very evocative of twilight at a still lake, it opens more aquatic with the new formulation, probably because of the ambergris, but the violet candy is definitely the main note. In a way i wish it was more complex, it's nice but ill probably only get the 5ml bottle
