Rasputin

#1294 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I'm not usually a fan of scents with a chocolate note. I've lived and worked in close proximity to two great confectionary companies, L.S. Heath & Sons, makers of the Heath Bar, and Brown & Haley, makers of Almond Roca. Locals could purchase their products and factory seconds at a substantial discount and everyone did. For years I over indulged in chocolate, including as many as five or six mocha lattes a day. Now the smell of chocolate kinda turns my stomach, but it's mild enough to be fine here. Bright, green, woody, and absent the amber that so often dominates so many scents. A nice very woodsy tone here. Chocolate note aside, this reminds me of Vertus "Monarch" which itself is an absolutely fabulous scent. I applied this at 6am. Projection was arm's length for a few hours. Longevity was seven plus. But you can still get away with this in a car pool, elevator, small office environment, for short durations anyway. It's versatile enough for any wear, but comes across more suit and tie, date night, than casual. Between this and the Vertus it's a coin toss for me. Quality is great for both, price is roughly the same at around $110. I'd get decants of both this Swedoft and the Vertus and compare them before spending money on either, but I would definitely have one of them on the shelf.

This is the fragrance I’ve been gatekeeping. I would say it leans slightly male but it’s still definitely unisex. The unique blend of spices are reminiscent of leathery colognes but the cardamom and jasmine settle down in to the most deliciously strong and slightly sweet skin smell with a dry finish of incense that caps everything together perfectly. I definitely would not wear this in office or close spaces but it’s perfection to stand out when needed. Truly unique scent!

This truly deserves a lot more attention. So well blended. Some notes are easy to pinpoint others are just playing so well together that they create their own scent. Loud, don't just fill a room but a whole house. With a great longevity on top of that. Perfect evening scent for special occasions.

I find this totally unisex. Citrus opening with the pineapple and bergamot but quickly dries down to reveal the incense and oudy notes with hints of the patcholi and chocolate. This is expertly blended and one of my favourite fragrances. 10/10

Like nothing i ́v ever smelled. Strong opening but and the dry down is just magical. Long öasting and a very smooth but noticeble projection. You can easily blind buy this!

The smell is so deep, complicated and mysterious.. when i bought it blindbuy i never thought it will be my signature scent! This is a masterpiece!

I never smell clive christian X but I love Rasputin so much! It's Mysterious, seductive and elegant.. all blended in perfection..

Its complex but dries down to a beutiful scent. Scent: 9 Longevity: 9 Sillage: 8 Overall: 9 of 10 Get it!

A lesser quality, less refined version of X for Men by Clive Christian but at a quarter of the price, of course. It's a spicy, woody, musky, very masculine fragrance. Nothing original but still a very good fragrance. Longevity and projection are good, not overpowering. It stays closer to the wearer after the first hour or two but keeps on going. It becomes muskier in the mid and settles to a nice woody smell. I did not get any of the fruity notes from it.

A nice, quite unique, fragrance; Rather complex. Hard to describe. Spicy, clear notes of cardamom, cinnamon and clove. A tad bit soapy, dries down to wood. Good longevity and projection. I think it's best suited for evening wear in the cooler season.

Beautifully blended, unusual signature scent. Fruity and boozy opening blends seamlessly into polite but funky Oud, with touches of chocolate. Long lasting with decent sillage and projection. Great for everyday wear

Fairly pleasant spicy aromatic, more on the mature side. Longevity is quite poor; only a couple of hours on my skin. Not worth the hype or price tag in my opinion. 6/10

Very of our time. I've seen this labelled as an incense perfume but I struggle to see it as such. To me it's a cardamom-bomb layered with a contemporary, generic, synthetic fruity-freshie. I'm not convinced by SweDoft. And I struggle to see how anyone could describe this as sexy. I know all perfumes are made in the lab but this smells to me, with the exception of the cardamom, like there are no natural notes in it. Like scent-impregnated polythene. I'd love to smell it on a lover just to see if it can be convincingly pulled off (no pun) without coming over mass-produced and industrial. I don't think it can but I'm prepared to be proved wrong. Also worth reading taskalizer's first review. If you have a natural sexy swagger you might carry this one off. If you don't, skip it.

Hmm, I wanted to like this, but it smells like a synthetic combo of a citric rose ("pineapple" I guess?) and cardamom. It's quite bright and fresh, quite linear, it doesn't change at all really. It does last, but it smelled so sharp and bright the ENTIRE time. I grew to really dislike it actually, sadly. Because I live 30 minutes from SweDoft and want to support local perfume houses. A huge miss for me. There was huge potential in the name and concept, but it was spent on a synthetic bright and fresh cardamom scent that feels very uninspired—IN MY OPINION.

Way different than I thought it would be. Too much pineapple and no cloves that I can smell. The pineapple goes on and on; it's more like a central heart note. I agree with the "sharp and bright" description of another reviewer. It's the associations with that name Rasputin that led me to thinking those exotic heart notes would evoke a deep Russian winter of 1910 or something. Wrong again, rosequeen. I got a decant, and I suppose I could have been sent the wrong one.

Absolutely nothing original coming from this company as said by a previous reviewer this is a less refined Clive Christian X. Sampled a few from the house and they all seem to be clones of other fragrances wrapped up in pretty packaging

This is a light clove-cardamom combo. It manages to hint at old school masculine scents and stay modern and relevant at the same time. It is definitely reminiscent of a scent you have smelt before, probably something from the seventies or eighties. Unfortunately, however, it is only like a watered down version of that scent group. Five minutes after you spray it, it feels as if it's the far drydown of a generic, classic manly scent. I thought this would be more unique, but it's nothing to run for and get. I am on a 1ml decant now. Beyond that, it would most probably be a pass. Update 1: This one hardly has any thickness or depth to it. In my book, this means it lacks character big time. Update 2: This juice has a kind of warming effect in the base that could be headache-inducing. Update 3: Rasputin has a younger vibe, so not exactly quite mature. I can't spot niche quality here. It's well blended but doesn't smell natural. It's slightly above designer quality but below high-end brands, something at the ranks of Mancera or Montale perhaps or even below that. Wind Wood by Mancera has a similar feel to this one, but Wind Wood is even stripped down further.

Straight out a new bottle this stuff wasn't good. A jumbled mess drying down to a nasty sea/fishy smell (pretty much like the stretch of water in Sweden that this is dunked in to brew)...was nearly straight in the bin. It sat in the drawer for a couple of weeks, another try out and incredibly it changed into a really nice scent. Of the top I get a herbal, fruity smell that moves quickly to a nice chili chocolate. The drydown is good, a well blended spicy cardamom, patchouli, clean musk and woods. Nice!. I get a decent 7 hours longevity with subtle sillage and projection, but you know its there. Its quite a dry scent with a small hint of darkness, would work nicely from end summer through Autumn or Spring when the weather is in transition. Its not a love, but a very strong like.

So satisfying, I hardly know where to start. The packaging is first class - all the way: heavy wood box, hemp rope to close, sealed with stamped red wax. Inside the box is red tissue paper and velvet with the bottle nestled snugly inside. Around the neck of the bottle is thin black rope with another emblem in red wax. Next, the fragrance - exquisite. Truly unisex, and I’ve smelled nothing else like it. Bergamot, cardamom and I also get vetiver. Positively compelling. All class, patrician and yet understated, but definitely not weak. It’s even pretty sexy. THIS is how niche should be. Other houses: watch and learn

I don’t usually write negative reviews, but this company has the worst customer service ever. I asked them whether they ship to Canada and they said no. I purchased a bottle and shipped it to a friend in Germany. DHL said they can’t ship perfume to Canada. I contacted Swedoft twice to return my order (like all sellers do), and they didn’t get back to me. I don’t know what they’re thinking. No matter how good your product is, if you don’t care about your customers, you’ll be out of business in a couple of years.

This is an utterly delicious and beautiful fragrance which for some reason instantly reminded me of walking through a sunny Portuguese orange grove as a teen. I simply can't get enough of it and pineapple has now become one of my favourite notes.

The cloves and cardamom are doing it for me. I find it fresh, spicy and aromatic. Kept smelling my arm so it’s a pass for me.
