Molotov Cocktail

Given the notes and polarizing reviews, you'd expect this fragrance to be borderline, if not completely, unwearable. I find Sy's ethos and approach to creating this fragrance interesting, along with the niche notes, so I blind-bought the limited edition concrete cap bottle from Taiwan... hoping it'd at least be palatable enough to wear occasionally. Needless to say, having read reviews here first, I was somewhat nervous and second-guessing that decision. After it arrived and I tried it, though, I was shocked at how wearable it was! Perhaps many of the reviewers have steered away from other niche offerings with similar notes, because in comparison to, say, BeauFort's 1805 Tonnerre, Molotov Cocktail is substantially more wearable and approachable. It's a spicy, peppery, vodka-y fragrance, to be sure, but that sharpness isn't clubbing you over the head in a manner that I find intrusive or offensive. Rather, the more intense notes of blood, sweat, rubber, and gasoline are much more subtle than I've smelled in other fragrances. They're present, to be sure, but hardly the heavy-handed barrage the reviews might lead one to believe. Sy brilliantly blended a handful of extremely strong, often offensive notes into a shockingly wearable and approachable fragrance - a feat I don't think many other fragrance houses would be able to recreate without veering into unwearable territory. It's a brilliant example of niche fragrance as an art form. I can't wait to see what Sy produces in the years to come!

Huge blast of pepper, almost takes up the whole opening while carrying the burning smell of gas and a soft sweetness, I think it's either the vodka or iodine. Drying down I smell way more metal and sweat, actually lot of sweat. Each time I take a whiff it attacks my nostrils violently. Cold and unforgiving, this smells like hell and fear. edit: Holy shit this is literally room filling, every where I go I feel my nose burn from the screechy pepper and smoke.

A very emotional perfume, one that shows proof of talent, and spirit. Hence, the ignition of Sy’s journey for the unexplored parts of perfumery... A powerful introduction to the brand, I wish you luck friend.

The first note feels like the scene in a movie where the veteran gets PTSD- a rapid fire barrage of blood, sweat, rubber, etc. and so realistic... truly an experience.

Starting with black pepper explosion, which is so dominant from beginning to end, accompanied by an oily animalic structure. As time goes by, a metallic and a fresh part with a touch of vodka and engine oil also makes itself perceptible. In general, the exact equivalent of this perfume in our country (Türkiye) especially for the beginning is the expression that "smelling like a goat". It’s not mentioned in the listed notes but an animalic musk is always perceptible in the entire composition. I can swear that there is civet in it. Still, it did not seem very compelling to me. It’s not something I can use in daily life but also it does not have a structure that drives me crazy like some perfumes such as the ones containing high dose of over fermented oud which smells like dung, mold, rancid cheese, molasses, corpses and animal carcasses. This particular perfume is an experimental study that achieves its purpose.

got a sample of this and ngl it smells like a gas station to me! initially you get hints of the mustiness of the customers, the clean smell of freshly mopped floors, the atmospheric smell of the building itself, the lingering gasoline in the background, and something almost sterile once you get past the INSANELY peppery opening, it genuinely smells like a kinda rundown gas station and something almost fizzy sweet like the way one of those japanese soda candies taste is what this smells like eventually settles into that fizzy sweetness with the sterile/gas station in the background and hours into the dry down (4hr+) it becomes an old school mens cologne type of smell not crazy or dramatic like many people describe but not something I'd wear often due to my personal tastes and most definitely not mass appealing, I've definitely smelled worse but could genuinely see myself pulling this out every now and then and wanting a full bottle for artistic purposes alone a lesson to all to not paint a story of what you want it to smell based off the notes, and also a reminder that not all fragrances are necessarily meant to be worn! look into the inspiration for this fragrance and give it a try if you can! next up for me is the infamous inexcusible evil :)

It smells like my grandmas ashes, very disappointed with this fragrance will not be repurchasing.
