Olyssia

I own a few and have tested countless orange blossom perfumes, but to me this is the one, the perfect specimen. Many scents that feature orange blossom either focus on the juicy fruit rather than the flower, or go into the classic cologne, astringent neroli-heavy direction. This does neither, but really lets the flower take center stage in all its waxy, botanic and seducing glory. I find this very, very wearable in all seasons and quintessentially unisex.

I love this crisp orange blossom and jasmine floral! When I need a scent to pick me up, this is one I reach for. I also layer it with Vahina from Sylvain’s vanilla collection...beautiful mixture. Such a brilliant idea to sell the tester packages so we can try them out and not blind buy. Yes, I wish the scents lasted longer but like my favorite Guerlain fragrances, they have to be reapplied every few hours. Still worth it!

Beautiful sparkling floral orange blossom, proper jasmine sambac. I wish this was sold in smaller bottles, I'd have it in my collection tomorrow. Cost of living crisis and all that forbids. From the discovery collection, it has to be this one, and Oranzo, true to life, sharp, floral, white blossom, not even remotely innocent or eau-de-cologney. Love them both with a passion.

I bought the Orange Flower discovery set having bought the Musk and Vanilla ones and found a beautiful fragrance in Dovana. When I tried Olyssia, it instantly reminded me of Norman Hartnell's "In Love" which came as a cream in a turquoise heart shaped bottle and was worn by me in the 60s. Pretty, youthful,, feminine and sweet with some lily of the valley notes.

Wow, what a heavenly blend. Cool orange blossom balanced by warm spice scent of cardamom. A rare orange blossom that's a little bit sweet but still on the clean side. Perhaps my favourite of the orange blossom line of the brand. Need to test out the rest to decide.

I find sweetness and freshness of jasmine sambac in it. It's simple and pleasant. Too bad that it's no longer available.

Beautiful orange blossom and jasmine perfume on a bed of soft sandalwood and gentle spice. What more can be said? This and Oranzo are the best of the Orange Blossom line and are going on my want shelf. These 3 lines were a bit confusing for me. I do find the Orange Blossom line was the one that made the most sense because you can really tell orange blossom is the true focus of all of the perfumes in the collection. The vanilla line is very underwhelming in the use of vanilla, and I wish they all had more vanilla to be frank. And Most of the perfumes in the musk line were frankly not that musky in my opinion. That being said if you want interesting and nice orange blossom fragrances, w/ some that were a bit too different for my taste but offer traditional orange blossom perfumes along w/ some newer "niche" style takes on orange blossom give this line a try.

Olyssia is just so beautiful. Pure, sweet, fresh floral. It conjures the same feelings as Pure Poison by Dior. I smell a lot of petitgrain in the opening, as well as cardamom and bitter orange. As it dries down, it gets sweeter with the orange blossom and jasmine singing their perfect fragrant duet. They're so gorgeous here, I can't put it into words. Olyssia is strong, though, so don't treat it like a light, fresh perfume. The floral notes in here are queens, strong and long-lasting. They project, too. Although musk and sandalwood are listed, I don't find this perfume to become musky or woody. It retains its stunning floral signature throughout. Pure and precious, masterfully done. This is more than a perfect orange blossom - it is a perfect combination of orange flower and jasmine, that I have never smelled elsewhere.

Lovely, waxy and green orange blossom. I really like it and was disappointed to see it isn't offered as one of their candles. It's a fall scent to me, warm in a waning of the season way. It's described in the booklet that came with the discovery set as "velvety, luminous, and bewitching" and I can see wearing this to a Halloween party if I lived somewhere that wasn't frozen over by late October, somewhere like Italy which the booklet also mentioned. I don't find it particularly easy to wear for my circumstances - it's too heavy for summer here and too orange for the rest of the year - but if you've got more moderate weather it's worth a go.

This opens poorly for me, either showing how carefully crafted Orange flavour ‘shake n vac’ is or how this isn’t? I can’t decide? Clear orange note opens a clean musks & sharply soapy sort of floral scent, drying down to something which emerges as a nice Jasmine approximation. It’s a more ‘designer’ feminine affair you’ve smelled a million times, at least to my sensibilities...Does get much nicer after a couple of hours when it’s a soft Jasmine and you can actually smell the creamy Orange blossom, very pleasant indeed but can’t forgive masking that with an altogether cheaper vibe, still Not my bag.

Best of the Delacourte orange-blossom suite in my view: a zinging fresh-bright-floral treatment which allows the delicate, stellar little flower to twinkle in just the right light. It heavily stresses the waxy, green, almost-prickly herbal aspects to zip up a truly lovely, invigorating, make-you-smile essence of spring and summer. Also, wisely, doesn't let the jasmine get too pushy - it's in the lineup, but a backup dancer only. Longevity isn't marvellous, but the reasonable price and its charming, winning simplicity do go a long way to make up for that. True orange blossom lovers must try!

Personally, my least favourite of the collection but only a taste thing really, although I did describe it as 'Orange shake n vac' in my instagram review. This subsides and it becomes quite a pedestrian, femme floral, but soapy clean jasmine approximation. Much nicer when dried all the way down because the creaminess of the orange blossom, effectively the 'base' of this perfume comes out to play and is actually very pleasant indeed. Not my bag though, the bit I liked is masked in stuff I found very passe.

This is a really nice orange blossom fragrance. This opens with a noticeable petitgrain, but it doesn't last long. Then I get the orange blossom, jasmine, and a very juicy orange note. It teeters on the edge of being slightly soapy. I see cardamom listed, but I don't pick that up. In my opinion this is unisex, leaning feminine. It lasts about 4.5 hours me, and wears fairly soft. A solid orange blossom fragrance!

Front and center, this is an orange blossom scent, on my skin Jasmine is taking a back seat. A nice blend of citrus notes add to the floral chorus. Probably better in Spring weather, it’s bright and cheerful. Leans feminine. Safe for the office as it stays close.

I imagine this on a beautiful, smiling, fairy-like spring bride with loose hair and flowers in her hair. It’s a beautiful, bright floral. Very feminine to my nose. Natural, light, pretty. I really like it.

Lovely opening, but as this dries down it becomes primarily a slightly spicy jasmine to me. Beautiful and obviously well made, but not really what I want in an orange blossom scent.

Starts nice enough (great orange blossom), and develops into a creamy orange-y musk. Unexpected transition but very pleasant. Perfectly unisex.

My favourite from the new range. The combination of the orange blossom and jasmine flower is gorgeous. Deffo worth a try.

If you like the type of orange blossom that it in Serge Luten's Fleurs d'Oranger and Houbigant's Orangers en Fleurs but didn't like the cumin in the former or the strength of the later, and the skankiness in both, than this is a great alternative because it shares that same slightly spicy orange blossom but none of the attributes of the others I mentioned. As such, I find it more wearable, but I also find it disappointing in the performance department. I had purchased the generous sample packs of all the fragrances this brand makes and was able to get a few wears out of each. This has to be over sprayed, and even then, it is very light and disappears too fast off my skin, especially on a warm day. About 2 hours later I found myself pulling out my travel sprayer of Houbigant's Oranger en Fleurs to give myself a shot of orange blossom I was missing here. One spray was all I needed because it is beast mode compared to this. If you like very light fragrances, you might like this as it is a beautiful fragrance, but personally I found it too light and fleeting for my tastes.

I bought all three discovery sets (15 samples in total) and was surprised that the overall fragrance DNA of this brand is not for me. The marketing, the history, the design, the notes ... I thought I was going to love this house. Completely up my alley. But, in the end, it wasn’t a fit. Out of all the offerings I appreciated Olyssia the most. It is a modern orange blossom/jasmine/neroli with a classical bent. A touch of something quite vintage in a classy, elegant sort of way.

On my skin this was a straightforward, juicy orange. Very rounded and without the bite that Oranzo had.

A simple white floral, nothing special, pretty nonetheless.

of the orange blossom collection from SD, Olyssia is the most straightforward and least interesting. It relies on a tried and true combination of orange blossom and jasmine, which is truthfully one of my favorite pairings, but I'm not sure that the result is greater than the sum of its parts. I did get the barest whiff of petitgrain after the initial opening, but it was fleeting, which is a shame. The other fragrances in the orange blossom collection have impressed me with the staying power of their citrus, but Olyssia did not deliver. While it began well balanced with the jasmine, within an hour the orange blossom had diminished to about 25% of its original power, and disappeared completely within another half hour, leaving a nearly monotonous jasmine scent. This isn't to say that I didn't *like* Olyssia. aside from the poor performance, I found it quite pretty and wearable.

As I am testing every orange blossom fragrance in the lovely discovery kit it seems right to review each one as I go. So far Oranzo has been my favorite because it embraces so many notes from the citrus family which I truly adore. The longevity is amazingly outstanding for this genre of fragrance and I will definitely purchase a bottle! So, I was intrigued as to how the regal Olyssia would perform. This delicate orange blossom centered fragrance is very luminous and feminine due to the conspicuous presence of jasmine but the additional notes of vetiver and sandalwood seem to attempt a unisex vibe which I find incongruous, in some ways ruins the lighthearted, princess vibe. Having said that, I imagine this lighthearted fragrance would be far better tested on a sunny day in May! Regardless of individual preferences, I find this orange blossom collection worthy of sampling!

Along with Oranzo (pure green orange flower more on neroli side) Olyssia is my favorite of the orange blossom range. I respect all of them as the rest are truly elegant and intriguing takes on orange flower but to me too disruptive of the theme. Oranzo is pure which is maybe more plain but well done and beautiful and Olyssia is the one that comes to the right balance I think. The orange flower is beautiful, on the very flowery side with - to my nose - a heliotrope note up in the beginning which morphs info a beautiful creamy jasmine. Lovely, elegant, peaceful sort of fragrance which is soothing in way. I would definitely buy it. I will remain at Oranzo and Olyssia as the rest of the range I find it beautiful but lost the orange flower a bit too much (In Osiris it comes back after a while but the rest is a bit too contradictory for me).

Comes out of the bottle a jubilant blast of gorgeous, effervescent and also creamy orange blossom. Absolutely happiness inducing and energetic as well, with the feeling of snappy greens from the petit grain it contains at its edges. Before long this effervescent effect tones down a bit, and a little soap and muskiness from the neroli and jasmine enter the frame. Still very beautiful but not quite as sparkly as the opening. Sandalwood supports neroli in the dry down but doesn’t ever overtake the citrus blossoms of this perfume, which remain dominant to the end. I’ve been reading about functional fragrances and the opening of this could serve as a mood booster, it’s that good. In totality this lasts about 4 hours on skin, the wonderful open lasts a half hour.

I had high hopes for this - I love orange blossom and jasmine. While this isn't bad, it doesn't have any surprises; I detect orange blossom mainly at the opening, while the drydown is a lightly indolic jasmine note reminiscent of Diptyque's Olene. It definitely is a natural-smelling fragrance crafted with good quality ingredients, but it didn't wow me. Its projection is less than stellar too, with the more citrus-heavy Oranzo unexpectedly performing way better; I have one spray of each on separate wrists, and from afar all I smell is Oranzo. On balance, it's not a bad scent at all, especially if you like white flowers, but it's kinda meh to me. Maybe I set my expectations too highly.

The orange flower opening is sweet, bright and refreshing. That lasts for roughly 20 minutes and then the scent changes though I'm finding it difficult to articulate how. I feel like I'm smelling a little cedar and leather but neither of those notes are listed. This is my second testing and I'm liking it much more than I did the first time around though still unsure about it. The first time I tested I thought it was quite feminine. On this second round of testing I think it leans more unisex. I can't quite wrap my head around this scent. More testing needed. Update: Morning after testing, I'm picking up a fresh, sweet honeysuckle lingering on yesterday's jacket - nice!

Where is the smoke! the tobacco! & the ashes! The first whiff was a smokey tobacoo orange blossoms right in the face as i have sniffed it before on a smoker.. not as his fragrance but the combination of his smoking, body odor, and maybe his fragrance! So it has tobacco, smoke, jasmine, orange blossoms, vetiver, petitgrain, sandalwood, & musk. This is a smoky blend and quite masculine, i mean i am against gender blends but i can't imagine this blend (at least for the first 5 minutes) on a lady, as if smelling "Sunset Heat" by Escada on Tom Selleck. Cute

I am never disappointed by any of Sylvaine's fragrances. The D' Oranger collection is my favorite, I love them all. I believe the Orange sample kit is still available and Smeraldo from the Musk collection might also be available but everything else is sold out on Sylvaine's website. I hope she brings them back.

A pretty, light, sweet jasmine, no headiness or indole to be found here. This jasmine is a sweet one like the jasmine in Armani's My Way.
