Oscarine

One of the nicest woody-floral aromatic spring blends on the market! As a fan of Sylvaine I blind ordered it when it was released, and during autumn/winter I couldn't resist spraying it sometimes, though I knew it would be best in spring. So now almost half of my flacon is allready gone, too early... Orange blossom blends so perfectly with the fruity but not-at-all-gourmand facets of élégant raspberry and black currant, the cypress-Bergamotte Hinoki-like touch adds an oriental facet to the aromatic woody base under the supervision of this fantastic orange blossom Absolu. A masterpiece !

Again, for some reason I had a dislike emoji on this review, and I liked all the orange blossom collection. I must have hit the wrong emoji when I first posted these reviews. I decided to test this line again because they kept popping up in my mind. I'm trying to be more selective about buying but this orange blossom collection has been nagging at me. So, I deleted this review and the one for Ozkan and decided to retest and rewrite them. The funny thing is I like Oscarine a lot better now than when I first tested it. I liked it but now I really like it. It reminds me of another perfume that I have tested and own a small decant of VanCleef by VanCleef & Arpels. A real beauty that has been discontinued and I cannot get a full bottle. Oscarine is a contemporary version of VanCleef. Aromatic, fruity, a bit savory, a little sour, a bit powdery. It has that late summer, going into fall smell that appeals to me. I have other perfumes that fill that bill as well but I seem to be attracted to them. There is something of the farmer's market here. A farmer's market in a small town w/ lots of trees. The smell of late fall raspberries, aromatic scents of herbs, the brisk freshness of pines, the sweetness of flowers and the pollen like smell of late summer sunflowers is here. Bitter, aromatic, sweet, savory, powdery, fruity. Since I can't get VanCleef I may opt for a bottle of this instead. If you mourn the loss of VanCleef I suggest giving Oscarine a try. I think you might find it to be a good substitute.

Oscarine opens bright and sweet, and the acid blackcurrant note seems to differentiate the juicy-sweet bergamot of this scent from the candy-sweetness of it’s sister, Osiris. It’s immediately clear they are closely related. I don’t get pine or basil right away, but there is some indefinite piquancy that could be either one. The brightness simmers down quickly to vanilla-resin and powder, which also reminds me of Osiris. The blackcurrant seems to mellow toward raspberry—but not too forward. I also get some orange blossom and maybe a little green wafting in and out, but it’s more suggested than stated. The raspberry and the green note—maybe the petit grain?—emerge in the dry down, and become more apparent as the vanilla-powder dissipates. The fruit persists more on fabric for me than on skin. It’s a pretty perfume, if a little vague, and enjoyable to wear. I like it for a young person who favors vanilla perfumes. It would make for a sweet and, elegant departure.

From official website: Top notes: Bergamot, Petitgrain, Basil. Heart notes: Blackcurrant, Orange Blossom. Base notes: Pine Needles, Cypress. No mention of raspberry. The most dominant note is a combo of blackcurrant and orange blossom (but mostly blackcurrant to my nose). This fruity note stays strong even at drydown, which is a really lovely, elegant drydown. Performance is average though.
