03 Lonestar Memories

Just when I thought I had decided on a bottle of PHI Une Rose de Kandahar, I checked my inner-elbow, which held the mysterious, earthy scent of Lonestar Memories. I would describe it as just barely smoky, leathery, resinous, woody, creamy, and minty-herbal. When I first sprayed, it was much darker, much more leathery and smoky, like a BBQ, but it settles down considerably if given some time. I sampled it despite knowing I don't care for leather nor smoke, but I was still curious because, after all, it's a Tauer. Never imagined that it would become something I "needed" to own. The drydown reminded me of something I had been searching high and low to find in a perfume! Several weeks ago, I was out walking when I noticed a blooming rosemary bush. While I don’t care for the pungent scent and taste of rosemary, I love flowers of all sorts, and the precious tiny blue flowers were calling to me. I carefully picked a few to show to my little daughter. Before giving them to her, I cupped my hand and inhaled and was amazed to find that rosemary flowers smells entirely different from the leaves. It was the most beautiful, delicate scent, like just a drop of the essence of the leaves mixed with cream and sugar. The flowers smelled so wonderful that I couldn’t stop inhaling their scent. That was my Jean Baptiste moment (if you've seen the movie "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer")! I soon realized that the scent was oddly familiar. I start thinking of Mentholatum with milk and sugar. And then my “a-ha!” moment. The scent was like Noxzema. I have always loved the scent of Noxzema, and now I desperately wanted a perfume that smelled just like it—like tiny rosemary flowers. Lonestar Memories contains a note of clary sage, which plays out like a vague menthol scent. I wouldn't have guessed clary sage in particular. Combined with a creamy base note, I found the rosemary flower fragrance that I had been longing for, a scent that I assumed would just be my personal unicorn for many years to come (more likely forever). Despite my total adoration for PHI Une Rose de Kandahar, I bought a bottle of Lonestar Memories. I barely got to my car before ripping my box open and spraying with abandon. The next morning, I woke up and immediately hit the trigger--I'm obsessed with it! I rolled out of bed and prepared a cup of Earl Grey tea, added sugar and milk, and proceeded to take a sip. As I sipped my tea, the scent from my wrist drifted up to my nose, and I noticed that the scent of the perfume and the flavor of the tea blended together almost perfectly. Vetiver can present as black tea (hence Odin's Seylon), and with a bright note mimicking bergamot as well as a creamy note that smells, well...creamy, it was a lot like a cup of Earl Grey with milk. So that is another reason I am falling for Lonestar Memories--I LOVE black tea perfumes. I continued to examine the perfume on my skin. It is so beautifully blended that the notes just kind of tumble into one another, and it's tough to pinpoint specific notes. I did however pinpoint the scent of jasmine. I almost wasn't sure if it was really florals I was smelling, so I checked the Tauer website to confirm it is indeed "a hint of jasmine," one of my favorite florals. Keep in mind that all the things I have mentioned (Noxzema, Earl Grey, jasmine, BBQ) are all present, but none of them dominate the scent. In fact, at first the perfume dries down and then it may seem streamlined, natural, even flat. But upon examination, it has what seems like a million subtleties to explore. Please take the time to get to know it. Every bit as masterfully crafted as L'Air du Desert, Lonestar Memories contains Mr. Tauer's fingerprints--his silky, ambery, cedar-like "Tauer-aide", if you care for it. This perfume is his second masterpiece. Not a crowd-pleaser by any means, but I deeply appreciate it.

More than any other fragrance in my collection, Lonestar Memories never fails to remind me why I am so passionate about fragrances. When I first smelled it, I was just beginning to move from designer scents to niche, independent, etc. type scents. I was blown away by how "non-commercial" this scent is. There is no freshness, no citrus opening, no musky dry down. Instead, there is resin, leather, grit, and passion. It smells like it was made with love... like the difference between a home-cooked meal and Applebee's. The fragrance opens with a somewhat harsh onslaught of herbal and floral notes. It relents a bit after 15 to 30 minutes and presents a transition to a relative smooth phase where the leather and myrrh kick in. This is where the scent gets as comfortable as any scent I've ever smelled. Any by comfortable I mean it induces a nearly narcotic-like sense of well-being in me... I'd say it comes close to producing euphoria. It must be lighting up just the right chemicals in my brain, because it has a way of melting away my troubles and brings me to a peaceful place. This is a scent to be enjoyed by the wearer. I think it could be pleasing to others in the right setting, but that would be missing the point. This is art to be appreciated by experiencing it. Not at all linear... as previously said the jarring opening becomes somewhat addictive, if for no other reason it provides such a great contrast to the beauty that comes next. Throughout the dry down, I get phases where I can detect Jasmine one minute and then have it disappear the very next minute. Please don't every bind buy... there are some notes here that will not sit well with everyone. Samples are inexpensive on LuckyScent. Try it out at least three times before judging. The price is a bit high for 50 mL on first glance, but considering the potency of the fragrance, I'd argue it is no more expensive than any designer scent priced at $80 per 100 mL. A true love for me. Thank you Andy Tauer for making this fragrance. It is just incredibly beautiful and such a singular scent and experience.

Lonestar Memories I usually try to come up with a title for my very personal opinions here to give the reader a hint about what he or she is about to read, or my general idea or opinion in a sentence, but this perfume made me speechless. there is no better title than its own name. ladies and gentlemen, all the hypes about Mr Andy Tauer and his works of art are 100% true. Lonestar Memories is not simply a perfume. it is a journey, a work of art, or something to appreciate or be thankful to be alive and have the chance to smell it. Andy Tauer was completely successful to create a fragrance based on the concept he has in mind about it (which you read in the descriptions of the perfume). it's so awesome, badass, crazy, and yet beautiful (and even comforting at the very end) that i can not stop thinking about it. it starts powerful and leathery, earthy, resinous, and with some petroleum vibe which is surprising. it is not heavy on animalics. as you can see there is no notes in it to make it a "heavy on animalics" perfume, but there are some touches of that feeling. as it dries down it gets a bit more leathery and the myrrh and labdanum starts to sing a bit more, and in the end we can get the amber feeling more and more. I blind bought it, but I do not recommend to do as i did. it's not definitely a crowd pleaser. you may get a lot of negative comments about it. but if you care about the perfumes and perfumery itself then you must get a sample and try this. the only problem that i have with this one (and generaly Tauer perfumes) is the cap of the bottles. the presentation, glass, box, the signed card and everything is 100/100, but the caps makes you stressed every single time that whether you are going to ruin the cap and break the sprayer or not. This scent is mind blowing. a true masterpiece and work of art by Mr Andy Tauer. The perfume in every aspect is 10/10

I was so pissed at first because I went to a niche fragrance store and smelled a couple of samples, and the one I liked the most by Tauer was L'Air du Desert Marocain, so I went back to it a couple weeks later and accidentally mixed names in my head and ended up getting this. I was so bummed out when I sprayed it on my wrist... "Damn... I screwed up. This is not the one I wanted and now I have to suck it up". The opening was not really my cup of tea. It felt like a hot leathery, almost lava-like smell and reminded me of the opening of Tyrannosaurus Rex by Zoologist. I love leather fragrances, but that was missing the subtle kind of leather that I love from other perfumes such as Cuir Velours by Naomi Goodsir, which is more of a suede leather. Also, the myrrh was quite present, giving you a sort of hot pepper spiciness I wasn't so fond of. However, I could not stop reaching my wrist from time to time later that day. The following hours were by far the best of the fragrance and the smell instantly transported me to some time in the 80s or 90s, when really good action movies were being made. One particular one, which I love despite the critics at the time absolutely panning it, is "Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man". An instant classic in my book. Well, this scent could have easily be worn by either Mickey Rourke or Don Johnson in that film. Don't get me wrong, this scent is nothing like Dark Rebel Rider by Varvatos, but it conceives its intention a lot better, and of course, I would recommend it to anyone trying to convey that message of rebelness and "lone-wolfness" across the room. Some say you either love it or hate it, but I don't believe this can be hated. It seems pretty animalic and quite hard to despise. It is purely raw, sexual and masculine, and I love it. No doubts about it: best mistake of 2020. 10/10.

This is not just the crown jewel of my collection. This is the bottle that makes the rest of the shelf behave. Tauer No. 03 is not merely a perfume to me, it is a antigravitational object. Every time I open the bottle and smell it, time seems to fold in on itself. There are fragrances that smell beautiful, fragrances that smell expensive, and fragrances that smell artistic. Then there is this: something that feels almost impossible to reduce into notes, or to be even produced. It has that unmistakable Tauer signature (of course)... a storm of smoke, amber, spice, resin, and desert heat, all moving like one living devil creature rather than a list of notes. But what makes it extraordinary is not any single material. It is the way everything fuses together into an accord that feels completely outside the vocabulary of modern perfumery. It's not here to give you pleasure. The notes do not sit beside each other but they interlock, melt, and radiate as one singular entity. Nothing in the market smells like this. There is depth, but not heaviness. There is richness, but not excess. It has a dry, glowing, almost sacred quality, as if incense, woods, spices, amber, and desert air were compressed into liquid form. It feels ancient and futuristic at the same time. A fragrance with soul, structure, and a kind of emotional authority that very few perfumes ever achieve. Andy Tauer, whatever you are doing, keep doing it. This is a masterpiece. I say this without irony: if I had to pay €50,000 for a bottle, I would understand the price. It sits in the very center of my collection, not as decoration, but as a lighthouse. A reference point. A reminder to every other bottle around it of who the king is.

stregonza ha ragione :) I think the vivid description of a cowboy is leading the imagination of people in one narrow direction when it could go in so many others just as easily. Forget the story, see where this scent leads you. For me, this is the smell of my teachers -- older men, worn soft by life and hardship, turning sweeter with age (as indeed this scent turns sweet). It calls to my mind one of my final exams, an oral one. I sat in front of my teacher in an open tent on a camel farm. Why hold an exam on a camel farm? Because we were both attending a wedding taking place there and it was convenient. The smell of the desert, of smoke, cooking somewhere further off, tired leather, my teacher worn out from travel but listening to me patiently. And suddenly it all turns into sweet myrrh, symbolising not success in the exam, but when we were interrupted in the flow of our discussion by the brides passing by, a vision of white surrounded by joyous song and dance. We were obligated by tradition to rise to our feet and go join them, swept along into their train. To me that is Lonestar Memories. To you, who knows? The only key here is the theme of a traveller emerging from wilderness. Wear it while taming Dothraki hordes. Wear it while Enkidu interprets your dreams on the threshold of the cedar forest. Wear it while gathering herbs for a wounded Frodo. In the mundane world? Wear it for that incredibly elusive effect -- grounded magic.

What a difference a few years can make on our preferences towards scent. When I procured this sample ~2 years ago, I remember being quite underwhelmed. It was a dry, bitter leather scent that did little to nothing for me. It almost had that smoked meat quality that some leathers can have, if you've ever smelled through the Etat Libre d'Orange discography, you probably know what I'm talking about. But I'm not sure if it's that my sample has aged, if I have, or if this Texas heat has caused this perfume to magically bloom, but whatever it is, I applied this perfume earlier today and swooned. If I was an animated character, I'm sure I'd look something like Roger Rabbit when his heart did the beating out of the chest thing. Suddenly, it was resinous, sweet, dry, ambery, LEATHERY but with all of the enjoyable aspects and no more of the ones that make me a little sick to my stomach. This did the opposite of repel me as it did before, I've been huffing my arms nonstop ever since. I'm going to need to get a bottle of this, and soon! In the Spring, I had a weird craving for cheap fruity airy scents but now that we're approaching Summer I'm suddenly craving dry, dark ambery fragrances with myrrh, leather, woods and this shot to the top of my list. I'm going to drain this sample over the next few days sadly. And then I'll need to be getting a bottle. Yes in June, in Texas.

@TomSword below me is so correct. If you're put off by the opening, please wait and give it a chance! When first applied I got a whiff of saddle leather, cade, and mostly urine. Weird. Yet also weirdly not awful? I'm not into the urine side of animalic scents, but this wasn't... bad? So sniffing my wrist it actually smells specifically like geranium and (cumin? whole coriander? nigella? celery seeds?) with something a bit sweeter. Maybe the clary sage? I'm guessing this is why it smells kinda nice instead of gross. [Okay, it was carrot seeds when I checked the notes - makes sense!] That actually fades as a cola accord starts to become prominent - possibly dr pepper - with some powder and dust. The leather and cade become deliciously stronger. A very faint animalic growl remains. ...it kind of makes me feel tough as nails and sexy as hell. I'm not above wearing this in a dress and heels. Minimal, clean lines. Delicate accessories. This fragrance. Bold, self-possessed aura. Frankly this is far superior to LDDM and ACDD; it ties with Incense Extreme for the Tauer scents I've tried so far. Gimme all your weirdo layered herbal/floral leather cade resin frags, please.

سلام به همگي من اين عطرو بالاخره بعد ازكلي سختي گرفتم اين يك عطر كاملا خاص مردانست البته خانوم ها هم ميتونن استفاده كنن اما به نظر من مردانه است موردي كه وجود داره اين عطر جز عطر هاي نيش و دست ساز هست پس ممكنه مورد پسند همه نباشه اگه ميخك خشك شده را وقتي در دهان ميزارين. از بو هاي ابتدايي اين عطر است كه به دليل وجود سمغ اين بو احساس ميشه و كم كم صمغي بودن اين عطر خودش را كاملا شكوفا ميكنه و بعد بوي چرم غير آشنايي رو احساس ميكنيد اين بوي چرم رو من در كارهاي ديگه نديدم و اين بوي خيلي خاص تري به عطر ميبخشد اين عطر و من خيلي دوست داشتم اما جهت پيشنهاد به دوستان بسيار پيشنهاد ميكنم كه قبل از خربد تست كنيد چون خيلي خيلي خاصه و شايد نپسندين من عاشقشم نمره ١٠٠ از ١٠٠ ——————— Lots of incense with deep and very projection When you smell it in first time you surrender by lots of myrrh and resins and lots of incense and after that the gorgeous leather is comes to make it better and replace it alittle bit and after 2 or 3 hours dry down with sandalwood Actually nit just sandalwood alone but it change into something bew of everynote that i told you to me as my concern about this is amazing and love it. To me: Scent: 10/10 Projection 8/10 Long Lasting 9/10 Values 7/10

Peculiar. Beautiful. It’s insane to think that a self taught perfumer made this stuff in his basement. At first, there’s an acrid, burnt birch tar, and a dusty, worn leather accord. It’s a far cry from the smooth, clean aniline leather you’d get from Tom Ford, or the traditional russian leather. It’s a rough leather but it’s not overbearingly animalic and it doesn’t overstay its welcome. Then there’s a sandy, resinous, ambery warmth, a bit of indolic jasmine, and lots of mentholated geranium. As it dries down, the birch tar and the leather take the back seat, the composition becomes smoother and more chalky, and the geranium takes the wheel, from then on it’s dry amber and a soapy, smoky, dark greenness all the way until it fades. That opening is very rough but the drydown is fantastic, it’s hardy, medicinal and a bit puzzling, it tends to shift and smells a bit different every time you wear it, which makes it an interesting scent to explore and become familiar with. Fortunately, none of the above prevents it from being wearable, the introduction may test your patience, however, that scruffy, ruggedly handsome drydown is just as likely to win you over.

I really like this one, I received a free sample kit with a purchase of a bottle of l'air 02, very nice of them. The first time I wore it, at first I didn't like it, but as the day went on it started to grow on me. I really liked the myyrh in this, it was very prominent to me the first time wearing it. Very cozy in the dry down. I didn't get any leather, if it was there it was doing something else for my nose, although I may have to sample it again because the second time wearing it, I really got the campfire smoke in the middle that I didn't notice the first time wearing it. I don't know how to describe the opening of this one but It's quite unique, it has similarities to 02 l'air in there, but then takes a different direction. I just sprayed it on a sticky note paper and smelling it again I can pick out leather hiding in there now. This is really really lovely, such a comforting scent. Longevity was great easily lasted through a work day projecting solid for 6-7 hours. No complaints about longevity/sillage or projection from any of tauer samples I've tried so far. Going to put this on my want list and hopefully pick up a bottle at some point.

WOW. I’ve experienced it before, a long time ago. Just don’t know when or where. It could have very well been the pack-outs we used to take with the horses in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Fantastic. It’s not just a smell, it’s an entire experience. Also, this stuff wears like a Parfum. Stetson is also a fine fragrance, and this somehow does what Stetson does but with so much more depth and character; a richer leather and something much more tangible. There is a custard like accord in here that is very good, like what you’d find in a homemade fruit tart. You can almost step right onto a mountainside with the fire crackling, the horse tied nearby, and the faintly lit horizon and stars above as the night spreads itself over the land. I’ve never had a fragrance give me such a vivid picture. This one is a keeper and will be worn with pleasure. The cap idea is a great one. I love the O-ring’s to hold it on and the lightweight cap, obviously meticulously crafted. The cap and bottle are a great design together. My guess is that this perfume will go down in history, and one day be in a museum. It has that kind of potential; a true work of art.

I'm completely in love with this. The opening, sprayed out of the bottle, can only be described as offputting. It’s dirty, acrid and animalistic, almost horsey, which actually kind of works for me but definitely might make some people think twice. I have to admit, I tested this in a sample bottle with no atomiser, so when my full-size bottle arrived and I sprayed it, I was shocked by how different it was from the sultry and inoffensive amber I'd smelled before. As this starts to settle down, there’s a deep, sweet smokiness to it that reminds me of a couple of my favourite LUSH perfumes, like All Good Things and Breath of God, but sexier and more refined than either of those. It’s heady, but not overwhelmingly so. It’s very long-lasting on the skin and projects well. For once, I think the creator’s description works pretty well as an indicator of the vibe. It’s a cowboy, fresh out of the saddle on a starry night, warming himself by a dry brush fire. There’s a hint of the wild to it, night-blooming desert flowers and dark leather. If you like masculine amber fragrances, this is the ONE

Lonestar Memories by Andy Tauer When I first smelled Lonestar Memories some years back, I thought too masculine, too smoky, what is this? Even the description scared me: "The scent of a lonesome rider, wearing old jeans and leather jacket, after a long day on the horse in the dry woods, preparing his coffee on the open, smoky fire." It seemed far too manly for the ladies and I always considered it the most challenging Tauer, and one I would just have to envy others for appreciating. (Insert screeching brakes sound effect and fast forward to fall of 2017) ....What?? Was I mad? It's gorgeous! And now that my nose has become acclimated to unisex fragrances over the years and Andy's style and "Tauerade", I realize how I almost missed out on such a gorgeous fragrance. Smoky leather, resins, labdanum, sandalwood and florals. The dry down is beautiful and comforting and so "real". And no, it isn't all just for cowboys. It's for cowgirls, too. And even people who have never even been on a horse. It's simply a beautiful fragrance. Saddle, campfire and Marlboro Man not required.

An acquired taste this, and based on a sample from Les Senteurs boutique in London. Five years ago I'd have said 'no way, what is this?' but now, since sampling so many fragrances, seek a FB. Scents like this are about memories or feelings conjured from the imagination. I imagine drinking a peaty scotch beside an open fire - wood, not coal or barbecue. To begin with smoke from the fire is strong until it gets going, the scotch then emerges and the tastes and smells blend. Outdoors, perhaps late autumn with a blanket round the shoulder to ward off the chill with a few friends around exchanging stories and drinks. The sweet drydown a rye whiskey to follow. Just chatting, then watching the embers eventually die, but another night of warm feelings, good humour and friendship. This scent is addictive. I also have LADDM, which just pips it, being more versatile but both outstanding. Definitely sample first before you buy, this wont be for everyone. 4/5 Update: think smokey whisky, Ardbeg, maybe Smokehead, then into Southern Comfort. Lovely stuff.

Tauer nos propone aquí una fragancia cuero con una partida de lo más original, el contrapunto lo ponen unos matices bastante rudos y animalicos, este aroma tan particular podría hacer que no gustara a una parte de posibles usuarios. La apertura tiene un inicio muy aromático por la esclarea y las semillas de zanahoria, aquí ya se deja sentir un trasfondo muy balsámico de carácter cálido y dulce por el ámbar, el Tonka y la mirra. El grosor del aroma se lo lleva el cuero, un cuero de carácter ahumado al que se le añade un punto floral animal por el jazmín y el correoso ladano que se deja ver con más intensidad, todo este combo, crea una sensación de un ambiente seco, especiado, suave, que evoluciona muy lentamente hacia un secado más dulce y ambarino, también más convencional que el extraño inicio. Me recuerda al aroma que sientes cuando entras en una fábrica donde trabajan y encurten pieles aplicando sobre ellas calor. La composición es buena, así como las calidades. Personalmente, me hubiera gustado un secado diferente. Calificación: 7.5

This is hands down my favorite fragrance I've ever worn. That being said, is not a fragrance for the faint of heart. The opening is all smoke and fire, almost petrochemical. Once that initial blast dries down, we are on a long leathery ride with a cowboy fond of L'Air Du Desert Morocain. This is not the plush, pretty leather of a luxury car.....this is the leather of saddles and biker jackets, of function, not fashion. Earthy, a bit sweaty, with wood smoke from years of campfires embedded in. After a long ride (somewhere around the 5 hour mark) that unmistakable Tauerade base shines through, woods, incense and a gentle touch of jasmine to smooth out the rough edges. This isn't huge on projection, but it is ridiculously long lasting. It stays at least 12 hours on skin, and my bedding/clothing hold on to traces for a day. All in all, a challenging scent, but absolutely exquisite in its oddness. For most this will definitely skew masculine, but is definitely worth a try for more daring ladies. Like me, you just might fall in love.

I think there is a big difference between interesting and good. They aren't mutually exclusive, but interesting is the one word that I would use to describe most Andy Tauer fragrances. A few of them are good, even wearable. But I don't know if I want to walk around smelling like burning tires, and that is the vibe I get the most here. Not much leather at all until 4 or 5 hours into the dry down, at which point it becomes quite pleasant. But that is a long time to wait. And in the meantime you most likely will smell like something less than pleasant to those around you. There just aren't too many social settings where this fragrance would be appropriate. It's a casual scent at best, and one that is probably best enjoyed alone. Also, as with most Tauer fragrances, less is more. Go very easy on the trigger or your will gass everyone out around you. This is very potent stuff and pushes out a considerable distance.

Today so cold. I really feel he is a valuable companion. My Brendon knight of fortune for this lonely evening 🧡 Leather jacket dusty from the many adventures in a post-apocalyptic medieval-style world, on the back of his Falstaff horse. A vaguely animalic opening, leathery and spicy, to then evolve into one of the many dirty but interesting inns and brothels of encounters and pleasant spirits recalled to me by a warm note of labdanum. Someone is blissfully sucking from a pipe and smoky and aromatic scents arrive. The drydown is the lingering reminder of that meeting for days on the coat. A complete metamorphosis of the fragrances that leads the perfume to be sweet and sensual. One of the most beautiful endings that you can give yourself. Thanks again Tauer and thanks to Claudio Chiaverotti - cartoonist - to whom I borrowed his mercenary knight with a strong character and a noble heart like Lonestar Memories.

This is a great scent and while more masculine than many unisex scents I think this could be worn equally well by either sex. It's all leather, to my nose, with faint hints of germanium and myrrh that play second fiddle. I get leather from first spray through dry down and while the description portrays the rough and tumble characteristics of a manly scent the fact is the leather I pickup in this fragrance is a soft and gentle leather that reminds me more of the smell of a new purse rather than that of a worn saddle. I would imagine that this fragrance could be worn equally well during the day and the night. It has longevity and good sillage without being overpowering to those around you. This also achieved my wife's seal of approval so that's a big plus all by itself!

I love this one. Deeply. I really don ́t care for the opening, but i adore the dry down (with It ́s amazing staying power). And I ́v gotten compliments when wearing this, which don ́t happen often in my world. First time I tried it, i thought it smelled like toothpaste and leather, not bad, but not a combination I felt I wanted to add to my moderate collection. And there were so many other scents from Tauer I wanted really bad! But I tried it again, and became obsessed. It smells like being outdoors with whiffs of smoke in the cold air. There is leather, and freshness (a tad of that toothpaste I wrongfully thought I didn ́t like) and it just feels like a perfect match for me. This one and almost every other fragrance from Tauer I ́v tried so far...

This evokes the idea of high desert scrub. The resinous qualities gently suggest campfire smoke. There's a slightly camphorous heart and on the back end, just as the scent is leaving your nose, soap. There's an aridity to it that is more dust than powder but it's balanced by vanilla. I would say this is a pretty daring and unusual creation though still comfortably on the wearable side of avant garde. Practically speaking, it has the density and longevity of other heavyweights like Parfum Sacre, L'Heure Bleue, or L'elephant. It's also rather linear. All that to say, it's important to be in the mood because you and it will be together for a good while. It'd be a great choice for being outdoors on a cool and breezy day. Superb, in my opinion.

Lonestar Memories opens up really smokey (with some plastic-ey undertone) mixed with myrrh and loads of leather. After about half an hour in, the smokeyness subsides and you're left with the same rugged leather as before, but in addition, the sweetness comes out (could be the tonka). This one lasts a long time, 10 hours+. The opening is very strong and fills the room, but about 1-2 hours in, it does not radiate further than an arms length. I feel like the drydown is quite similar to L'Air Du Desert Morocain. Sweet and gingerbread-like scent (I guess that is what people call Tauerade). Lovely fragrance, definitely worth the price, but personally I will stick with LDDM, because I like it's opening more.

Lonestar Memories is my favorite Tauer fragrance, similar to LDDM (but better), "Tauerade" defined. After the initial, intense blast, it settles down to a resinous, lightly smoky, aromatic composition with a minty, mentholated/medicinal accord that is somehow reminiscent of hot asphalt or creosote combined with dry spices, myrrh and a dash of licorice. It is intriguing and beguiling, unlike anything else I've tried, except LDDM. It's rough around the edges in a good way, a stronger and less polished version of Lonesome Rider, which takes LM into mossy chypre territory. It has great longevity and is fairly linear after it dries down. It's Andy's masterpiece and absolutely full bottle worthy. 9.5/10.

Re-Review....Just adding some thoughts on this juice as I'm wearing my last sample today. I'm still 100% on board with it and although I noticed the likeness first time around I never realised how delicate and LDDM like the drydown is. It opens with smoke but Lonestar is not nearly as smokey as I first thought, that's no criticism in actual fact I like I like it more and more now. I think that might be me becoming more desensitized to smokey perfume after trying things like Profumum Roma Fumidus. Good sillage, projection and Longevity but I have L'air du desert Marocain and I don't think I need this one as well although I think it's just as good if not a little better.

Opens a little harsh. for an untrained nose it very similar to some weird scent at first specially to whom that are not familiar with A.T creations.Do not decide at first sniff and give that a shot.this is a kind of scent that needs time to begin to manifest to its core. As time passes it becomes nice and elegant bitter tobacco and fine leather. On the base notes it grows to even more beautiful scent . A perfect mixture of leather , tonka beans and very faint vetiver. not linear at all so be patient. Don’t blind buy unless you are familiar with A.T works. One of the best in A.T line. 4.5 / 5 Age:+35 Autumn and winter nights. Perfect longevity and projection.

In a couple of other reviews I have referenced the memories that fragrances bring. This one is in that vein for me. When I was a young boy, my dad worked for an auto parts dealer. Every once in a while I would visit him at work. When I wear Lonestar Memories, I am instantly transported to being a young boy at my dad's work. The combination of oil. tar, leather, floor polish and baby oil takes me back there every time. For me, this is a winner. Very much as causal scent though. Great in jeans, but it does not work well in a sports coat. Bottom line, this is a great masculine scent that you should sample. But don't wear it in a sports coat. Go causal.

I love this because it's extremely evocative of its given description. "The scent of a lonesome rider, wearing old jeans and leather jacket, after a long day on the horse in the dry woods, preparing his coffee on the open, smoky fire." Reading that and smelling the scent, it's the same feeling. It's a leathery and smoky, warm but dry. Definitely a more masculine scent despite its unisex label. On me it's like someone took Juicy Couture's cologne Dirty English and made it complex, essentially. There's so much depth to it, and it really does tell a story. Even if it's not something you'd wear, it's worth a try just to experience the story of it.

My favourite leather perfume. I love everything about this. Rich and dense yet projects massively. It’s dark, warm and smoky and reminds me of nothing else. All the listed notes are present here, but like most tauer, they blend together into something different. It’s hard to explain, but when I’m wearing this, it’s definitely part of my outfit. And every time I take my jacket off or put it on, I get a whiff and feel invincible. I can smell this even in my mind when I’m not wearing it, and feel naked, like I didn’t put socks on or a shirt under my jacket. It’s got so much personality and character. 10/10 I always have a spare bottle of it.

Remember that "Bitches from Hell" scene from Thelma and Louise when they confronted the lascivious trucker? This is those gals' fragrance for the occasion. A bit of kerosene, some sweaty denim, but oh, that remnant jasmine of Louise and Thelma's lingering amber (which Darryl thought was sexy). Had this been labelled Lonestar Gals' Memories, the sweetness and richness would be clearer. After some rough and tumble top notes, it makes sense as a guy scent, but after a good half-hour, it's meltingly, deeply, earthily feminine. 'Course, I'm one of them gals who likes my cowboys smellin' like soap and my leather with some fringe. Yeehaw!!!

Up there in the greatest hits of Tauer. Very cartoonish display of masculinity with a tongue-in-cheek delivery. Herbal medicine drank straight from an old cowboy boot. A bit too macho for me to wear so it'll never convert to a full bottle but my sample never fails to move me. I'm surprised people can pick out notes (besides the obligatory Tauerade), it's almost too evocative to even begin breaking down and ruining the illusion. The challenging facets are completely hidden by the fact this is something I'd drink and likely enjoy. A good litmus test to see if someone grew up on root beer or not.

Lonestar Memories is a cowboy scent — an herbal incense leather evocative of horseback rides under a wide sky. It opens with a rich, brown scent, so smooth I can’t tell where the leather ends and the labdanum and myrrh begin. Maybe a little bite of bitter herbs and a touch of smoke. Lonestar Memories goes more herbal an hour or two later, with a bit of an bitter/dried-shrubs edge. It’s not metallic the way clary sage often is, but more like the earthy facets of lavender. It feels like a scrubby chaparral seen through amber-colored glasses. Masculine of center, but wears naturally on me.

First i was utterly repulsed by it but now i love it, it really invokes the image of an cowboy alone at night in the wild taking a rest at a campfire site, it starts really animalic leathery, wild-herbal and frankly kinda disgusting, but like the first time drinking beer i got used to it and began to appreciate it. Then after a 3-5 hours it evolves into an (kinda generic) myrrh and vetiver scent with a little bit of the beginning still being around. That being said, it is really hard to pull off and not the fragrance for crowd-pleasing or good first impressions.

Smoke,leather,incense, balsamic heaven right here!! The opening is straight up smoke and leather but the dry down is where the magic happens. The subtle sweetness of myrhh and labdanum make this much more enjoyable and wearable than other just straight smoke scents such as City On Fire,Fireside Intense etc. This is very creative from the mind of Tauer and is a masterpiece in my book. The drawback is that it does share some similarities to LDDM which is my all time favorite and leans more masculine IMO. Performance is top notch as expected from Tauer.

When I read the notes it sounds like something I really wouldn’t care for. I hate the overdosing of powder and ,amber in a lot of perfumes. Carrot seed? I don’t see why.😳 I came to discover this house because of a tiny sample of ACDD and became familiar with his others through a sampler pack. I thought LM would be neat to try and pulled out my sample during a tcm western. The perfume is beautiful and I’ll soon hopefully own a bottle. It is an exquisite work of art and the bottles are my favorite out there in perfume land

I love this. My second or third favorite Tauer behind LDDM and probably Phi Un Rose de Kandahar. It gains points for being more masculine than Phi. It definitely has the Tauerade foundation which reminds me of LDDM, but with the powerful saddle leather, tobacco and with the sweet incense amped up. It is very powerful so spray accordingly. Definitely the opening is harsh until you get accustomed to it, but the drydown is a beautiful sweet, amber and tobacco with the leather as a subtext. This is brilliant perfumery, IMO.

Tauer - Lonestar Memories : I really love this a lot. It is so different than anything else that I own. It is woody, smoky, spicy, and resinous, with a rugged quality unlike anything I've ever smelled. The reactions of people that I've let smell this is usually one extreme or the other. They usually love it or hate it. This is one that when I walk by it I tend to pick it up, pop the top and smell it. In the last few months that I've owned it, it's become one of my favorite 'go to' perfumes.

I’m jealous that @marjoscarlet’s review down below for LSM was not my own. A more perfect and sequenced description than her words could not possibly be made for this. Go straight to that one. That is all. I can’t say it explicitly reminds me of the time I’ve spent in the great state of Texas, but I get it. Beautiful, smoky geranium (first) and then leathery-sweet myrrhe scent (never exactly animatic to me). Thank you Andy. I blind bought this and it’s the best blind buy I’ve made to date.

O M G it’s amazing! just amazing! One of the best perfumes I have ever smelled. i don't know how good this holy grail is ... it’s just phenomenal. scent : 10/10 longevity : 9.5/10 projection : 9/10 quality : 9.7/10 i get 30% similarities with LDDM - very heavy leather - very heavy myrrh - warm spices - deep dark and balsamic - slightly animalic - and the magic of the scent : very unusual freshness in the heart!! just like star that shine in the deep darkness of the night. pure magic

Not what I expected. I thought it might smell hard or harsh, like some other southwest/cowboy/old west-oriented fragrances. But LM expresses more of a sentimental masculinity, maybe lonesome but not bitter. Also, this fragrance ages beautifully over the course of the day. On me, it generally begins somewhat rough, spicy and leathery, and ends sweet. During the course, each note seems to have a dominant moment. A very nice, meditative experience for me.

I love how when I spray 03 Lonestar Memories, it shouts out to everyone in the area to let them know it has been sprayed. Then it continues to announce it's presence for maybe 30 minutes before it quiets down and lives out your day with you. I'll give a review another day. I'm definitely going to buy this lasts pretty much as long as you might want it to. Projects very well. Had multiple people say it was really strong, but smelled really good.

This is my second review because I remember that I went to big green forest with my friends in France for camping last summer and I had a sample of this perfume. We had a camp fire, barbecue, good vine and more. I put Lonestar Memories on my skin and I don't know why I did it in the forest but I remember everybody talked about how my perfume smells was good. LM is very good and smooth but also creative and exciting. Love it!

The very cuddliest, sweetest, most tactile cowboy. I think that this one must be very specific to individual body chemistry, as I don't find it a dry, barbecue experience at all, nor particularly masculine. It's definitely smoky and leathery, and there are these tiny spikes of vetiver throughout, but on me it's a warm, enveloping, wonderful rainy day scent -- hot chocolate for the soul. My first Andy Tauer FB, and I love it!

Guys, you have to get past the opening on this one. But trust me, it's worth it. It does start out rough, as noted by some of the reviewers, and the comments about medicated oil and even urine aren't wrong. But once it dries down, it's a smooth, masculine, slightly sweet leather accord that lasts and lasts. For me, this jumped straight into my top 5 after just a couple of wears and I went for the full bottle.

This juice will get you compliments. My wife was sound asleep. It was 6:00 am and I was getting ready to head into the office. I had just shaved and put some Lonestar Memories on for the first time. When I came out of the bathroom my wife sat up in the bed eyes still closed and said: "I love that smell!" That is the only time that has ever happened. That's how good Lonestar Memories is.

A lonely telegraph pole in the middle of the desert. The scent of creosote and tar pervades the hot air. Fortunately the sun is setting, the sky is passing through an orange phase before turning dark and making room for the forbearing stars. I can now rest in the softness of Myrrh and Labdanum, still with some harsh strokes from the torments of the hot day. Another great job Andy!

oily 'leather' over tauer's signature amber. leather in air quotes because it's not a distinctly leathery leather. opens a dense, oily, diesel-y 'leather texture' that coats tauer's fizzy amber in a layer of grime. after a few minutes it converges into one and it's like that til the end, which is a great thing masterpiece, i dread the day i don't own this

This is a beautiful scent and it uses the same amber mix as MFK Grand soir, the amber in both, if you compare, are very similar, this is more rugged and goes a different direction than GS and is just very sexy and warm and addictive. Definitely dark, leathery, smoky mixed with the beautiful warmth of amber. This is definitely a must get from Tauer 10/10

There's a ton of reviews below but the only point I can add is that this is truly the only fragrance that has somewhat of an outlandish description of what it smells like and actually delivers on that story. I love it and it truly is a scent you wear for yourself. My wife despises this and you'll make enemies if with the wrong people in close quarters.
