Golestan

Another heartbreak from Tauer's magnificent creations that for whatever reason just disappear on my skin. Golestan opens with a tiny citrusy zing that quickly blooms into a tuberose bomb with a side of jasmine and some lovely earthiness to ground them. It feels like having a giant bouquet of white flowers thrust in your face. Despite the richness of the florals, the overall composition retains a lightness and breathiness. It is so, so well blended and beautifully composed! Over time it becomes slightly deeper with some woody notes but remains a white floral extravaganza (until it suddenly disappears, in my case). Now: my skin hates Andy Tauer's blends. For the first hour the perfume announces itself loudly and fills an entire room but the performance drops like a brick, projection and sillage disappearing almost suddenly. At a 2 hour mark it's a barely noticeable, intimate skin scent that requires me (and other people, yes, this has been peer reviewed) to press their noses to my wrist to get the barest hint of perfume. And then it fizzles out to absolute nothing within 3 hours from application. This performance issue is painful. Golestan goes up to 11 on sillage and projection and then drops down to almost nothing just as quickly. It is a lovely scent that I wish I could enjoy for more than 1,5 hours, however I can't imagine reapplying this beast multiple times per day either. If only if performed differently on my skin, I wouldn't hesitate to order a full bottle! Hopefully something will change about my skin chemistry in a couple of years :)

The Etiket boutique in Montreal is an official supplier of Tauer fragrances in Canada and I placed an order for Golestan almost immediately after it became available. I'm delighted to own a bottle and share what I think about the scent: Opening: Real orange blossom has an green, earthy, and sweet component to it in addition to the floral aspect. This fragrance opens with an orange blossom note that exactly captures those complex facets and steers clear of the sterilized orange blossom you smell in most designer fragrances. Heart: Creamy tuberose and huge presence of iso e super and ambroxan. The amount of Iso E that I was smelling when I put my nose close to my wrist actually shocked me, I thought maybe I had sprayed Molecule 01 on my hand before but no. Not bad at all but definitely my least favorite stage of the fragrance. Base: The Iso E note significantly calms down and makes way for a dry jasmine accompanied by powdery sweetness. A very calming and lovely dry down. I'm surprised I did not pick up a rose note during my first few wearings of this but that might change in the future. I think what really sells this fragrance for me is how voluminous it smells. It's a "big" perfume in the same sense as Oud Satin Mood that it never feels "thin" in terms of composition. It just radiates with these candied floral notes at all stages and fills rooms with the sillage.

Well, I did a test strip in the store and took it home, and then next morning I could still smell this potent white floral in my room. It's a white floral overdose, so you kind of have to be ok with indoles. Smells perhaps like a mix of Penhaligan's Orange Blossom with Profumum Roma Sabia Bianca. I was compelled to get a full bottle today. The bottle artwork is also lovely. UPDATE: I've had this for a couple years now. Performance is still stellar. Wanted to add to my original review that the ambergris and the "cistus incanus" (which I believe is labdanum?) in the base are very strong and somewhat biting and sharp. It steers this from a creamy white flower direction, into a more old-timey oriental perfume direction. I've had mixed reactions from friends who have smelled this on me. I think most folks dont really know what ambergris smells like, let alone cistus, they just know its something foreign and odd to their nose, so they make that sour facial expression and say "what is THAT smell?". UPDATE 2: I was getting too many bad reactions from folks at work. Its very potent, I was only doing one squirt, but man it caused such a commotion, I ended up selling it on ebay.

Ok what kind of sorcery is that ? I put a tiny bit of this juice on a piece of paper and cannot stop smelling it. I can see/feel the garden of flowers. Heavenly. And coming from Tauer the quality and lasting power is there. Among the sea of mediocre and overpriced niche fragrances out there I'm getting really impressed with Tauer perfumes. Better late than never :) I don't think anyone will think you smell like fanta if you wear this one ... Edit : I've been wearing it several times and in the end I am mostly smelling ylang-ylang, cinnamon and strong orange blossom. There's no cinnamon in the notes above but I really do smell something that reminds me cinnamon... or some other spices. Personally I do like it, it adds some gourmand-middle eastern aspect to the scent. In the end this is not a straightforward white floral and I guess this is a good thing since I already have a couple of white floral fragrances.

I really heart this. God I smell the Taueraide, which is in ALL of his perfumes, but I just do not get sick of it. Golestan opens up with extremely buttery white florals. It smells a bit vintage compared to all his other stuff, like Joy by Patou calibur vintage floral. I thought I smelled a touch of orange specifically, not lemon or bergamot as the pyramid suggests. As it dries down more orange blossom creeps in, and it starts to smell like nag champa and vanilla, and that's where the Taueraide becomes more obvious too. Deep in there is a very pure rose that reminds of the quality of the rose in his PHI Rose. I haven't read about the concept behind this perfume, but it takes me straight to the India of my imagination, like a summer festival full of color. It's truly a beautiful fragrance, and I feel it's a white floral that would smell amazing on guys too.

Recently I have ordered some newly released perfume samples, Golestan being one of them. This time, to be totally surprised, I've decided to blind sniff them. There I was sniffing one after the other and nothing was really exciting until the moment I smelled the most opulent scent of them all, one that made me roll my eyes in awe. To my surprise it was Golestan!!!! What an absolute masterpiece!! It is floral, rich, nostalgic, warm and powdery. The dry down does remind me of Tuberose Sotto la Luna from Tauer. I don't find it similar to Femme from Rochas, which, by the way, I own and love. Whereas Femme is sharp and big, Golestan is subtle, like a whisper. Not at all similar to Creed for the same reason, Creed is loud and sharp. This year I have tried many new releases from many indie houses, but this one is 5 out of 5. Bravo!

Sa'adi is hailed as the "Master of Speech" in Iran. His most significant work, the "Golestan", is considered a cornerstone of persian literature that influenced intellectuals, poets, and writers across the world centuries after him. He was born in my hometown of Shiraz and is buried there. When you walk the streets of Shiraz, you will inevitably end up in one of the many where orange trees from the yards of the residents cast a shadow over the pathway. You will smell the intoxicating orange blossom of Shiraz, it's jasmine sambac plants arranged on the edge of the walls, and the stacks and stacks of hyacinth, Mohammadi rose (Iranian name for Turkish rose), and tuberose in the flower shops. I cannot wait to try Andy Tauer's interpretation of a golestan and compare to the memories I know and love from the golestans of Shiraz.

This might just be the most erotic tuberose on earth. Dirty, but deliciously so; indolic, yes, but perfectly balanced. There’s that powdery patchouli I call gothic talc, dressed in a bouquet of flowers: indolic ylang-ylang, a beautiful orange blossom, and a touch of something deeply carnal. The salty gray amber; that signature Tauer DNA I first adored in Au Coeur du Désert is also here, grounding the lush white florals in something more shadowed. As it warms, the sweetness of vanilla and other cozy notes smooth everything out, turning it into a creamy, full-bodied floral dream. A cathedral of white petals; thick, radiant, and alive with forbidden warmth. Just a few spritzes fill the room and it lingers for hours. I keep catching whiffs of it, again and again. This is M A G N I F I C E N T ! ! ! I just got a sample today and even though Tuberose is a scent I struggle with, here in Golestan, it works so well with the Orange Blossom. This is VERY floral, white floral with a definite oriental spin to it. It seems I have already smelled this before but I honestly cannot put my finger on it...maybe it’ll come to me later. However, this is unbelievably wonderful! When I smell Golestan, I am transported straight to gardens inside a palace with innumerable flowers. There is the sound of a crystalline fountain nearby, the faint sound of music and laughter...there is sunshine, innocence and happiness...oh, this is beautiful! This is the scent of the best possible dream! This is masterfully blended, I have to get my hands on a full bottle of this ASAP!!!

Sweet syrupy white flowers (more ylang-ylang than tuberose in my opinion) and candied rose on a bed of honeyed woody notes. Later on the typical tauer base comes through: woody notes, amber and labdanum, but with a generous dollop of vanilla. The latter is still woody, the bean rather than the inside, flirting with the border to gourmand, but never quite crossing it. It reminds me of the drydown of my beloved discontinued Alien Essence Absolue with its woody vanilla and white flowers. This fragrance is beyond intoxicating. It’s fun and flirty, doesn’t take itself very seriously at all, but damn does it have depth. I’m not sure I could justify owning it because I have both Alien Essence Absolue and l’Air du Desert Marocain. But gods do I want it. 100% full bottle worthy.

Real 10 out of 10 Performance 10 Creativity 10 {Love in a bottle 10} 😂 Best sillage ever, I came home with only one little spray of Golestan on my wrist , and everywhere in our building smells like a twist of creamy white flowers with orange blossom and of course a strong sweet accord of amber... Always a big fan of Andy Tauer, but as an IRANIAN this one absolutely magnetized me... I know it was inspired by Golestan Palace in Tehran and the beautiful architecture and the garden in the palace, And feel like the perfumer inserted his heart into this bottle... I didn’t find it attractive on boys actually (but my brother said it was alluring) and I prefer wearing it on formal occasions or date nights, but who will stop any boys from enjoying it?

Blind buy because I love this house. Not disappointed any bit. It’s 200% Tauer signature - so from this perspective don’t expect something different. It has a strong DNA of both LDDM and Gardenia Sotto la Luna, same recognisable incense base, same sweetness, but more floral, whiter, more luminous. If LDDM and Le Maroc Pour Elle are dense, rich, amber potions, Golestan is a brighter white flower bouquet very subtly balanced between the tuberose and orange flower. I feel less the rose however in the very floral projection of the fragrance, it’s not a rose dominant fragrance but it does support the white flowers from the background. The most floral of the line, and a very nice addition to the family and easy to wear without being simple at all.

Love the scent and love the story behind it. And love that there is a story behind it. A beautiful feminine scent that smells really natural and still strong. Exotic and sensual but not flirty. I can ́t make out the individual notes at all - like the citrus - they are so well blended into this one thing. Seems to stay pretty much the same hour after hour, which is not a bad thing. Masterful work. 160 CHF for this is a bargain. Seems very versatile to me, appropriate for any situation; unique but not divisive and should be easy to wear. I am not sure how this would work in the summer heat, since it is not a light perfume, but with the citrus notes in there might be ok. Oh, and: definitely NOT FANTA.

To me, this fragrance smells exactly like the bottle looks. It's just perfect. It reminds me of the way Shalimar smells in my memory - but not in reality. It's a great amber. It's powdery but no play dough smell. Really a lovely amber disguised as a floral. I blind bought it and then kind of dismissed it. Thought I might sell it but no, after smelling it and trying it a few more times - it's totally a love for me. I think you could wear this in 3 seasons and possibly the summer. It definitely could be a signature scent. Leans "feminine" but also would love to smell this on a man. Longevity is great and decent projection too. Very sexy. 5/5. Don't love the price.

So powerful! The sillage and the longevity of this are both through the roof for this very lovely floral fragrance. Ylang-ylang, the dominant note, does not lean as feminine as the indolic white florals behind it, so even though this does lean feminine, I can see many men wearing this (even given that men often shy away from white florals). The base notes (amber, vanilla, and patchouli among them) also help round this off by enriching it and deepening it without making it too dense or too sweet. This does smell like a beautiful Middle Eastern garden, so the name is wonderfully fitting. Another hit out of the ballpark by Andy Tauer.

This was a risky blind buy for me, but I LOVED the bottle and the composition. On first wear I really wasn’t sure, I think it’s the animalic note that I was finding challenging. It was also just after the bottle arrived from France, so possibly needed to let it settle. So today, on second wearing, it’s grown on me a lot. It’s a really refined, cleverly-balanced symphony. I agree with another reviewer who said different notes become prominent, and I even get that metallic hint of petrichor once in a while (which I love and is perfect for spring!) I do think this is a fantastic scent for the season and I’m falling in love with it.

I received a sample from Les Scenteurs and it has now become my number one fragrance on my wishlist. Although there are no obvious similarities to Poeme, both exude rich florals and honey. They both evoke bright images of blooming fields filled with yellow flowers and buzzing bees. In Moon Bloom, there is a noticeable rubbery tuberose note that I didn't find as prominent in Golestan. This gorgeous scent is a sweet, yet not cloying white floral fragrance. The combination of white floral notes reminds me of linden honey, with a subtle hint of patchouli adding a slightly medicinal quality to it.

The sticker on the bottle representing an Iranian Palace and very beautiful... I love their colorful architecture and all... about the scent, i have to say this is one of the MOST STRONG perfumes of all. No kidding, one spray and there you go, there is a aura around you and a sign you have walked there 2 hours ago... I feel white flowers and tuberose, jasmine, and orange blossom just when perfumes opens, you can follow amd sence TAUER QUALITY as it cools down and an ambery-creamy feeling shows up... one of the best of 2023-2024 I give a 9/10

Rich florals (mainly the ylang-ylang and tuberose) with a warm spicy base. There is a common thread between this and Au Coeur du Désert as the base smells so similar with the coriander and cumin (even though it’s not listed), so much so it could be the floral flanker to Au Coeur du Désert. Some reviewers said it smells like grape soda or grape vitamins, and I can actually get that somewhat. I think it’s the fruity floral mixed with the spices. But those references lack the nuance and richness of this perfume. Performance is also really good.

Mmhhh... this is a dream for lovers of tuberose and orange blossom fragrances! The tuberose, along with some ylang-ylang, is quite strong from the first spray onwards. Jasmine and orange blossom enter the stage a few minutes into the drydown. I get a very natural impression of Golestan, just like a lovely blend of essential oils. The scent is therefore also lightly indolic, but not so much that it should offend anyone, more like a tropical garden. This is definitely a must-try for enthusiasts of natural-smelling white flower scents.

Golestan, whom I have been waiting for 1 month, came to Turkey from France. Everyone has explained it and I don't need to explain it too, but I made 5-6 sprays and I can't smell it. One spray on my wrist has been smelling for 5.5 hours. Does this have anything to do with the long journey? Friends, does anyone know why Tauer's sprays spray less and shorter? They said 1 spray fills the room. I spray 5-6 sprays and it becomes normal. sprays are very low. I don't understand how 1 spray is enough. Please enlighten me.

I do think this is a masterpiece, I’ve smelt so many samples over the past year, and this one just stood out as an original and beautiful creation. It’s not often you come across such an original perfume. As soon as I smelt the sample from Les Senteurs, I bought a full bottle. Wearing it you have the sensation of catching different facets of the perfume, as if on a breeze, sometimes the tuberose, then the vanilla, something powdery... This is lovely to wear as we start Spring in the UK

There’s something deeply familiar and nostalgic about this scent—I know this scent. but can’t quite place from *where*! This smells like a perfume from my childhood in the 90s that I used to love, but can’t quite place exactly which perfume it was. All of my favorite notes mixed together in a way that is so sublime and a cut above the rest. It’s an instant classic for me. It was an immediate yes within the first 30 seconds of dabbing this on my wrist.

Wow wow wow This is so good! I bought blind buy and amazed , I have to say it’s more on feminine side but longevity and special the two big factor i can say. I don’t understand some comment here that they compare with other perfumed but after Corona this is not special anymore that some people loose their sense and can not understand anymore many fragrances. Definitely recommend for girls and woman wow i love to smell it on girls 100% perfect

I love Golestan. If I didn’t have a Gardenia tree on my patio, I would think Golestan is too sweet. I would think ‘nothing natural smells like this.’ But Golestan is the closest perfume I’ve smelled to the natural fragrance of the Gardenia blossoms on my Gardenia tree. It’s a striking match, and a much better match than Gardenia Sotto la Luna. When I wear Golestan, I feel like I’m wearing the beautiful white blossoms of my Gardenia.

Based on a sample from the wonderful Le Senteurs. Now this is actually quite lovely, a bright, almost juicy, sticky opening drying to rose with a dusting of amber and some marmalade wafting around. This leans feminine to me and if sat next to someone wearing I'd be inclined to offer a compliment. I see some mentioning a falling away in performance but it was long lasting on me, and more than a skin scent. Stunning bottle too! 4/5

Was curious about this fragrance so I ordered a decant. First couple of sprays smelled like celery to me, but then I let it sit in the bottle for about a month and tried again and it smelled amazing. This quickly has become one of my favorite fragrances of all time. I put one spray on my shirt on a hot sunny day at around 4pm and I could still smell it when I woke up the next morning. Well worth the money.

This is just divine. Rich, decadent. Waxy tuberose, earthy and tangy ylang ylang. You may have to let this breathe in open air if heady florals tend to overwhelm you. There is a bubble around me that is activated with every movement. If you live and die for lush white+ florals, this is a fun blind buy (I sampled it, though). A white+ floral for fall, winter, cool spring.

One of the best white flowers bouquet on the market. very well blended with quality materials. There is a very qualitative beautiful tuberose that I can smell with the Andy's amber signature. This is 10 times more interesting of Carnal Flower Fredric Mall. This is Head turner fragrance with an enormous projection and longevity ! 10/10

Opens citrus and a bit spicy The tuberose as the main star is slighty dirty and animalic and definitely plasticky It is accompanied by jasmine, which adds to the dirty aspect of the fragrance Orange blossom, ylang and vanilla however contribute to clean, sweeter notes I think it's a stunning combination, I love it

This leans feminine but most men could pull this off easily. It's beautiful and is Spring in a bottle. The citrus is muted slightly and the real star is the jasmine. Somehow the tuberose becomes more masculine in the blend. It's a very comforting blend. This might be my Spring signature.

I have the big bottle. I really love Golestan. But I am not happy with its spread and performance at all :( Even though I sprayed 7-8 times from the bottle, it almost fades after 5 hours. I have 3 Tauer perfumes. Their atomizers spray incredibly little. Does anyone know why this is?

holy cow now THIS is how you do a white floral... such a stunning, full-bodied scent but it never gets overwhelming. i honestly think i got a sample of this because i loved the bottle but i'm very glad i followed through. such a masterful mix of notes on display here

Incredibly citrusy and incredibly white/yellow floral—a bouquet of jasmine, tuberose, orange blossom and above all to my nose ylang-ylang. An ambery rose emerges with warmth. Makes me feel like I could ascend to an astral plane. Supremely natural florals.

A delicious, warm, and complex white floral. Lacks Tauer’s signature sparkling opening, but that’s more than ok. Gucci Bloom parfum is the designer version of this. Both are wonderful, but Golestan is a masterpiece.

This is a big, well blended floral. My nose is picking up a honey note that's going animalic on me, I don't see honey listed so it must be one of the other floral notes or a combination thereof. Rose is present, but not so much that I could say it's any more or less than the other floral notes. I'm saying floral notes a lot, lol, but this is a straight up floral ;), Almost seems retro, but not. You'd smell this on my interpretation of a Lady Who Lunches, of any age, just very classy. Classic. This being a Tauer, I was expecting some type of spice, but there isn't any. The base notes aren't really present per se, but you can catch whiffs of ambergris here and there as an underpinning. Not really creamy, more photo realistic garden composition. It's beautiful but not one I'd probably wear. I have my beloveds from Tauer, PHI Une Rose Kandahar, Vanilla Flash, Orange Star ~ but the one common thread between all of his perfumes is that he knows how a fragrance should be structured for the the wearer to enjoy. So while I won't be buying more than a sample of Golestan, if this is your type of floral you should definitely try it.

On my skin, the base notes of patchouli and cistus are equally as strong as the various white flowers right from the start. It gives this a little bit of a funky vibe on me, which I don’t mind at all but isn’t what I expected. Interestingly, when I put my wrist to my nose these base notes are all I smell, but the white flowers start to kind of float through the air around me when I’m not trying to smell them. I can’t really differentiate between all the kinds of white florals because they aren’t that present, still overshadowed by the deepest notes. Wood comes in within an hour or two, and the aforementioned funkier notes mellow a bit, with the florals coming forward some, and I start to really like this but unfortunately as others have noted the fragrance only lasted on me a few hours. I didn’t experience a whole lot of progression either since I was able to smell most of the notes right from the start. I like this but probably not enough to purchase. Pretty bottle and the story is appealing.

Another beautiful creation from Andy Tauer. Tested from a sample. The ylang ylang steps out first, shining with a beautiful exotic tropical sweetness. Then the jasmine saunters in, quietly and contributes gentle floral sweetness, without being showy or too bawdy. I'm getting traces of tropical island / coconut in this, even though coconut is not listed as one of the notes. There is a bit of shimmer from the orange blossom and bergamot, but well balanced like a carefully prepared cocktail. However, it all fades too quickly, leaving vanilla and ambergris lingering close to the skin. The first Tauer I've tried that does not have the woody/cedar notes lingering behind. In my opinion, this one is not worth the price of the full bottle due to performance, but it might just be the dry indoor (winter) air. I really like this, but it might very well be limited to being a "summer" fragrance, needing warm humid air to truly blossom.

Instant love. I love so much about this. The Farsi name, the beautiful artwork on the bottle, the scent itself...what a lovely floral. Golestan means flower garden, and this is exactly that, but not your usual one. I smell the tuberose, ylang ylang, jasmine, rose, and orange blossom in equal amounts. What a perfect bouquet! The flowers have this sparkling quality. The earthy rocky salty nature of ambergris ties it all together. The earthiness mixed with the sparkling flowers made my husband think this was a chocolatey Mugler fragrance. It has a vintage floral vibe but is also totally unique. A little animalic, like masculine skin, so don't blind buy (and maybe I wouldn't purchase for myself, so I've marked it as like so I don't confuse myself), but I do want to buy this for my mom, I think she would love it. So beautiful.

Golestan is an amber floral fragrance that beautifully combines white flowers and rose at its heart, creating a refined and masterful blend. The middle floral notes blend well with the Ylang-ylang top note and the ambery-vanilla drydown. The fragrance has a hint sweetness, and to my nose, vanilla plays a significant role here. It reminds me of the original New Look by Dior with the addition of citrus notes. It's more feminine and suitable for springtime. I believe the most crucial aspect of a fragrance is having a unique character, and I sense that unique character in Golestan. Real floral essential oils are quite costly, but they also offers a deep, exotic, and sensual scent, all of which can be experienced in this fragrance. Another great fragrance from the Tauer house 9/10

This is unlike any white floral-forward fragrance I’ve smelled before. At the opening, the ylang-ylang and tuberose are very lush, and have an almost honey-like quality. After the scent settles a bit, the decadent rose appropriately announces itself, as Iran was one of (if not the) first places in the world to grow and cultivate the flower. After further drydown, the ambergris begins to come forward a bit more, adding warmth and for me sense of comfort. The vanilla maintains a creaminess but is not too sweet. Overall I like this fragrance! Golestan is warm without being spicy, animalic with no hint of dirtiness. The vanilla and ambergris in combination with the florals are luxurious. It is unique, complex, and has good staying power but for me isn’t overwhelming.

I remembered the sunlight catching the mirrored walls, the quiet rustle of jasmine and orange blossom in the breeze. A touch of raspberry, like the taste of childhood, melts into smoky oud and golden amber—deep, lingering, eternal. Andy Tauer didn’t just create a perfume. He bottled longing, history, and the soul of a place I love. Every time I wear it, I am home.

It took me a few samples and some time to decide on buying a full bottle. I liked it from the start, but I'm usually not a huge fan of tuberose and here it's definitely the star of the show, but eventually it grew on me. It's an oriental bouquet of mostly white flowers and ylang-ylang, sweet and salty and indolic. Very lovely. Like all Tauer perfumes Golestan feels very natural. Drydown is a little animalistic and vanillic, which is common with jasmine fragrances I find. @stereohydrate if you think it Golestan has poor performance I think you might be nose blind, I have a flu right now and I can smell it all day.

At first, I didn’t quite get this fragrance. It felt closed off, like it needed time (or warmth) to fully open up. But once it did, it was stunning. This is the scent of a forest alive with energy. Towering evergreens surround you, their resinous sap seeping in glistening streams. It’s rich and golden, buttery smooth, yet grounding in its depth. While these bold, resin-soaked notes don’t align with my usual preferences, they possess an undeniable allure.

This is sweet, especially at the beginning. I was concerned I was not going to like it, becuase I dont tend to enjoy very sweet florals. But, then the initial intensity wore off and what remained was honeyed orange blossom. Super pretty. Reminded me of Elie Saab le Parfum, but with more complexity. I like it.
