Nexin

So happy to have been able to get a bottle of this. Because it was limited release, Tauer himself did not make it available to sample. With such a diverse assortment of notes, it was very hard to judge what direction it might go in, but I am certainly pleased with where it has taken me. To put it in the most simple terms, it is an herbal aromatic. It's incredibly fresh and uplifting. To me it smells somewhere in between a luxurious hotel soap and a very nice laundry detergent. It's detergent-like in the same way that many of Francis Kurkdjian's creations are (like his own 724 or JPG Fleur de Male). However, Tauer has incorporated a nice woody base of vetiver and oakmoss that really starts to come out in the heart and dry down. This one starts fresh and soapy, but then transitions to an herbal woody as the day goes on. Projection and sillage are moderate, as one might expect as extraits tend to sit closer to the skin. Longevity is good but nothing extraordinary. Overall, it's a great fragrance and I am pleased with my purchase. My only quip is that I wished it had been released in the spring because I think this will shine best during that time of year.

I managed to snag a bottle after only recently finding this perfumer, and I guess I have a more favorable opinion than most people. I don't see the problem with a limited release - it's expensive to make fragrances and extra expensive if that particular fragrance doesn't sell well. I think more makers should follow this model, but maybe in smaller bottles at slightly more reasonable price points. Now, on to the actual fragrance. This is a true, pure fougere to my nose. It smells like history. I definitely get the bitter citrus up front, but what stands out for me is a strong, herbal lavender that lingers...which is supposedly not part of the recipe. Maybe it's actually the geranium? It's sharp, clean, and slightly masculine. Yes, soapy, but in the best way possible.

The negative reviews seem to be dictated more than anything by not having been able to purchase the fragrance (which among other things is still available in many shops, for example in Italy). It is an exclusive, truly niche perfume. I recommend it to all those who are nostalgic for Fleur du male (but this one is obviously even better, it has more depth, more character, and certainly longer duration). Elegance and exclusivity have their price, I have nothing to reproach Andy Tauer for.

Deary me...Seems like the people giving this fragrance a hard time are the people who couldn’t get hold of a bottle...🙄 Giving the guy grief and boycotting him because of the name he chose for this fragrance...I’m pretty sure that if you’d managed to get a bottle you’d be agreeing with the people saying they’re pleased with it? Definitely a case of the green eyed monster .. Smells gorgeous btw

Another corker from Andy. Only thing is whilst it is a complicated note makeup it is in essence just a simple Bergamot perfume with the most subtle of quirks. And there in is the issue. Essential Perfumes and Le Labo (which is usually I find very overpriced/overrated) make some of the better and cheaper alternatives. I still love you Andy keep it coming 😉

Sharp, strong, piquant vetiver - long lasting... Very my like Byerly by PDM except way smoother... A perfect EDP version of Guerlains Vetiver Extreme or a broader smoother version of Carner Barcelonas Drakon. I’m sorry I didn’t by a full bottle... The votes for comparable products are utterly wrong and misleading...

As per my review below - Astonishingly strong - I neglected to point out the citrus aspects help remind me of tart bitter green orange zest bodied out with the vetiver. Sublime if you love strong scents

The best vetivery I've tested yet. Super quality, very special, very different. I had the chance to have this beautiful limited edition from Andy. 10/10

Salty vegetal almost metallic vetiver. Ambergris is definitely present, but vetiver is the main discernable note: everything else blends to create a complex slightly sour sheen. Inarguably high quality and well constructed, and blended with a slightly lighter hand than I'd typically expect from Tauer (which in my mind is a good thing, but it was notable that this isn't quite as punchy as other Tauer scents). This scent is more masculine than unisex, and as a woman I find Terre d'Hermes more wearable in the vetiver category as the bright citrus offers a more feminine lean. I'm glad I had a chance to sample this, but don't regret missing out on a full bottle. And for those who are sad to have missed out: the vetiver space is relatively saturated with great scents, and while this has unique facets it won't be impossible to find an option in a similar vein.

Unisex fragrances usually don’t strike too close to ‘a good fit’ for me. Usually they sit in a category of ‘Good but would I actually wear this?’ Most of the time it’s no, there’s a list of fragrances that I rate highly but just don’t couldn’t wear. The list of unisex fragrances that I would wear is short. This is not due to any prejudice against unisex fragrances moreover I have found them to veer towards sweet. I am inclined to think that this is intentional by the brand/perfumer What Andy Tauer has created here is exactly the kind of fragrance that is truly ‘unisex’. It satisfies that particular narrow criteria that I have placed upon these type of fragrances. There’s no lean towards masculine or feminine but it remains squarely in the centre. The issue though is that though this has so many notes that I like and would ordinarily go for, it’s not a fragrance I would see myself buying a full bottle of; I don’t understand the negative reactions to this though. Nexin is an awful perfume. Tauer is a visionary independent perfumer, who I believe to be both technically proficient and an artist who is constantly striving to innovate, which is a great quality to have and while I believe his greatest work is also his most commercially successful and in my opinion the nadir of his whole back catalog. Being LDDM and associated perfume, not saying he's a one hit wonder but when you've reached those kind of dizzying heights the follow up is always going to be that tricky second, third and fourth album. This is probably not a popular opinion among fans because he does have a uncompromising style which is not only a hard thing to do but if you're onboard with it you might tend to overlook shit like Nexin and give him a genius pass. I'm not that much of a fan so I'm going to shit all over it. For me this smells primarily of orange blossom, not an appealing one either but curdled with that creamy handcream vetiver (like vetiver dance) which to some people is lovely but I get a sort of stagnant water vibe. Then there's this incipid minty, camphor at the top and a sort of human element to it. I find the composition messy and ugly but thankfully not long lasting and forgettable. So I like the idea of combining mint and orange blossom as a sort of North African concept, I love the cool, dry minty florals of geranium usually and I think this idea has legs but to me something is amiss here and it gives me no pleasure to say so. Sorry I thought Nexin was horrific. Update: 16/07/25 Okay so perhaps I should be following my own golden rule of not casting harsh judgements too early. While I still maintain this is some pretty ugly perfume, it actually wears much better than it did when I sprayed it on my arm to evaluate and wrote a kneejerk review because I was so appalled and couldn't wait to let everyone know. This is not technically bad either, that was a bitchy comment too far, It has this dry, lavender geranium, like an unsweetened rose decay, over a pretty nasty orange blossom latex and piercing citrus opener. It's a unique proposition and didn't require being scrubbed because in truth it's not that bad, a funky piece of skin art is the nicest thing I can say Nexin amounts to, and dries down better than the opening which is still a shocker.

Nexin is PUTRID The citrus, soap and rotting dirt smell is a truly horrible combo It makes me gag, and it's supa cloying even though its not sweet I had to throw the testing strip out bc it poisoned my room It's literally unwearable. I can't stomach this stuff L'Air du Desert Marocain and Coeur du Desert are incredible I love them so I bought a decant of this, knowing nothing about it (it was expensive and hard to find) A fun experience, but a disgusting fragrance Really strange stuff Other people seem to be smelling something completely different to me though, so who knows Btw this smells nothing like Reflection, and apparently the reviews for this are from bots

This starts out clean, slightly salty and very smooth. However soon the vetiver predominates and it becomes quite sharp. I like it but it needs more musk so I blend it with my great, fluffy musks and it works well. I am happy to have a bottle to add to my collection but if you missed out- don’t worry. I don’t think it’s worth it. There are much better clean, unisex options out there at a fraction of the price- unless you are obsessed with vetiver.

This perfume is Tauers take on fougere. The simplest way to describe it is Fougere Royale with Tauers DNA of musks and florals. Its a combo of classics and modern elements. Overall - not bad, even from a standpoint of someone who doesnt like fougeres with a pasion, but also nothing revolutionary. No issues with longevity and projection is strong.

Overhyped boring nutty vetiver nothing worth going out of your way for ~ hilarious how many brands are using the fomo tactic to sell the epitome of mediocrity since clearly marketing is what rules the perfume industry these days rather than the composition itself. Do better.

So pathetic to see Mr Tauer trying to get clout for his bang average fragrances. This one was 1000 limited edition and 3rd place on best niche perfume? How many people have put this on nose? Be logical brother.

Limited release(almost impossible to get/test) with a hefty price tag for a 50ml. Manufactured rarity to create hype. I thought better of Tauer to pull off a marketing stunt like Nexin.

I took a leap of faith and purchased this perfume without knowing what to expect, eagerly anticipating its arrival and hoping for a delightful surprise or perhaps some unfortunate luck.
