Panache

Just ordered this because I remembered my Mum used to wear it when I was little. Couldn't remember what the smell was, so really a blind buy. Very strong on to start with, but that may be me as I have asthma, but nothing that meant a trip to A & E! Lovely bright opening, that soon gentles down to a light citrusy floral. After about an hour on me, it gets a really strange vibe, I can only describe as funky earth. I'd take a stab at it being the oakmoss as it's not a note I'm familiar with, but it passes after 30 minutes, so no biggy. The drydown is delicious. Powdery, musky and I get a little smokey vetiver, all with a wistful rose drifting over it. Lasts a good 8 hours, and 12 as a skin scent. For something so inexpensive, it is a well constructed perfume, and one I will always keep 'in stock'. I'll also try and find an original Lentheric version to do a comparison.

Smells like Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche

Since this is a blind buy and it wasn't in the database when I decided to buy it, I didn't know what to expect. That made my expectations higher than usual. I personally was not disappointed. On my skin this starts out POW!dery :-) I sense flowers, rose and carnations, but the overwhelming scent is a lady's boudoir. Not bad, since it's very affordable. I do not get any citrus scent at all. It lasts more than 10 hours and the drydown is pleasant, the sandalwood and oakmoss in e pleasant mix.

This is a great 1970s style aldehyde. It's soapy and clean and smells a bit like talc. From my ancient memories, this is how lots of women smelled when I was growing up. It's slightly old fashioned, which I like, and smells like Sandalwood, Roses, Jasmine, Thyme and Myrhh. It's floral and spicy and powdery, and really lovely. It's cheap too. I'd much rather smell this on people than ubiquitous fruity florals.

This is an amazing perfume for a low price. It has great longevity too. It is light, uplifting and gentle. Hard to say what are the main notes - citrus, white floral, aldehyde and some warmth.

Well, it was always Panache, by Lentheric ofc, when I was a little girl - & ouf the aldehydes - but it wasn't exactly unpleasant - a bargain basement Rive Gauche, if you like (I dislike that one more, though) - this one, I didn't exactly hate. Mumsy, maybe; not in a bad way - but it didn't suit the teenage girls who wore it when I was a littlething girl. & for sure - many wore this right through well into the nineties, for years - before it disappeared, for a while,I remember well enough, it lingering in public bathrooms & shops, though I was literally a child. Am guessing, ofc - that it was "inspired by" YSL Rive Gauche - those aldehydes are v distinctive & had blue packaging to mimic that. Its not bad, at all, the base motes can be a bit metallic, but again YSL RG can be too.. It's a definite lower end, (sold on the ordinary shelves in the chemist, ) type perfume, but it's not hideous. If they removed the aldehydes then many more might love this too. This is the perfume which truly fits with "it is what it is." It could be much worse, at that price point, (& better this, than say "Tweed by Lentheric" - oh my! I never could bear that one - but this, is not do bad, a bit soapy, but clean, nevertheless - now Tweed; ouf, what would your average teenager today make of that one I wonder?! Re this; my mother tells me that, mid eighties, many, teens wore this, & many adult ladies too; I remember young mums & ladies in thirties, myself, but at that age, everybody seemed much olderto me, than they probably were.

This scent has potential to work on many levels as it contains many notes which I love. But it is very synthetic on me and super aldehydic. It reminds me of blowing my nose into grandma's freshly laundered handkerchief and clothes coming back from the drycleaners. Tweed has the same effect for me. I am always partial to the old-school fragrances and even the classically 'granny' type of scents but even this is too old and fusty for me.

I dont mind the odd cheap pharmacy frag, but this is awful, smells cheaper than price tag, like soap and alcohol

Beautiful! I received the Taylor of London body spray today, to test before buying a big bottle. I've made a load of horrible blind buy blunders recently - hello Boucheron, Vanderbilt et al - I should have just gone for Panache! This is right up my 1960s/70s alley - aldehydic, light, sparkling, clean. It actually reminds me a lot, at first sniff, of my beloved long lost Lancome Climat .. 🥹 Definitely also concur with the Rive Gauche comparison. Estée, I see why but I'm conflicted on that, always thought I loved Estée but a close relative wears it sometimes and very weirdly, it smells like mouldy oranges on her! I know, strange. If you like the perfumes I've compared Panache to, it's probably a safe and incredibly economical blind buy for you. Ps. Also have a gander at Chique ... It's gorgeous too, cheap, strong (no watered down modern juice here) - going in an earthier direction but also clean, beautiful and smells much more expensive than the price tag! Edit: Within half an hour, Panache has dried down to a dreamy, almost herbal flowers in a grassy field on a summer day smell - with a touch of that industrial sump oil thing perfumery seems to have replaced oak moss with. Which is a shame, but I think the other notes and the strength of the perfume handle this - I'm still in love! 😄

My Grandmaother wore this fragrance and considered herself very extravagant to indulge in pefume so saved it for special occasions. She had lived though 2 world wars and died back in 1994 and still saved bits of soap to use! Smelling this fragance again was a must for me as,now in my 50s I have an overwhelming need for a sense of nostalgia. I was thrilled o find it on ebay at a cheap price and even more delighted when I sptitzed myself with it! There was my grandmother! But not as an old lady, as a glamourous woman with her hair done her matching bag and shoes and red lipstick. I love the old Rive Gauche and have been so disappointed by it's current formulation. To me Pananche has an air of the old RG but slightly sweeter. Sadly, it disappears after 2-3 hrs but at the price I paid, reapplying is a no brainer. I am considering layering it with Eau de Rochas and seeing what that brings.

I'm developing a bit of a soft spot for 1970's / retro perfumes and I am so impressed by this one. I have the parfum de toilette version and it suits me that it may be more fleeting than the original Lentheric Panache because I like to change my perfumes during the day. Panache is a vintage-style pick-me-up! It is a classic feminine floral with a powdery base. The top notes of realistic citrus notes combined with thyme are fresh and uplifting. Also present from the opening are the myrrh, sandalwood and oakmoss and the woody notes continue through the life of the fragrance. If you enjoy scents that sit between aldehyde and chypre, or if you're looking for something less sweet than many current offerings this makes a lovely day time, any occasion scent.

Wearing a cheapie can be a shame, or a delicious little secret. Once upon a time, I used to wear Estée. It was a long time ago, before any reformation, so I haven’t smelled it for years and years. Is Panache a true dupe? I don’t know. But I feel comfortable, confident and secure when I choose this scent. Of course it’s not avant-garde, it isn’t sweet at all, hum dated maybe ? Yes, sometimes I’m dated too ;-) Panache is sparkling green, retro, dry fresh, it’s an aldehic bitter crushed sun, it envelopes me, and makes me smile. Milton Lloyd/Taylor (same!) is not that good for the modern fruity style, but it’s a gem for all the vintage sweet memories. So let’s say this one it’s my dreamy little secret bubble?

Charity shop bargain!! Found a glorious trio of White Satin, Panache and Chique - all by Taylor of London but called Spritzers. Am guessing that is a more refreshing formulation, perfect for travel to hot climates. OMG. This is my heaven for holiday travel!! Panache reminds me of my dear late Mum - its an era where Tweed-like and Avon classic fumes ruled. Gave a neighbour the White Satin, exquisite as it was. And have Chique for easy slightly boozy sunset evening. Ahhh. Taylor of London is great. I think I will hunt for the lentheric versions too - so good!!

Thanks to ailishlu, I now own a little bottle of this beauty! She is so fresh and stimulating that I'm not surprised at the citrus. Fragrances containing citrus are frequently addictive to me in hot summer weather! The reviewer who compared this to Rive Gauche is spot on. They are not identical, but if this were to be packaged as a dupe of Rive Gauche it would be completely believable!! Either as a dupe or as Panache - this is a sharp and refreshing floral, well suited to hot climates and old fashioned tastes. I'm sold!

Oooh the rive gauche comparison... not miles away.. I feel like the milton lloyd version of panache is not as cold talc dry and thick/heavy as RG. Panache seems slightly lighter, sweeter but not at all sweet, maybe a smidge warmer is a better way of putting it. Same ball park though

While this smells old-fashioned and dated I honestly don't mind it. My teacher used to wear this and always smelled soapy and clean. To give you an idea it's similar to Estee by Estee Lauder.

Panache is a fantastic dupe for Amouage Gold woman. I did own a vintage eau de parfum and modern Extrait de parfum if Gold and I can confirm that Panache I very similar to both versions.
