Black Soul Imperial

Second review. It can't be overstated how incredibly underrated this fragrance is. I rank this higher than most designer fragrances and some niche. This is so unique and high quality. If you're a fan of dark, sweet/spicy and strong fragrances, GET THIS. IT'S ONLY $20. The progression of this fragrance is really interesting and non-linear. Crazy stuff for a $20 fragrance. First spray is this sharp and spicy chocolate cherry craziness that hangs around for 3 hours or so. It almost has a cherry coke smell to it but more gourmand. Coffee is present, but mostly in the drydown. I don't get a great deal of leather, though I'm sure it's subtly adding to the scent in general On my skin, this goes for 24 hours. 8 hours of very clear performance. STRONG but not too strong. Bottle is also one of my favorites. It truly shows how much effort Ted Lapidus put into this fragrance, I don't understand how they sell it for so cheap. The matte black skin is great to hold. Fantastic design and very good sprayer. Lid is better than most lids on the market. This is a fragrance that is easily associated with certain memories due to its uniqueness and strength. I spray this and I'm reminded of a specific day, walking the streets of Melbourne on a freezing cold foggy winter day. I enjoy this so much. If it ever got discontinued, I'd buy 5 bottles.

Man I was about to write a scathing review on here going at everyone who said this stuff was good, but after allowing myself some time for this stuff to transform, I had to drink some shut up juice. It opened up like a bubblegum type of obnoxious Paco Rabanne Million scent and I’ve worn that stuff so much long ago that I got sick of it. It then starts to become a little darker, then the mint hits you and come across almost like an Iris. Then the real mind fuck kicks in. What you’re left with is an aromatic amber/leathery type of scent that reminds me of stronger with you by Armani. Crisis averted, this stuff is a winner. Either my nose isn’t experienced enough or there’s been a reformulation but I never once got the hint of coffee. Still though, no regrets for my blind buy. Impressions- A true pyramid transformer. Not as beast mode as other TL. Scents. Weirdest perfume i ve smelled for sure.I dont understand what im smelling and i definetely dont pickup any of the notes listed...All i smell is clothing softener with a bit of rive gauche some powder and some spices.The smell is definetely unique and very mysterious.its among the best perfumes i ve tried.Its like a very warm aristocratic scent suitable mostly for a rich gentleman. This one is a hidden gem for sure,thank god,as not too many people are aware of this perfume.This one gained a spot on my top list. Projection and longetivity are among the best i have in my collection.It projects for 2 meters for an hour and longetivity is 8 hours solid on my skin. Overall its the first time a frag confuses me that much as i cant define what im smelling here maybe i need some time more with it but oh god its so mysterious and awsome ^^ Score: 9/10 Ps: I get some similarities with rochas man

this reminds me of james bond movies. classy very classy with dim lights. almost sweet mentol not like toothpaste but it almost gets plasticy and the leather with it every thing is at it limits here, the minty plasticy vibe is right where it almost not good so its butiful THIS IS INDEED A MASTER PIECE. a mature scent at first 5 minutes ,then comes that 1 million sweat pierce through its 1m in strength but not that smell. and it makes me very happy that its there becouse it lights the whole composition up it takes an old school to new school,its a strong note of plum or grapes very juicy and very high quality ,not sintethic for a second. Its now 9 hour and its a skin scent but is a strong skin scent , I get it as grapes,its grapes not plumes. and it is a butiful parfum it is a one million in tox as the reviews befor me said but....GIVE IT ITS 5 MINUTE! VERY WELL RECOMENDED ENJOY

Beautifully packaged! Love the matt black bottle with glorious gold accents and the tin too. This is so much better than the basic Black Soul mainly because of its superior performance. I usually get 6 or more hours with decent sillage. I think it's mainly a versatile cold weather fragrance, and I've been using it throughout December as its vibe suits the festive run-up, and Christmas itself, perfectly. I get a darkish-sweet-spicy-oriental fragrance with prominent amber, and a smell reminiscent of burnt currants that I assume is the coffee. It does have a slightly cheap aura to it with blob-like accords rather than individually defined notes, much like for example One Man Show Gold Edition. Nevertheless, it's still very good and a no-brainer to get at its bargain price of around £20 in the UK for the 100ml bottle. Recommended!

Strong and spicy! I took this out of the box, and without even spraying it, I thought "wow ok!". I could smell it already. I get the spicy cola vibe that others have mentioned. This is not a classic coffee scent like Rochas Man, so don't go buying this thinking that you'll smell like an espresso, you'll be disappointed. This shares that very unique darkness that is found in Tom Fords Black Orchid. Completely different fragrances, but they both feature that strange gothic fantasy grit. Hard to explain unless you've tried either. One of my all time favourite bottle designs, everything is very high quality. Love the matt finish. Amazing, weighted lid. Sits tight. Altogether a fantastic fragrance if you're going for something strong and unique. For $30, you can't go wrong. I'll be wearing this all winter.

This may be dismissed as not being a "serious" fragrance because it is from TL and is inexpensive, but for the money, Imperial is impressive. This is what I hoped Rochas Man would have been- a darker, more masculine take on semi-gourmand coffee-based scent. Where Rochas goes in a soft, unisex direction, this one keeps the man-faith. No lavender, no vanilla, no flowers. Just a leathery, coffee, amber scent with a genius twist of hidden freshness from mint and citrus. I don't know guys, take this with a grain of subjectivity from someone who hates to overpay for fragrances, but this is much better than many popular winter scents on the market. Very pleasant, medium sillage, long lasting. Great for work or evening.

I picked-up a bottle of Black Soul Imperial (BSI) back in the Spring and it is certainly a much better fit for the Fall, for sure. In a nutshell, to me it's like a spiced Cherry Coke scent...not easy to explain, but BSI is definitely a unique scent that I really like. But it's also not for everyone as I find it difficult to love but easy to like. The listed notes are pretty much what I pick-up in this fragrance. Yes, I understand the 1 Million references..but it's certainly a darker, spicier and more mature version of it. For an inexpensive fragrances the presentation is excellent (love the bottle and tin) and performance is pretty good too; lasts 10+ hours and projects moderately on my skin.

Brilliant fragrance when used in moderation however its cloying annoying and can be offensive if overdone.I say do 8 sprays in the winter if you are going to be outside for the whole day and 5 sprays below if you are going to be indoors.This smells like a middle ground between Givenchy Gentlemen EDP and Blgvari Man In Black with added fresh citruses and mint. Great stuff really but must be used in the right circumstance with moderation but for the price it's a steal 10/10.The scent is awesome imagine a spicy freshly poured coke which has had chocolate soaked in it seems crazy but it works.A great enigmatic fragrance for men who enjoy the more avant-garde style of perfumery.

Black Soul Imperial hits the ground running. I just sprayed this (once) on a card and within 1.5 seconds my lady could smell it from across the room. "MMMMMMM", she said. I purchased this blind after reading many reviews and having familiarity with what I like and what I don't...the first list being much longer than the latter. I don't get much citrus or baked coffee, but the spices, faint mint and a balmy quality (tolu, they say) are present to my nose from the start. If you are familiar with other Lapidus releases, you know this to certainly be a part of the family. If you can't tell, I'm a fan. You should try it if nothing else.

Surely a gem that is most deserving for being a likable dark roast that projects well over its course. Black Soul Imperial is one dark throne that is seductive, sultry, sexy and kingly. The opening introduces a bergamot led charge towards a minty darkness that sacrifices into a middling citrus cocoa ghost, most likely a figment, before pulling up the rears in a leather delectable, balanced with strong hints of wood and amber resins. All of this mystery gives way to a chocolaty spiced coffee full of designer kink and royal intrigue. Bargain or not, Black Soul Imperial reigns supreme and a worthy addition to any masculine wardrobe.

This is definition of a hidden gem. Long lasting fragrance for cold weather with really good sillage. Its hard to describe it but with this price, just go and buy it. Some testers are more expensive than 100 ml of this radiant juice. Spicy and sweet but masculine and pleasant, nightime scent. This is no offensive at all, its fragrance for men with character. Can be office scent too, but more appropriate for night and evening. Really don't get the hate from some comments here... Its not a clone of anything. So underestimated and with almost no video reviews online. I cant recommend it enough.

This IS truly a gem . What makes this unique ? Is the mint , peppermint , cinnamon , cedar , amber combo. Coffe is present , indeed , and it gives a touch . But , the most important is mint against the spices , resins and woods. It is not a generic scent . This is the best Lapidus fragrance I ever had . The others are extremely sweet , except Black Soul.This is not . Thanks to the spices . It has not honey or other extreme sweet notes Lapidus fragrances commonly has. Since it is a flanker of Black Soul , it shares notes with it’s brother . Hope they expand this approach with new flankers .

A lovely masculine blend. Spicy, woody and fresh. The coffee is noticeable at the opening. It's unique in my collection too. Longevity and silage are both good. Black Soul Imperial has lots of character and is a special value EDT. As someone said below....it really is a hidden gem. The dry down is just gorgeous - a sort of woody/fruity blend. It comes in nice packaging too. Got this blind...very glad I did, it's one of the nicest Teds

I have Black Soul and like it a lot, so I had to get Imperial based on the interesting notes, the reviews and my own intrigue. I’m not disappointed at all. What you get with Imperial is a manly, dark, sexy scent that lasts. You get a little coffee, a little leather and on my skin a kind of chocolaty vibe. I love it... it’s unique and a hidden gem if you ask me. Definitely a great addition to any mans winter/fall collection.

18€ for this juice.?!! What a steal...!! Lovely scent with good longevity & sillage.. So glad for this blind buy!! EDIT : it's a weird fragrance in a very good way, but after testing it for some days now, I came to the conclusion that is just an OK scent.. Nothing groundbreaking, nothing that will blow your mind! Do I need this in my collection? The answer is NO! Sold it!

Black soul imperial is a pretty dark scent with a minty touch that is noticeable from the start,afterwards it is a mix of woods and spices,with indeed a much strong coffee feel in it,in the end the whole experience results in a sort of oriental bubble gum dripped in a cup of moka.Strong fragrance,as usual with Lapidus house standards.

Lovely Autumn and Winter juice. Unique and complex. I'm sure I can smell Rose in here in the background but not listed. This has grown a lot on me since I bought this, it's just so different. Good performance too. An overlooked and under rated masculine perfume. *Update* A unique silage wafts away from this one.

I gifted my bottle to a fellow frag head. By far, it is the most realistic interpretation of coffee that I've encountered. Conceptually, I don't think many fragrances can come close to Black Soul Imperial; it is a unique rendition deserving more praise for its uniqueness.

To add........Gone back to this after a while. It's still lovely but I'm picking up a some Varvatov Vintage notes now. This Ted is a beautiful sweet, spicy herbal juice which has been beautifully blended. It's longevity and silage are both excellent. A real grower.

This is great! To me, this is a cross between oud for greatness and taos 1920 the origin with an aventus style citrus. Really really nice and a steal for the price! Not offensive by any means! Good for the office and the afterparty!

Maybe there is something like 1Million, but more smoky, woody and less sweet than 1Million. Let's say, Black Soul Imperial is a 1 Million in tuxedo. Very nice scent for clubbing with very good projection and longevity. Tumbs up.

just try this today after bought the fb 2 weeks ago, smells like Rochas Man, well blended of coffee and cinnamon . projection still good after 2 hours. I'm thinking to take this underrated gem as my signature scent

The fragrance opens like a visit to an Italian cafe, later feel mint and saffron in leather. Masterpiece! 5 stars! I love every time.

When you get this the packaging is actually pretty nice. At first I thought the presentation looked a little bit cheap on screen but it's not, it's quite unique. The smell of this is just like Bogart One Man Show Gold Edition, I mean to me it's almost exactly like it, like they took Gold Edition and rebranded it almost. I get the coffee but that's really the only thing setting this apart from Gold Edition in my opinion. I really like Gold Edition so I do like this one as well but I wasn't expecting them to smell similar but that's what happens when you blind buy sometimes. I would say this isn't a fragrance for younger guys or for pleasing many women. It's more of a guy's scent that you wear for yourself because it is more rough and rugged. It's just a manly musky scent for a rugged guy and hey I like these scents. I have many of these and I generally wear them for me because I like them and not necessarily to please or be noticed by others. I would say this is a little bit more of a refined version of Jacques Bogart OMS Gold but mostly similar. I think if you wear this some people might think you came from the bar lol. It also smells like it could have Oud in it but I'm not sure if it's listed. It has a little bit of that middle eastern smell to it and it also has a slight sweetness buried in there as well. It's worth trying out if you like these kinds of scents. I give this an 80/100.

I think i got a spoiled bottle...the batch code on mine says its from 2011. This thing smells awful. It has the 1 Million vibe and that is my most hated fragrance pretty much ever. Sickly sweet scent, this is what i'd imagine a "burnt rubber tire flavored bubblegum" would smell like. After 1 hour i was getting this weird feeling in the back of my throat, i just had to scrub this thing off. Usually i'm pretty open with frags, trying to understand them even if i dont like them, and let them develop. This one just went straight to the bin. I'll see if i can find a newer bottle, but if i have to judge from this, absolute 0. UPDATE: Ok so i contacted the guy who sold me this and asked for a newer batch bottle. Wow, what a difference. That rotten sweet smell is gone from this one, and it developed much more smoothly. Way better than 1 Million too, lol. Although it still has that sweet side, its not too heavy and the mint actually pops up a little more. This just went from a 0 to a 7 in my book. Warning though: Don't overspray, as if you do, it will get a little annoying. 2 - 3 sprays MAX. Dark and unusual, it's not necessarily sophisticated but it's far from smelling cheap, at least to me. The drydown has a "dirty sexy" feel that i'm enjoying, quite pleasant. Cool weather only, night time. Please don't wear this in high heat. I'd imagine you can legit choke someone.

I really like this one, it’s different and reasonably priced for what you get. Cooler weather oriented day or night, I get very subtle mint, and coffee in the opening with a sweetness coming from the citrus. I really don’t get a strong coffee note like in Halloween Man X, honestly the coffee for me is VERY subtle. I get spices and amber notes with a running sweetness through the life of the fragrance. It is fairly linear in terms of how it starts to end, with the opening being the most diverse aspect. I do get a touch of leather in here, which mans up the amber and sweeter aspects, making this less unisex and more masculine IMO. It has a synthetic aspect to it, making it smell a bit like the bargain that it is. I have had my tin for quite some time, gone though about 1/3 of the bottle now. It is rather unique in my collection, and would be a bargain recommendation for those not overly into fragrance but wanting something different from what others might be wearing.

My first time wearing this and while I don't usually review on my first impressions, I think I understand this one enough and really like it. It is my first Lapidus cologne. I did a paper test weeks ago and it seemed a little too sweet. On skin, black soul Imperial is better balanced with spices, wood and leather. The ambery coffee and fruity notes are still the most prominent but they're gentled quite nicely to create a sweet yet mature scent. Mint keeps it from getting too syrupy. It projects strongly filling up a room and is detectable on my skin 5 hours later before finally fading out. Upon first spray, it reminded me a bit of Qaeed by Lattafa, but stronger and less spicy. In comparison to other western frags, I would say this is what I would expected the Polo Red line to put out. A really great fragrance for grownups to dress up or down. I am definitely curious about TL and Bogart fragrances now!

I wore it for the first time today, and have mixed reactions. I sprayed 4 times, and for the first hour or so, I was not very happy. It smelled annoyingly sweet and spicy, and I had written the fragrance off in my mind already. Throughout the day though, I would catch a brief whiff of it, and it became surprisingly pleasant. I was impressed with the longevity. I could smell it clearly after 5 hours, and it was only 4 sprays I used. After some time, as the sweetness faded and the woodiness came out with the base notes, it transformed into a different, actually pleasant fragrance. I will definitely wear again, but I will save it for a cold day rather than a cool day, where the opening notes will hopefully be less piercing.

Just added to my collection! A blind buy due to price....and not bad at all. In my oppinion shares a lot with Calvin Klein Shock and Zara Tabacco, but a little freshier and more spices. The performance is great....sprayed just once on my wrist and after 4 hours someone around me noticed the smell, i think for the price it's not bad at all. So, if you like darker/tabacco/sweet-spiced fragrances, you will definetly like this one 100%! Overall 8/10.

this is a wannabe of a well blended Givenchy Play Intense, thats why i voted remind me of rochas man dont get me wrong, it isnt bad at all it is just that stand too close to a very good one and then its obvious to make the comparison. i like more the original black soul because its more honest dont find it pretending to be anything else that it is a good sweet bublly gummy strawberry club scent

At first sniff...I don't know why...yet..but it reminds me of YSL L'Homme Parfum Intense.....and...CK Obsessed Intense. Then...on me..it gets sweeter somehow. And, yeah, I get even a touch of CK Shock type vibes...as well as....JB One Man Show-ish vibes. All in all, pretty decent scent. Great price/value, for what your getting.

An interesting take on a coffee scent for the price of 18 euros. Is it something i reach for often? No. Is it high quality smelling? No. Is it kind of addicting? I guess you could say that. Frankly a bit weird, but i like it as that weird smelling, addictive cheapie that's minding its own business on the shelf.

Bought it due to the reviews around here coffee - maybe Dark - nope Green yes It has the Lapidus vibe - it has the black soul dna mixed with dolce gabbana intenso Only like I have also altamir - which is a boozy black soul and i consider it the best from these 3

Ooh. I like this. Very very indulgent. I didn't realise it was a coffee note till I checked. The initial application is very very sweet but the dry down gets oh so dark and intense, and leathery. Bottle is a stunner too

unique, certainly, and pleasant. quite safe but classy, i like it a lot, but it almost has a little bit of a powdery part to it which keeps me from fully loving it.

This is a very good night time and cold/cool weather scent. It's a must try for anyone interested in fragrances.

This is very similar to Xerjoff Golden Green.

This smells very different, theres an initial blast of sweet must a citrus (orange?) and amber, after about 15-20 mins thats gonna to a pinch of chocolate and coffee spiced mint with some cedar after about an hr or so it dries into a chocolate leather (suede) cedar. I cant say about the newer formulations as mine is from 2011. The longevity is so-so, the sillage is terrible skin scent after about 20-30 mins. This is something for yourself to appreciate bc no one else is gonna smell it on you after 30 mins unless they have their face buried on you. Blind buy? Probably not due to the sillage and longevity issues But the scent is nice and comforting is the sillage was ALOT better it would be a hit.

Nice scent here. Just a bit lighter than Black Soul, but they smell very similar. I prefer Black soul over Imperial, but it's close. The spices come through here just as much, but the musk and leather come through more in the original. Amber is present in both. Scent:6.5 Longevity:6 Sillage:6 Unique:7 Quality:8 If you're ready for the heavier masculine version of Black Soul Imperial, buy the original Black Soul. Imperial is very versatile, it may smell darker to some, but it's lighter than Black soul. Enjoy, good juice here........

This perfume smells like a faux-leather seat on an old train on which a smart mustachioed man dressed in tweed has been sitting for hours... a little sweaty and hot. Yet it is strangely endearing.

When I read the notes on Fragrantica, I was so looking forward to trying this out, it sounded Delicious and I could picture this contrast of fresh, sweet, spicy, light. I went in 2 days ago got a sample and rushed home. I sprayed it on. And.......... Holy Crap. What is this awful Burnt, Rubbery concoction I've just put on. It stuck to me, and pounded me with its Acrid Stench. I tried to stick it out. 3 hours later it settled, to a coffee, amber mix, but the Dirty rubber still overshadowed the sweet notes. So I gave up and threw the tester away and went to have a Scrub. Totally not made for me. 2 out of 10.

Pretty bottle and good price. I bought it based on reviews and expected it would be fresher, I did not identified the mint. Sillage and longevity are moderate, not excellent. The smell is dry and rubbery (at least in my pale dry skin).
