Oha

Oha (Parfum Extract) from Teo Cabanel is a thick and beautiful rose fragrance with, among other things, wood, tea, cardamom and iris in the background. It definetly is the roses that has the biggest part in this fragrance. The lovely thick roses that feels like they would be a jam. The other notes are mostly in the background. The tea note is quite prominent in the beginning and is a very nice partner to the roses before it goes more towards the background joining the other notes. Then when it has been on the skin for a while it gets warmer and softer when the roses starts to share their place in the spotlight with tonka beans, musk and wood. Oha is a very beautiful fragrance!

This is a scent that needs time to get comfortable, at least on my skin. At first, it's stuffy and formal, with loud rose that comes out of the gate way too strong. But oh, give it 30 minutes and the gorgeous citrus and tea notes comes through, and everything melds together in this lovely way. Vanilla appears a few hours in, softening everything into a lovely silky rose skin scent that lasts for hours on me. I adore this, just not the first half hour!

There's something in Oha that evokes fancy hotels to me. There are definitely occasions as a kid lounging around in random hotel lobbies, especially ones in China while visiting family, where my smell memory matches up with Oha pretty well—this sort of classic and elegant scent designed to evoke the idea of premium hospitality. Crisp green-smelling rose bouquets in the opening (backed by the tea, bergamot and a particularly green jasmine) with the smell of what reminds me of old Chinese lacquered furniture in the most pleasant way (which I guess is the combination of the spicy resinous cardamom and the woods). The spice is quite prominent although I get a weird olfactory illusion at the beginning where the green aspects and spicy aspects mingle with each other since they're tied together by a fresh and cool feeling. There's also something here that very cryptically smells exactly like elderflower cordial so take that as you will. My description makes it sound a lot more aggressive than it actually is and I think a lot of that elegant hotel feeling does also come from the fact that the whole thing is softened with sweet tonka bean and a clean powdery musk (I'd say sophisticated rather than old-fashioned). A really beautiful evening scent in my opinion.

I got the samples set by Teo Cabanel and to me, Oha is the stronger, older sister of Early Roses. It has a lot more character than Early Roses and is quite a dominant scent. No shame in that! The Rose Trio in Oha isn't dewy and fresh, instead coming in with a bang and not going anywhere. Musky, yes, elegant too, perfect for evenings. Projection is where I like it (arm length when in movement, otherwise personal) and sillage is 8 hours on me. A warm, well-established scent (no sourness on me) perfect for hospitable and comforting personalities. "Fresh, green and cold" to me applies to the start of Early Roses, but not to Oha. I wouldn't exactly call this "dirty", but it's not exactly clean as in fresh / mild / watery. Oha is a strong, memorable scent. I couldn't wear this in a discreet setting, it has way too much personality for that. An intelligent, individual scent that supports and strengthens. A bit too much for me at my age (27) and not exactly subtle to my nose.

I like Oha most than other Teo Cabanel's scents. It's very feminine almost in an old-fashion way, still not a granny perfume. It has a very French touch, quality is out of doubt. It smells like a classy, elegant and feminine woman from a French poster would smell. Jasmine and green tea are very evident in the beginning, then the whole scent is a mix of roses and jasmine with a hint of violet (not listed), then tonka bean and cedar. I can't smell the cardamom and the vanilla is very subtle, not a vanillic scent. I don't own a full bottle and won't probably buy because Oha is not totally me in every moment. It would suit a more elegant woman than I am. It would make a good statement with an evening dress, but it's wearable during the day without exceeding. I think its character is more related to the personality of the wearer rather than the occasion, because it seems "alive". Not a mainstreet fragrance in any case.

You really have to appreciate how bulgarian rose smells to enjoy "Oha", because all trough the development of the scent the bulgarian rose is shining trough, all sour and loud as always. That said, I will also admit that I am not overly friendly with sour/green rose, but "Oha" is a rather safe representation of the scent mentioned above, therefore making itself a very safe blind buy. "Oha" is a fresh, green and cold rose paired with shy tea and shyer jasmine making this pretty much linear rose scent most suitable for hot weather. I did not get any tonka, nor vanilla, so there is nothing warm for me here. Also I will add that "Oha" stays very close to skin after the opening, so would be a safe choice as an office fragrance.

Oha's sillage was very strong. I applied it only to my wrists as I went to bed, and I soon regretted it as the perfume was so intense throughout the entire night. The beautiful blend of rose and cardamom reminds me so much of my beloved Black Jade. Oha is more mature though as the bergamot in the top is not so prominant and the rose is dustier, more Victorian or like dried red rose petals. The cardamom really stands out as well as a note of jasmine. To me this perfume is grown-up, definitely not weak or without character. Out of Barkhane, Alahine, and now this, I can't decide which is my favorite. They are all marvelous!

An elegant rose fragrance from the get-go. There is something very chic in it, like the perfume of an immaculately dressed lady visiting a big and respectable hotel somewhere in Paris. I get a 'hotel' vibe, maybe it's something very personal but I get transported to the reception of a big hotel (the type from 'The Shining'!). Rose, jasmine, cardamom, a bit of fresh bergamot. Strangely, I don't get the tea note here. The drydown is a mix of powdery notes and patchouli. This fragrance evolves very quickly, and fades away almost completely within 4 hours.

I'm a big fan of rose and spices. I was curious about this one. I do get lots of spicy rose. The more I wear my sample the more I like it. I thought at first that the rose jarred a bit next to the cardamom and tea. I wish the rose lasted much longer. It fades back and then it's pretty much a lightly spiced wood scent with a touch of rose. Very unisex although the opening is a bit feminine. Cabanel scents just don't have very good sillage or longevity. A great shame as they are mostly very lovely. I won't buy a bottle.

Very elegant! A deep, intense rose scent with the top of tea and jasmine. Linear and clean. Very ladylike. It’s a perfect perfume for official occasions when you have to be discreet and bon-ton. But I have a feeling like in this total perfection lacks a little bit of personality. Maybe I'm wrong! Or maybe sometimes you don’ t want to show everyone who you are - so you can hide yourself behind this beautiful fragrance.

I really like this scent. I find it "unique" in many ways....yet...I get vibes of other scents....strangely...I get a "vibe" of Hermes Ambre de merveilles/Eau de Merveilles.....???...and tho not listed...I get some kind of mimosa-ish note...?? There is a certain "greeness" to this as well. Performance is decent. The dry down goes a woodsy/amber/powdery on my skin. I am dying to try Barkane and Cafe soon.

A very elegant and classic perfume for all the seasons. Timeless, this scent can be a signature scent. It is a floral Chypre with strong note of rose and a touch of spices and green tea to my nose. The longevity is very good, the sillage moderate. Feeling: chic, soapy and clean. Compatible with office. For all ages, more for woman to my opinion. So French! 7/10

I was surprised that the database qualified this fragrance as a floral chypre. On my skin, the green edge was the prominent one, along with what seemed to be a citrus-herb combo. It reminded me of Guerlain Sous le Vent, and a bit of an excellent men's cologne. Nice, vibrant, with excellent longevity.

A rose scent from a bygone era; a classic take on French perfume circa 1940s. The opening is a nose punch of spiced tea and powder. Feels like vintage makeup. Dry down is softer and easier to wear. My partner complimented at the 2.5 hour mark.

Herbal opening, that smells like Elizabeth Ardens green tea, quickly becomes more floral Much stronger than the other teo cabanel perfumes, sileage is way higher Gets more floral and pleasant Nice simple rose like frag, with a tint of musk.

Beautiful rose-cardamom-tea gem! On me, along with these three most proeminent notes, I can also detect some beautiful jasmine, bergamot and patchouli tones. Long lasting longevity and strong sillage! Loved it!

It does smell like Aromatix Elixir!!! Chypre rose, like a rainy forrest where you can grow enchanting roses. A bit of a vintage feel to it due to the classic chypre sourness

I think Oha is a very good rose scent, but it's not for me. In the opening it is almost agressive: the rose is so strong and spicy here that it smells quite leathery to me, or in any case animalic. And the tea note doesn't bring any relief - instead, it only adds a different layer of green bitterness, underscoring the almost harsh botanical quality of the rose (I think that's the effect of the cardamom as well). There's no sweetness at all at this point, and although I admire the composition, my personal taste usually tends towards friendlier scents. This stage only lasts an hour or so, though, and the drydown is a lot less prickly variety of rose: classical, a little powdery, elegant, much sweeter. In this more wearable incarnation it lasts all day, although it sticks much more closely to the skin after the opening. At this point I can easily imagine wearing it in all seasons except the hottest, especially in the evening, and start contemplating getting a decant. But then there are so many rose scents out there, including in my own (decant) wardrobe, that I like just as much, and where the opening is more up my alley as well, so I think I'll leave it at sampling this time.
