Dancing With Strangers 4160 Tuesdays

The prettiest powder puff of a violet! Described as a "classic lipstick and powder, rose and violet fragrance, with twists of white flowers, entwined with honeysuckle and surrounded by soft musks," but it really is all about violet. The "lipstick" note smells specifically, to my nose, of L'Oreal lipstick, which I adore. Dancing With Strangers reminds me of Guerlain's Insolence EDP but softer, powderier, lovelier, and without the berry notes. And while not listed, I sense a brief yet enchanting sparkle of aldehydes in the opening, similar to the opening of Chanel's Misia. Created "in the style of a 1960s American voluptuous feminine perfume, the inspiration behind Dancing with Strangers was Truman Capote’s infamous Black & White Ball of 1966." It is easy to imagine one of Capote's Swans - or even Proust's 19th century heroine Odette Swann - at her dressing table, surrounded by her powders and potions... A lovely and timeless boudoir perfume. I do wish performance was a bit stronger, I must overspray in order to achieve desired sillage. But it is well worth it for this beautiful fragrance. Also, I enjoy wearing it with the inexpensive yet lovely Accordo Viola L'Erbolario body cream, which I use as a hand lotion. Dancing With Strangers is the perfect violet I have been seeking!

I LOVE THIS ONE! It's my perfect feel-good powdery fragrance. I'm very selective when it comes to powdery fragrances. Sometimes they resemble actual powder too much, to the point that they make you cough and it distracts me from the actual smell of the fragrance. Guerlain's L'Heure Bleue and SP Parfums Powder & Dust are examples of powdery fragrances I can't tolerate. This collab with Tessa Williams and 4160 Tuesdays though, is magic. Dancing With Strangers is a lightly sweetened, uplifting, enchanting, feminine, lipstick powder with a seamless blend. The powder doesn't overwhelm the fragrance, so it has the most intriguing fairy-like scent trail that doesn't really get boring to me. I just feel like smelling this for hours and I don't feel restricted to wearing it for certain occasions only. I can were this day, night, hanging out with friends, getting comfy in the house, winter, summer, etc.

WOW. I have been searching for years for the perfect lipstick/violet fragrance. Lipstick On, Lipstick Rose, Lipstick Fever, etc. did not work for me. They're always either too rosy, too sharp, too fruity, too powdery, too sugary, too juvenile or too mature... but this is none of that. I found the perfect one!! This is perfectly balanced-- a realistic lipstick note that's not too waxy, a violet that's not too baby powdery, very soft rose (and I normally dislike rose). So smooth and well-rounded, feminine but not girly, very slightly sweetened. I don't particularly pick up on honeysuckle or white flowers but I think that's probably what's keeping this from being too one-dimensional. I can't get over how good this is. As soon as I sprayed my sample I ordered a full 100ml bottle. Instantly a favorite.

DOLL’S HEAD fragrance I see people searching for a “doll’s head” fragrance in the forum - this is it! It’s far too cutsie to smell like a woman’s makeup bag, this is a little girl’s toy smell. There’s nothing grownup or womanly about this. Specifically, it smells exactly like an 80s girl toy called “Keypurs” - the Swan. Think little girl’s pink baby doll type aroma. Baby powdery, rosey, sweet, cute. Like Teint de Neige but rosier. If you want a fragrance that smells like lipstick, you’d be better off with Incarnatia or Moulin Rouge 1881. They are more accurate. Dancing with Strangers is still gorgeous though. It can be bought from the Tessa Williams website.

I love this fragrance, my favorite so far from this house. For some reason this perfume smells like tea to me, I also get the lipstick smell but its not powdery on my skin it smells waxy and like a creamy lipstick. It's really hard to describe this scent, I have never smelled anything like it. I just bought a full bottle and am happy to have it.
