Amber Vanilla

I love the ethos of the 7 Virtues brand, but this is the first of the line I've purchased a full bottle of and I am so happy I did, because I've been wearing the heck out of it. Don't you love it when a fragrance is a grower, and you just want to wear it more and more and explore more facets of it? I love a "clean-girl" skinscent as much as the next person, but despite comparisons above to Glossier You, to me it's not that. Amber Vanilla does feel somewhat molecular in how it wears (like a haze around you) but the recycled sandalwood and caramel notes bring a sweet warmth. The floral notes are quite low in the mix in comparison (on me), but I like that they're there, giving structure to the mid. The ambroxan and amber-woods-like base is sensitively done, so it all feels so wonderfully gauzy and amber-toned. How this comes off to me is like a comfort blanket or duvet-day, which I feel is the brand's intention since it's meant to evoke self-love. I really enjoy this more and more with every wear. People say she doesn’t know what she wants, I don’t believe that’s true. She’s the gorgeous yet quiet girl in the room who does everything at ease. Makes everything stressful seem simple and does it with confidence. The pepper isn’t too strong, it just adds a bit of a salty quality along with the ambroxan. The vanilla and amber are almost as one linear note with the carnation adding softness but not turning it too sweet. I almost returned this scent when I received it, but I gave it a few more chances and smelled it out of the bottle during the day. In a second it clicked, that this is a comforting pep talk that says “yes girl, your makeup and hair look great. Remember to be kind to yourself” Checks boxes I didn’t know existed. I hope this works for you too!

One of my all-time favorites. I used two travel sizes of this scent before committing to a full bottle. It reminds me of my grandmother, but not in a "dusty" or negative context. It smells familiar, like a loved one. It's effortless and a little spicy, cozy without being too sweet, and slightly floral without feeling too feminine. I saw someone describe it as being similar to the pages of an old book, and I think that's an excellent way to put it. Sure, you could get something similar with Glossier You, but this perfume has a lot more oomph, imo. Anytime I'm not sure what to wear or don't want to get overwhelmed with a scent as I wear it through the day, I tend to find myself reaching for this one. Soooo good!

I’ve never really smelled a fragrance quite like this. It is such a versatile aroma. The pink pepper opening note is definitely large and in charge at first spray, but once you give this scent a chance to dry down, it turns into the most gorgeous, sweet, clean scent. The carnation stands out to me, as does the Iso E Super. It compliments my skin so well and wears for at least 6 hours. It’s great for spring/summer as the floral notes and the vanilla aren’t overly sweet but sweet enough. Some people claim this is a gourmand scent and I have to disagree. While you do get some vanilla, what really pushes forward is the floral amber notes. If you have a chance to buy the travel size, please do.

I will preface this by saying I'm fairly new to scents. I have the The 7 Virtues discovery set this and coconut sun were my favourites but I still think that they are too earthy overall for my preference to purchase a full bottle. Edit: I have found myself wearing this fragrance more and more. Amber Vanilla is just so easy, casual, cozy but pretty all at once. It seems to work with my lifestyle really well, even better than some of the other scents I own. I am a jeans and t-shirt type of woman that lives an outdoorsy lifestyle for reference. I have purchased a full sized bottle. I also really like what The 7 Virtues stands for so I am happy to purchase from them.

I was hesitant to try this one for a long time because I'm not a big fan of ambery vanillas. Thankfully, it turned out it smells nothing like the name. It's sort of a musky, slightly sweet, minty scent. Not sure if it's just my nose, but the mint I get is quite prominent, it gives me that cooling sensation at the back of my throat. Overall, I like it a lot and it's an easy reach for me all year round. I don't get the Glossier You comparison at all but I'm also noseblind to Iso E Super. Both You and Sonic Flower smelled like expired makeup to me and I don't get any powderiness at all from Amber Vanilla. Funny how different our scent perceptions can be.

I am obsessed with this! If you know Secret Genius by Primrose, then you'll know this smells almost identical! Amber Vanilla smells very clean, while also being very warm and inviting. The ambroxan and musk are quite prominent throughout. I’d describe the musk to be very similar to that of Glossier You. However, the perfume remains very warm and intoxicating throughout. The beautiful vanilla and amber peek through almost immediately, causing this gorgeous, clean, and warm fragrance. I personally find this fragrance to be addicting. I can’t stop smelling myself. I don’t think I’ve been more satisfied with a recent purchase, than I am by Amber Vanilla.

This is what I wanted Phlur Vanilla Skin to be. A soft, round, creamy, vanilla sweet but not syrupy heavy, musky skin scent. Feels like Phlur Missing Person + vanilla. Slightly more round a creamy than Glossier You. I find the notes to be puzzling - I don't get any zingy pink pepper, or bitter carnation at all. This feels like liquid cashmere and vanilla whipped cream. Not too sweet, or syrupy. Not dense or heavy. But also noot cold light airy fluffy like AG Cloud. It feels hazy, foggy, creamy, round vanilla and warm skin. Lasting power is great, extreme longevity on clothes. Sillage is intimate to moderate.

This is such an easy reach light vanilla musk for every day. I always reach for this when I don't know what perfume to wear. I find it perfect for work because it's discrete while remaining pleasant. To my nose I get a very airy vanilla blended with a clean musk that does not turn soapy. The projection is intimate but I've gotten compliments so it's definetly still noticeable and I can get whiffs of myself all throughout the day. Plus, it layers beautifully with my fresh florals by giving them a nice warm vanillic touch. I love it, it's so versatile and it has become a staple in my collection

this is so beautiful! a delicate, soft, gentle cozy vanilla indeed. on initial spray, this reminds me of Ariana Grande's Mod Vanilla but on the dry down, this reminds me a whole lot of MFK's Gentle Fluidity Gold (which is my dream fragrance!) but more resinous. This is a laid back, skin scent vanilla, really smells like a hug from your favourite person. I feel like this could easily be a signature skin-scent perfume that can be used all-year round. Wear this if you want to smell "effortlessly nice" or if you want to be someone's comfort person.

I am a bit surprised by the comparisons to JHAG Not a Perfume as on my skin these two scents are not similar at all. The JHAG to me is an almost citrusy/clean linen/just came out of the shower/soapy type of scent while Amber Vanilla is a warm/ soft/slightly sweet/comforting vanilla + some resinous amber. This to me smells identical to Aerin Amber Musk, a delicate fragrance that I love dearly but has virtually no staying power or projection. I will probably buy a full bottle of this once my Aerin travel spray runs out.

This frag feels like cuddling up on your Granny's linen couch in her coastal cottage with wood floors as the light is streaming through the breezy curtains. There is a vanilla candle burning and you're wearing the softest, airiest cashmere cardigan. I love the woodiness and soft, quiet muskiness of this scent. It's vanilla without being too sweet or gourmand - which I didn't realize was possible, until now. So pleasantly surprised and will be savoring my sample on days where I need a little extra coziness.

Love this, it has become one of my daily wears. Others have said that they disagree with the marketing, but "Ambery vanilla" is exactly how I would describe that smell. I feel it as a sweet, maternal skin scent. Softly, warmly feminine. I wear it when I need comfort, and want to feel like a warm hug and to pull others closer. Fantastic as a layering scent for other perhaps more complex fragrances, to add depth. It lasts 6+ hours on my skin with a lovely drydown, and even more if I spray it on clothes.

"It Girl, Clean Girl, That Girl, Pretty Girl." This perfume gives me all these vibes. It's sweet, sheer, fresh, uplifting, modern. It's not cloying, it's refreshing and dries down to a comforting sweet sheer vanilla. I have the travel size and am already almost out, so I purchased the full-sized bottle today. Can't wait to go through Spring with this scent. I also love that 7 Virtues is Canadian and a clean, non-toxic, ethical brand!! :) :) Woot Woot!

I reach for this almost every day lately. It’s a cozy musk with an almost pheromone-like quality for me - it smells like the skin of someone you’re attracted to. Sits very close to the body so it’s perfect for the office (if you’re looking for something with lots of projection this is definitely not that). I actually don’t get a ton of vanilla. To me it’s an iso e super scent more than anything else, with carnation and pink pepper on top.

This was a deeply pleasant surprise! Rose is a very strong hit or miss for me, and usually Amber disrupts the scent too much, but the vanilla brings all of the notes together in a super unexpected way! Especially because most vanilla fragrances are so basic and overdone, this scent seriously knocks it out of the park. This is the classiest gourmand I've ever tried and if the dry down is good too then I might have just fallen in love!

This is a beautifully quiet musky vanilla which invites a lot of little hand sniffs, such is my appreciation. This is a cosy night in, favourite sweatshirt, candles lit, comfort tv show perfume. It will not announce your entrance to a room. It’s a low-level seductive ‘smell me more because I smell delicious’ scent. It doesn’t last long but I don’t mind. Might consider a full bottle. Edit: Surprise...bought the full bottle!

I love it. Didn’t like it at first but now I cannot stop smelling my wrists. I own Glossier You and have tested the others that another reviewer mentioned are similar to Vanilla Amber. I barely get the similarities between any of them, not even close enough to keep from owning both fragrances. Also, I don’t like JHAG Not A Perfume. It’s one of my favorite blind buys and I’m ordering a backup and a travel size.

This is such a warm, mildly sweet, musky scent on my skin. It smells incredibly similar to Sonic Flower but without the carrot note. Amber Vanilla lasts a very long time on my skin, thank goodness. It's absolutely beautiful and reminds me of snuggling someone you love and smelling their warm, clean, musky, slightly sweet, soft skin. Lovely ❤️

I was so worried I wouldn’t like this because of my past experiences with skin scents. For some reason, some musks smell like crackers on me??? But this one is so pretty!!! It’s so soft, warm, a bit floral/woody while still maintaining this sweet amber and vanilla note.💗

This is a sneaky one. Seems to have little projection and short longevity. Yet, I get complimented by strangers hours after applying. I can't smell it anymore, but I've been stopped and told it smells amazing on me. I love the aroma, but I become anosmic very quickly.

Great skin scent. Woody and musky with some vanilla and a touch of pink pepper. Really blends into the skin (so much iso E super). Kind of boring but somehow pulls people closer, so it has something sensual about it. Better than glossier you, in my opinion.

I absolutely love this scent! It’s definitely a woody and a little bit spicy vanilla. It’s really sexy to me. The only thing that sucks is the longevity. It literally lasts like 2 hours max on me which is so sad because I really do love the way it smells.

A really beautiful musky skin scent. Almost like if Glossier You got intertwined with the coziest vanilla. It’s really not too sweet at all and is work-appropriate, but it really makes me just want to snuggle up in cold weather!

Started as a like, has evolved to a LOVE. I got a travel size and I'm almost done with it. Will get a full bottle of this. A more grown up, serious version of Glossier You. Very peppery, ambery and musky.

It’s not bad, but it does smell like my grandma, and I am not really close to her, or have nice memories of her, so it is quite difficult for me to use it. Vanilla Skin by Phlur + Glossier You = Grandma

Love this! A good summer vanilla. I do t get the top pink pepper notes so no compare to Musk K or You to me - find it way better! Light and fresh, ambery vanilla with clean musk. So good!

reminds me a lot of the sweet part of vanilla woods but with some differences. I had to give it three sniffs to fall in love. I'm someone who's used to gourmands so that's probably why!

Amazing and classic scent. I don’t like any other scent from this brand - but they really scored with this one. Sweeter and longer lasting than Glossier You.

The perfect "pink" vanilla, the carnation and pink pepper are blended beautiful to make a soft pink girly vanilla

Smells just like Father figure by Phlur

I stumbled upon this brand at a Canadian Sephora, and bought a discovery set based on its ethos (empowerment of Afghan women). Amber Vanilla is my second 7 Virtues scent to try, and while it is pleasant, it is not truly reflective of its name. I adore a good vanilla-amber scent, and I appreciate quality and richness in this accord. The gold standard for me is Amouage Material. AV, on the other hand, is an ambroxan-heavy scent, reminiscent in parts of other perfumes, notably Glossier You and Escentric Molecules (01 and 02). I like the creamy abstract nature of ambroxan, and feel that it is put to good use here, in typical cosy fashion. AV is an ambroxan scent from initial spray, creamy and cosy with a clean, musky texture. The pink pepper brings it firmly to Glossier You territory, adding its soft, rosy tingle up top. As it develops, the Iso-E-Super comes to the fore. I like this note less than ambroxan in general, but they complement each other nicely, and the ambroxan remains dominant throughout. As it develops, I get a soft sandalwood note, soft and synthetic, bringing to mind javanol. Again, it melds nicely with the muskiness. Soft, dry vanilla adds some sweetness to the base, but it is muted. It is a linear scent, mostly ambroxan complemented with other notes throughout. It wears pretty close to the skin, with intimate sillage and moderate longevity. It is a feminine-leaning, year-round scent, ideal for everyday use. A cosy, clean musky scent, AV is a pleasant, wearable, well-composed scent that is a great example of its genre. For me, its name is misleading, but as it is, AV is a road-less-travelled, altruistic alternative to Glossier You. I also prefer this to anything from Escentric Molecules. 4/5.

I love this on its own or combined with Cherry Ambition which has that saffron note I really like. Feels like a.nice winter scent, warm, toasty and cozy. I associate it with a bit of rum cream by a cozy woodfire, hanging out in an upscale cocktail bar with the girlies, long wool jackets and scarves over a cozy cream coloured sweater vibes. It has a quiet luxuriousness in a familiar, comforting way. Fell in love with this Canadian brand using more ecofriendly ingredients when we went to their Halifax waterfront store, which was adorable, super instagrammable. You can mix up your own signature combination of their scents onsite, as the scents are intended to be 'layerable'. While we didn't have time that weekend, i'll definitely be going back. The staff was so lovely, and walked us through their collections. This is my favourite 7 Virtues scent (though I haven't yet tried Clementine Dream!). I tend not to love super sweet or gourmand scents (some of this collection is more fruity) the deeper muskier notes in this one has a warm, richness to it. I feel its much more potent and perfumey than the skin scents like Glossier You and Molecule 01, and don't find the scents similar but do also LOVE those scents, so it could be why I love this. I don't get any vinegar, dill, or wood chip scents (this must be the ISO E, which works for me personnally)

This is a lovely fragrance but I don't get anything like Glossier You as I see so many in the comments do get that. On me, this is a lighter, airier, lest beast mode version of Amouage Guidance. I have a decant of Amouage Guidance and tested them and was amazed at the similarities on my skin. But, Guidance is a beast mode fragrance and one that is honestly too strong for me and I get a screechy wood note from it. The drydown is lovely though Amber Vanilla has a similar dry down on me but it MUCH lighter, not screechy, and not quite as creamy but still beautiful It may just be my skin that gets Guidance, don't buy the fragrance because of that. Test first I would have gone out and bought a bottle of Amber Vanilla immediately if it weren't for the performance. The performance made me so sad. Perfumes nowadays, especially non niche, just do not have the same performance as they used to. I like soft scents but I'd still like to be able to smell them I don't know, I may pick up a bottle at some point but not right now

I really like this one. I don't know what 7 Virtues is doing, but I love their entire line of flankers. Their ingredients are clean, and high end as well (when you spray it, you can see a shiny sheen for a bit even after it's dried down). I'm not a fan of Vanilla Woods though. Too sweet for me. But I love this one, along with Santal Vanille. Amber Vanilla smells like the Vanilla in Santal Vanille. If you let Santal Vanille dry down about 4 hrs, it smells just like Amber Vanilla. Though Santal Vanille is tame enough to wear year round, it is more fitting for autumn imo because of the spices. Amber Vanilla, on the other hand, is better fit to be worn year round because of its "vanilla" or basic scent. As Amber Vanilla dries down, it smells a bit aquatic/ozonic, making this unisex imo. I don't like vanillas, but I think this one has caught my full attention. This one is full bottle worthy in my books.

So I'm somewhat new to fragrances and so on and I needed a perfume for an event and all of mine are very middle school-esque fragrances that don't suit me since I've gotten older. I've been sampling perfumes and I sampled this one at Sephora, I liked it a bit but not enough to drop about 100 dollars on it so I didn't get it; However, the spritz that I had left on my wrist developed over the day and I fell in love with it and I returned to buy a smaller travel size in case I spontaneously hate it. I don't hate it yet and so far I'm in love, the only issue is, that I'm not particularly sure if other people can smell the scent unless their nose is shoved in my wrist. The spritz that's on my wrist does last all day, I fear though, that it can only be enjoyed with my face into my arm.

EDIT:Six months later... this one has evolved into a gorgeous, sparkly soft musky vanilla! Clean, non-gourmand, warm, elegant and comfortable/comforting! Feeling like "The Emperor's New Clothes" with this one... such high hopes after reading and watching so many reviewers gushing over the beauty and elegance of this fragrance, and I can BARELY SMELL ANYTHING unless my nose is right next to my hand! I'm like, where is the scent? Hoping that summer heat will bring out the fragrance- as I am so disappointed! The presentation of this fragrance is absolutely stunning- the set I got had a travel spray, full size, and eye mask, and the pink was so gorgeous!! I just wish that this fragrance projected more! I want to smell the pink carnations that everyone else seems to pick up!!

Not what I expected from the name, but I love this! Didn’t originally realize it was supposed to be a “your skin but better” fragrance. It does have a similarity to Glossier You which used to be my daily scent years ago, but it has that delicious vanilla note. At first sniff I got a bit of the pickle smell some sandalwood fragrances have but it’s balanced by the sweetness. After a few minutes I smell a gourmand vanilla that reminds me of Easter candy. Very balanced, not overly sweet. Unfortunately the lasting power isn’t great, but I’ve been spraying this on every morning and layering with other fragrances, and it has an uplifting effect! Lasts longer in my hair than on skin. I’ve almost finished my travel size and already purchased a FB. Can’t get enough of this!!

I've had this for a while now, and usually I write a review about fragrances after one day of wear because that's usually all it takes for me to figure out my thoughts about them, but with this one I was a bit confused. I expected a sweeter vanilla, but this is actually not even very sweet at all. It's very musky, and somehow even has a musty smell to it, that reminds me of old books or an old house. And then sometimes it also turns a tiny bit sour on me. And all of this sounds as if I hate this fragrance hahahah but I actually like it. I think the problem for me is that I'm not experienced with very musky scents and skin scents so I don't really know what to think of them or how to describe them.

It’s like a mix between 7 virtues “vanilla woods” and JHAG “not a perfume.” The vanilla they use in this must be the same as vanilla woods, because you can smell that fruity pear-like vanilla in it for sure. This is why it also smells similar to burberry goddess (since that has the same fruity vanilla). It’s quite nice, soft, and inoffensive. Bottom line: it’s an ambroxan base with a twist of cashmere and vanilla, giving it nice warmth. It does smell similar to all the fragrances in the “reminds me of” section. Update: as I wear this more, I realize its close similarity to JHAG Ode to Dullness. The cashmeran sandalwood vibe is very similar in both.

i was surprised that i didn’t hate this because i find the amber notes in 7 virtue’s vanilla woods and cherry ambition repulsive (even though i don’t normally hate amber). to my surprise, i don’t mind amber vanilla— possibly because it doesn’t actually have 7V’s amber. that said, it’s not a love. i can’t really pick up on a lot of the notes, aside from a non-sweet vanilla base with a touch of powdery florals if i really look for them, but in a generic perfume cloud way than distinct notes.

This is a nice skin scent for fall and spring that isn't too loud, but has a nice touch of sugar. It's a delicate sweetness that really does smell a bit resinous, but it isn't overwhelming by any means, to the point where I'd almost recommend it for spring and summer. The florals in this do a nice job balancing out the sweetness. Nothing incredibly special or unique, but it's a solid scent to warm and sweeten up the skin without giving everyone a headache.

Received a sample of this and I will agree that this fragrance is marketed fully incorrectly - not very amber, not very vanilla, not very pink floral. To me, this smells nearly identical to Nirvana Bourbon by Elizabeth and James, not very much at all like Glossier You or other musks. I love that scent profile, and that perfume is discontinued, so I would consider this. But it is certainly not amber-y.

I really like it!! It's a great vanilla for year-round and not too ambery. It's so weird, this perfume reminds me of so many other scents that I don't think smell like each other, but I think this scent smells like all of them, like Glossier You and even God is a Woman. The vanilla is also similar to Vanilla Woods. And I don't think I need more than a sample, but I'm glad I got to try it!

Can’t really see how that would be offensive. A very soft musky vanilla that is more of a comfort scent rather than a head turner. I have a 10 ml travel size of this and though I’ll definitely use it, I don’t think I have a place for this so I won’t be committing to a full bottle. This has been done before and unfortunately it’s nothing to write home about. Overall maybe a 6/10?

Blind bought this because sometimes I crave clean soft skin scents and this does not disappoint. It opens up fresh and slightly spicy from the pink pepper. I then get the florals and a touch of sandalwood (though not listed on the notes here) as it settles on my skin, a beautiful vanilla emerges. Really pretty, I think it will be great for layering too!

This is the perfect year round vanilla! It so hard to find a vanilla that works in warmer weather and this is it. It starts out similar to something like MFK GFG or eau duelle (not dupe) but dries down similar to vanilla woods or even silky woods. So much better than similar ones in price range like secret genius, vanilla sky, etc. I'm a fan!
