Red Burning Night

I've been looking for a lovely, heady jasmine perfume and I think I've found it here. I have my tuberose perfume with Rouge Malachite and this is in that similar scent profile with jasmine. It's warm, rich, full and bright. It's balanced, not too dense, not green, unfettered by other notes and making it a pure flora perfume. It projects nicely, not stifling like Alien. Alien has a different DNA where that jasmine pulls in a strange, unnatural direction. This is a more natural smelling jasmine. It's night blooming jasmine, picked peak season. It's sparkly and rich but not dense. The pepper is subtle, probably giving it that sparkly quality and woods are there to ground it and give it some nuances. The akigalawood doesn't appear until after the first hour. Thankfully, it's used lightly as that note can really dominate a fragrance for me. The name Red Burning Night makes me think of an evening perfume, but I think this could be used for daily wear. It is not one dimensional, as it starts out a heady jasmine, then the bergamot and pink pepper appear, then it becomes a woody floral when the base notes come out. I really am digging The Different Company. This along with Majaina Sin will be my next FBW purchases.

Red Burning Night: well chosen name! It opens slightly sweet (ylang ylang) and than morphs quickly into a complex (in a good way), deep, floral, woody, spicy perfume. My nose smells jasmine and wood but my brain conjures a dark, velvety rose up 😂 (not the thornless genus). And a glass of excuisite red wine on a dark wooden table. Sexy, classy, elaborate, with depth, warmth. Nothing to complain about the drydown: no harsh notes coming up, nothing turns unpleasant or flat. Absolutely unisex, I love it on myself and would surely find it highly attractive on a man. Outstanding longviety A wonderfull fragrance for winter or fall, or, as the name suggests, night.

Oh my! This is sexy! I cannot stop smelling myself. I NEED a full bottle of this immediately. Update: 8 months later, I finally got it! Still in love with her 🥰

The Different Company is a French brand I quite like. They produce chic, impactful fragrances with that slightly old-school elegance that doesn’t shout but still makes itself noticed—the kind of elegance that feels unmistakably French. Each of their creations has a very clear personality, and Red Burning Night is no exception. Jasmine and ylang-ylang: two notes you either love or hate, and I personally adore them (so I admit from the start that my judgment may not be completely objective!). Here they are absolutely spectacular. The jasmine has a slightly indolic character just the way I like it: sensual, with that subtle animalic nuance that makes it interesting rather than banal. The ylang-ylang accompanies it with a sweet, slightly vintage touch, and together they create a floral composition with great impact and allure. There is something in this perfume that smells ancient—in the best possible sense of the word. As others have already pointed out, it immediately reminded me of Portrayal Woman, which I own. Same olfactory family, same emotional density, even though of course they are different creations. Spring is the right season for it: it needs light and mild weather to shine, don’t imagine wearing it under a heavy winter coat. The only shadow—and I’m sorry to say it for a brand I respect—is performance: four hours and the fragrance is gone, which is a pity considering the price. Still, it’s a pass for me, with just a small negative note regarding the cost. A beautiful, elegant floral with character and clearly perceptible quality ingredients. Not for everyone, but for lovers of this type of flower it’s a small joy.

Reminds me a lot of Alien but not the same. I smell ylang ylang and jasmine for sure. It is a deeper version of Alien to me. Projection is weak but the longevity is good. I would still choose Alien over this though, the old formulation of Alien that is.
