Thai Iced Tea

I’m so happy to have found this fragrance. It’s a beautiful spicy, almost like a hot chai latte like scent. On the dry down it smells very similar to Kayali Vanilla Royal Sugared Patchouli. It is very creamy and laconic but I wouldn’t necessarily say condensed milk like. This is absolutely with a smell.

I have been so pleasantly surprised by this scent. I initially came across it while looking for a spicy condensed milk scent and impulse purchased the 10ml because it was so inexpensive. It's not as condensed milk forward as I wanted -- initially. It starts out quite spicy and cardamon forward, but over time melts into a wonderful and balanced milky gourmand. Really impressed by the quality considering the price. I usually do not gravitate towards gourmands (my husband does not like "food" scents), but this is definitely a new go-to. Delightfully interesting yet unoffensive for something different to wear to the office.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. I wish I smelled just one thing edible in this supposed gourmand. All I get is a synthetic (expected) masculine (not as expected) bathtub concoction of designer copycat notes that Dua didn’t have another current name for (unexpected.) Thai tea is not a difficult concept. Black tea is slightly tannic and therefore sharp. It may be accentuated by a top note of bergamot. The spices in Thai tea are typically cinnamon, cardamom and star anise. Black pepper wouldn’t knock points off. Most of all, Thai tea is lactonic and sweet. It simply isn’t Thai tea and it certainly isn’t gourmand without these. I’m sorry I didn’t make Thai tea, but these are the rules. As far as I read, Dua was at least adept at sugar. Say a dua for me because this one actually made me angry.

This smells gawdawful to me, but fragrance is subjective. This is why I don’t buy Dua’s original creations without sampling first.
