Metal Flower

This is one of my favorite perfumes. 10/10. And that is a total shockers. I am not normally a fan of floral scents and generally not rose. Like, 98/100 floral forward scents are a hard pass for me. Yet this one IS floral first... and has been in regular rotation for almost a year! It's sharp and bright and acidic and mettalic and floral all at once. I feel incredibly alive when I get a wiff of it. I imagine it being worn by a female James Bond in her ball gown — gorgeous and sultry yet mysterious and a total bad ass. This is the scent I go to for an evening pick me up -- its Friday night, I'm feeling a bit tired but want to motivate and have a bit of a sexy edge — metal flower. Black tie event? Metal flower. Morning and I want to feel confident and beautiful and badass? Metal flower. Love love love.

Metal Flower is a drop-dead gorgeous rose, and an instant love for me. It's a dimensional, heavy rose-patchouli. Green notes and aldehydes prevent it from becoming suffocating. It's the smell of an enchanted garden at twilight. There are no "metal" notes here, but it does have a cool, aloof quality. In its later stages it does get a touch soapy, but it never becomes overly clean. The Harmonist is pricy (though refillable bottles make repeat purchases more reasonable after the initial investment), and I'd suggest Juliette Has a Gun's Lady Vengeance as a reasonably similar alternative, though Metal Flower is certainlty darker and more sophisticated.

I agree with the post below 👇🏽.... this is one of my most favorite rose-centric fragrances of all time! It's absolutely gorgeous!!! It's fluffy, velvety soft petals yet grounded and assured. The way this wears.... ahhh man ...this is just something to be experienced! I feel soo expensive and feminine when I wear this. I would say that testing this through a sample will NOT do this frag justice.... she deserves to be sprayed at full atomizer pressure. ..... Easily in my Top 5 for Life!

WOW! I am very impressed with this fragrance! This is by far my favorite musky rose fragrance out of all I have. The 3 roses combine with the green notes to harmonize so well. The white musk is heavy enough to earn the name Metal Flower. Lasts all day and fills my office. Very impressed as this is the first bottle in this house I have purchased, now to see whats next on my list here. Silage: 10/10 Quality: 10/10 Presentation: 10/10 10**** all the way!

This reminds me of Parure by Guerlain and I love that! It is an elegant chyphre, which smells like a beautiful Parisian woman on a spring day. It is sophisticated but not at all cold or unapproachable; it is too sexy to be stuffy. Young or old could wear this but you have to appreciate a green/rose chyphre that isn’t at all sweet, gourmand or girly.

I got a 8 ml from Scent bird and it was love at first sniff but it smelled so familiar and couldn't place the smell until I went through my collection this is an expensive version of Chloe edp, I like Metal Flowers better but my pockets will settle for Chloe edp instead.

One of the most beautiful Rose fragrances I own! Strong and unapologetic .... The opening is a bomb of Patchuli , that transition to a beautiful brigth Musky aldahydic ROSE bomb!! long lasting & moderate-strong sillage!

Such a great take on rose. I am so into that aldehyde and rose oxide at the beginning. The name perfectly describes this scent profile. Very mindful very demure!

It's a freshie. I loved it on my skin and clothes. Thankfully, my nose does not pick up a metallic scent. I had a 2 ml sample. This will be a future buy.

2001, rose potpourri. has the woody, musky feeling that potpourri does. lasts a decent amount of time. dry in my opinion.

Wow, GenevaX below described it exactly for how I feel about this gorgeous, gorgeous Rose Metal! Before I read that review, I immediately thought to myself: "this is sneaking out of a stuffy formal gala wearing a seductive yet classy black evening gown, running barefoot in an enchanted garden at around twilight looking up at the distant shiny metalic stars". Then I read that review and yes, wow! ✓Instant love ✓Drop-dead Gorgeous Rose ✓No metal but a cool quality ✓drys down soapy, but not overly clean Her performance is fantastic. I get a whole day's worth (dawn to dusk). Some find her Beautiful, others Pretty, others think of her as Sexy, but everyone likes her and think she's pleasant even if they just haven't gotten to know her.

Metal Flower is a beautiful perfume. Cool and reserved at first, MF opens up like a rose in the sun and reveals loveliness. This is a realistic rose with a good dose of musk, luckily the musk doesn't dominate. Just a tiny bit soapy in the dry down, MF is a very wearable unisex fragrance, and work safe, too. Sillage and lasting power are modest at best, like so many other modern frags. Considering what this perfume costs, better sillage/longevity would be nice. Before receiving a carded sample I was unaware of this company. Their fragrances are expensive, and the bottles are starkly beautiful. Well made and designed, I still can't justify the cost of a full bottle. Which is even more reason to enjoy the sample!

Opens with an airy and bright orange blossom. The rose is clean, aquatic, and dewy. Yet not green. The rose is fully formed, but not heavy or dry. It's light but not delicate. Elegant for sure. "Sterile" is the word another review mentioned and I agree. I totally get the vibe from the name without a literal metallic note. Though they could have gone there if they wanted. Very nice for every day and maybe even office appropriate. Fresh, modern, a little femme leaning. Superb for spring- floral but has an airy coldness. A slight soapy note but it's not taking up too much space in the composition.

I would never have expected to like this, as neither rose nor ylang are favorites of mine. But somehow, this comes across as fresh and fruity, rather than too sweet. The initial spray is reminiscent of raspberries, then settles into a fresh green rose. I don't really smell anything metallic, but there is a coldness to it that's more an impression than a true scent. If you love roses, or if you want to like them but have found them cloying so far, maybe give this a try. Small edit: I have to be careful not to get this on my clothes. On fabric the rose note becomes overpowering and inescapable.

This is a very pretty, watery, musky, aldehydic rose fragrance. I see it has green notes listed, however I get more of a watery rose than a green rose. This is in the same vein as Lazy Sunday Morning by Maison Margiela, however Metal Flower is a bit deeper. I consider this to be quite feminine leaning and perfect for Spring. Performance on me is okay, lasting about 5 hours. I like this a lot, it's very pretty, however it's also very overpriced for what it is.

Opening does smell metallic thanks to the aldeydes, and thereafter, they lift up the rose and jasmine. I love the use of orange blossom which is used to balance and smooth things out. Drydown is rose and musk. I can see why this one is rated highly. I guess I’m just an aldehyde junkie. The way this sparkles is just.. incredible! Almost mouthwatering tartness overlaying something powdery soft and musky. I got a decant maybe 3 years ago and I like it as much as the first time I wore it. Maybe it doesn’t scream “me” but it sure is special. I feel like as far as rose fragrances go I wish this was what was popular over something like delina. It feels more elegant and nuanced.

Opens bright and fresh. The fragrance proceeds in a shower-fresh manner which is quite appropriate for many occasions. I love the opening. - It smells like a bright sweet and clean rose. The patchouli comes through in the dry down and to be honest, I don't enjoy that part. I like the fragrance overall. I would like it much more without the patch. fbw anyway.

I thought something called Metal Flower would introduce a new and interesting olfactory experience, but unfortunately, it’s mostly a fairly conventional rose scent. It’s a very nice rose, but not particularly interesting. It also includes some soapy aldehydes with a slight metallic glint. But for most of its life, this is a straightforward, pleasant rose.

I am really appreciating this fragrance. It has staying power yet it’s not overpowering; at the end of the day I still smell it but softly. I definitely get the white musk with a touch of patchouli. I would wear this year round and plan to experiment with layering it with other fragrances. 9/10!for me🥰

Laundry / hair conditioner metallic roses with a soft base of musk & patchouli. Not a skin scent, but can be if you spray lightly. I had a nice bubble for hours and sillage was also working thanks to aldehydes. Unisex. Warm weather.

a sterile rose. they capture the metal perfectly with the aldehydes. on my skin it doesn't really develop much. i think it's nice, i just don't know how this fits into my lifestyle and the spaces i occupy.

A metallic rose. A picture: a nice and small garden of roses in a modern megacity. For rose lovers. Modern & elegant. More for spring to my opinion.

I'm testing the Harmonist discovery set blind. I haven't looked up anything about them: names, notes, etc. Did the white ones already, this is the fourth black one. Very nice opening of florals. I get a little citrus, like lime, and as it dries down the florals do too and the lime turns more to grapefruit, or maybe it's bergamot. Its body seems to have a more astringent musk. I don't get very much scent of the base notes, it's mostly middle ground and higher. After a few moments it smells of rose, but I'm afraid to say it is as I was so wrong last time I thought I smelled rose. At other times, I get a slight soapy scent, but of the scented soap variety, non-chemically or overtly soapy. It's barely noticeable. Overall this definitely has that rosy, kind, and welcoming, mature, but not quite grandmother rose quality. It carried a moderate sillage for a bit and lasted as a skin scent most of the day. Looking at the name and notes now, that slight astringency is found in the "metal" portion of the name, and the flower (thank goodness it is rose) is obvious, though I didn't expect such a variety blended. To me it bends feminine, not woodsy, or musky, or something for those wanting a masculine leaning rose fragrance. It's not your grandmother's rose, or some overly sweet mainstream rose. I like the name more than the fragrance. Whoaboy's comment about an element of pencil shavings is on point. Like sharpening a rose pencil.

I get exactly what the name says: metal aldehydes and a rose/ylang mix. The metallic notes are subtle but definitely there in the background, almost like metal or pencil shavings. Unfortunately the combination of rose and ylang is quite syrupy (I get a ton of ylang on me). Overall, the syrup is too heavy to balance well with the metal frame. I would have preferred a greener, fresher rose--perhaps cut out the ylang altogether as I get no green notes whatsoever. It looks like some of you are getting that though, so it might be better on you than it is on me.

I haven’t done side by side comparison, but I definitely also thought this reminded me of Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has a Gun. While I imagine wearing Juliette Has a Gun to a rock concert, Metal Flower is just unremarkable to me. I rated it just as OK. Had the pleasure of testing it though because I got samples of The Harmonist along with my purchase of Yin Transformation. Now that one is pure pleasure for me to wear and to own. Yin Transformation is for me. Metal Flower is not.

This is a crisp, sharp, green rose fragrance. It opens really sharp, softens a little bit as it dries. I spray it once in the crook of my elbow and it creates a nice sillage bubble around me, but I soon get tired of that sharpness. I definitely have to be in the mood for it. Do not over spray this. This is the kind of perfume that has notes some people can be sensitive to, and can be headache inducing.

Not as unique as I expected... The only unique aspect of the scent is the metallic scent to it (which is definitely noticeable to me and the friends I have asked to smell it). Other than that, it's a pretty basic rose-forward scent (but not true rose, more like rose-scented soap / artificial rose). If you're looking for something unique, complex, and layered -- this is not it.

How do people own Chloé and not associate it to this fragrance? I own Chloé. I like it and wear it in 40°-70° weather, but I do not like this one. It fades away rather quickly and is also expensive, in my opinion. If you haven't smelled Chloé, and you like this one, go ahead and try it—u may like it even MORE!

The name is so suiting for this fragrance! It smells like a slightly metallic rose (thank you aldehydes). There is a certain green notes in there, but I feel you can find so many better fresh rose scents. This one is a tad dull to me and I don’t love the base.

I don't gravitate towards rose fragrances typically so this scent is just alright for me. It is fresh, aldehydic, cold rose. Elegant. Daytime appropriate. Not unpleasant but not my favorite from the brand.

Big sigh. I used to pride myself in the fact I've never met a perfume i needed to scrub off......until now. I got my SB envelope and I was super stoked. Tom Ford, Balenciaga, and Metal Flower. I was mostly looking forward to Metal Flower. Everything pointed to me needing a full bottle of this. The scent profile was everything I love. I almost did a blind buy of a full sized bottle. So glad I did the sample through SB. I sprayed this on. Two sprays, this is my usual way to conduct my initial induction into a new scent. From the first whiff I was like WTH IS THAT? And not in a good way. Each sniff made it clear this scent was "off" on me. At first I thought it was some kind of cleaner. I wracked my brain trying to figure it out. Then it came to me. Bug spray. This is very expensive bug spray on me. Some of you had great experiences with Metal Flower and that makes me think its a personal chemistry thing. I will pass the love along to a friend and hope she loves it.

Real old-school aldehydes, like rosy hotel soap. Metallic aspect didn't come through for me. A little cloying: if you have hangups about rose/patchouli/aldehydes this scent will make them worse. I like all of those fine, but I still wouldn't wear Metal Flower because I'm a human man and not an Aristocat.

One of the few fragrance decants I've just thrown away. I adore florals, particularly rose, but to me this smelled like every laundry product on earth mixed into some sort of nuclear extract. It's STRONG and I did not find it pleasant.

nauseating, almost citrussy on my skin but it is just bordering on a sick note ? its hard to explain, i think its just on my skin that it is bad, because i found it alright on clothes

Smells like black licorice. I get nothing else. I would love to know how anyone can love this. Good for them, i just can’t stand it.

After trying the discovery and best seller sets, this was my first FB purchase. The notes listed are a bit wrong though. Notes from the frags packaging is below. I tested the parfum and bought the EDP. I will say that the EDP smells just like the parfum but better. It's metal edges aren't as sharp and feels a bit better blended. My hubby said that on clothes, the metal in the parfum was too much, it overpowered and he was right on the money. With the EDP, the metal is still there and beautiful but it's balanced with the rest of the notes. I was going back and forth between this and Guilding Water as my all-season selection from The Harmonist and I went with this because it is so different than anything I own. I have a lot of rose forward fragrances, none are like this. None of their offerings have that "perfumey" smell, they are all just exquisite IMO. There were quite a few that I didn't like just based on personal preferences. I'll admit that at first the "whole feng shui for your scent" almost turned me away as it feels a little gimmicky but I'm so glad I tried them. If you see one you think you'll like, sample it! I bought best seller & discovery set samplers and I'm really liking the metal offerings so far. Aldehydes and me usually do NOT get along. I've found a few aldehydic frags I can tolerate but rarely find one I enjoy. This one, while the note listing looks a bit banal, it's quite beautiful in it's effortlessness! As most of the "freshie" offerings from this house, the performance was beyond my expectations! This one has decent sillage and great projection. It lasted on my skin about 6 to 8 hours which is great for me! My skin literally drinks these kinds of scents. A lot of the scents from this house aren't in the "super creative" and "interesting" but that doesn't seem to be what this house is about. It's about evoking feelings. I know a lot of niche buyers use those categories to define a stellar creation but those qualifiers aren't going to work here. I own Chloe EDP, Chloe Absolu, and Chloe Naturelle and I don't draw any similarities between Metal Flower and those. Metal Flower is somehow metallic without the sharp, harsh edges that is felt through the entire development of those. This one and Golden Earth may end up on my FB list.

The reviews for this scent are so all over the place. I've had a lot of "wins" with this brand, and I'm glad I trusted my instincts and jumped in. I normally don't reach for floral leaning scents. Especially rose ones. This rose perfume is lightly sweetened with ylang ylang, but not overly jammy sweet, this is an "evening" rose. It radiates with a confidant, sexy, skin scent muskiness. This perfume is the badass rose scent I never knew I needed. I don't get any metallic notes from this at all. I love, love this perfume. (I cannot stop huffing myself!!)

This fragrance is a bold and prominent floral scent. Despite that, it still carries an air of sophistication and elegance, which often earns me compliments whenever I wear it. Normally, I tend to lean towards leather and amber fragrances, but I find this one to be a perfect choice for refreshing summer days. It possesses an intriguing and sophisticated character while also having impressive longevity. It’s definitely a keeper.

Amazing fragrance. It is soft but robust. Performance and sillage are excellent. Apply in the morning and it will stay with you all day and into the evening. Unisex (but leans feminine) and versatile. The combination of roses play on each other to make something greater than the sum of its parts. If you like rose fragrances you will love this. A protective fragrance. This is so natural and photorealistic! I know that nowadays it is not easy to find the smeel of roses in a flower shop, but if you can go for a walk in a field of roses you know what I mean. Lots of comfort in this bottle, no sour feelings, no thorns, no citrus. For me, it is an aura. Maybe the best rose I've ever had the chance to try.

If you love your starchy aldehydes, you’d love this. The musk and rose element of the fragrance heavily brings to mind Narciso Rodriguez For Her Fleur Musc, however if you liked Paco Rabanne’s Calandre or YSL Rive Gauche this might be a rosy modern twist on those classics. Performs great and leaves a very nice fresh scent trail!

Well-developed, pretty rose but very intimate—it’s almost a little TOO quiet. I don’t sense any sharp, metallic edges in this one. There’s a little pop of green but mostly this is a smooth, well-behaved rose. A major plus: No screech at all.

Metal Flower smells like Hair Spray that is good quality, bold, fresh, floral, and upscale. If I owned a hair salon this is how I would want it to smell inside during the spring and summer. Good.. for what it is. 7.5/10

Metal Flower is exactly what this is. It’s a rose fragrance with aldehydes that present like that sharp metal twang. The longevity is eternal. So, if you like fizzy, soapy rose fragrances this is a great option.

This is not a powerhouse rose by any means. It’s floral but nothing to write home about. The patchouli is clean not dirty and after a while this reminds me of Red Oud by Montale (a very light sister to it).

Before there was Amouage Guidance, there was Metal Flower. The 20 minute opening is different, but the rest of the wear to me is the same. And I hate them equally.
