Crop 2021

Belgian chocolate and Kalimantan Oud. Every year The House of Oud releases a limited simple perfume combining their latest obtained batch of oud with one or two interesting ingredients. Some work (such as the 2019 combination with Palo Santo). Some misfire (such as the 2020 combination with coconut). The 2021 combination is with an absolutely delectable cacao accord resembling very fine Belgian chocolates. The combination works and is a real treat for woody gourmand fans. Others will find themselves scratching their heads in disbelief. I really enjoyed the gourmand decadence that came with its wear. Proceed with caution.

The oud here is very green, airy, and slightly mentholated, similar to the one from Crop 2016 (both Kalimantan). The fragrance smells like Pardon with more said oud (very different from the warm fuzzy resinous varieties), but less balanced & smooth.

I barely pick up any of the cacao notes. Just the musty agarwood. Around the hour mark, the sweet cacao comes out a LITTLE more and the agarwood intensity goes down a bit. Its nice at this point but a bit too long for me to get there.

Received a sample of House of Oud 2021. I am a huge fan of oud and have several quality ouds in my collection so I was curious to try this one. I must say that I am very disappointed with this one. Someone wrote lower down that its like Russian Oud from Areej Le Dore. I have that one and NO it is nothing like Russian Oud. Russian Oud is very well blended. The Cacao note is very well balanced and supports the oud very well creating a wonderful scent. In Crop 2021, the Cacao was very weak and for some reason the Oud gave me a shoe polish/hydrocarbon type smell. I have Crop 2021 on one arm and Borneo Oud from Fragrance Du Bois for comparison. Whereas Borneo oud smell very natural and evolves over time, Crop 2021 is no comparison and linear in its shoe polish smell. There are way better Oud fragrances so I would look elsewhere than the House of Oud Crop 2021

You've just broken into an old home, scavenging. It's the year 2147 AD, long after the Apocalypse, which wiped out most of humanity. You find your way to the kitchen and you begin rummaging around, kicking up dust, awakening the age of the room. You discover a bag of unsweetened baker's chocolate, and you take a seat at the dusty kitchen table to sample it. It's, unfortunately, bitter, almost tasteless--chocolate long expired, a vivid reminder of your world. You begin to daydream of a time long past while looking over to the kitchen windows, noticing the overgrowth of nature piling in--roses and thorns growing from old, dusty bones. the most chocolately smell i have ever smelled.. smells more chocolately than chocolate itself.... smells like a child who just ate chocolate and theres crumbles around their mouth and they’re whispering in your ear and their warm breaths hits you...personally, i didnt like it.. and its very strong can last atleast 8 hrs.. longevity 8/10 chocolate 10/10

This is probably the most synthetic smelling offering from the Crop line. The drydown smells like something from Montale. That's not to say it smells bad, but the synthetic component is a let down.

This smells like a men's locker room. Best possible purchase if you want to smell like sweaty socks after a soccer game.
