Alias

I wasn't sure about this one at first. On the initial spray, the sandalwood was much more prominent than I expected, and I wasn't convinced it was for me. But as it dried down, everything changed. It became incredibly creamy, smooth, and comforting. The best way I can describe it is like unsweetened rice milk. Not gourmand or sugary, but soft, milky, and elegant. What's really interesting is that after wearing it once, I sprayed it again the next day and immediately noticed that creamy quality much earlier. It was like my nose finally understood the composition, and the sandalwood no longer overshadowed everything else. The longevity also surprised me. I applied it around 6 p.m., and I could still smell it when I woke up around 9 the next morning. It's intimate rather than loud, but it lasts beautifully on my skin. This ended up being a slow-burn love for me, and it's gone from "I'm not sure" to a full-bottle purchase.

With my chemistry this is a creamy sweet lactonic sandalwood. L'Eau Papier (Diptyque) adjacent but less earthy/nutty/photo-realistic. It's a skin scent with plenty of sillage. It's a pretty everyday go to for sure. I do not get even a *hint* of "sour" or "old" or "food" etc. per other reviews - which just goes to show individual chemistry is everything when it comes to how a scent will wear on you specifically.

This smells great !!! I bought the travel size . It’s very lite though. I get a lot of sweet sandalwood and rice milk and freesia but not much else . It’s so expensive for how lite it is . It’s a very warm and cozy scent although I think this one would be good year round . I’m kind of surprised there is no Cardamom in there . Could just be that it’s a cold day and I need to let it sit and macerate and use it in warmer weather . Very lovely ! Reminds me a little bit of woodphoria and holiday smells but lighter , just a whisper of the wood in the background . But it’s that same kind of dry warm wood scent . I think this is a good unisex scent . Could go either way , it isn’t feminine or masculine. It’s just warm , lite and cozy

to me, this IMMEDIATELY evoked whatever scent that abercrombie & fitch had pumping through their stores in the early 2000s, but with a slightly more feminine twist. it is definitely a sandalwood bomb, at least on my skin. i’m a bit disappointed that not many distinguishable notes are coming through other than sandalwood and the faintest lactonic whisper. thankfully, i’m not getting the pickle vibe that others have picked up on, but there is something here that’s subtly, unpleasantly sour. all in all, it sort of just smells like an expensive hotel soap bar and is really not worth writing home about. i’m a little saddened by the whole experience as i was very excited by the notes. sillage is ok, longevity is meh. utterly underwhelming based on my high expectations, though it is a solid composition as a whole.

I had high hopes and sadly, this isn’t it. My first fragrance from the maker and I am not impressed. I definitely got that pickly smell on my skin that I never have gotten before from any of my fragrances with sandalwood. I hoped it would only be present upon initial spray but it’s still there during the dry down :( I definitely pick up sweet and savory and I’m just not a fan of savory scents I’m finding out. I do not see this being full bottle worthy but that’s ME so do with that as you will :)

I was so excited for this when I saw the notes. I love a lactonic fragrance. This was not at all what I was expecting. Alias is overpowered by sandalwood that turns pickle on my skin. I do get some of the freesia in the dry down. I never got milk or rice. Great concept, lackluster execution.

I have tried to like this but I don’t. The notes include rice milk, not rice and milk (based on the Maker’s website - Fragrantica is wrong). I’d probably like it more if it had a rice note. All I get is sandalwood, and not a creamy one to my nose.

I love the notes, but why is it giving pickle juice! The drydown calms that initial pickled cucumber smell but unfortuntly I am not buy a full size bottle.

To me this smells like a cheap men’s cologne. It’s weak and basic. The notes are deceiving it smells nothing like described! Big big pass.

I really wanted to like this one, especially since I was so excited about that rice milk note. Unfortunately, it just isn't for me. There is something in the blend, likely the mix of sandalwood and freesia, that ends up smelling like a sweet, briny dill pickle on my skin. I also get a specific kind of old powderiness that reminds me of clothes that have been tucked away in a trunk for years with scented sachets. The whole fragrance has a vintage and discordant feel that doesn't quite come together for me. It’s also very gentle and faint, so there isn't much projection at all. Sadly, this isn't a scent that will be staying in my collection.

It is very mature, creamy sandalwood that has a vintage feel to it. This is not for me at all! 😖 I wore it for a whole day and felt very depressed

The freesia and milk combination is so sour and immediately nauseating. It smells like you sprayed floral Lysol into a glass of old milk.

Vintage .very old feeling to it. Like you took it from a great grandmother closet. Tried to like it and I wore it a whole day at work.

I understand how this fragrance was inspired by the idea of checking into a hotel under an alias. It starts out with a creamy and slightly green floral cloak, but that cloak is soon dropped to reveal something more human and less “put on”. Mostly sandalwood and starchy musk. I see the image of a beautiful white tile bathroom and free standing tub, drawn with milky water complete with orchid petals. It layers especially well with White Rice from d’Annam and Lover also from The Maker (if you’re looking to lean into the sandalwood). PS - This is what I wished Milk Orchid smelled like

To my nose this is a creamier, slightly woodier version of Je Ne Sais Quoi. Very clean and comforting with a vintage feel. Paper-wrapped rice husks (specifically rice husk, not the rice grain; i grew up with it and this smells nearly identical) drenched in milk, with a big bouquet of freesia on the table. On my skin the florals bloom, naturally sweet and creamy. Quite a nice scent for spring, though I'm still deciding whether or not i like it, this pulls too cool and clean for my liking.

I just purchased this off the direct website - I’ll update with thoughts. They did a “surprise” release and have Alias II as well. Just smells like a fancy soap :( After falling in love with Dream last year, and being a sandalwood obsessed girl, I thought this would be right up my alley. Unfortunately to my nose it smells very soapy and floral, I get barely and cozy or woody notes. Definitely not for me!

This a soft, cosy, close to you scent. To me it is comforting, and perfect for bedtime. I definitely get a slightly woody rice from it with some floral undertones. I’m curious when Alias 2 will be arriving because that one peaked my interest as well.

Has anyone tried Alias II that was a surprise release after Alias? It’s not on Fragrantica yet and no one’s talking about it. I blind bought it from someone else but don’t have it yet. The notes sound interesting!!

This smells fantastic, especially on my skin. I don’t get any of the pickly smell like others have noted. I get a nice light floral musk. I don’t get much of the lactonic/rice smell...but I really enjoy this

Had high hopes from this ones especially because of the but this smells extremely generic.

When is the release date!? I’m so excited will report back
