La Fenice Pour Homme

#1296 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I've been mulling over these Merchant of Venice scents for a couple of years. Not really sure why I haven't pulled the trigger before now. I finally ordered decants of the prime suspects, chosen for their incense notes. This is a great scent. The opening is magnificent with a strong cloves, leather, cedar and olibanum intro that's almost boot polish strong. It can certainly go toe-to-toe with any Memo Paris leather. Not for car pools and close spaces, at least initially, as it projects and could get cloying for someone trapped in the car with you for a morning commute. But in a half hour or so it's office safe. For me this is dinner date in an open-air restaurant stuff. I get why people mention Fahrenheit. Everyone knows that scent. But this is really not quite as complex as that. Still, I would say if you own Dior "Fahreneheit", Kilian "Dark Lord", Franck Boclet "Cashmere", Philip Plein "No Limit$", Memo Paris "Iberian Leather", Serge Lutens "Cuir Mauresque", Xerjoff "Cruz del Sur I", Bois 1920 "Oro Nero", Van Cleef and Arpels "Pour Homme" you really get nothing new here, and you can get most of what those scents offer for $22 in a bottle of Maison Alhambra Fahrenheit dupe "Fortnight" if you can tolerate the synthetics and the shorter lifespan. This is a high quality scent that I really like, but just as I couldn't stand to be around kids chewing "Clove" chewing gum all day, clove heavy scents are really not my thing. But this one is almost my thing.

La Fenice Pour Homme is a wonderful fragrance for those who enjoy more traditionally masculine fragrances. This fragrance was released in 2016, but I would wholeheartedly believe someone if they said this came out in 1986. La Fenice has associations with Dior Fahrenheit, but it is greener, fresher, and noticably more herbal. It also doesn't have that "petrol" note that people associate with Fahrenheit. I personally love both fragrances, and I feel like La Fenice is like Fahrenheit's Italian cousin. The basil note in La Fenice feels very much like Italian herbs to me. It really makes this fragrance stand out. The quality is very high as expected from the Merchant of Venice. I really like this fragrance house, and I have owned several of their fragrances. I get about 6 to 7 hours of longevity from La Fenice with moderate to slightly above moderate projection. It's not a fragrance that screams, but it is noticeable. This is cool, calm, and confident. I could wear this anywhere at any time, and it wouldn't be out of place. This is definitely a winner in my book

It arrived today, I took it out and sprayed twice, my girlfriend immediately said “oh I know this one”, she didn’t, but her ex-BF wore Fahrenheit or as she described it “the one in the black and red bottle”. So yes, it is really similar to Fahrenheit but IMO it’s better. This is to Fahrenheit is what the cool friend is without the crazy stuff that makes you go “dude! Relax”. It’s fresher, less intense than Fahrenheit. You smell plenty of violet leaf, a bit of orange , it stays this way, performance is low but if you are patient enough you get most of scents of this house in discount at certain point, then the price isn’t that painful. All in all, I am very much enjoying this and I can see a place for it even though I am becoming very picky about what stays in my collection.

I've had this one a long time. I really enjoy wearing it. It's crisp and fresh with a light ambery base. Versatile and office safe. I see reviews below saying it performs poorly but that's not my experience with it. It's light but it's present. I get a workday out of it and that's enough for me. When I need something that doesn't scream but stays with me I reach for this one.

The Best description is that Its niche Fahrenheit. More rounded and very nicely blended. Its really pretty fantastic. If you like Fahrenheit or violet leaf note; you will love this. Performance is good. Average projection with good longevity. Bottle worthy. 9/10.

Violet leaf + Peppery sour iris + Ambery cedar. Nicely done! Somewhat reminded me of a tamed Dior Fahrenheit in the mid phases, but definitely fresher and much more herbal. Graceful and elegant, yet fresh and pleasurable. Update: After wearing this for 2 days i am disappointed with the performance. It has medium sillage and projection and longevity is 5-6 hours. Somewhat weak for edp concentration and niche quality.

The basil note on my skin is very prominent, so the scent comes off as very aromatic. It's also sort of ozonic. Personally, I'm not getting the leather note. Overall, not my cup of tea. It smells "manly" in a Gilette shaving foam kind of way. If sweet, powdery, gourmand, Ambroxan-heavy, and overall very modern-smelling is your usual go-to fragrances, I suggest you to stay away.

It does have some likenes to memo Memo Sicilian leather and Fahrenheit from Dior. Very much alike, but each one take diferrent routes as time passes by. Very nice stuff

Violet leaves at max. This is dominant violet leaves with some basil, oranges, and apple blossoms. Like a mineral water with violets leaves. Hmm... Meh!
