Mandarin Carnival

Big love. Very very effervescent, a bright and bubbly smell of mandarin, white musk, neroli, freesia, and likely ambroxan. I really can’t see how anyone could dislike this. Maybe you could say it’s “boring” but this doesn’t seem like they’re going for deep and complex, this is called Mandarine Carnival and that’s exactly what you get. They nailed it. Watery and transparent but still potent. The citrus dies down after a few hours but overall this lasts quite a while, at least 8 hours on skin. Reminds me of their My Pearls fragrance in that it smells like dryer sheets or fresh laundry at its core. Also similar to Acqua Di Parma’s Arancia Di Capri, minus the carmel note and more watery. Perfectly unisex, who wouldn’t like clean laundry and oranges. Bottle is beautiful.

Possibly my favourite citrus scent. Lovely presentation and Murano glass bottle in sea blue color holds a special juice. The scent of mandarine that lasts and lasts and does not draw food conclusion. It is the scent of mandarin plantation and the ripe fruits are eaten in the shade of the trees, some of them in bloom, still. It is refreshing, true to life, natural and perfect for summer. If only that. Always something bothers me in other citrus scents - either the citrus is just the top that vanishes into thin air after half an hour or the scent is too herbal and masculine or too rich and tiring with the juice sticky and overheated. This is just perfect. And the mandarin lasts thorough the entire durarion.

Instant LOVE! What a great fresh, citrusy perfume! It was on my wishlist for quite some time and my husband surprised me with this beauty for Christmas. This is the perfect orange scent with a nice twist added. It is timeless, youthful, rejuvenating and so smooth! Nothing sharp nor headache inducing here. I think it leans feminine, but a man could also wear this. I was on the hunt for a great citrusy scent and I am so happy to finally hit the jackpot with this. Not to mention the beautiful Murano glass.. the bottle itself is a piece of art!

This is a perfect summer scent! It's so fresh and juicy thanks to the mandarin and peach notes. The tamarind adds a bit of an unexpected twist that keeps it interesting. It's sweet but not overpowering, and the watery notes make it feel light and airy. I get compliments on it all the time.

Great citrus-centered scent! It actually keeps it's mandarin character with orange blossom support for at least 6 hours (which is rare, the fruity, citrusy notes usually last half an hour) before fading into softer version with water, rose and musk prominent. Super-likeable.

The juiciest mandarin, tart but sweet with a gentle woody base. Wonderful scent for spring and summer. It reminds me of holidays in Italy 🍊 and the bottle, like many by The Merchant of Venice, is a thing of beauty.

If Mandarino di Amalfi and Fleur Narcotique had a baby, this is it. Opening is very similar to Mandarino and the dry down hits on Fleur. Beautiful citrus, floral, slightly fruity and tart.

I like this one. I was expecting it to be bitter since some people say it smells like Sens by Diptyque, but it’s not bitter at all, and I don’t see the resemblance. I have a Sens travel size and I don’t like it. I got it as part of a travel-size set in case someone wants to buy it or swap it. This fragrance is sweet, juicy, and clean. The orange blossom doesn’t overpower at all; instead, it comes across as sweeter and more juicy. It doesn’t have anything spectacular that completely blows my mind, but I would love to wear this during the summer. It’s juicy, floral, sweet, and fruity, almost mainstream. it reminds me of Orange Crush Extrait de Parfum by Fugazzi which I would consider this one instead of Fugazzi. I feel like you could find something similar from a mainstream brand, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that this one is good. And the bottle design is so pretty.

This basically smells like orange peel. Or, maybe, the orange oil you use on furniture. It’s pleasant, but very linear. There’s not really much going on besides a strong kick of citrus. I’m inclined to believe the notes Ruggine has posted below over the ones shared by Fragrantica. There is definitely some petit grain and/or Neroli going on. I do not get any peach, rose, or bitter almond. My biggest issue with it is that it’s a skin scent that doesn’t really develop into anything else. On the dry down, it takes on a soapy/lotion-y quality but that’s about it. You could peel an actual mandarin and get the same effect. It’s the kind of scent I think I’d prefer as a linen spray or room freshener. On skin, it’s rather boring.

Like its name, it is a gentle and fresh scent with a large dose of sweet mandarin and orange blossom. You need to be a citrus fan to love it because the mandarin note is very, very clear and dominant. It is as fresh as if you really squeezed the mandarin itself. Longevity is very successful. The only problem is that the price is too high for such a solifruit fragrance

I can't help but like this, it's a mandarin smelling perfume, more of the red variety than the green. However (and this is a big 'However') I only like the opening of this fragrance. Once the volatility and zing of freshness have subsided it becomes more like shake n vac, a powdery orange smell. Not particularly appealing to me. Shame really.

I like this. The first spray evokes the scent of fresh mandarins. The dry-down is sweet and citrusy, not heavy or musky. It doesn’t quite smell edible, but it smells like sugar and orange peels. This is a candied fruit type of fragrance. It’s pleasant.

If you’re looking for a simple smooth citrus floral with zero rough edges, this is literally perfection. Nothing to add, nothing to remove... just perfect.

Summer vibes scent with peach and a lot of mandarin. I like it. Light and charming. Quiet scent. Daily wear frangrance but a bit too overpriced...

I bought this on a hot day in Venice after visiting The Merchant of Venice flagship store on the Campo San Fantin. I think I was caught up in the beauty of that historic shop (nothing has been changed inside since it was a pharmacy opened in the 1800's --if you haven't been it is well worth a look up on you-tube to peek at the shop) and I definitely was blinded by the beauty of the bottle, so I have no regrets. However, the smell now home? Well, I think on a hot day wandering the maze that is Venice, this citrus lead worked wonders. Standing on it's own later, the aquatic finish is not the best, but it will be a nice way to leave scent on the hand towels before company visits in my guest powder room.

Blend of citruses with an overpowering orange blossom note. White florals are in the center of this composition - bright and opulent. For a citrusy fragrance it is quite powerful! Not really my type of scent, unfortunately. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

This makes me think of a single mandarin wedge in a jug of stale water :/ It's not terrible, just very tame and bland, and definitely not at all what I associate with fun, colorful carnivals.

opening is quite sour but the mandarin and musk are more apparent after that. i would say the musk steals the spotlight even though i was hoping for the mandarin to be the most prominent

This was an impulse buy because I adored the bottle. Yes, that's a bad start. Especially since I almost never buy without trying a sample first. I am struggling to find the love. This opens with a spicy mandarin that's quite alright, a nice citrus with a tangy edge. But, the rose and the peach are just not working for me here, the rose especially does not enhance the mandarin, instead, I'm getting fabric softener/cheap room freshener. But I am willing to give this scent another half dozen chances - this could work outdoors on a hot summer day.

I'm not really familiar with how my skin reacts to certain notes, but I do agree that on me it smells like almost spoiled tangerine, it's not a fresh citrus fragrance for me. It's almost like you find an orange in your fruitbowl which you kinda forgot about, you turn it over and you see the dusty mold collecting on the bottom and you accidentally push your thumb through the rotten bit. Whatever's on your thumb now, that's what this smells like. Hope this helps, definitely trying this fragrance again later.

Another reviewer mentioned amber, actually I smell what seems for sure to be ambroxan. Possibly its just the blend of the cashmere wood, rose and mandarin in combo ... idk though, I feel like its all I can smell. Starts of citrusy with a light touch of soap. Turns into an ambroxanesque scent with a tiny, tiny touch of citrus and stays that way for hours and hours.

This is not a fresh citrus fragrance to me. The musk in the composition sadly turns it into a stale, almost spoiled tangerine smell. There’s no freshness here – it comes across as warm and unpleasant. On my skin, musk often behaves this way, adding a sweaty undertone that completely ruins the fragrance. A gorgeous bottle, but that’s where the positives end.

mandarin room freshner ....as often with this brand, a perfume disaster.

Mandarin Carnival by The Merchant of Venice is my favourite from this brand thus far. This is a stunning crisp, slightly sweet citrus fragrance that would be perfect for wear during Spring and Summer. The mandarin orange accord is the most dominant note in this composition, followed by hints of almond, orange blossom, peach, cashmere wood, and clean white musk. Although this is nothing unique, Mandarin Carnival is a wonderful fragrance and is something I would personally wear during the warmer months. Some reviewers have noted Mandarin Carnival's similarity to Mandarino di Amalfi by Tom Ford. Personally, I find Mandarino di Amalfi to be a lot richer in regards to the citrusy and green mandarin orange and orange blossom accords, whereas Mandarin Carnival is a lot sweeter and fresher on the skin. This fragrance unfortunately doesn't have great longevity, which is a fault of the brand itself. The projection is also very light, sitting quite intimately on the skin. In addition to the sweet, somewhat crisp mandarin orange, peach and orange blossom accords, the cashmere wood and bitter almond notes provide a smooth, almost powdery dimension to the scent's drydown. This is a crowd pleasing fragrance and one that both men and women will enjoy wearing, although it does admittedly lean a bit more to the feminine side. Had Mandarin Carnival been a lot cheaper, I may have considered adding this fragrance to my collection. I do enjoy a decent mandarin orange or orange blossom fragrance, so it was not a surprise that I did enjoy Mandarin Carnival. I have a lot of respect for the brand The Merchant of Venice, but as a niche fragrance house, I wish that their longevity and sillage was much better in terms of quality.

I do need to disclose that I blind bought this for the bottle. It is such a lovely bottle in a satin cushioned box. I just love looking at it. As far as the fragrance... it's light it's fresh and it is definitely mandarin! It's delicate it doesn't slap you in the face with citrus like Bond no 9 little Italy. It sort of reminds me of Clinique Happy and it really is very much like the body shop satsuma. This doesn't detract from my enjoyment when I wear it. It's a light lovely fresh scent. I find it has moderate sillage and well... it doesn't last too long, like 3 hours, but I don't mind re-applying. There is something about its freshness that puts me in a positive mood. Is it overpriced? Well... I bought it for the bottle.

i found this fragrance brand in one of the shops exclusively. i realized that it belongs to spa company! it's kind of interesting in away but not that mind capturing. this fragrance had the exact right name that walks along with the smell, Mandarin Carnival. allot of freshly peeled Tangerines with aquatic notes, it's exactly like the essence of your water only washed hands after eating fresh Tangerines in winter season. that as the top and semi middle note. now the middle to semi-base note, the rose note rise up a bit to soften the sharpness of aquatic tangerines, but still the most dominant note remains Tangerines with capital T. it is truly a carnival.

This smells amazing. I purchased due to the review below me by EDherRM as it was stated was similar to Fugazzi Orange Crush! This is better. Mandarin Carnival gets sweeter and sweeter on my skin. I am not sure if the notes on fragrantica are correct as the the packaging states: Italian Mandarin, Petitigrain, Neroli, Freesia, Blonde Woods, and Musk. Per Fragrantica, I don’t smell any almond notes. I do pick up petitigrain which I love: to me that smells like rain drops! Okay so this is a juicy scent that lasts. It is not overly sweet and is balanced the floral notes and musk. I feel grown and sexy when I wear this scent.

A juicy citrus tree in its entirety: you can smell the zest, the pulp, the seeds, and even the green leaves of a mandarin tree. The fragrance feels vivid and multidimensional, capturing not just a single note, but the whole tree. It creates the impression of stepping into the fragrant gardens of Semiramis, where citrus trees are surrounded by jasmine bushes and white flowers, filling the air with freshness and sunlight. The scent is bright, joyful and full of life. It feels natural and uplifting, radiating warmth and carefree energy. It truly lives up to its name.

Body Shop's Satsuma perfume in a fancy bottle. I love mandarin perfumes but glad I didn't blind buy Mandarin Carnival (beautiful name, Carnival). I smell a simple mandarine accord and clean, white musk, with very low sillage and longevity. The soapy drydown is fresh, pretty. However, I think I'll stick to the Body Shop's mandarin interpretation, as it's about 1/10 the price for almost the same thrill.

Candied mandarin and tamarind are the stars. Hints of the florals, namely freesia, sit in the background. After several hours it is a light musk. Joyful and playful a composition, like going to a Carnival, stored in a truly charming bottle. Wears well throughout the day. ✨

Love this. Starts out fresh green mandarin slightly bitter and just gets kinda sweet and pretty on the dry down. I swear I get cotton candy in the base but its not listed as a note. Some kind of pretty pink sweetness comes out. Always lifts my mood wearing this.

As a big citrus fan, I really like that sharp opening but almost immediately I get orange blossom, which sometimes smells like corn chips to me and then I can't think about anything else. I almost kept it just for the bottle but got a hold of myself.

To me this smells exactly like Fleur Narcotique. I have sprayed both of them in each arm and I can’t tell any difference between them.

At first it is too harsh and unpleasant. Maybe that ́s the tamarind? But then it softens and and I get a lovely citrussy smell.

The basic smell is a mandarin candy, joyful , very nice smell, carnivalian and feminine imo

I'd blind buy this for 20.00. The bottle is SO cute. The actual price....oh my....
