Bahar

First, let me say that it's not reminiscent of Megamare or an interpretation. Bahar was released 5 years before Megamare. Second, it's a very nice spring or summer fragrance. I don't get much citrus, despite that being a lot of the opening notes. I also don't get much aquatic notes. I get more fruity sweet. It's still a very nice fragrance. I get a similarity to Sospiro Basso or perhaps Contralto, or Boadicea's 1907 because I'm picking up more of a melony sweet fruity note. Longevity is good. On my skin, it's around 2 hours of good projection, another 2 of moderate projection as it's settling down to a skin scent, then another 3 to 4 as a skin scent.

If you want to smell like all your clothes have your initials stitched inside them and you have Centurion Concierge arrange all your travel... if "that" had an Endless Summer smell - Bahar would be it Bahar in the Spring and Summer is a quiet, luxurious olfactory statement. It improves as it moves from each stage and its base settles on the skin (+12 hours) and clothes (for days) in a masculine floral way If I ran into Roger Federer at the Wimbledon Rolex party, this is how I'd imagine he'd smell like A true perfect score: 100/100 Scent 10/10 Performance 12/10 Sillage 10/10 Uniqueness 10/10

Got a sample set from the house. This is the first one I tried. Its hot outside already. I do very much get megamarre (sp?) vibes from this. The opening of bahar is much more floral. Not in a bad way but in a refreshing breeze from the ocean while walking in a garden kind of way. That lasted for about 3 hours after which the florals die away and it's mostly a skin scent that's salty and ozonic. It's nice but I probably won't go for a full bottle. I have enough aquatic, ozonic scents at the moment. Glad I tried it though.

There are a lot of notes listed for this one however, if I focus in on only what I smell and not what is suggested I smell, I am getting a salty aquatic summery floral scent with a touch of wild honey. The honey smell is just enough to give that musky wild accord that is found in scents that feature honey prominently. I like this one quite a bit and it lasts a good long time. Glad to have it in my collection.

I only have a sample, and I like it! My daughter on the other side loves it! I put it on in the house on 2 different occasions and she kept asking me: What did you put on? You really smell so nice!! And I have lots of perfumes,she never was so excited about any of my perfumes :-)) so I gave her the sample, she is super happy, she is 14 years old! She has good taste for sure! And expensive taste lol!

This is nothing like Megamare or Blu Mare! Such a complex fragrance that gives and gives! Very difficult to smell the notes separately,there are a lot. A complex perfume with lots of fruity notes but it has that aquatic vibe in the background,you only need 2- 3 puffs max! In summer is phenomenal! I love it! I had a sample and now a full bottle!

It's really worth to purchase ...one of my best Arabian nicho scents I've tried ,Amber and Oud mixed with aquatic spicy and fruity notes which is not easy to cock in one juice. That makes the perfume remind me of alot of scents in each gradient of . In general Smell not that easy, so it's better to get sample before buying.

Black Russian below is venting bile, don't take him too seriously. He's obviously very bitter. It's sadly part of the fragrantica buffoonary that's all too common these days. On a different note, Bahar was released in 2015 while Megamare only appeared in 2019. Chronology is important when making comparisons.

This fragrance is AMAZING! It smells so fresh and clean, like a summer day at the beach. The citrus notes are really bright and uplifting, and they blend perfectly with the aquatic accords. It lasts all day on my skin, and I get compliments whenever I wear it.

Pretty strong stuff. I get citrus, flowers, and a touch of vanilla. I've once heard somebody describe this as smelling like urine/anamilistic, but I just think that was because of some of the flower combonations

I was gifted this Iv been trying with oud recently as everything is just boring me at the moment and colder weather is coming the only oud iv ever purchased is armani rose d'arabie and I have to been really in the mood to reach for it..a lot of ouds Iv tried have came off masculine very Smokey and or woody which is not me at all this is slightly masculine at first and the oud is just there but you need to give it around 30mins to settle it drys down and it’s gorgeous im somewhat addicted to it I find myself just spraying it to smell it this has the fresh aqua citrus notes they are prominent mixed with the spicy oud it’s the strangest thing Iv ever experienced in a perfume..I wouldn’t say it would clear a room it’s strong but fresh not like some ouds that are just Smokey wood it comes off a tad dirty at the start for the first hour or two but Iv been wearing it to bed for the last week and all I keep smelling is a really clean fresh bergamot scent like clean laundry it’s actually crazy it last through showers and I mean After 24hrs it’s still there lingering. I’m pleasantly surprised at these types of fragrances that the notes work so well together I’m considering layering this with something a little more feminine maybe vanilla or something violet I’m not sure if anyone has any suggestions let me know. If anyone is curious about how this smells it’s basically like viktor&rolfs spice bombs Rich Daddy with some smokiness it’s smoother and a lot fresher and not cloying

SOD fragrances seems to all have illustrious profiles that don’t shine as bright as I’d hope. This is good, but not as good as it looks. Watery, airy citrus bomb. Bedding is a mishmash of florals. Could do without the abrasive saffron and iris. VG nonetheless.

This Smells very similar to Insense Ultramarine by Givenchy but combined with a bit of Megamare, mainly the seaweed and musk aspect of it. It's pleasant but not worth the price.

I like RBalkris' comment, "A gallant if not entirely successful attempt to make a luxury aquatic fragrance". Everyone knows that aquatics are inexpensive to make, relying on synthetic aromachemicals like calone and dihydromercenol to achieve the watery clean qualities. Bleu de Chanel is even hard to justify at its price. So how do you make a niche aquatic? You have to add other things. This one has over 40 notes, some of them being accords probably made from multiples, like "spices", "ozonics" and "green notes". This one is pretty good, but doesn't really know what it wants to be when it grows up. At the opening, there is a lot of violet/violet leaf, calone and galoxide (with their fabric softener musk, cucumber and melon notes), a hefty dose of amber, a punch of lavender, a swipe of soap, and bits of cinnamon, cyclamen/lily, jasmine and pink pepper. Trying to be blue, floral, warm, vanillic and green at the same time is confusing. While not the same fragrance, this reminds me of Amouage Reflection, which shares the violet, aquatic, floral and amber combination. Amouage does it a bit better, but even that master house can't quite pull this off. This is too dense to be worn in the summer, too "clear" to be worn in the winter, too blue for autumn. Does this mean I don't like it? No, not at all. You can tell that the nose that put this together was good at his/her job. There is an elegance, a deft touch, that makes this somewhat admirable. And it should get some compliments. But in the sea of the 100,000 fragrances that Fragrantica lists in its database, this isn't going to place in the top 10%. If this was $35, it would probably get some love, but at $140 for 50ml, from a house without the marketing power of Dior or Chanel, this one is a faint blip on the radar screen, soon forgotten. If I had to compare this to something, Eau de Gray Flannel and Lagerfeld Bois de Cedre come to mind. I have owned and sold both of those, and neither of those cost more than $30. So while I appreciate the effort and intent, this one is a miss.

20-30% of Megamare, 70-80% of Spirit of Dubai parent company Nabeel cheap $6.99 (I used to buy them for $2.95 back in the days) roll on oils. Not a specific one but a mixture of half of all the oils they have. Failed pretence on sophistication. Just like presentations of all Spirit of Dubai offerings are failed attempts at luxury. From design itself to execution quality. Probably manually assembled by underqualified, overworked and underpaid imported workers from Bangladesh (true spirit of Dubai!). Quite typical for most Gulf States brands, but rest of them charging less than half of what SoD frags are sold at discount sites. Overall it's ok fragrance if not consider fact that it is overpriced. Performance is above average, though not as strong as reviews here suggest, and nowhere close to Megamare (or Lattafa Atlas). I see it full bottle worthy only for ladies who finds Megamare of Vertus Chaos too masculine and harsh, but want something of this type. Bahar is not only more feminine, but also much softer when sniffed upclose.

A gallant if not entirely successful attempt to make a luxury aquatic fragrance, this is a bit of a hit and a miss from this line of deluxe Oriental offerings. The perfume like all their offerings is stuffed with notes, which are too many to list. The opening is fruits and spices with ozonic notes. The heart is mostly floral with hints of woods. The perfume settles on a powdery woody Oriental base with strong hints of vetiver and immortelle. The unisex fragrance has moderate to strong projection and excellent longevity. Overall, a lesser offering from this line. Enjoy!

I just don’t get it? I mean it’s ok, salty, airy, but the scent isn’t anything to write home about. There is something in there that reminds me of Megamare... not that those two are alike, just something that makes me a bit nauseous. Don’t blind buy as it’s expensive but definitely not my cup of tea. Maybe I’ll try something else from this house, maybe I won’t.

I did a blind buy.... when I smell the cap, it's a nice perfume, something reminds me of Aqua Sapphire, it's pretty nice. But when I spray it on my skin... I can't smell it, nothing... only if I get my nose direct on my skin. Really don't know why. I asked my wife to check if I'm crazy or anything, she can't feel it too. I'm selling it

I was looking for a high performing freshie so I thought I'd give this a try... got a 5ml decant and worn it a few times.... Don't get me wrong, it has a heavenly scent (at first spray) .... unfortunately it's also saturated with this synthetic, harsh aquatic note which lingers forever and dominates in the dry down.... really a shame. If you like aquatic fragrances that often come off as metallic maybe you'd like this but for me it was a scrubber everytime I tried to like it. Having experienced this a few times now with other aquatics I just don't think it's my thing...

I find this perfume so cheap synthetic mess. I was so excited when I order this but it’s just not for me. All I smell is rose and citrus in an instial spay then it settles to musky which is ok. 3/10 for me. With all the notes I thought it would be close to xerjoff’s but na it’s not even close to them.

Its interesting that these Spirit of Dubai fragrances have house DNA that runs through them. Bahar opened to remind me of Turath and a few others, but with the fresher, aquatic, ozonic accords amped up in proportion in the huge note melange. It wasn't a bad opening, but it became apparent well into the drydown that it wasn't going to be good enough to be full bottle worthy. Those fresher accords come across as rather synthetic and surprisingly cheap. Nothing like the naturalness, or focused beauty, of the Classic Creed's such as EROLFA, Milliseme Imperial, and Silver Mountain Water. Its been a long time since I sniffed that thing called Invictus, but I think Bahar may be closer to it. But who knows, Turath grew on me to the point of buying a full bottle, so maybe Bahar will too. But I doubt it.

The only one from this line which I really liked. Literally I was buying 4 bottles one by one. I was enjoying the fragrance, it was really reminding me the sea. Beautiful, strong, arabic, but not heavy. The biggest plus point is that perfume is SUPER LONG STAYING. But then I purchased the 4th bottle in Dubai in their branded showroom. And it is not staying for more than 3 hours! That was such a big disappointment. I dunno what has been changed with the perfume, maybe it was fake or expired.

The one thing that is consistent for me with Spirit of Dubai is, I don't smell 95%+ of what is noted or intended and usualy get one or two aspects. This is a very straightforward fresh and oceanic fragrance. also, how would you be able to dispel the differences with Bitter Orange, Mandarin orange, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Plum, Raspberry, Strawberry, Cherry, BlackCurrant, Pineapple, Apple, and Coconut? Plus the 30 notes?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed as i lived my first 20 years in Dubai & by far it's the best place on earth , so I'm positive by God's well it will be a grate perfumes & by the way bottles design are awesome ! P.S. where are the NOTES ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Bahar is a generic aquatic fragrance that reminds me of 90s aquatic, L’Eau d’Issey Miyake Pour Homme immediately came to mind. It has Calone, ambroxan, an ozonic accord, a floral accord that kind of reminds me of Lotus. Very inferior compared to the others from the house.

@JuliaToothFairy - No offence but did you just randomly make that up? Bahar means sailor in Arabic and given the notes, being pretty marine and aquatic leaning, I'll lay my bets on the fact that is the name they were striving for to mirror those um accords!

Reminds me of a richer version of Osaito by Micallef, which I own and love. Gotta have to upgrade to this one as some point; pretty pricey though for 50ml.

This is just okay to me. It went on salty, citrus, vanilla and a sort of slightly sour whiff of oud then a sort of bandaid smell.

IMO this is full bottle worthy, especially if you can find a discount. Amazing for the summer.. can't stop smelling it.

Bahar ("Spring"), by The Spirit of Dubai, smells like ylang-ylang, lime and aquatic notes.

If you took Megamare, threw in a load of spices and various citruses; you'd have this.

Bahar means spring in both kurdish and arabic If you dont know dont guess

It smells chemically. Reminds me of 15 dollar typical TJ Maxx fragrance
