1987

I adore this scent. I couldn't remember what it reminded me of - except unapologetically of the late 80's. Then, today, I was wearing the OG Poison and realised - this is it! This is what it reminds me of! They are both big, bold fragrances that last with you through the day. There is volume to both, a boldness, they walk into the room before you do. It is brighter and lighter - if Poison is the seductive woman with red lips and a cigarette in hand, 1987 is the 16 year old sister waiting in the wings for her turn, looking on with admiration. This is not to say that this is a teenagers scent however. While fragrance is ageless, I feel like this is a scent that is best with some life experience behind it, maybe from someone who was born in 1987.

Florals aren't my thing but I've lost count of how many bottles of this Mrs Smokey has gone through. It's her #1 fragrance and I can, without fail, buy it for her at Xmas, every Xmas, without worry. She uses it as a thank you gift for people who need a special gift and that's been quite a few. It does remind me of a number of powerhouse ladies' perfumes from that era, so I would say conceptual execution succeeded, too.
