Musky Rose

Theodoros Kalotinis Musky Rose is a well-named blend that features rose at the scent but in which the rose is a bit obfuscated by musks, resins, and woods. It leans into the category of a floral fragrance that I would be inclined to recommend for someone who is typically averse to floral fragrances. In the typical formula, it’s a little sharper in the opening than in the dry down, but I don’t find there to be all that much evolution in it, which is good, because it’s really a pleasant blend, with touches of freshness and tartness but also subtler undertones of woods and musks. Overall, it’s quite nice and performs pretty well. It’s part of the Golden Secret Collection and is extrait concentration, with a price of 150 euros for 50ml. This line isn’t as much of a steal as the main EDP collection, priced at 45 euros for 50ml. 7 out of 10

Magnificent rose, sparkling, deep red, bright and softened by what could be the combination of tuberose (not showing up as a single note) and wood which gives it a mellowness of santal. I would almost say a rose-santal than the typical rose-musk. Reminds me to some extent also the juiciness of Rose de Petra de Stephane Humbert Lucas with less sharpness. Beautiful composition and thumbs up also for the pricing of the branch which is quality for very reasonable price (visibly it is possible to match both).

Dark red roses & oriental spices with a depth.. During the wear, I sometimes get wafts of soapy and sour accords. A mature rose. This scent feels aristocratic & somehow lyrical. An oily extract, projects moderate within an arms length + great longevity. I like the bottle, looks nice on my vanity.

This is a strong dislike. The opening smells like nail polish remover, then artificial musk and very old fashioned rose. I had to wash it off and I threw the sample away. I’m amazed at the high price too.

Well, I did not expect that smelling a perfume from Kalotinis and I would come across a Narciso musk! That's right surprising! Almost throughout its evolution, it seems that you wore For Her edp. After several hours, the musk disappears and the perfume becomes something else, a rose melted with olive leaves, creating an extremely lovely accord. And which, surprisingly , turns into the middle east kind of rose. I wish it was like this from the beginning, that is, without that animalic musk. Off topic: edp versus exdp I don't see any difference between edp and Kalotinis' extracts in terms of performance and appearance, but only in terms of prices. Exdp is extra expensive! 7/10
