Velvet Chocolate

I had this marked only as a "like" but I just upgraded that rating to a "love". So mad that I sold this! What an affordable gem. I decanted a few MLs before I sold my bottle and forgot about it. I guess that was about 8 months ago. I came across the decant today and wow...IDK if my nose changed or if the perfume benefitted from macerating but I love this!! Pure milk chocolate. Very simple. It smells nothing like Chocolate Queen IMO because that is a perfume-y type of chocolate. Chocolate Greedy leans more vanillic to my nose. Velvet Chocolate smells a bit like the new Lumi Dulce Fundamentum (one of my best buys of 2024). You really can't go wrong with Velvet Chocolate, especially for the price. I think a bit of maceration is exactly what this perfume needed to become this delicious thing that it is today. I sold it because it smelled sour and didn't have the best performance. It has done a total 180 and now I'm going to have to add a full bottle back to my collection. 💯

A true chocolate scent, not much else going on but that's what I wanted just straight chocolate. The closest comparison is chocolate greedy by montale but montale has an edge over this scent but on first sniff very similar I might confuse them if I didn't smell them side by side or wait for the dry down but chocolate greedy has a slight zing and undertone that this velvet chocolate doesn't have which makes it my favorite chocolate. BUT with that being said a normal person realistically doesn't need both, but I'm a huge lover of chocolate so I would still buy both lol. I love this velvet chocolate when I want ONLY chocolate smelling. I definitely recommend it and for the price sheshhhhhhhhhhhhh can't beat that! I can't decide if I find this unisex or slightly feminine leaning... I would love this on a man or woman tho as it's such a yummy hot chocolate milk!

The name Velvet Chocolate really suits this fragrance. At first blast I get this Nesquick like cacao powder. The kind you'd use to make instant hot chocolate. Ten seconds after that I start to get the chocolate itself, a mix between milk and dark, with the tonka bean. In the drydown I get vanilla but it all blends together to give a velvety, chewy texture to the whole thing. Have y'all ever had the triple chocolate cookie from Subway? This smells exactly how that cookie tastes, my mouth is watering writing this. I get about 7 hours of wear on skin and clothes with a little better than moderate projection. I can smell it for about 4 hours strongly before it dies down. All of this for €45?? Mr. Kalotinis, hats off to you. I only wish I'd bought a second because I'm already seeing a dent in this one and I'm scared😂

I love this fragrance. I have been on a search for the perfect chocolate fragrance, and so far I have a few, but most of them excluding Choco Musk, have a citrus note mixed in. Choco Musk is a good powdery milk chocolate, which I love....This on the other hand is just pure delicious, dark chocolate and I am def here for it. It's dark chocolate but not bitter dark chocolate. This has a sweetness to it....it's giving chocolate ganache vibes. Thick, decadent, and super edible. At 1st spray it smells photorealistic, and for the most part stays fairly linear throughout the dry down. The complete dry down it becomes more of a sweet, powdery chocolate...overall though this is my absolute favorite chocolate fragrance yet.

se rapproche de chocolate greedy mais sans le sucre. je préfère le montale car plus gourmand avec le sucre. ici nous avons une pure tablette de chocolat riche en cacao, très réaliste. je le mélangerai avec de la vanille pour avoir plus de sucré. très bien en automne mais pas d'énorme sillage ni de longue durée sur ma peau. mais c'est quand même un like. après quelques temps je trouve qu'il est plus qu'un like, je met un love, car odeur cacao treè réaliste et en fait j'aime tous les kalotinis que j'ai testé, de vraies oeuvres d'art à prix abordables comparativement aux autres parfums de niche. congratulations Kalotinis

At opening, the most rich decadent chocolate frosting (yes, it has that slight play-doh note at first but disappears quickly) that dries down into a warm, chocolate brownie/cake. It is so far the most realistic chocolate fragrance I have come across. Not necessarily the most complex but damn it smells delicious. The vanilla smooths out the cacao while the tonka bean adds depth and definition to the chocolate notes. Will definitely use to layer. TK fragrances can be hit or miss, but this one is a solid banger for me, and it does increase in performance with maturation.

Absolutely gorgerous! It is for sure - a fotorealistic chocolate scent! Its like brick of chocolate melted on your skin😁 It is deep, rich and addictive to smel. If you like chocolate it is absolutely for you. If you don’t like the idea of chocolate melting on your skin don’t buy it. But as a chocolate scent it is 10/10. For my nose it is pure chocolate and maybe a hints of vanilla. It is kinda abnormal since almost every chocolate scent has somekind of other dominate note in the background. But I really like it because of that pure chocolatenessss😜🤩

Sweet cocoa powder from start to end, not artificial smelling. I have it since 3 years and is now a powerhouse, lasting over 8 hours on skin. I use it mostly as a layering tool with patchouli and rose centered fragrances. It's very nice in combination with Vanilla skin, Bare Sueded Vanilla ans Sawaar Vanilla. One spritz is enough to keep the balance. 10/10

This reminds me of baking a dark chocolate cake, something semi-sweet like dark forest minus the cherries. The stages of the baking process from making the batter, pouring it, baking it in the oven and taking a bite while it’s still warm. If you’ve ever had a high end lava cake at a nice restaurant, that should give you an idea of the dry down.

Mouthwatering, smooth and rich hot chocolate in a bottle! Really sweet and intense, so you wouldn’t want to spray too much. Very realistic choc scent, I love that it hasn’t got any bitterness/sourness to it that other chocolate perfumes may have. A gourmand lover’s must have scent! Yummy 😋

I just tested Lush shower gel Posh Chocolate. I can say it's similar with this one. Delicious milk chocolate. But the dry down is too vanilla sweet for me and somehow I found funky fruit notes after 1- 2 hours. Still this is the photorealistic chocolate perfume I've ever smell.

A chewy, velvet-textured bar of chocolate. Opens up like Nesquik powder for the first 5 seconds then settles into something much more decadent. Great projection for the first 2-3 hours and detectable on skin for about 7-8 hours. For €45, this is a total steal!

Starts more like a Tootsie Roll kind of chocolate (cheap chocolate artificial flavor kind of thing) and ends up more like chocolate fudge on your skin. I prefer others for a good chocolate scent. But this is ok.

Chocolate syrup but dies down pretty quickly leaving just a cocoa scent.

Category: Chocolate, gourmand Notes: Sprays on smelling like a very luscious, sweet chocolate lava cake. It smells more like cacao than it does, say, a chocolate bar. With time the chocolate aspect mellows out into a dusty mix of cocoa and vanilla with some mildly tobacco-y nuances, likely from the tonka bean. With time that Tonka bean develops a green undertone, and after a few hours this lands in something almost musky. The overall scent impression starts out as a chocolate lava cake and develops into what I’d describe as a chocolate & vanilla scented deep conditioner. Vibe: Lava cake. Cruditées. Comforter. West Village, NY. Bronzer. Baking with your grandma. Volume. Casting call. Diet shake. Therapist's office. Dinner bell. Sillage: 5/10. Very middle of the road sillage, not quite a skin scent but no crazy projection either. Leans toward more intimate. Longevity: 7.5/10. Lasted me about 7 hours before at good strength, but could still detect it up to 9 hours after spraying it on, albeit faintly. Wear: Day or night, leaning day. Very much a fall and winter scent in my opinion, something about the decant nature of cocoa doesn't feel like it makes sense for spring or summer. Definitely a true unisex as it shows no marked lean in the direction of either masculine or feminine, that being said I think I'd appreciate this more on a man than I do myself. Appropriate age range would be anywhere from 20-60, although I ironically (for this being a sweeter gourmand which is typically seen as more youthful) see this most befitting for a man or woman in their 40s. Certainly office wear approved. Overall rating: 6/10. Nice and sweet without being sickly or overwhelming. A great alternative for those who love the smell of chocolate but love a more bitter cocoa. Like I said previously, I think this would work beautifully on a refined gentleman in his late 30s or 40s, as it exudes a soft and comforting vibe without feeling meek. While they are two completely different scents, I think this is a good option for those who tried Kilian’s Black Phantom and thought it was simply too sweet and too dusty. While it is a nice scent, I simply cannot see myself ever reaching for a fragrance like this - I can't think of any scenario where this would feel like it made sense on me. That being said, if you love chocolate I think it’s a must to at least sample Velvet Chocolate - it might very well be exactly what you're looking for. Who would wear it?: Michael B. Jordan.

Oh... the opening! Dark cocoa powder through and through... Not overly vanillic or not nutella-ish like Chocolate Greedy, not cinnamony like Tobacco Vanille, it's what the perfect, high-end bitter chocolate bar from heaven would smell like. You almost hear the crunchy snap one makes when breaking off a square. Immersive, that's what I would call the head notes in Velvet Coffee by Theodoros Kalotinis. Not overwhelming, just immersive. It's not sugary, nor linked to whatever some brands claim as "sexy" when referring to gourmands. The sweetness here is more than balanced by the raw bitterness of dark cocoa, and overall, I'd say it's an exercise in hyperrealism, not impressionism. Then the drydown comes, bringing a dry tobacco note that's not listed in the pyramid but that I feel is very prominent. This aspect makes it similar to Maison Tahitè Cacao Libertine (another interesting fragrance, though it strays away from a pure chocolate rendering with a more distracting patchouli twist). Fortunately this tobacco note does not overpower the chocolate at all, it just gives it more depth and a bit of character. It's a delicate balance though: I've noticed that the cooler the temperature the tamer the tobacco feels, while in warmer climates it may tend to emerge a bit more. It's not a smokey tobacco, more an herbal, aromatic one that leans toward vetiver and patchouli. Would I like it even more if the all-chocolate opening stayed through drydown? Maybe, because I'm a hopeless gourmand addict... But without the tobacco drydown this creation would just be a wonderfully realistic chocolate instead of a truly signature-worthy scent. Velvet Chocolate has a secure, sober energy that is really rare in chocolate fragrances.

I bought a decant of this and I did not expect it to be that good. Wow! This is a realistic, delicious, rich, cocoa heavy chocolate with a quite prominent Tonka Bean. It does have some compound that reminds me of a honeyish, leathery material. I think the leathery interior of a car that has been cleaned with furniture polish. That's what I get as well. Other than that, a real gourmand fragrance, really realistic and well done without being too sweet. This is edible but layered, or with the right skin chemistry, this can also be very sexy. I could imagine layering it with a boozy cherry or with a dark plum fragrance could be really great. Edit: After wearing it for a couple of days now, I still find it good. But it develops an off-putting note after wearing it for a couple of hours. There's a turn towards a slightly sour, stinky Vanilla at the end. Wearing this less than 4 hours, I really do feel the perfume, but the note that my skin develops after wearing it longer, let's me reconsider if I really would buy a full size.

Comes out of the bottle as a photorealistic dark chocolate pudding, the kind you would get at a starred restaurant that they’ve done as an ironic tribute to comfort food. It goes straight to your brain and activates all those chocolate reward buttons. After that comes a dry cocoa powder, and eventually some type of chocolate cake, but again a fancy one not Betty Crocker cake mix. This is such a cool fragrance for its accuracy and depth and deliciousness, but for me it’s too one note and just plain food-like to take seriously as a perfume. For layering though, * chefs kiss*. I tried it with Plum Harujuku and Amber Narguile and with both it added just that right something. It’s actually a perfect bottle to purchase for layering because it’s so well priced.

I didn’t believe that this could be so hyper realistic, but it is! A dark velvety chocolate that makes your mouth and fingers all sticky. I get a slight hint of something marzipan like, and something really sweet, and my Norwegian brain reads this a specific type of chocolate we have here. I have tried to google and see if there is anything English, American or other type of chocolate that I could describe it as, but looks like it is pretty unique. This is a chocolate with three layers, one of raspberry gel, one layer of marzipan, one with regular chocolate. And the chocolate bar itself is fully coated in dark chocolate and a light drizzle of chocolate powder. Whenever I smell my arm i feel my stomach growl at me, demanding some actual chocolate...

I was worried about this fragrance because I’m so picky with chocolate notes, but this is one of the better chocolates I’ve smelled! It’s deep, decadent, and quite powdery, smelling similar to a hot chocolate powder, but it does have a bit of a play doh facet to my nose which thankfully fades within an hour. It’s sweet but not cloying at all. I don’t get any tonka, but I do get the tiniest hint of vanilla. I probably won’t be wearing it on its own, but I’m excited to layer it with other frangrances! It has moderate sillage and lasts all day. I saw that this was compared to Montale Chocolate Greedy and while I can see a resemblance on the drydown, Chocolate Greedy quickly develops a strangely bready note on my skin.

A molten ribbon of Nutella spilled into bakery air, decadent and photorealistic, wrapping everything in a nutty veil of cocoa richness. The first hit is indulgence itself—pure velvet, creamy and lush, an impossibly smooth chocolate fantasy. But then it shifts subtly but distinctly. On skin, it pulls darker, deeper, into bittersweet pure chocolate tempered with vanilla bean, just bitter enough, kissed by the faintest spice. However, there’s a faint perfumey powder note sneaking in, a soft powdery breath that makes it feel more like a memory of chocolate than the thing itself. The ghost of cocoa mingling with skin warmth, delicious effervescence but a bit less dessert-tasty and more perfume-edible.

Sampling Theodoros Kalotinis Velvet Chocolate, a 2022 release and smooth, not overly sweet, a bit dry chocolate blend, a bit of cocoa powder and a bit of tootsie roll, confection-adjacent while not being as sugary. Definitely a good mix of sumptuous, interesting, and not being too intense in any one particular way, a perfume that I think gourmand lovers should welcome. As with much of the line, this is EDP concentration and very reasonably priced at $55 for 50ml, sold in the US exclusively via Luckyscent, as best I know. It performs reasonably well and the value and quality are both quite high, particularly considering the very modest pricing. 7 out of 10

This is a realistic and delicious chocolate scent. It’s not a simple bar of milk or dark chocolate but Tootsie Roll-like or chocolate with a gooey, thick, and indulgent quality. It opens with a very slight chocolate booziness which quickly dissipates, and follows with flavours of caramel, cocoa powder, vanilla, and some floral honey in the dry down. There is something in this that reminds me of dried saliva. Hopefully, future batches are reformulated to fix this!

This fragrance is a beautiful, cozy, photorealistic dark hot chocolate fudge sauce ! I wouldn't say its very milky at all, and it is not realistic to a bar of chocolate. It dries down to more of a cocoa powdery sort of scent which is lovely. The sillage is beautiful on this, longevity is pretty decent in my opinion. It would be way too much for hot weather, but in the cooler months would be amazing!

One of the chocolate perfumes I like, but lacks some depth and longevity for me. It smells like cocoa powder mixed with water (and for some reason it turns a bit sour) and a tiny bit of liquor for richness. Comforting and also not too sweet. However I wish this was a milky chocolate goodness with a bit more oomph (??) as I often find myself wanting more whenever I spray this on.

If you think chocolate greedy smells way too sweet then this might be a better option. It's a very realistic, powdery vanilla and dark chocolate. And while it is sweet, the bitterness of the dark chocolate doesn't make it cloyingly sweet. I love it! The only minus is the longevity, it stays on my skin for approximately 4 hours on me. Projects moderately.

Definitely a rich, fudge-textured chocolate, like a brownie. There are no other notes competing so you just get the sweet, dense, thick, chocolate scent in the opening and immediate. The performance isn't bad so far, but will wait to see how it wears. As it settles, it reminds me a little of Profumum Roma Sorriso but less perfumey, more gourmand.

This is a realistic chocolate milk scent that only seems to get better and more intoxicating on my skin as the hours progress. A new and actually unexpected favourite of mine. (Unexpected in the sense that I didn’t know I would love chocolate in a fragrance this much). Great blind buy; also got Coffee Addict, which too is a winner.

I mean this parfume is good but not really. The sillage is maybe like for 2-3 hours good and then it’s nothing , you can’t even smell on the shirt if you spray on it too. The Performance is for me about 4-5 hours. Some people told me they like it, some of them told me they don’t. Idk if you should buy it. Maybe sample it at first.

Velvet Chocolate was one of my first ever Chocolate fragrance, I loved the dry down, I always thought it had a green note. It’s so good at first spray, then it gets softer and that green note I love just makes it different than so many others.. love it.. I wear it year round , of course I over spray..

To my nose a linear photorealistic straight forward chocolate scent. It smells similar to hot chocolate. For longevity, chocolate greedy by Montale but I prefer this one as it smells better. Paired with chocomusk oil from Al rehab (not the spray but the oil) it's great for clothes. Good scent.

Mmmm this scent is yummy. To me, it smells like a mix of fudgy brownie and tootsie rolls. Very rich and edible. The richness fades quickly though, and the scent itself is short lived. This would be a love if only the chocolatey notes lasted a bit longer.

I wish I like this much more. I can smell a cocoa or cocoa cream cheese? No vanilla for my nose. Maybe it is good for layering. I tried IT with Bianko Latte (sooo sweet combo) and Carolina Herrera Good girl 😂 (killing combo).

This is a really nice dark, velvety chocolate scent. I wouldn’t call this very sweet, but I do get the smallest hint of vanilla. Probably wouldn’t purchase a full bottle because it’s not sweet enough for my personal taste.

It smells deep and intense, good cacao and chocolate. It impregns body and clothes and last for ages. However it has an also strong vanilla/tonka base that I dislike. Not for discreet people. Really cheap for the quality.

this smells like chocolate but the tonka bean is quite strong and kind of makes it not FBW for me. It would be more realistic without it, almost gives it a dried apricot undertone somehow...

The cacao plays an important role in this one. If I tried to describe it differently it's similar to dark chocolate with dried raspberries or cherry jelly but very refined.

It's delicious chocolate that for some reason smells floral to me here and there... If I don't think about it I am just immersed in a world of smooth chocolate ganache.

The most photorealistic true chocolate scent I have tried yet! I just wish it was a bit sweeter and more like milk chocolate instead of darker chocolate.

Smells like brownies. Lasts about six hours if you are lucky. If you want to smell like chocolate, this is a good choice, and pretty affordable.

Aww I really wanted to love this but it falls short of the comforting indulgent velvety chocolate scent I was earning for :( There is something green, earthy & dare I say minty fresh that clashes to my nose. So I investigated & come to find out, my arch nemesis patchouli is the cause of my distress. I’m not a fan of patchouli at all. The ingredients taken directly from Theodoros Kalotinis‘s website state: ALCOHOL DENAT, PARFUM, POGOSTEMON CABLIN LEAF EXTRACT. Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Extract is an extract of the leaves of the patchouli which I can sense overwhelmingly. It gives it TM’s Angel with a strong dose of chocolate vibes. Such a shame. My search for the perfect chocolate continues... *sighs

I am big fan of coffee addict, its one of my favourite perfume of all time so I naturally thought that this one with chocolate note would be the same. Unfortunately, its not. It might be my skin chemistry but on me it does open like dark chocolate which then transform to more milky chocolate but its not pleasant. There is some note behind it, something green (even if its not listed) like flowery scent pr perhaps patchouli?! For me its nauseting. I gave it to my niece. Coffee addict is still masterpiece for me.

i wish i liked this. most perfumes with cacao/chocolate notes just automatically smell very stale & old on me! this kinda reminds me of those easy bake chocolate cake packets you’d get at a supermarket? the ones with it all pre-made. this smells slightly like when it’s in the oven, but it just dries quite bitter on me. not a huge fan of how this smells on my skin :( the longevity & projection are good though! kept getting whiffs of it throughout the day, lasted around 7 hours.
