Goldleaf

I was introduced to Thymes in the early 1990s, when Goldleaf was called Goldleaf and Hydrangea. It is beautiful - a true tapestry - and the similarity to Norell is there in the beginning. With the oakmoss issues in recent years, I wrote Thymes and they assured me they use a kind of oakmoss that is not restricted. I love how you can enjoy this fragrance in everything from room spray, candles, all the way to parfum. Boutiques carry this one, but it's just as easy to order online. I now have the rollerball parfum, which is around $20. The lotions and bath gel are each under $6. A great way to try these scents without spending too much. Thymes has excellent customer service and will send samples. BTW, I'm not affiliated with this company in any way. Just love to find excellent CS these days.

I got the Thymes sample lotion bag, and they are very generous with them. They include just about every fragrance in there. This one is my favorite of all of them for personal wear. It is a very feminine, classy fragrance, and the white florals aren't overpowering, blended very well. I was a bit worried after seeing some of the "people who like this also like" perfumes, as I dislike a lot of those on me. This one, however, smells very good with my body chemistry, and I plan on purchasing the perfume and body products as well now.

This is a lovely scent! Goldleaf smells fresh, clean, a little spicy, a little flowery, a little musky. My nose loves it all! Other people must love it too because Goldleaf garners compliments. Can be worn day or night. Another thing I would say is don't go overboard when applying the perfume. This Eau de Parfum is available at Thymes.com, or you can find it at various retailers. My local garden store carries this line. I think all of the Thymes products are top notch. Goldleaf is a classy scent!

Bought a small roll-on version of this at duty-free while travelling...have to say it certainly went beyond my expectations. It is indeed very golden, like its namesake. The florals all blend together to create a very heavy, luxurious scent. I didn't get too much green notes with this one. When I rolled it onto my wrist, there was a burst of Jasmine and LOTV. It was really fresh, but it oiled down to hyacinth and quickly turned to a musky rose. Very heady, and for some reason, also smelled very aldehydic...the scent of this one is reminiscent of "old school" perfumes. Very heavy and definitely pronounced. Not a "polite" scent, but definitely very rich. I wear this when I want to feel powerfully feminine, or for night time galas and the like.

First impressions: Oh wow! this might be the exact soap that my classy grandmom has had in her bathroom. I got the travel size bottle of this and this is already giving me nostalgia. For the record my grand mom is 101 years old, but even at 90 she isn’t your average grandmom. She is very much a glama. Usually people would complain that their grandmother house smells old, but my grandmother’s house always smelled impeccable. Edit 1: I’m still in love with this. Picture a lux hotel soap. It’s a complex soap and it’s absolutely comforting to me. I think my mother used to have a perfume like this that was called molinard de molinard. I don’t think this would be my signature scent since it’s too calming for me, and reminds me of childhood. Edit 2: This might've been my mother’s favorite type of scent when I was growing up. It's a very mature old school soapy type of scent. I'm gonna downgrade this to a like because it's a type of scent that is too nostalgic for me. It's not really for me per se, maybe it can be for someone else. Edit 3: Ouch I sprayed this thinking oh this is old school aldehydes. No one is going to take offense to this. Well, apperently this is unequivocally an unweilding STRONG perfume. I thought the formula would change because real oak moss is illegal to use in high percentages. Verdict: pass- it does give off a room spray vibe, and to me this isn’t my ultimate “hug in a bottle” perfume. It’s still pretty good though!

This is decently sweet, fresh, spicy, aromatic floral and the name fits it perfectly. It has a green smell with a gorgeous yellow (not white) floral packed with yummy spices and a fresh medicinal quality. I detect no rose at all. Goldleaf is a proper name for this composition. The notes I pick up here are usually elements I love in a fragrance so purchased cheaply on a blind buy but cannot say it smells cheap. It smells luxurious and of good quality. Thymes Goldleaf does have a very fresh, springy, rich smell that is compelling and I like it a lot. The only problem is it is not a scent I want on my skin. It seems more fitting as a very elegant room spray so I disliked it above based on that alone. The scent IS pretty, pretty! .... for a ROOM one would love to smell beautiful. I have a very hard time imagining what type of woman's skin this would smell right on. I can't. Either way, it is not for me as a skin fragrance so I will delightfully use it in my home and enjoy it that way. For the price, I am not disappointed to now own a lovely home fragrance spray, an expensive room spray even at a cheap price but I think worth it. :)

This is a powerful vintage, something like L'air du Temps, type a scent. Grandmother perfume. Strong brash white/yellow floral, jasmine and oakmoss. Very cloying. I got a sample because I like hyacinth and lily of the valley notes, however I do not detect them at all. Strong, strong vintage. If you're into it, check this out. Priced well, and it has a punch. Lots of fresh air needed. That being said I can see this smelling decent on some.

I did not like this one at all. It smells very synthetic and heavy to me.

Goldleaf is a recent acquisition for me, recommended to me by our members Leesee and Chat Lunatique. I started with the foaming bath powder and bodycream, which is rich and very moisturizing, in addition to having a divine fragrance that can stand on its own. I loved them both and had to get the matching perfume. The EDP is available in a 10 ml roller bottle, in addition to the larger spray bottle. The lotion and perfume layered on the skin last a good 10+ hours on me, with decent sillage throughout. Goldleaf is a cheerful chypre floral, lots of jasmine with musk and a lovely oakmoss very detectible in the dry-down. They don't make chypre floral scents like this one anymore. Thank goodness they still make this one and it is so affordable, too. I have tried a lot of chypres/chypre florals and can't think of any other scents that smell quite like it. The floral notes remind me of Norell a bit, but the dry-down is less green and has a very old-school aroma. Chypre fans of either sex: you will find it worth your while to seek this one out. It's a bargain at any price but it would be a downright shame to miss it when it is priced so well.

What the first spray gives you...is what you get. This is a green chypre/floral/...that is linear IMO. The dry-down is very nice....but getting to the dry down is not easy for my nose. It comes off a tad cloying during the wear. It is sort of "old fashioned" in it's formulation, again, IMO. I like the scent,but do not love it.There are other scents in my collection that have these notes and this "idea" that I prefer way more.

Ladies who love Goldleaf! Here's a question: Did this perfume/body lotion once-upon-a-time have an Egyptian symbol on its packaging, in shiny gold lettering against a white background? I've been searching for this product for over 20 years and just realized it might have been put out by Thymes. Thank you for your response, if you know anything about it.

This was my late mother's signature scent, so it will always be beautiful in my eyes. It personifies a simple elegance and class to me. It's one of the rare scents that seems appropriate for any season or setting. Fresh, classy and beautiful.

this perfume is out of this world. all i have currently except eau des mervilles, 24fabourgh and la perla i can trade away for just having this gem.so so rich and elagand and voluptious and just awe-inspiring.

A very pleasant, "pretty" fragrance in a cute little Estee Lauder-esque bottle. Lasts a good while, too. If you're into pleasant, clean white florals, check this one out.
