Spirito Fiorentino

Tiziana Terenzi Spirito Fiorentino opens with a strong projection of pleasant citrus and floral accords. The saffron in this fragrance is the most prominent note and it brings a rich floral, vanilla, honey-like accord that blends very well with the orange. The lily and jasmine add their notes to the opening, but let the saffron and orange lead the way. In just a moment the ylang-ylang joins the blend adding its sweet, slightly woody banana-like accord, giving to the fragrance a more fruity character; the magnolia and lily-of-the-valley are shy but contributes with their soft floral and slightly green accords. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP and Extrait feature saffron, ambergris, and woods, both great fragrances; Mancera Gold Intensitive Aoud brings woody, saffron, musky and floral notes, but leans to the feminine side; Mancera Instant Crush features saffron, amber, powdery and woody accords and it is fantastic. SUMMARY: A sweet saffron, and ambergris fragrance with woody, floral, earthy, musky, and soft leather accords. I tried BR 540 Extrait ages ago and was slightly disappointed and very perplexed. It smelled so thin and simple on me, and seemed to fade within minutes, which I found appalling given the price. Hours later, though, my boyfriend remarked out of the blue on how good I smelled. I was baffled; it seemed I had become anosmic to the fragrance at lightning speed, which is pretty unusual for me. The following day, I donned the same jacket I'd worn the day prior and was instantly enveloped in a cloud of almond-saffron sweetness. The jacket hadn't even come into direct contact with my skin or the fragrance, yet there it was, almost as though I'd just sprayed it. Ever since, I'd been looking for a good dupe, as I still wasn't willing to drop so much on such a straightforward, synthetic fragrance (not that this smells artificial in any way; I just couldn't stomach such a huge retail markup given the ubiquity of the main aromamolecule). I tried Kosmala's Après L'Amour, Alexandria's Interplay, Ariana Grande's Cloud, and Terenzi's Spirito Fiorentino. This one was by far my favorite. Cloud was a bit weak, Après L'Amour was actually a tad too strong, Interplay was the closest to the Extrait, and this was the ideal strength for me with just enough difference that it's actually an elevated form of the original. Like BR 540, the core of Spirito Fiorentino is that delicious, utterly luminous and translucently pairing of sweet almond and airy saffron, which is given form and gentle heft through the slightest touch of musky-salty ambergris. Here, though, there's more dimension at the beginning and in the middle: a hint of creamy jasmine, something borderline leathery (almost suede-like), the brightness of juicy orange, some effervescent white and yellow florals, and some milky woods at the bottom. I personally don't detect any oakmoss or lily of the valley, and many of the florals and woods are so diaphanous and well-blended that I can't really distinguish them. And in the drydown, everything disappears but the almond, saffron, and a wisp of white musk. I've never really understood reviews that mention a burnt or caramelized sugar note in either the original BR 540 EdP, the Extrait, or their olfactory relatives, but then again, I don't really trust my nose around them, as they seem to befuddle it. All I get is a deceptively uncluttered, atmospherically nectarous (but not syrupy) fragrant veil that is imminently wearable and incredibly welcoming: a feather with the density of a neutron star, a hug from the crush that never liked you back. All of that comes through beautifully in Spirito Fiorentino. It's a just so unfussy, a total pleasure to wear, especially compared to these atrocious sticky-sugar gourmands that are all the rage right now. I honestly think it works in any season or weather, and is totally genderless. I would say that it's slightly more on the casual side, and many will find it redundant and possibly even irksome given how popular its fragrance family has grown. If you're in need of a mood boost or just want to smell good, though, I really don't see how you can go wrong here. It projects magnificently and lasts forever. The one downside is the bottle: like many of Terenzi's, it looks cheap, is unwieldy to maneuver, and the bottle-to-cap proportions are strange. On the whole, though, SP is definitely a good investment, especially if you can find it discounted (and you're still going to save a ton of money substituting this for BR).

Let me start by saying that I do own decants of BR 540 parfum and extrait, Instant Crush, Greenwich Village, Spirito Fiorentino and full bottle of Kalan. I sprayed each of these on my arms daily to compare for many times just to be very sure of what I am reviewing. My verdict is out of all these that I have mentioned, Spirito Fiorentino is seriously without doubt the closest to BR 540! I really love the smell of BR 540 when sniffing up close on my arms but I just simply could not smell it on myself. It is indeed frustrating when I am going to pay such high price just to let others appreciate! WTF! Perfume should also be smell and appreciated by the wearer isn't it? Now coming to Spirito Fiorentino, this is definitely going to let the wearer smell the scent for sure. I would say in general it is about 90% similar. It is deeper and more intense. Enough said. Just to share abit about the others that I have mentioned. Instant Crush is truly beautiful and last really really long. It has only a slight vibe to BR 540. Smooth and elegant. Kalan is sharp at first but dries down to be much smoother. Also only a slight vibe to BR 540. It last very long too. Greenwich Village is very very powdery. In fact I have the highest expectation for this. It also has that slight vibe to BR 540 but because it smells so powdery, I feel its more to feminine. However, Its truly a solid fragrance. All these are worth collecting and are not redundant if you own all of them.

So I’ve been looking at a new fragrance house to get into. Searching Neimans I came across what I would say is a great BR540 extrait substitute. There are a few Tiziana Terenzi fragrances I want to try on skin but I had to grab this from max aroma for $160 because at that price I’d never think to get BR extrait again. I have a few decants of BR extrait and this is almost a 1 of 1. Needless to say for $160 I have no problem sliding this into my daily rotation. Sprayed 1 spray in hand 4-5 hrs ago in store and it’s still going strong. Hopefully my bottle has the same performance. Update So I received my bottle a few days later. Granted my testing was in 100 degree Texas weather. The first few day’s performance was horrible. Was getting about 5 hrs longevity. After about a week or so and tinkering with the amount of sprays I’ve found that for good performance 7-9 sprays is ideal for my use also after a week or two performance did increase. Getting about 7-8 hrs of longevity now. Scent trail is that similar to baccarat rouge. A few days ago 3 hrs after application one of the office managers at my apartment walked behind me literally 20ft behind me and as I walked back to hold a door open for her all she could say is my god you smell so good. I’m letting the bottle sit for a few more weeks and we’ll test again when the weather cools down.

Wow - this is definitely similar to BR540 - around 90%! There are some notable differences though: 1) It's smokier throughout, which must be the birchwood/ leather / ambergris combo, and this gives me an incense vibe. 2) There is a medicinal quality in the opening, but you quickly get past this. 3) The longevity is even beastlier than BR540 - i could still smell this on my skin 24 hours later!! 4) There is no 'molecule' quality to this fragrance (if you are familiar with BR540 you will know what I mean), therefore the projection characteristics are different 5) Value for money is.... better than MFK, due to the longevity / bottle size / discount offers available. Obviously, it depends on whether you enjoy the smokier scent or not. I still think this fragrance is unisex (I'm female and LOVE it). I'm still getting the same woody vibes as BR540, and there is a similar sweetness, perhaps slightly less. Overall, I bought it and now I have both!! Do you need both? Probably not. I will keep the BR540 for ultra special occasions due to the price point :D

I can see why people compare this to BR 540, but it really isn’t the same at all. It has some similar notes is all. But unlike BR 540, this also has leather and florals. In fact, this is possibly the most stunning take on a soft dark leather that I think I’ve ever put my nose on. It’s exquisite. The bottles are classy and the fragrance is sophisticated and modern, yet with stylings befitting the artisans of royal antiquity, just like it’s name suggests. While it does lean just a tad feminine to my nose, it is definitely sitting solidly in the unisex fragrance category. Anyone could pull this off, unless of course they don’t care for the smell of exquisite leather, since it is front and center here. A virtual trip to Italia. This is my favourite and probably only leather perfume I would wear. The leather is delicious, addicting and well balanced - not bitter, nor sweet... Just very neutral. Also smells like dry paper/books, but in the best way possible, more like an impression than an actual scent. Hard to describe, what would be best occasion to wear it, probably any! Has something similar to BR540, but not too much, as I am not a fan of BR540, but love Spirito Fiorentino :) probably it is the saffron. It is hard to imagine what to layer it with, so I did not bother much. Only tried one combo, but it was a great success: Mendittorosa - North. It brings more complexity, warmth, coziness to the scent. They are very compatible with each other and together smell like leather-dried fruits, as they get some slight sweetness and even sourness. The longevity and spillage could be stronger for such scent profile, but it is still pretty good.

I fell in love with Spirito Fiorentino. It's not an everyday fragrance and it's not made for everyone. It's a particular scent, made by a one of a kind nose. At first sniff, I was thrown off and I thought it was horrible. That's when I was a bit immature with parfums and my nose wasn't refined. 6 months later after deep diving into different scents, their notes, researching what I like and don't like, smelling and realizing what quality niche Parfums are...I came back to Fiorentino. It was so creamy, leathery, lily, musky, with a punch. This is boss status. This is meet me where the money resides. This is I have on my suit and I'm sexy. This is I am everything and I'm just blessing you with my presence. How else do I say it....its everything okay! As a woman it makes you feel powerful and you command the room. I can also see a man wearing this, it is truly unisex.

This fragrance is basically what I've been looking for my whole life. I'm a huge fan of spicy scents, mainly peppery scents and when this dries down it's the perfect amount of spice. The opening is a transparent airy leather. Imagine taking a fresh leather jacket, soaking it in a tub of water. The leftover gray water from the black leather is what I would imagine this to smell like. A watered down leather so to speak. The dry down is soooo invigorating and peppery spice. Not masculine or feminine. A perfect unisex. A complex scent that goes from a watery leather, to a rubbery smell, then a mildly sweet, woody spice. If you're a woman into florals, you may want to stay away from this. If you only wear french tip nails, you may want to turn the other cheek. This is for the lady or man in black who smirks, not smiles.

I get a ton of saffron, a little leather, alot of amber, along with sandalwood & oakmoss. Doesnt have the weightless, transparent feel that BR540 has. Im not a bottle person at all, but one of the commenters here said the bottle looks cheap. This bottle looks anything but cheap. It looks exponentially better than most fragrance bottles look, and from what I recall these caps are gold plated with 1 gram of gold. Thats hardly what I'd consider cheap. But people's reviews would lead one to believe that this is some ultra complex scent, that requires an ultra advanced fragrance palate to appreciate. But this is actually just a beautifully done, considerably more masculine verson of BR540. This is luxurious and addictive smelling in my opinion.

This is one of those fragrances you simply need to try for yourself. Even the most accurate explanation of its notes would, i feel, completely fail to accurately convey what is going on. Yes it plays in a similar ballpark as br540 as has been mentioned ad nauseum, but not really, this is so much more interesting and risqué. If br540 is the attractive, confident, polite and much loved individual, this is that same person who one evening, uncharacteristically gets completely loose at a party, wakes up remembering nothing but is surrounded by a trashed house, a throbbing headache and is wearing a full length gimp bodysuit

I really like this one. Starts out astringent with the smell of lacquer and varnish. Like the synthetic oud accord found is some fragrances. But this has a bit more class and has the essence of fine leather. Throw in the saffron, ethyl maltol, ambergris; candy flossy smell. With the sweetness subdued a little. Add birch tar. It's well constructed and takes a journey. I thought the candy floss would ruin it. But the other notes really balances it out. I get okay performance going easy on the trigger. Easy on the trigger. It's loud at first. A quick spritz brings the intensity back once it starts fading.

Spirito Fiorentino is the chic, old money Italian cousin to Byredo's insanely loud, bold Mixed Emotions. As a proud Leo, this amazing red and gold old world seal bottle design gives me life when I see it each morning. Opening: luxury Napa leather Middle: dark smoked berries Drydown: simmering berries on a smouldering fire I do not think this smells like BR540 Extrait at all. If you're on the hunt for a dupe to BR540 Extrait, then try Al Haramain Amber Oud Ruby EDP (closest dupe in my opinion) and/or ARMAF Club Nuit Untold EDP (more masculine rendition with insane projection and silage).

I love that the leather note in this is what you'd smell in a fancy department store in the handbag section or wherever else there are a lot of leather goods displayed. That's the best leather note IMO: when it smells like a new leather product. Sometimes the leather note in more masculine scents smell a little too authentic. Kinda rubbery or oily smelling. I never thought anything could top BR540. Ever. But y'all... Spirito Fiorentino is better. The performance is what takes it over the top. And to me, the leather makes it smell richer or more expensive than it's sister scent.

Slowly but surely Spirito Fiorentino has become my numero uno from the house of Tiziana Terenzi. I am on my second bottle and it won't be the last. I can see why so many people find the resemblance between SF and BR540. For me it is similar to BR540 but MORE. It opens with the heavy smoky medicinal birch note. After some minutes it calms down but be sure that it will stay with you until the dry-down. The scent is heavy on saffron, leather and wood. Not at all sweet - dry and earthy. Despite all the comparisons to MFK I find it very unique and recognizable. True love for me

My god this stuff is incredible. Ambergris, birch, saffron and leather. A little sweet, leathery like soft suede, salty like warm sand.. it’s delicious and it’s unique. It makes me feel incredible. That being said I totally get the bandaid thing, in the same way I understand the play doh thing with hypnotic poison. But I still adore hypnotic poison. And I cannot praise Spirito Fiorentino enough. The longevity is a 9/10, this is the first fragrance I’ve owned that Inwas able to smell myself all day. It’s amazing. Sillage 9/10 All seasons Unisex

Piyux has done an excellent job at reviewing this fragrance & I agree with the assessment. However, I would just like to add that initially I get a weird aldehyde scent in the opening. It does go away during the dry down but it's not a note that I particularly love. At first I thought maybe I received a bad bottle but luckily my sister has the same perfume. I was able to compare it with hers & can say I get the same note in the opening. I may need more time with it..... Edit: I love this! It is what I would expect BR450 should’ve been to me.

Ok.. so this is BR540 twin brother who is using steroids, actually even abusing steroids. They both smell the same (like 95%). You cant tell them apart in the air. However where BR540 is smooth and delicate, this one is beastly but all rough around the edges once smelled up close. The saffron note is amplified and takes over the first 10 minutes then mellows down to become closer and closer to BR540 as time progresses. I own them both and i think it is very redundant to have them together. I still prefer the craftsmanship of MFK over this.

Fantastic quality, longevity, projection, silage, it's BR vibe but better, pumped with leather and smoky haze, very lightly sweet, in a way of candied orange way in the background, but fresh at the same time. Elegant and light, very present all around and you can feel it as well. Only 1-2 spritzes, and that's a lot. Price wise, totally worth for it's beauty and quality. Some aspects of it reminded me of a wooden apothecary cabinet in the house of my grandparents, and a room with a leather sofas, wooden furniture and biblioteque.

If anyone wants to give their cap from the bottle would appreciate it. I bought a tested bottle from a discounter online for cheaper but I LOVE the pretty cap. My IG: chrisdmts. The perfume is very sensual for me and animalic. Much more depth that character than Baccarat rouge Extrait. First sprays didn’t last long or smelled the same as the tester at Neiman Marcus but should get better in a few weeks with maceration. Because the tester lasted for 5-6hrs atleast

Mix BR540 with TF Ombre Leather= Spirito Fiorentino =Heaven! Longevity is at par with BR540 I get easily 12-14 hrs. The leather note is smooth begins pungent to my nose, almost gasoline vine but after 15 minutes it turns in to a creamy suede, I believe it’s because of the saffron and ambergris begins to take the front row. Overall a great scent at a great price per Ml compared to other niche houses that have lost their ground.

I personally LOVE this work of art.i don't understand all the haters... For those who admire BR540..this is that, but deeper n darker, using a strong smokey birch note which you either love or hate. I love it ❤❤❤ Keep in mind this comes from someone who owns BR540 which I indeed adore, I say though, owning both is not redundant..because that birch note brings the BR540 dna to a different dimesion.

From the opening, I get sandalwood, leather and BR540 for sure. It's a more refined scent for sure. As BR is very sweet, this is more elegant and can be dressed up or worn casually. Definitely more alluring than 540. I get more compliments and questions about this than I ever did 540 so I sold it because this is just better. It dries down so smooth as well. Get this, you won't be disappointed.

It's like layering Casamorati's Lira with Rosendo Mateu 5. Gorgeous! The opening has this soft yet noticeable powdery warm vibe as RM5. Then there's a more caramel-ish reminiscent of Lira phase. The drydown is very leathery RM5-style. I own them all now and I feel so good! But really, if you own either RM5 or this one, skip purchasing the other. The resemblance is uncanny.

This is an underrated masculine masterpiece. It is really a more masculine, BR 540. More projection and absolutely stunning. It is captivating and luxurious but clearly not unique. Scent only, this is a saffron leathery amber that is ideal for fall and winter and is more masculine than most. Projection is massive and sillage is legendary. 9/10

This fragrance gets quite a bit of hate but I really love it.. I don't get any medicinal smell from it. To me it's like BR540 + some burnt scent which I suppose is leather and woods. I really like the twist and will take this any time over BR540. performance is above average for me .. nothing special.. but I very much love the scent.

Yes this has the BR540 saffron note but it goes way off in a different direction with it. It's like BR540 but made much more masculine. It's leathery and you get the ambergris. Don't know if it's actually ambergris or a synthetic but it smells damn good and lasts a long time. This one and Caput Mundi are my top two from the house.

I can really smell leather, there is so much depth and sex appeal in this fragrance which makes me love it even more. It projects elegance, smoothness and confidence. It's definitely a mature fragrance and you need to know how to wear it and when to wear it and if you do, wow you're lucky to be the most complimented person ever :)

This is incredible. Imagine you were in a field on a mountain top surrounded by galloping horses doused in BR540. That's the experience of this perfume. It's as if you're smelling the fragrance from within and there is a spring breeze whisping ozonated air throughout it. It's a fresh, crispy yet soft, dry, elevated BR540.

I've got my bottle, scent is very good (way better and more natural than instant crush which is very synthetic) longevity is also very good on my dry skin . +10 hrs. But projection is moderate even after 15 sprays my friend told me he's smelling something calm and not strong. I wish it was better priced

Combination of notes is perfect. I do not like Baccat Rouge, as it it too intense for me. But this is something similar but more softer version. Musk and leather takes the lead on my skin and it feels very sexy and spicy. Very good choice for evening and winter period.

A saffron bomb 💣. Great frag. The saffron gives off a leathery vibe and the oakmoss vibe keeps it fresh. Some compare it to BR540, but I think it's kinda different and does its own thing. I still need to get my nose on some other offerings from this house. 😃

Sex in a bottle! It smells very similar to BR540, but better. I love the leather note in here. It gives it a slightly masculine vibe with a little edge. This smells sexual. Crazy compliment getter.

Another good quality dupe for Baccarat Rouge 540 clone. Agree this leans very female. It's very bright and strong. As BR540 gurl this is perfect for me to add as an alternative for my love Br540.

I love this bc of its longevity. It has a similar vibe to BR540--saffron, ambergris, musk, etc. I do not get any of the sweetness that I get from BR540.

If you are looking for an ultra masculine version of B540 this is it. The best way I could describe this is Tom Ford Ombre Leather 540 haha.

It is Baccarat Rouge 540 with the difference that you can smell it and feel its presence on you.

This is not even close to BR540, SF is 100% better, in all matters, especially in performance !

Haven't try 540, but this is unique with a long lasting power.

My blindest buy. Was just looking for fragrance to buy and stumbled upon this and just bought it for the hell of it. My very first Terenzi fragrance. After buying it, I came to read the reviews. And... Yes, the reviews are fairly accurate. However, I bought BR540 EXTRAIT and not sure what EDP version smells like. Albeit I’m sure it’s similar. FANTASTIC presentation. Comes with two different bottle cap variations and it feels like you’re opening an apple product. I sprayed my left hand and... yes, you are IMMEDIATELY hit by that BR540 scent. I do love BR540 (extrait) so I’d say it’s quite lovely. However, shortly after that BR note, you get bombarded with that Oud For Greatness note. Not sure what it is. But that’s kind of all I smell now. 80% OFG, 15% BR, 5% leather. And yes, this smell will remind you of the dentists office. I do enjoy it and think it’s a fantastic fragrance. Would I have bought it had I smelled it before? Most likely not. I did buy it off discounters for about $150. Not too expensive. Should YOU blind buy it? Well... if you don’t own BR540 or OFG. I’d say go ahead and get this. It’s not too expensive and does smell pretty good. Although, I can feel a headache starting to form. I just sprayed this on. If it changes at all in coming hours, I’ll post it later. However, I’m fairly certain it has climaxed and won’t be deviating much from where it is now. Lasting power? Even though I just sprayed this, I again am fairly certain this thing has some staying power.

I have this for just over a year and the scent completely transformed over that time. All I get now is a leathery/plastic/medicinal type scent (think of a leather bag wrapped in freshly manufactured plastic) with little to no sweet notes. When I first unsealed the bottle I got the BR540 notes mixed with leather/woods and a small hint of those plastic/medicinal notes. Don't know what happened because I store all my fragrances as instructed and expiry is 30M from opening. I'll keep it a while longer to see if it'll change again. I love leather scents so I don't mind keeping it, I just can't deal with the plastic/medicinal scent. Update - I tried layering with Ombre Leather and Voice of the Snake both of which smelt divine. These layering combos definitely bring out the best of each fragrance especially the sweetness that disappeared and I started to miss so much. I think I'll keep it and will definitely get a second bottle when it's done. Don't let it settle without use for too long. I did for 3 months or so and I'm certain that's why I thought the liquid went bad and got a punch in the face plastic/medicinal scent.

Welp, I like it but it’s not everything I hoped it to be. A masculine leaning BR540? Yes please! What I really get is a very medicinal, rubbery, saffron boosted leather. Not bad by any means! I just feel like these notes are stacked on the BR540 vibe and it maybe could be blended a bit better, at least to my nose. One thing I’ll say is that the leather notes are really nice. It’s like a really freshly produced leather purse, belt, wallet, etc. Likewise, the saffron is really nice as well. But alas, I had to wait about 2-3 hours for the sweet BR540 notes to come through and at that point the projection had dwindled considerably. The two reviews below mine sum this fragrance up really well. Again, not a bad fragrance by any means! I think what I’m realizing is that I just really want a bottle of BR540 and my wallet ain’t ready to pull the trigger. Masculine leaning but certainly unisex. Longevity is moderate to good. Projection is moderate to good. Good stuff, just not what I was hoping for :/

KARAHO! Opens with an explosion of wild notes which are very confusing. Others have mentioned shoe glue, pencil shavings, iodine, dentist's office... It is like smelling the bubbles of a sparkling cocktail. Really impossible to describe, but that explains why no one here agrees on that. After the storm calms down, the ambergris starts glowing. A sea scented muskiness, a sandy mineral. Different from an animalic musk, but gives a similar feeling. An olfactory UMAMI, a richness that teases your nose. And since ambergris seems to have some off putting scent, which some can feel as "whale puke", the supporting notes try to disguise this unpleasantness. Projection and sillage go from moderate to above average. Good performance that lasts several hours, but will not fill the room. The ambergris ebbs and flows. A very mysterious fragrance, not for mainstream crowds, NOT a blind buy, too eccentric. Like blue cheese: not for everyone
