Wirtaner

First off, this is not a screamer like many Paolo Terenzi fragrances. I blind bought this based on an interview with Paolo who said it smells like Christmas. I cant say that it smells like my type of Christmases but it is a lovely journey perfumes that is great for any occasion or season. It starts off, the first 2 hours with something that is reminiscent of oud satin/silk mood- not a clone but simply reminiscent of that vibe of light pleasant oud. I also get glimpses of a warm cup of tea. Then after a couple hours I get a light caramel scent last but it is also quite subtle, and it is not a sticky caramel. Everything about this creation shows a deft and masterful hand in blending. Safe office scent which is a rarity when it comes to Terenzi. It is also a perfume that I could put on when I am not sure what I am in the mood for because it is versatile and doesn't require a certain mood. This is quite special, and I am so glad this blind buy was a successful one. Even though it is a subtle, skin scent (at least on my skin) it does last at least 8 hours. For those who are apprehensive of oud, I think this might be one to try to dip your toe in without feeling challenged at all. @jezeleah, yes, I can see the sweet pencil shavings at times-- might not sound attractive but you are right when you say in a good way... agreed!!

Presented beneath a gorgeous royal red glass flacon embedded with a golden shield is Wirtanen by Tiziana Terenzi, symbolizing the birth of a new olfactive masterpiece, this exuberant creation carries the same mystery of the Wirtanen Comet, a rare cosmic phenomenon that never quite let astronomers get a good look at it. Opening on incandescent top notes of ylang ylang and velvety roses lifted by the fresh essence of bergamot, Wirtanen commands attention capturing the everlasting brightness of a star spotted in the dark sky. The narcotic floral introduction with exhilarating fruity nuances gives way to a luxurious heart merging the golden essence of ylang with the radiance of peony and the sweetness of jasmine, driving the shimmering oriental into a deep and sensuous base highlighting a blend of ouds from the regions of Cambodia and Laos drenched in the mouthwatering essence of caramel, vanilla and amber. Truth be told, it is nearly impossible to wear this gem without feeling a bit more regal yourself.

Late winter edit: cooler weather has deepened the sweetness. Vanilla and a non- sickening caramel add a candied nuance to the woods and the rosey tones stand out more but it’s still an airy and elegant woody number. So nice. For me it’s very similar on opening to Armani Prive Oud Royal - gorgeous woody and elegant but in an airy style. There’s a fruity/floral feel behind the wood that is illusive never taking over but gives interest. We’re just coming into autumn so I’ll spend more time with this sample but I’m very much enjoying it from first test.

Seductive oriental abstract scent. Its woody, sweet and clean smelling. Has a regal vibe to it, like an expensive lady in Dubai. You cant easily pinpoint a certain note but the result is just a sexy smelling scent. Strong performer and lasts long time. I love it.

The most seductive fragrance I have ever smelled.

I own quite a few rose-oud fragrances, so there is some aesthetic fatigue at this point. I bought this one a long time ago but never really spent time with it. After wearing it for several days, I finally noticed what sets it apart. In this category, the usual structure is oud first, with rose layered on top and some spices or resins added to deepen the oriental character. Wirtanen, however, takes a different approach. Instead of placing oud at the front, it lets the florals introduce the scent. At the opening, rose and ylang-ylang are the most noticeable. The rose is soft and slightly sweet, while the ylang-ylang rounds out the composition and adds a faint creamy tone. Bergamot is listed in the notes, but it is almost imperceptible. The opening overall feels like a polished floral veil rather than the smoky or medicinal start common in many oud fragrances. After some time, the oud begins to emerge. Its presence is clear but the texture is relatively gentle, without heavy smokiness. Because of this, the rose is not overshadowed. Instead, the florals and woods layer together, creating the impression of flowers wrapped around wood rather than oud dominating the rose. The drydown becomes more conventional: caramel, vanilla, and sandalwood form a warm sweetness over a woody base, creating a familiar “warm sweet woods” effect. There is a slight twist in the structure, though not dramatically so. Overall it is still a very solid rose-oud fragrance. Longevity and projection are within a normal range.

A dense Floriental from the always over the top line, this is like a most decadent dessert overflowing with gourmand ingredients. The perfume opens with a dense citrusy floral vibe with notes of ylang-ylang, rose and bergamot. The heavy heart is mostly Oud but also has generous overdoses of jasmine, peony, and pepper. The perfume settles on a powdery base of vanilla, amber, sandalwood and caramel. All good notes and ingredients but completely overstuffed feminine leaning scent with enormous projection and longevity and excellent sillage. Enjoy!

Fragrance like this has been done a thousand times (regardless of who copied whom); it's hard to be truly original or unique, so most of the time we can only judged how good (subjectively) it smells and by the quality of ingredients/blend—with the standard set by precious natural ingredients. With that said, this is moderately natural & smells pretty good...Is it worth the price? No, but cut it in half and we may consider 😉

I'm pretty bored by this one. It actually smells a LOT of Angel with sandalwood, but somehow is less complex, less interesting. I really don't see any scenario in which I would reach for this.

This is not really a review per se. I ordered a full bottle in a hurry, thinking it was a different TT fragrance. The bottles are virtually identical and I didn't read the description fully. It's my fault, and I accept responsibility. Of course it's non-returnable. It's only been sprayed once, which is how I know this is definitely NOT a fragrance for me. It smells like rosemary and something vaguely floral. I'm not getting ANY vanilla, caramel, or fruity notes from this at all. I'll happily resell it at a fair price. 303 The opening is wonderful, like an herbal, evergreen, winter wassail spiced fruit punch(without alcohol, just fruit juices, spices, fresh fruit), or maybe glogg syrup. Unfortunately I began to smell a medicine cabinet soon thereafter, think band-aids, iodine, as soon as the lovely opening went away(which was fast). That medical/ antiseptic smell was very strong too and nauseating. It’s primarily masculine. 2/10-lovely opening, terrible dry-down. I would buy a bottle if all of it smelled like the opening aroma, spiced fruit punch...

Awful. I would not suggest blind buying. I wouldn't want to smell like this and wouldn't want to be around someone who does. I don't even know what I'm smelling. Just what I assume is crazy heavy sandalwood. Can't scrub this off fast enough.

This perfume is light and creamy. Like fruit gelato. It’s mouthwatering, but isn’t sour or sugary. It’s not the usual thick complex Terenzi, but feels watercolor. Leans in gourmand territory - like an elegant young girl with a beautiful smile, sitting outside in a cafe on a warm Tuscan spring day and enjoying osmanthus creamsicle melting over caramel sauce, and somewhere in the air you can smell the acacia, warmed by the sun. Wirtaner/Wirtanen (I notice that both are valid releases) reminds me of Ferragamo’s Signorina Eleganza, but creamier and Boadicea Empire, but lighter and has some aspects of Fleur Narcotic and black Platinum 06. It’s versatile (works with shorts) and happy (works for sports and casual day with friends), but it’s somewhat elegant (you can wear it with dress - lunch with your date, but it’s not dressy) and it’s sensuous (it melts into the skin and is very approachable). Its longevity isn’t annoying and allows you to change into something else for the evening. If you enjoy Killian’s GGGB and Sospiro Dolce Melodia type of scents, but they are too sweet for you - sample Wirtaner. If you like Memo Tamarindo and Signorina Eleganza or even Coco Mademoiselle, but you don’t like patchouli - try Wirtaner. Note to self: Love to sharpen it with a smidgen of Nishane Shem or sweeten it with PMC Ylang-Ylang Nosy Be ———— My review is for a bottle (like many of the ones uploaded here) - written WirnaneN (rather than later bottles with WirtaneR). Well, framorena, then please enlighten us: What fragrance does Wirtanen remind you of? While I certainly agree that Mr. Terenzi (like so many others) makes his own versions of popular fragrances, he also creates just as many truly novel fragrances. And let's be honest, what fragrance house doesn't get inspired by their competitors? Aventus, for example, is "copied" to this day by even the most distinguished niche houses. I personally love that, because we get to smell so many great variations of a familiar theme, everyone puts their own spin on it. And, let's be REAL honest here, this copying of fragrance ideas has been done even back in the 1920s and earlier, because, guess what? Jacques Guerlain shamelessly copied François Coty's formulas, and he even improved them. Mitsouko (1919) was inspired by Chypre (1917), L'Heure Bleue (1912) by L'Origan (1905) and Shalimar (1925) by Emeraude (1921). If smelled side by side, it's almost shocking how similar these are. Coincidence? No! So calm down everyone, copying each others formulas has been done for over 100 years in the perfume industry now, and as we see with Guerlain, we should be glad that's the case!

This is the kind of fragrance one dies for. This is another woody floral musk scent that is not just another woody scent but is flooded with the superb rose, bergamot and ylang- ylang which then settles to the heart made up of pepper, oud, jasmine and peony and later the dry down is mostly of amber, caramel and sandalwood backed up strongly with vanilla. If you are a fan of vanilla-based scents like me. Damn, grab it before it stocks out. This is royal, this is gorgeous, this is purely an olfactive masterpiece and totally an experience rather than just a fragrance. Longevity is eternal just like other Terenzi scents and the silage is enormous. This makes one feel regal, bold, confident and totally a different personality. Natural ingredients incorporated in this beauty makes it smell lots of natural and pretty precious. All good notes in this one is well blended and I found the feminine notes a bit more overstuffed in this scent compared to any other having similar king of notes. Plus, the beastly performance makes it outshines. <3

This fragrance is a beauty! BR540 meets Delina exclusif, topped with Sweet pencil shavings -in a good way! In other words, hard to describe. It is quite underrated. That may be because fragrantica has the name wrong. It is called Wirtanen! I love it! Full bottle worthy! Update: I changed my mind about a full bottle because it really is quite sweet. Also, for the price point it would have to be mind blowing. It's a really good fragrance though.

If you think that some fragrance is unique...think twice! Terenzi is amazing! His fragrances are very well made.
