ᴇ́ʟᴀɴ ᴠɪᴛᴀʟ ᴠᴇʀᴛ

I got this one in a sample set a couple of years ago. I was fairly new to the world of fragrances and thought this was a really weird green herbal perfume. I carried that in mind and was not looking forward to the day I was going to test it out for real and actually write a review for it. But here I am, and I am not afraid. The first spritz is sweet, herbal and fresh, and a fruitiness soon gives way. The pomelo gives a slight citrus that compliments the composition very well. I love sage, and that is very prominent during the whole wear. The narcissus is probably the star of the show. It gives a hay-like quality and together with the vetiver it is an almost vibrating green freshness. But it is never dry! The other notes make it bursting with green notes, reminding you of a dewy spring day. I can almost smell green apple in this one, and it reminds me slightly of ‘Gorseland’ by Jorum Studio. Absinthe is not something I am very familiar with, so I cannot really answer to if this is an absinthe forward scent or not, but from what I’m reading it is supposed to smell like anise? If I really try to smell it, I guess I could, but it hidden (or well blended) in the other herbal aspects of the fragrance. The longevity and sillage is great considering this smell like a light fresh perfume, though, the pomelo disappears after an hour or two. But the herbal sage (and anise?) stays on with the vetiver. It’s a very unisex vibe, and I could see myself wearing this spring, summer and fall!

Very photorealistic absinthe, which is amazing for those looking for it! I didn’t like the first 20 minutes of the opening, it felt very heavy and - to me - smelled like old coffee grounds that lost their intensity. However, after letting it sit it became more pleasant, you can smell the absinthe and sage, which have an earthy, bitter atmosphere

A salad! the opening smelled like very fresh salad leaves tossed with an herbal vinaigrette dressing. Very green indeed. Salad is quickly gone, though, and the herbs persist. The composition quietens and settles down as a fresh absinthe note dominates the dry down. I liked the journey although it is not my kind of fragrance in the end.

🌿Peculiar Pharmacy 🌿 I stand before a shelf full of glass jars with herbs. The air is thick with the scent of dill, wormwood and sage - sharp, herbal, like from old pharmacies. Absinthe hits first - bitter, aniseed-like, cutting through everything else. Pomelo adds tart freshness, but quickly gives way to herbal bitterness. Strangely, a note of coconut breaks through this herbal chaos - creamy, sweet, completely out of place. You either love it or run away. There's no middle ground. @the.scent.files
