French Kiss

Lovely little perfume smells exactly like my grandma's shabby chic bathroom I remember so fondly as a child. A bathroom in an apartment that had not been renovated likely since it was built (probably around the 50's) with a door separating the shower and toilet from the long vanity countertop with a shelf above it that had cut crystal plastic sliding doors that I would always get stuck. She had a leopard print rug lining the floor and the occasional art piece of sultry women's legs emerging from luxurious bubble baths and the "I Love Lucy" Vitameatavegamin framed still. She had decades old French soaps atop her vanity given to her by her ex-husband which she refused to use other than to display. I believe tuberose, mandarin, and gardenia were some of the scents she had. Smelling this in the little antique French-inspired perfumery in my town, my sole reason for being there being to try to recreate the ambience of her bathroom, I immediately made the association. I got home and sprayed it on my sheer lace shower curtain and I am a child, sitting atop her bathroom counter and smelling her little pink French soaps again. That's my grandma!

From the opening this smells like French orange candies, luxury French soap and the refined smell of upmarket department stores. It has a sherbet like citrus and crisp white florals that feels both cool and tart. I don’t understand what other people smell from the negative comments below. It’s very pretty and floral - and the name suits it beautifully. It’s original, interesting and just what I like as a floral fragrance enthusiast. ❤️

Ok the review by EnglishCountry really make me smile. I totally get the taste of bile analogy and I have to agree. But I like French Kiss nonetheless because its got a uniqueness and a boldness that is very French. On me the vetiver is strong and the orange (moldy or not!) is very well blended with the floral. I am not always in the mood for it but when I am, nothing else will do.

I was put off by it at first, but it's grown on me and 20 minutes later I'm compulsively sniffing my wrist. The smell is getting stronger the longer I wear it and the more it warms up, and I'm enjoying it. It reminds me of a high end gardenia and orange soap. The sort of smell you get in a gift set from someone who is trying to impress you but doesn't know you very well. I don't usually like soapy but I'm a huge fan of gardenia and orange, so this is really working for me. Not as overwhelming as I'd expect from a scent with white floral first in the accords and tuberose first in the notes, but it is a stronger scent. I wouldn't call it an OL scent myself, but if Betty White hugged me and smelled like this I wouldn't be surprised. Citrus, floral, and soap without being a clean or freshie scent.

I think there's something wrong with me because this smells like viks vaporub right out of the bottle. It dose eventually mellow out into a really nice woody floral scent, to me it smells like wooden beads soaked in floral essential oils. It's very warm on the nose and I found it relaxing. I don't tend to like floral scents, but I like this one as it's nostalgic for me, and I like that it's a masculine scent with a feminine edge. The strong viks smell at the front does make this a bit difficult to wear, I could feel a menthol chill running into my nostrils for at least 30 minutes after applying. But at least my sinuses where cleared out so I could appreciate the dry down later.

I tried this today, and I won't be purchasing it. It has a sharp, masculine edge to it that does not appeal to me, nor does it smell good on me. It's a nice scent, particularly as it softens and powders up a bit in the drydown; but the vetiver is too heavy. This fragrance does not conjure up images of romance, kissing, or anything French, for me. I wouldn't mind if my living room smelled like this perfume, but it's not something I want to smell on my skin.

I finally figured out what French Kiss reminds me of. It's in the same vein as Chanel Coco Mademoiselle! French Kiss is sweeter and simpler, but it has the same sort of structure. Super sweet mandarin orange (the strongest note) and slightly creamy white flowers (sweet sweet sweet, not sharp or heady) blended with grounding, deep, slightly spicy vetiver. When I tested it, it had major sillage and decent lasting power.

This is a sweet, floral fruity perfume bursting with juicy mandarin and sweet florals along a backdrop of vetiver. It reminds me a lot of Fresh Sake EDP minus the ginger, lotus, and rice. There isn't any sharpness or powderiness to French Kiss, making this an extremely sweet sensory experience. As it dries down, French Kiss smells alarmingly similar to Sake - so similar that I can hardly tell them apart.

my birthday perfume this year! i cannot believe how many people hate this LOL it is my favorite grandma-esque perfume. i think the mandarin is pulling its weight here, i am an eternal gardenia lover, and no it does NOT smell like cat litter. i think this is a great bedtime perfume or daytime topped with a brighter white floral.

This is definitely an old-fashioned perfume with vetiver, tuberose, and musk. I find it powdery and rich with very good longevity on my skin. The orange comes out as it wears, at least for me. I feel really put together when I wear this perfume and my partner likes it. I'll be buying another bottle when mine runs out.

When I first put it on my boyfriend said it smelled like aftershave, I think the vetiver was the most prominent at first. Later it smelled more pretty as the florals warmed up. I can definitely smell the gardenia and tuberose. I like this scent but I'm not sure how often I will wear it honestly.

This fragrance leans much more towards the woody/citrus/aromatic (in that order) than the floral- I really don't smell the tuberose or gardenia at all-The longevity and potency is great- This is a really nice scent for the late summer/early fall transitional season.-

To me it smells just like Deci Dela. I like it!

I didn't get the masculine edge or unpleasant kitty litter scent others seemed to get with this one. It starts out as a strong, slightly sharp citrus for the first hour or so before the white florals give it a bit of sweetness- that's all they do on me though; the florals sweeten the citrus without really coming into their own. I agree with those that said it smells a like downy/detergent. I ended up mixing it with honey and the moon (which on its own is a bit too powdery for me) and i like the result better than either on its own. If you have something a bit more powdery or sweeter than you like, then it will work pretty nicely to tone down the sharpness of the citrus here.

Does not smell like lavender or cat litter box, smells like stremely sweet white flowers, I'm keeping g for cold weather, I do not want to wear it now in summer.

I got this one in my ipsy glam bag plus. This scent is kind of meh to me. I can't really pick out tuberose or gardenia but they've created this sort of mutant flower that combines the two in the scent. Definitely get a white floral at least. It's a warm, floral, synthetic sort of musk. You might like this if you are a cashmere musk sort of girl. Jason thought it smelt like dryer sheets and thinks it's sort of masculine. Again, if you like warm musks you might like it. I don't think the florals stand out enough on their own. I think if you wanted to specifically smell any of these notes like gardenia then you would be disappointed.

I want to like Tokyo Milk fragrances, but only a few are tolerable for me (Honey and the Moon, Tainted Love). This brand has whimsical and exciting names and notes that romantically inspire, but often leave a lot of be desired in execution. In this case, I was expecting the mandarin and vetiver to balance out the florals, to create something refreshing and fun. But, it is a predominantly floral scent with a too sweet artificial orange candy in the background. I don't get French, I don't get Kiss. Pass.

Not a huge fan of this one compared to the other Tokyo Milk fragrances in my collection: Le Petit, Honey and the Moon, Let Them Eat Cake, and Kabuki. I agree with other reviewers (and probably should have listened before blind buying) but this one is too masculine for me. Perhaps its due to the overpowering vetiver it comes off much soapier than the sweet mandarin scent I was hoping for. A nice scent for those Chanel fans but not for me.

Definitely not for me. My first impression was that it smelled bitter and a bit masculine. It's definitely a strong scent, maybe like something people would spray in a closet or bathroom to mask oders. The vetiver and mandarin orange are overpowering. It may improve as it wears on, though I'm not sure because all I can smell is the blast of wood and citrus.

This review is based on a decant I received, tested on my inner wrist: This heavily reminds me of the pink Johnson & Johnson's baby wash (at least, what I remember of it after 20+ years). I agree with the reviewers who say it smells like a synthetic household product. Very feminine in my opinion, incredibly strong - use sparingly!

All I can get out of this, from initial top notes to drydown, is laundry detergent / dryer sheets. If you want to smell like you rubbed Downy all over yourself, this is the perfect perfume for you. I literally cannot smell any of the notes listed for this perfume.

Hmmmm This smells like lipstick or plastic or something synthetic. It’s def not masculine to my nose. Much too sweet for a mans scent. The sweet floral I get is probably why im not a fan. I have placed it in my trade slot (notebook tab) if anyone is interested.

It's not great. It smells like artificial unripe orange; a very sharp citrus with some vetiver on the back end. It also doesn't last as long or project as well as other scents from the same Curiosite collection. Overall disappointment.

This is very strong and long lasting- going on 7 hours with an attempted wash off that only did so much. There is a note in this that stands out that is similar to Gucci Rush that really doesn't get along with me.

Not personally a fan of this type of white floral profile - paired with musky vetiver. For lack of a better description, it made me think instantly of “old lady” perfume. Heavy and floral.

I got this perfume in my ipsy bag last month. It smells overwhelmingly like a cat's dirty litterbox that someone - unsuccessfully - tried to mask the odor of with lavender deodorant spray! I'm surprised that lavender is not listed as a fragrance note in this perfume. Absolutely terrible in every way; there are no redeeming qualities in this stench. It completely and whole-heartedly belongs in my "Hate" category.

My least favorite perfume, maybe ever. Heavy-handed floral with sharp vetiver. Nauseating.

French kiss... has a masculine opening, as has been indicated in droves of reviews. It settles quickly into a more unisex scent, but still it leans masculine. I find it a little surprising, because I used to wear vetiver oil solo. I think the culprit is the orange-vetiver accord. Not mandarin, orange. Orange pith, in fact. I think if the orange were dropped or replaced, it would work much better. It’s a powerful scent. When I smell the single spray I put on a cloth, it leaves a soapy perfume flavor in my mouth. I have looked at so many tuberose perfumes lately in pursuit of a unique and unisex blend. Many of the reviews about these fragrances indicate that finding a men’s tuberose led fragrance is damn near impossible. French kiss is a masculine tuberose. I have found the unicorn.

The first time I wore this, on a hot day, I thought it was sweet and innocent, like sharing a decadent sugary French dessert with school friends. Today it smells sultry and feminine, with a bit of an oriental vibe, as if I am enjoying that dessert at a fancy party with visiting royalty. This scent definitely changes over time and due to body heat. I find it a very feminine scent on me, although it does smell more unisex and spicy for the first few minutes of wear when the vetyver dominates.

On me,this fragrance is not very sweet, I would even say, very little sweetness. Strange. The dominant notes on me were mandarin and vetyver with florals more on the background, preventing the fragrance from being sharp. Tuberose is not over the top here. Actually, I like this perfume a lot, and it reminds me of something I can't clearly identify. Nevertheless, it's nice and even romantic. Not very long-lasting, though (anyway, I haven't found any long-lasting Tokyo Milk yet)

A strongly fruity floral that can't be washed off no matter how hard you try. It's not a bad scent, but the juicy round notes of fruit and roses (I really didn't smell tuberose in this one) are so strikingly not my personality that I kept thinking some other woman was wearing too much perfume and standing too close to me. If you like Jovan's Silky Rose, another fruity juicy rose that also somehow feels vintage, this one will be right up your alley.

There is a definete masculine note in this scent. I would almost say this would be better as a cologne. At first sniff it smells sweet and femine but immediately after that the notes following are masculine, almost so much so I don't think I want to wear this.. maybe it would be good to mix with another scent though because it has better staying power then most of the tokyo milk scents, therefore a nice base

Intense, sour, bitter orange with green mould on it. Smells like bile tastes. Bought this because it was in one of the small beautifully wrapped soaps, and they smelled great. The perfume, however, transports me back twenty odd years to those delightful days of wall to wall morning sickness. One spray, and the bottle was left abandoned at the back of a very dark drawer. Yeuch. Nice bottle though.

This scent reminds me of something old. It is my most fave of all the Tokyo Milk scents. I promised myself that if I landed a job I interviewed for, then that would be my present as a "job well done". I am still waiting (1 month later). So I go and spray samples on myself until I hear if I will be gainfully employed.

smells like making out with an older, wealthy french woman who you know is just using you for sex right after you both ate a bunch of caviar and escargot. mostly floral and sweet with an undertone of something salty and tangy and slightly rotten. I like it ̄_(ツ)_/ ̄

This fragrance is a very nice combination for vetiver to star in. It's balanced so that the strong florals can't try to outshine each other. Sometimes the prettiest fragrances have a sparse amount of notes. This is an example of that. Very French. ✨

This was my college years "old reliable" which I empied and then couldnt really find it again. It is unique and I had basically no appreciation for perfume while I wore this (my other bottle that I completed was RL Romance)

It's 'Nice'. An ambiguous yet pleasant scent I swear I've experienced at some point. I'm sure it was a candle. It'll be a great compact and versatile refresher mist to include in my workday half-time kit.
